¹ Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, because of your loyal love, because of your faithfulness. ² Why should the nations say, "Where, _⌊pray tell_⌋,* is their God?" ³ But our God is in the heavens; all that he desires, he does. ⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see; ⁶ they have ears, but cannot hear; they have noses, but cannot smell; ⁷ they have their hands, but they cannot feel, their feet, but they cannot walk; they cannot utter a sound in their throats. ⁸ Those who make them become like them, as does everyone who trusts in them. ⁹ O Israel, trust Yahweh; he is their help and their shield. ¹⁰ O house of Aaron, trust in Yahweh; he is their help and their shield. ¹¹ You who fear Yahweh, trust in Yahweh; he is their help and their shield. ¹² Yahweh remembers us; he will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. ¹³ He will bless those who fear Yahweh, the small with the great. ¹⁴ May Yahweh give you increase, you and your children. ¹⁵ May you be blessed by Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. ¹⁶ The heavens are Yahweh's heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of humankind. ¹⁷ The dead do not praise Yah,* nor any descending into silence. ¹⁸ It is we, we will bless Yah* from now until forever. Praise Yah!*

⁹ The Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of this, and they will surround us and cut off our name from the land. What will you do, for your great name?"

⁷ May he live* forever in the presence of God. Appoint loyal love and faithfulness to preserve him.

²² Rise up, O God, plead your cause; remember the reproaching of you by the foolish _⌊all day long_⌋.*

⁹ Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; and deliver us and forgive* our sins for the sake of your name. ¹⁰ Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it* be known among the nations before our eyes, by the avenging of the blood of your servants that was poured out.

I will sing forever of Yahweh's acts of loyal love. _⌊From generation to generation_⌋* I will make known your faithfulness with my mouth. ² For I say, "Forever your loyal love is built up. The heavens you have established with your faithfulness in them."

⁸ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts.

¹¹ For my own sake, for my own sake I do it; for why should it* be defiled? And I will not give my glory to another."

¹⁴ and I acted for the sake of my name, that it not be profaned before the eyes of the nations _⌊before whom I brought them out_⌋.*

²² "Therefore thus say to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "_⌊Not for your sake_⌋ * am I about to act, house of Israel, _⌊but_⌋* _⌊for my holy name_⌋,* which you defiled among the nations _⌊to which you went_⌋.*

³² But not for your sake am I acting," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. "Let it be known to you, be ashamed, and be put to shame because of your ways, house of Israel.

¹⁹ Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, pay heed and act! You must not delay _⌊for your sake_⌋,* my God; because _⌊your city and your people are called by your name_⌋."*

²⁰ You will show faithfulness to Jacob, and loyal love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors* from the days of old.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

⁸ For I say, Christ has become a servant of the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises to the fathers, ⁹ and that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, just as it is written,
"Because of this, I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praise to your name."*

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved,

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and put down their crowns before the throne, saying, ¹¹ "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you have created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

¹² Why should the Egyptians _⌊say_⌋*, 'With evil intent he brought them out to kill them in the mountains and wipe them from the face of the earth'?* Turn from _⌊your fierce anger_⌋* and relent concerning the disaster for your people.

¹⁵ But if you destroy this people _⌊all at once_⌋,* the nations that will have heard your message will say, ¹⁶ 'Yahweh was unable to bring this people in the land that he swore by an oath, and he slaughtered them in the desert.'

²⁶ I thought, "I will wipe them out; _⌊I will make people forget they ever existed_⌋."* ²⁷ If I had not feared a provocation of the enemy, lest their foes might misunderstand, * lest they should say, * "Our hand is _⌊triumphant_⌋,* and Yahweh did not do all this." '

¹⁰ "Thus you shall say to Hezekiah the king of Judah, 'Let not your God whom you are trusting deceive you, by his saying, "Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria!" ¹¹ Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, by utterly destroying them, and shall you be delivered? ¹² Did the gods of the nations that my _⌊predecessors_⌋* destroyed deliver them? Not Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, nor the children of Eden who were in Tel Assar. ¹³ Where are the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?'" ¹⁴ Hezekiah took the letters from the hand of the messengers and read them. Then he went up to the temple of Yahweh, and Hezekiah spread them out before the presence of Yahweh. ¹⁵ Then Hezekiah prayed before the face of Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh, God of Israel who lives above the cherubim. You are God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the world; you have made the heavens and the earth. ¹⁶ Incline your ears and hear; open, O Yahweh, your eyes and see and hear the words of Sennacherib which he has sent to insult the living God. ¹⁷ Truly, O Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have utterly destroyed the nations and their land. ¹⁸ He has hurled their gods in the fire because they are not gods, but the work of the hands of a human made of wood and stone, so they destroyed them. ¹⁹ So then, O Yahweh our God, rescue us, please, from his hand, that all of the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O Yahweh, you alone are God!"

