I call on you, O Yahweh; hasten to me. Listen to my voice when I call to you. ² Let my prayer be set before you as incense, the lifting up of my palms as the evening offering. ³ Set a guard, O Yahweh, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. ⁴ Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked deeds with men who do iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies. ⁵ Let a righteous one strike me in kindness, and let him chasten me. It is oil for my head;* let not my head refuse. For still my prayer is against their evil deeds. ⁶ When their judges are thrown down the sides of a cliff,* then they will understand that my words were pleasant. ⁷ As when one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. ⁸ But* my eyes are toward you, O Yahweh, my Lord; I have taken refuge in you. Do not lay bare my soul.* ⁹ Protect me from the _⌊grasp_⌋* of the trap they have laid for me, and from the snares of evildoers. ¹⁰ Let the wicked fall into their* nets, while I escape altogether.

²¹ And why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my guilt? For now I shall lie in the dust, and you will seek me, but* _⌊I will be no more_⌋."*

¹⁹ But you, O Yahweh, do not remain distant. O my help, hasten to help me.

¹³ Be pleased, O Yahweh, to deliver me. O Yahweh, hurry to help me.

¹⁷ and do not hide your face from your servant. Because I am in trouble, answer me quickly. ¹⁸ Draw near to my soul; redeem it. Because of my enemies, ransom me.

⁵ But I am poor and needy; O God hasten to me. You are my help and my deliverer. O Yahweh, do not delay.

¹² O God, do not be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.

¹ A psalm of David.*
O Yahweh, hear my prayer; listen to my supplications. In your faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness.

⁷ Quickly answer me, O Yahweh; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me, or I will become like those descending to the pit.

³⁹ The first lamb you will offer in the morning, and the second lamb you will offer _⌊at twilight_⌋.*

⁴¹ And the second lamb you will offer _⌊at twilight_⌋;* you will offer a grain offering and its libation like that of the morning for a fragrance of appeasement, an offering made by fire for Yahweh. ⁴² It will be a burnt offering of continuity throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of assembly before Yahweh, where I will meet with you to speak to you there.

⁷ "And on it Aaron will turn fragrant incense into smoke; _⌊each morning_⌋* when he tends the lamps, he will turn it into smoke. ⁸ And when Aaron sets up the lamps _⌊at twilight_⌋,* he will turn it into smoke—incense of continuity—before Yahweh throughout your generations. ⁹ You will not offer on it strange incense or a burnt offering or a grain offering, and you will not pour a libation on it.

³⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Take for yourself fragrant perfumes—stacte resin and onycha and galbanum—fragrant perfumes and pure frankincense, _⌊an equal part of each_⌋,* ³⁵ and make it into a compound of incense, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, holy. ³⁶ And you will grind part of it to powder, and you will put part of it before the testimony in the tent of assembly where I will meet with you; it will be a most holy thing to you. ³⁷ And the incense that you will make with its measurements* you will not make for yourselves; it will be holy to you for Yahweh. ³⁸ Anyone who makes any like it to smell it will be cut off from his people."

¹ And Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, and they put fire in them and placed incense on it;* then* they presented _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh illegitimate fire, which he had not commanded them. ² So* fire went out _⌊from before_⌋* Yahweh, and it consumed them so that* they died _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

¹¹ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family; then* he shall slaughter the sin offering's bull, which is for himself. ¹² And he shall take a* censer full of _⌊burning charcoal_⌋* from upon the altar from _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh and _⌊two handfuls_⌋* of incense of powdered fragrant perfumes, and he shall bring it _⌊from behind_⌋* the curtain, ¹³ and he shall put the incense on the fire _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh so that the cloud of incense might cover the atonement cover, which is on the _⌊covenant text_⌋,* so that he might not die.

³⁵ And fire went out from Yahweh, and it consumed the two hundred and fifty men presenting the incense.

⁴⁶ And Moses and Aaron said, "Take the censer, and put fire on it from the altar. Place incense on it, and bring it quickly to the community, and make atonement for them, because wrath went out from the presence of Yahweh, and a plague has begun." ⁴⁷ And so Aaron took it just as Moses had spoken, and he ran into the midst of the assembly, for behold, the plague had begun among the people; so he gave the incense and made atonement for the people. ⁴⁸ He stood between the dead and between the living, and the plague was stopped.