³ My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

¹⁰ As with a shattering in my bones my oppressors taunt me, while they say to me _⌊all day_⌋,* "Where is your God?"

¹⁰ Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it* be known among the nations before our eyes, by the avenging of the blood of your servants that was poured out.

¹⁷ Between the colonnade and the altar, let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep. And let them say, "Take pity, Yahweh, on your people. Do not make your inheritance a reproach, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the nations, 'Where is their God?'"

²⁵ For Yahweh is great and greatly praised, and he is feared among all gods.

⁴ He who sits enthroned in the heavens laughs. The Lord derides them.

⁴ Sing to God, sing praises to his name. Lift up a song to the rider on the clouds—his name is Yah—* and rejoice before him.

¹⁹ Yahweh has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

¹ A song of ascents.*
I lift up my eyes to you, the one enthroned* in the heavens.

⁶ All that Yahweh desires, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths.

¹⁰ who from the beginning declares the end, and from before, things that have not been done, who says, 'My plan shall stand,' and, 'I will accomplish* all my wishes,'*

³⁵ And all the dwellers of the earth are regarded as nothing, and he does _⌊according to_⌋* his desire in the host of heaven and among the dwellers of earth, and there is not one who can hold back his hand, or _⌊ask him_⌋,* 'What are you doing?'

⁹ Therefore you pray in this way:
"Our Father who is in heaven, may your name be treated as holy.

¹⁹ Therefore you will say to me, "Why then does he still find fault? For who has resisted* his will?

¹¹ in whom also we were chosen, having been predestined according to the purpose of the One who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

²⁸ And you will there serve gods _⌊made by human hands_⌋,* of wood and stone, gods that cannot see and cannot hear and cannot eat and cannot smell.

¹⁸ He has hurled their gods in the fire because they are not gods, but the work of the hands of a human made of wood and stone, so they destroyed them.

⁷ Let all who serve an image be ashamed, those who boast about idols.* Worship him, all you gods.

¹⁵ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of the hands of humankind. ¹⁶ They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see; ¹⁷ they have ears, but cannot hear; there is not even breath in their mouths. ¹⁸ Those who make them become like them, as does everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁹ to _⌊set_⌋* their gods in the fire, for they were not gods, but the work of human hands, wood and stone, and they destroyed them.

¹⁹ A craftsman pours out the idol, and a _⌊goldsmith_⌋* overlays it with gold, and he smelts chains of silver. ²⁰ The one who is too impoverished for a gift chooses wood that will not rot; he seeks a skillful artisan for himself to set up an image that will not be knocked over.

¹⁷ They shall turn back; they shall be _⌊greatly ashamed_⌋,* those who trust in an image, who say to a cast image, "You are our gods."

¹⁰ Who would form a god and cast an image of which he cannot profit?

²⁰ He feeds on ashes; a _⌊deceived mind_⌋* misleads him. And he cannot save _⌊himself_⌋,* and he cannot say, "Is this not an illusion in my right hand?"

¹ Bel bows down; Nebo is stooping. Their idols are _⌊on_⌋* animals* and _⌊on_⌋* cattle; your _⌊cargo_⌋* is carried as a burden _⌊on_⌋* weary animals. ² They stoop; they bow down together. They are not able to save the burden, but* _⌊they themselves go_⌋* in captivity.

⁶ Those who lavish gold from the purse and weigh out silver in the balance scales; hire _⌊a goldsmith_⌋* and he makes him a god; they bow down, indeed they bow in worship. ⁷ They carry it on their shoulder; they support it and they set it in its place, and it stands in position. It cannot be removed from its place; even when he cries out to it, it does not answer. It does not save him from his trouble.

³ For the statutes of the peoples are vanity, for it is a tree cut down from the forest, the work of the hands of a craftsman with the tool. ⁴ He decorates it with silver and gold, they strengthen it with nails and hammers, so that it does not stagger. ⁵ They are like scarecrows* in a cucumber field, they cannot speak. Indeed, they must be carried, for they cannot march. You must not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil; furthermore, to do good is not in them."

⁶ Because it is from Israel, an artisan made it, it is not a god; for the calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.

¹⁸ What value is an idol when its carver has fashioned it, a molten idol, a teacher of lies? For he who fashioned his creation trusts in it, though making mute idols! ¹⁹ Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Wake up!' And to a lifeless stone, 'Arise!' Can he teach? Look, it is covered with gold and silver, and there is no breath within it. ²⁰ But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him."

²⁶ and you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia* this man Paul has persuaded and* turned away a large crowd by* saying that the gods made by hands are not gods.

³⁵ And when* the city secretary had quieted the crowd, he said, "Ephesian men, for who is there among men who does not know the Ephesian city is honorary temple keeper of the great Artemis and of her* image fallen from heaven?

¹⁹ Therefore, what am I saying? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ No, but that the things which they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to become sharers with demons.

⁵ They are like scarecrows* in a cucumber field, they cannot speak. Indeed, they must be carried, for they cannot march. You must not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil; furthermore, to do good is not in them."

¹⁸ Those who make them become like them, as does everyone who trusts in them.

⁹ All those who form an idol are nothing, and their delightful things do not profit. And their witnesses do not see or know, so they will be ashamed. ¹⁰ Who would form a god and cast an image of which he cannot profit? ¹¹ Look! all his companions shall be ashamed, and the artisans are human! Let all of them assemble; let them stand up. They shall tremble;* they shall be ashamed together. ¹² The _⌊ironsmith_⌋* works in the coals with his tool and forms it with hammers. And he makes it with _⌊his strong arm_⌋;* indeed, he becomes hungry, and _⌊he lacks_⌋* strength; he does not drink water, and he is faint. ¹³ The _⌊woodworker_⌋* stretches out a line; he makes an outline of it with a marker. He makes it with a knife and makes an outline of it with a compass. He makes it like the image of a man, like the beauty of a human, to dwell in a temple.* ¹⁴ Cutting down cedars for himself, he _⌊chooses_⌋* a holm tree and an oak, and he lets it grow strong for him among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar, and the rain makes it grow. ¹⁵ And it _⌊becomes fuel for a human_⌋,* and he takes some of it and grows warm; also, he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also, he makes a god and bows in worship; he makes himself an image and bows down to it! ¹⁶ He burns half of it in the fire; he eats meat over half of it; he roasts a roast and is satisfied. Also he grows warm and says, "Ah! I am warm! I see the fire!" ¹⁷ And he makes the remainder of it into a god! He bows down to his idol, and he bows in worship and prays to him, and he says, "Save me, for you are my god!" ¹⁸ They do not know, and they do not understand, for their eyes are besmeared _⌊so that they cannot see_⌋,* their _⌊minds_⌋* _⌊so that they have no insight_⌋.* ¹⁹ And _⌊no one takes it to heart_⌋,* and there is no knowledge and no understanding to say, "I burned half of it in the fire and also I baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat, and I have eaten. And I shall make the rest of it into an abomination! I shall bow down to a block of wood!" ²⁰ He feeds on ashes; a _⌊deceived mind_⌋* misleads him. And he cannot save _⌊himself_⌋,* and he cannot say, "Is this not an illusion in my right hand?"

⁸ _⌊At the same time_⌋* they are stupid and foolish, in the instruction of idols, it is wood.

⁸ Those who worship vain idols forsake their loyal love.*

¹⁸ What value is an idol when its carver has fashioned it, a molten idol, a teacher of lies? For he who fashioned his creation trusts in it, though making mute idols! ¹⁹ Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Wake up!' And to a lifeless stone, 'Arise!' Can he teach? Look, it is covered with gold and silver, and there is no breath within it.

⁵ And now if you will carefully listen to my voice and keep my covenant, you will be a treasured possession for me out of all the peoples, _⌊for all the earth is mine_⌋,*

²⁹ Blessed are you, O Israel. Who is like you, a people who is saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help, and who is the sword of your triumph, and your enemies, they shall fawn before you,* and you shall tread on their backs."

²⁰ Our soul waits for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield. ²¹ For in him our heart rejoices because in his holy name we trust.