³⁶ It happened at the offering of the evening oblation, Elijah the prophet went near, and he said, "O Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel; let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and that I have done all of these things by your words.

⁴ Then all who trembled at the words of the God of Israel because of the sin of the returned exiles were gathered around me and I sat appalled until the evening offering.

³ O Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will set forth* my case to you and I will watch.*

² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your holy inner sanctuary.

⁴ So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my _⌊hands_⌋* in your name.

² Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless Yahweh.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

²¹ And I was still speaking in prayer, and the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision _⌊previously_⌋,* _⌊in my weariness touched me_⌋* at the time of the evening offering.

¹¹ From the rising of the sun to its setting, my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is being presented to my name, and a pure offering. For my name is great among the nations," says Yahweh of hosts.

⁹ according to the custom of the priesthood he was chosen by lot to enter into the temple of the Lord to burn incense. ¹⁰ And the whole crowd of the people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering.

¹ Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

⁸ Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and dispute.

⁸ And when he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one of whom had a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

³ And another angel who had a golden censer came and stood at the altar, and a large amount of incense was given to him, in order that he could offer the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that is before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense went up before God with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel.

³ You have tried my heart; you have examined me by night; you have tested me; you found nothing. I have decided that my mouth will not transgress. ⁴ As for the works of humankind, by the word of your lips, I have kept from the ways of the violent. ⁵ I have held my steps in your path My feet will not slip.

¹³ Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

I said, "I will guard my ways _⌊that I may not sin_⌋* with my tongue. I will keep a muzzle over my mouth as long as the wicked are before me."

⁸ My mouth is filled with your praise, with your glory all the day.

⁵ Do not put faith in a friend; put no trust in a close friend. Guard the doorways of your mouth from the one who lies in your lap.

²⁶ If anyone thinks he is religious, although he* does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

² For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual,* able to hold in check his whole body also.

² And they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and worshiped their gods.

³⁰ But Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing to let us cross through his territory because Yahweh your God hardened his spirit and _⌊made him obstinate_⌋* _⌊in order to give him_⌋* into your hand, _⌊just as he has now done_⌋.*

⁴ But Yahweh has not given to you a heart to understand, or eyes to see, or ears to hear, even _⌊to this day_⌋.*

⁵⁸ to incline our hearts toward him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his judgments which he commanded our ancestors.*

²² He said, 'I will go out and I will be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he* said, 'You shall entice and succeed, go out and do so.'

³⁶ Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to dishonest gain.

¹ When you sit to eat with a ruler, you shall surely observe what is before you, ² and you shall put a knife to your throat if you have a _⌊big appetite_⌋.* ³ Do not desire his delicacies, for* it is food of deception.

⁶ Do not eat the bread of _⌊the stingy_⌋,* and do not desire his delicacies. ⁷ For, like hair in his _⌊throat_⌋,* so it is.* "Eat and drink!" he will say to you, but his heart will not be with you. ⁸ Your morsel you have eaten, you will vomit it up, and you will waste your pleasant words.

¹⁷ Why do you make us wander, Yahweh? You harden our heart from your ways _⌊so that we do not fear_⌋* you. Turn back for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance.

⁵ And the king assigned to them _⌊his daily portion_⌋* from the fine food of the king, and from _⌊the wine that he drank_⌋,* and instructed that _⌊they were to be educated for three years_⌋.* And at the end of their training, _⌊they were to be stationed_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* the king. ⁶ Now there was among them _⌊from the Judeans_⌋,* Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. ⁷ And the commander of the court officials gave them names, and he called Daniel, Belteshazzar; and Hananiah, Shadrach; and Mishael, Meshach; and Azariah, Abednego. ⁸ Now _⌊Daniel resolved_⌋* that he would not defile himself with the fine food of the king, and with _⌊the wine that he drank_⌋,* and so he requested from the commander of the court officials permission so that he would not defile himself.

¹³ And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.*

¹³ And a voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, slaughter and eat!" ¹⁴ But Peter said, "Certainly not, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common and unclean!"

²⁷ If any of the unbelievers invites you, and you want to go, eat everything that is set before you, _⌊asking no questions_⌋* for the sake of the conscience. ²⁸ But if someone says to you, "This is offered to idols," do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and the conscience.