³ Trust Yahweh and do good. Abide in the land and feed on faithfulness.*

⁸ Trust him at all times, O people; pour out before him your heart. God is a refuge for us. Selah

¹¹ Because Yahweh God is a sun and a shield; Yahweh gives grace and honor. He does not withhold good from those who walk blamelessly.

² Let Israel say, "His loyal love is forever." ³ Let the house of Aaron say, "His loyal love is forever." ⁴ Let those who fear Yahweh say, "His loyal love is forever."

¹ A song of ascents.*
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

⁷ O Israel, wait* for Yahweh. For with Yahweh there is loyal love, and with him there is abundant redemption.

¹⁹ O house of Israel, bless Yahweh. O house of Aaron, bless Yahweh. ²⁰ O house of Levi, bless Yahweh. You who fear Yahweh, bless Yahweh.

⁵ Blessed is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is on Yahweh as his God, ⁶ who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, the one who keeps faith* forever,

⁵ Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield for him who takes refuge in him.

¹⁷ You must not become to me a terror, you are my refuge in the day of disaster. ¹⁸ Let my persecutors be put to shame, _⌊but as for me_⌋,* do not let me be put to shame. Let them be dismayed, _⌊but as for me_⌋,* do not let me be dismayed. Bring on them the day of disaster, and with double destruction, destroy them.

¹² that we who hoped beforehand in Christ should be for the praise of his glory,

¹ "And bring near to you Aaron, your brother, and his sons with him from the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* to serve as priests for me—Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron.

⁵ And he said to Korah and to his entire company, saying, "Tomorrow morning Yahweh will make known who is his and who is holy, and he will bring him near to him, whomever he chooses he will bring near to him.

⁴⁰ it was a memorial for the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* so that _⌊no strange man_⌋* who is not from _⌊the offspring_⌋* of Aaron should approach the presence of Yahweh to burn a smoke offering;* he will not be like Korah and his company, just as Yahweh had spoken to him by the hand of Moses.*

⁷ But you with your sons will keep your priesthood to perform your priestly duties for everything at the altar* and for _⌊the area behind the curtain_⌋.* I give you the priesthood as a gift, but the stranger who approaches will be put to death."

³ Let the house of Aaron say, "His loyal love is forever."

²³ You who revere Yahweh, praise him! Glorify him, all you seed of Jacob, and be in awe of him, all you seed of Israel,

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear him, on those who hope* for his loyal love

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, so his loyal love prevails over those who fear him.

⁴ Let those who fear Yahweh say, "His loyal love is forever."

¹¹ Yahweh takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope* for his loyal love.

²⁶ In the fear of Yahweh, there is confidence of strength, and for his children, there will be refuge.

³⁵ but in every nation the one who fears him and who does what is right is acceptable to him.

⁵ And a voice came out from the throne, saying,
"Praise our God all his slaves, and those who fear him, the small and the great!"

¹⁷ but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day _⌊that you eat_⌋* from it _⌊you shall surely die_⌋."* ¹⁸ Then* Yahweh God said, "it is not good that the man* is alone. I will make for him a helper _⌊as his counterpart_⌋."*

¹ And God remembered Noah and all the wild animals, and all the domesticated animals that were with him in the ark. And God caused a wind to blow* over the earth, and the waters subsided.

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great. And you will be a blessing. ³ And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you."

²⁴ And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob, ²⁵ and God saw the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and God took notice.*

⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions. According to your loyal love remember me if you will, for the sake of your goodness, O Yahweh.

⁷ God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

²³ Who remembered us in our low estate, for his loyal love endures forever.

²¹ "Remember these things, Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant: I formed you; you are my servant; Israel, you will not be forgotten by me!

¹⁴ But* Zion said, "Yahweh has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me!" ¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling, refrain from having compassion on the child of her womb? Indeed, these may forget, but* I, I will not forget you! ¹⁶ Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

²⁶ God, after he* had raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning each of you back from your wickedness!"

⁴ And he stared at him and became terrified and* said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your charitable deeds have gone up for a memorial offering before God.

¹⁴ in order that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

²⁹ And if you are Christ's, then you are descendants of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.

³ Blessed is* the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

¹¹ May Yahweh give strength to his people. May Yahweh bless his people with peace.

¹ Praise Yah!* Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh; he takes great delight in his commands.

Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh, who walks in his ways.

⁴ Look, for thus shall a man be blessed _⌊who fears Yahweh_⌋.* ⁵ May Yahweh bless you from Zion, that you may see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life,

¹⁶ Then those who revered* Yahweh spoke _⌊with one another_⌋.* And Yahweh listened attentively* and heard, and a scroll of remembrance was written _⌊before him_⌋* of those who revere* Yahweh and ponder his name. ¹⁷ "They will be mine," says Yahweh of hosts, "on the day that I am acting, my treasured possession. I will have compassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.

² But for you who revere* my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like _⌊fattened calves_⌋.*

⁵⁰ And his mercy is for generation after generation to those who fear him.

²⁶ "Men and brothers, sons of the family of Abraham and those among you who fear God—to us the message of this salvation has been sent!

²² Therefore I have experienced help from God until this day, and* I stand here testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except what both the prophets and Moses have said were going to happen,

¹¹ where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all, and in all.

¹⁸ And the nations were angry, and your wrath has come, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to give their* reward to your slaves the prophets and to the saints and to the ones who fear your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth."

¹² And I saw the dead—the great and the small—standing before the throne, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.

¹⁶ I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth which, if anyone were able to count the dust of the earth, your descendants would be so counted.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and you, and between your offspring after you, throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant to be as God for you and to your offspring after you.

¹¹ Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,* may he add to you as you are now a thousand times, and may he bless you just as he _⌊promised you_⌋.*

³ Then Joab said to the king, "May Yahweh your God increase the people a hundred times _⌊what they are_⌋* as the eyes of my lord the king are seeing. But my lord the king, why does he desire this thing?"

² And it shall happen in the future of the days the mountain of the house* of Yahweh shall be established; it will be among the highest* of the mountains, and it shall be raised from the hills. All of the nations shall travel to him; ³ many peoples shall come. And they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house* of the God of Jacob, and may he teach us part of his ways, and let us walk in his paths." For instruction shall go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

²⁰ And it will be a sign and a witness to Yahweh of hosts in the land of Egypt; when they cry out to Yahweh because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and a _⌊defender_⌋,* and he will deliver them. ²¹ And Yahweh will make himself known to Egypt, and Egypt will know Yahweh on that day, and they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows* to Yahweh, and they will fulfill them.

⁶ _⌊Days are coming_⌋,* let Jacob take root; Israel will blossom and send out shoots, and they will fill the face of the world with fruit.

⁸ _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, who gathers* the scattered ones of Israel (still I will gather to* him, to his gathered ones).

⁴ Lift up your eyes all around and see! All of them gather; they come to you. Your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be looked after on the hip. ⁵ Then you shall see and you shall be radiant; and your heart shall tremble and open itself wide, because the abundance of the sea shall fall upon you; the wealth of the nations shall come to you. ⁶ A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young male camels of Midian and Ephah. All those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and frankincense, and they shall proclaim the praise of Yahweh. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered to you; the rams of Nebaioth shall serve you. They shall present a sacrifice for favor on my altar, and I will glorify _⌊my honorable house_⌋.* ⁸ Who are these? They fly like a cloud, and like doves to their coops. ⁹ Because the coastlands wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish are first to bring your children from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of Yahweh your God, and for the holy one of Israel, because he has glorified you. ¹⁰ And _⌊foreigners_⌋* shall build your walls, and their kings shall serve you, for in my anger I struck you, but* in my favor I have taken pity on you. ¹¹ And your gates shall continually be open, day and night they shall not be shut, to bring you the wealth of nations, and their kings shall be led. ¹² For the nation and the kingdom that will not serve you shall perish, and the nations shall be utterly devastated. ¹³ The glory of Lebanon shall come to you; the cypress, the plane, and the pine together, to glorify the place of my sanctuary, and I will do honor to the place of my feet. ¹⁴ And the children of those who oppressed you shall come to you bending low, and all those who treated you disrespectfully shall bow down at the soles of your feet. And they shall call you the city of Yahweh, Zion of the holy one of Israel. ¹⁵ Instead of you being forsaken and hated _⌊with no one passing through,_⌋* I will _⌊make_⌋* you an everlasting _⌊object of pride_⌋,* a joy of _⌊coming generations_⌋.* ¹⁶ And you shall suck the milk of nations, and suck the breast of kings, and you shall know that I am Yahweh your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Strong One of Jacob. ¹⁷ Instead of bronze I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver, and instead of wood, bronze, and instead of stones, iron. And I will _⌊appoint_⌋* peace as your overseer, and righteousness as _⌊your ruling body_⌋.* ¹⁸ Violence shall no longer be heard in your land; devastation or* destruction on your borders. And you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates, Praise. ¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day, and for bright light the moon shall not give you light, but* Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God your glory. ²⁰ Your sun shall no longer go down, and your moon shall not _⌊wane_⌋,* for Yahweh himself will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall come to an end. ²¹ And all your people shall be righteous; they shall take possession of the land forever, the shoot of his* planting, the work of my hands, to show my glory. ²² The small one shall become a tribe, and the smallest one a mighty nation.
I am Yahweh; I will hasten it in its time."