³¹ Therefore, whether you eat or you drink or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

³³ Do not be deceived! "Bad company corrupts good morals."*

¹⁷ Therefore "come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord, "and do not touch what is unclean,* and I will welcome you,*

¹³ No one who is being tempted should say, "I am being tempted by God," for God _⌊cannot be tempted_⌋* by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven saying,
"Come out from her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins, and so that you will not receive her plagues,

³¹ then this will not be an obstacle for you or a stumbling block of conscience for my lord either by the shedding of blood without cause or by _⌊my lord taking matters into his own hands_⌋.* And when Yahweh does good to my lord, then remember your female servant." ³² Then David said to Abigail, "Blessed be Yahweh the God of Israel who has sent you this day to meet me! ³³ And blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you who have prevented me this day from bloodguilt and from delivering myself by my own hand. ³⁴ But _⌊as Yahweh lives_⌋,* the God of Israel who has prevented me from harming you, if you had not hurried and come to meet me, surely there would not have been _⌊one male_⌋* left alive for Nabal by the light of morning!"

⁷ Then Nathan said to him, "You are the man! Thus says Yahweh the God of Israel: 'I anointed you as king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. ⁸ I gave you the household of your master and the women of your master into your lap. I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah; if that had been too little, I would have added to you _⌊much more_⌋.* ⁹ Why have you despised the word of Yahweh by doing evil in his eyes?* Uriah the Hittite you have struck down with the sword, and his wife you have taken to yourself as wife! You have killed him with the sword of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋!* ¹⁰ So then, a sword will not turn away from your house forever, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife!' ¹¹ Thus says Yahweh, 'Look, I am going to raise up evil against you from within your house, and I will take your women before your eyes, and I will give them to your neighbor, and he shall sleep with your wives _⌊in broad daylight_⌋.* ¹² Though you did this in secret, I will do this thing before all of Israel _⌊in broad daylight_⌋!'"* ¹³ Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against Yahweh!"* Nathan said to David, "Yahweh has also forgiven your sin; you shall not die.

⁷ And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "On account of your reliance upon the king of Aram,* and since you did not rely on Yahweh your God, therefore the troops of the king of Aram* escaped from your hand. ⁸ Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with very abundant chariots and horsemen? And because of your reliance on Yahweh he gave them into your hand. ⁹ For the eyes of Yahweh roam throughout all the earth to strengthen those whose heart is fully devoted to him. You have been foolish in this, for from now on you will have wars." ¹⁰ Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in _⌊the prison_⌋,* for he was enraged with him concerning this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

¹⁶ And it happened that while he was speaking to him, he said to him, "Have we appointed you as a counselor to the king? Stop—_⌊why should you be killed_⌋?"* So the prophet stopped and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice."

⁵ You prepare before me a table in the presence of my oppressors. You anoint my head with oil; my cup is overflowing.

¹⁸ Do good in your favor toward Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.

⁴ Do good, O Yahweh, to the good, and to those upright in their hearts.

²³ For like a lamp is a commandment, and instruction is light, and the way of life* is the reproof of discipline,

⁸ Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke the wise and he will love you. ⁹ Give to a wise one and he will become more wise; _⌊teach_⌋* a righteous one and he will increase learning.

⁵ A fool will despise the instruction of his father, but he who guards reproof is prudent.

²² Plans go wrong when there is no counsel, but with many advisors it will succeed.

²⁵ The scoffer you shall strike, and the simple, may they learn prudence, and reprove the intelligent and he will gain knowledge.

¹² A ring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a rebuke of the wise to the ear of a listener.

⁵ Better a rebuke that is open than a love that is hidden. ⁶ The wounds of a friend mean well, but the kisses of an enemy are profane.

⁵ Better to listen to the rebuke of the wise than for a man to listen to the song of fools.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

¹¹ But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was condemned. ¹² For before certain people came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles, but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he* was afraid of those who were of the circumcision, ¹³ and the rest of the Jews also joined in this hypocrisy with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with them in their hypocrisy. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they were not being straightforward with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of them all, "If you, although you* are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

¹ Brothers, even if a person is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of humility, looking out for yourself, lest you also be tempted.