¹⁹ And thanksgiving and the sound of merrymakers will come out from them, and I will make them numerous, and they will not be few. And I will make them honored, and they will not be lowly.

³⁸ And they will be for me a people, and I will be for them God. ³⁹ And I will give to them one heart and one way, to revere me _⌊forever_⌋,* for good to them, and to their children after them.

²² As the host of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will make numerous the offspring of David my servant and the Levites who minister to me.'"

¹⁰ * The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

²⁰ Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'It will happen again that nations and the inhabitants of many cities will come. ²¹ And the inhabitants of one city will go to another city, saying, "Let us go immediately to entreat _⌊the favor of_⌋* Yahweh, to seek Yahweh of hosts—I also will go!" ²² And many peoples and powerful* nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat _⌊the favor of_⌋* Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says Yahweh of hosts: 'In those days ten men from _⌊all the nations of every language_⌋* will take hold of the hem of a Judean man,* saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

⁸ I will whistle to them and gather them, for I have redeemed them, and they will become numerous as they have been numerous before.

³⁹ For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all those who are far away, as many as the Lord our God calls to himself."

²⁵ You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed.'*

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. ² And fear of you and dread of you shall be upon every animal of the earth, and on every bird of heaven,* and on everything that moves upon the ground, and on all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they shall be given. ³ Every moving thing that lives shall be for you as food. As I gave the green plants to you, I have now given you everything.

⁸ _⌊When the Most High apportioned_⌋* the nations, at his dividing up of the sons of humankind, he fixed the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the children of Israel.*

⁶ You make him over the works of your hands; all things you have placed under his feet:

¹¹ The heavens are yours, the earth yours as well, the world with its fullness, because you founded them.

⁵ O Yahweh, bow the heavens and come down; touch the mountains so that they smoke.

⁴ Praise him, _⌊highest heavens_⌋,* and waters above the heavens.

¹ Thus says Yahweh:
"Heaven is my throne, and the earth is the footstool for my feet. Where is this house that you would build for me? And where is this resting place for me?

⁵ "I have made the earth with humankind and animals* that are on the face of the earth by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and I give it to whomever is right in my eyes. ⁶ And now I myself have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and also the animals* of the field I have given to him to serve him.

⁶⁶ Pursue them _⌊in anger_⌋* and destroy them from under the heavens of Yahweh.

² In my Father's house there are many dwelling places; but if not, I would have told you, because* I am going away to prepare a place for you.

⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful* ones, but the wicked will be destroyed* in the darkness, because a man will not prevail by his might.

⁵ For there is no remembrance of you in death. In Sheol, who will give thanks to you?

⁹ "What gain is there in my _⌊death_⌋,* in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?

¹⁷ O Yahweh, let me not be put to shame, for I call on you. Let the wicked be put to shame. Let them go silently* to Sheol.

¹⁰ Do you work wonders* for the dead? Or do the departed spirits* rise up to praise you? Selah ¹¹ Is your loyal love told in the grave, or your faithfulness in the underworld?* ¹² Are your wonders* known in the darkness, or your righteousness* in the land of forgetfulness?

¹⁸ For Sheol cannot praise you; death cannot praise you. Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness. ¹⁹ The living, the living one praises you like me today; a father will make your faithfulness known to children.

² Let the name of Yahweh be blessed, from now until forever.

¹⁷ I will not die but live, and tell of the works of Yah.* ¹⁸ Yah has disciplined me severely, but he did not consign* me to death. ¹⁹ Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to Yah.*

² Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.

²¹ My mouth will speak the praise of Yahweh, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.