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he refreshed me many times, and was not ashamed of my imprisonment, ¹⁷ but when he* was in Rome, he diligently sought me and found me. ¹⁸ May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day! And how much he served me in Ephesus you know very well.

¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the elders of the church and they should pray over him, anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins _⌊he will be forgiven_⌋*. ¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. Be zealous, therefore, and repent!

¹ Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before the Philistines, and they fell slain on Mount Gilboa. ² And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons, and the Philistines killed Jonathan and Abinadab and Malki-Shua, the sons of Saul. ³ _⌊Saul was in the thick of the battle_⌋,* and _⌊the archers_⌋* spotted* him, and he was badly wounded by the archers. ⁴ Then Saul said to _⌊his armor bearer_⌋,* "Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, so that these uncircumcised do not come and thrust me through and make a fool of me!" But _⌊his armor bearer_⌋* was not willing to do so because he was very afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it. ⁵ And when _⌊his armor bearer_⌋* saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him. ⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, _⌊his armor bearer_⌋,* and all his men together that same day. ⁷ And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley and those who were beyond the Jordan saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the towns and fled. Thus the Philistines came and lived in them. ⁸ _⌊And then_⌋* the next day, the Philistines came to strip the dead and they found Saul and his three sons lying dead on Mount Gilboa.

¹⁷ Then David sang this funeral song over Saul and over Jonathan his son. ¹⁸ And he ordered "The Bow" to be taught to the children of Judah. Look, it is written on the scroll of Jashar.* ¹⁹ "The glory of Israel is on your high places; how the mighty have fallen! ²⁰ Do not tell it in Gath; do not proclaim it in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised exult. ²¹ O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you or on the fields of grain for offerings, for there the small shield of the mighty was defiled, the small shield of Saul was not anointed with oil. ²² From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not turn back, and the sword of Saul did not return _⌊without effect_⌋.* ²³ Saul and Jonathan were beloved and pleasant in their lives and were not separated in their death. They were swifter than eagles, stronger than lions. ²⁴ O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, the one who clothed you with crimson, the one who _⌊adorned your clothing with golden ornaments_⌋.* ²⁵ How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle; Jonathan lies slain on your high places. ²⁶ _⌊I am distressed_⌋* over you, my brother Jonathan. you were very dear to me; your love was more wonderful to me than the love of women. ²⁷ How the mighty have fallen and the weapons of warfare perished."

⁴ Then the men of Judah came, and they anointed David there as king over the house of Judah, and they told David, "The men of Jabesh-Gilead buried Saul." ⁵ So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead and said to them, "May you be blessed by Yahweh because you did this loyal love with your lord, with Saul, and you buried him. ⁶ Now may Yahweh show loyal love and faithfulness with you. I will also show the good with you that you have done in this matter.

¹ So all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and they said, "Here we are, _⌊we are your flesh and blood_⌋.* ² _⌊For some time_⌋,* when Saul was king over us, _⌊you were leading Israel in and out_⌋.* Yahweh had said to you, 'You shall be the shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be the leader over Israel.'" ³ All the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David _⌊made a covenant_⌋* with them at Hebron in the presence of Yahweh; then they anointed David as king over Israel.

¹ These are the last words of David, the declaration of David the son of Jesse, and the declaration of the man exalted by the Most High, the anointed one of the God of Jacob and the darling of the songs of Israel.

¹ Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and every Israelite fled away from before the Philistines. And they fell slain upon Mount Gilboa. ² And the Philistines _⌊overtook_⌋* Saul and his sons. And the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua, the sons of Saul. ³ And the battle was heavy against Saul, and the _⌊archers_⌋* found him, and he was wounded by the _⌊archers_⌋.* ⁴ And Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and deal harshly with me." But he was very afraid. Then Saul took the sword and fell upon it. ⁵ When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell upon the sword, and he died. ⁶ So Saul died. And his three sons and all his house died together. ⁷ And when all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they* had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. Then the Philistines came and dwelled in them.

¹ Then all Israel gathered to David in Hebron, saying, "Look—we are your flesh and bones. ² _⌊For some time now_⌋,* even when Saul was king, you were _⌊the one who led the army of Israel in battle_⌋.* And Yahweh your God said to you, 'You will shepherd my people Israel and will be leader over my people Israel.'" ³ Then all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron in the presence of Yahweh. And they anointed David as king over Israel according to the word of Yahweh by the hand of Samuel.

³⁸ All these were men of war arrayed in battle line _⌊with a whole heart_⌋.* They came to Hebron to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel had one heart to make David king.

² And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "_⌊If it seems good to you_⌋* and before Yahweh our God, _⌊let us send word abroad_⌋* to our brothers who remain in all the land of Israel and to the priests and Levites with them in the cities with their pasturelands that they might be gathered to us.

¹² Now the _⌊troops_⌋* captured ten thousand others alive, and they brought them to the top of the rock and threw them from the top of the rock. So all of them were smashed to pieces.

² You are the most handsome of the sons of humankind; grace is poured out on your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

²² And they were all speaking well of him, and were astonished at the gracious words that were coming out of his mouth. And they were saying, "Is this man not the son of Joseph?"

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, "You turn and attack the priests!" So Doeg the Edomite turned and attacked the priests himself, and on that day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod. ¹⁹ And _⌊he put to the sword_⌋* Nob, the city of the priests, from man to woman, from child to infant, and ox and donkey and sheep;* all _⌊to the sword_⌋.*

²² Rather, on account of you we are killed _⌊all day long_⌋;* we are accounted as sheep for slaughter.

⁵ There _⌊they are very fearful_⌋* where no fear had been, because God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.

³⁶ Just as it is written,
"On account of you we are being put to death the whole day long; we are considered as sheep for slaughter."*

⁹ But we ourselves had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we would not be putting confidence in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they died by murder with a sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, impoverished, afflicted, mistreated,

⁸ And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is called symbolically Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. ⁹ And those from peoples and tribes and languages and nations will see their dead bodies three and a half days, and they will not allow their dead bodies to be placed in a tomb.

¹² O our God, will you not judge them, for there is no power in us before this great multitude that is coming against us. Now we do not know what we shall do, for our eyes are upon you."

¹² Kiss the Son lest he be angry and you perish on the way, for his anger burns quickly. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

In Yahweh I have taken refuge; how can you say to my soul, "Flee to your mountain like a bird"?

¹⁵ My eyes are continually toward Yahweh, because he will take my feet from the net. ¹⁶ Turn to me and have mercy on me because I am lonely and afflicted. ¹⁷ Remove the troubles of my heart; bring me out from my distresses.

¹⁷ He will turn his attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

¹ A song of ascents.*
I lift up my eyes to you, the one enthroned* in the heavens. ² Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,* as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to Yahweh our God, until he is gracious to us.

³ For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me dwell in dark places like those long dead. ⁴ And so my spirit grows faint within me; my heart _⌊within_⌋* me is desolate.

¹⁷ The poor and the needy are seeking water and there is none; their tongue is dried up with thirst. I, Yahweh, will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

¹⁸ "I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.

¹² Those who seek my life lay snares as well, and those intent on my harm speak threats. They also plot deceit all day.

¹¹⁰ The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I do not wander from your precepts.

⁵ The proud have hidden a trap for me, and cords. They have spread out a net along the _⌊side_⌋* of the path. They have set snares for me. Selah

³ When my spirit faints within me, you know my way. On the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me;

¹⁴ The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, in order to avoid the snares of death.

²² Let a cry for help be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring upon them the raiding band, for they have dug a pit to catch me, and they have fixed secretly a trap for my feet.

²⁰ And they watched him* closely and* sent spies who pretended they were upright, in order that they could catch him in a statement, so that they could hand him over to the authority and the jurisdiction of the governor.

¹⁰ And they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai, and the anger of the king was abated.

¹⁵ He makes a pit and digs it out, then falls in the trap he has made. ¹⁶ His trouble comes back on his head, and his violence comes down on his skull.

⁸ Let _⌊unforeseen ruin_⌋* come on him, and his net that he hid, let it catch him. Let him fall into it in ruin.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow to throw down the poor and the needy, to kill those upright in their way. ¹⁵ Their sword will enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

⁷ But God will shoot them; with an arrow they will suddenly be wounded. ⁸ * And they who would cause him* to stumble, their own tongue will be against them. All who gaze on them will shake.*

⁹ With respect to the head of those who surround me, may the harm of their lips cover them.

⁸ The righteous is delivered from trouble, but the wicked enters into it.
