An oracle: the wicked has rebellion in the midst of his* heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes. ² For he flatters himself in his eyes, hating to detect his iniquity.* ³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to have insight and to do good. ⁴ He plans sin on his bed. He puts himself on a way that is not good. He does not reject evil. ⁵ O Yahweh, your loyal love extends into the heavens, your faithfulness unto the clouds. ⁶ Your righteousness is _⌊like the mighty mountains_⌋,* your judgments like the great deep. You save man and beast, O Yahweh. ⁷ How precious is your loyal love, O God, and the children of humankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. ⁸ They are refreshed with the _⌊fullness_⌋* of your house,* and you give them drink from the river of your delights. ⁹ For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. ¹⁰ Prolong your loyal love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart. ¹¹ Do not let a foot of pride come against me, nor let a wicked hand make me to wander homeless. ¹² There doers of evil have fallen; they are thrust down and not able to rise.

¹¹ And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place; they will kill me on account of the matter of my wife.

⁵ Then Moses, the servant of Yahweh, died there in the land of Moab _⌊according to the command of Yahweh_⌋.*

¹³ When Samuel came to Saul, Saul said to him, "May you be blessed by Yahweh! I have kept the word of Yahweh." ¹⁴ But Samuel said, "Then what is this bleating of the sheep that I hear in my ears and the lowing of the cattle that I am hearing?"

¹ For the music director. Of David, the servant of Yahweh, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song _⌊when_⌋* Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.*
And he said: "I love you, O Yahweh, my strength."

¹ A prayer of Moses, the man of God.*
O Lord, you have been our help* _⌊in all generations_⌋.*

¹ Praise Yah!* Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh; he takes great delight in his commands.

¹² And in your loyal love destroy my enemies, and exterminate all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.

¹³ The fear of Yahweh is hatred of evil, pride, and arrogance and an evil way. And I hate a mouth of perversity.

⁶ By loyalty and faithfulness, iniquity will be covered over,* and by fear of Yahweh _⌊one turns_⌋* from evil.

¹¹ Even by his acts, a _⌊young man_⌋* will make himself known, whether his acts are pure and upright.

¹³ Now that all has been heard, here is the final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁶ You will recognize them by their fruits: they do not gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles, do they?* ¹⁷ In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ As a result, you will recognize them by their fruits.

³³ "Either make the tree good and its fruit is good, or make the tree bad and its fruit is bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. ³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say good things when you* are evil? For from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

¹⁸ The fear of God is not before their eyes."*

²⁴ And the slave of the Lord must not quarrel, but be kind toward everyone, skillful in teaching, tolerant,

¹ Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of the chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth that is according to godliness,

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny him, because they* are detestable and disobedient, and unfit for every good deed.

¹ James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in the dispersion. Greetings!

¹ Simeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a faith equal in value to ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

¹ Jude,* a slave of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, loved in God the Father and kept for* Jesus Christ.

¹ The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his slaves the things which must take place in a short time, and communicated it by* sending it through his angel to his slave John,

¹⁹ And then when he hears the words of this oath, then* _⌊he will assure himself_⌋* in his heart, _⌊saying_⌋,* '_⌊Safety shall be mine even though I go in the stubbornness of my heart_⌋,'* thereby destroying the well-watered land along with the parched.*

¹⁸ When Yahweh sent you on your way, he said to you: 'Go! You must utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and you must fight against them until you* have destroyed them.' ¹⁹ Why did you not listen to the voice of Yahweh and fall with shouting on the plunder? You have done evil in the sight of Yahweh!" ²⁰ Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have listened to the voice of Yahweh, and I have gone on the way that Yahweh sent me! I brought Agag the king of Amalek, and the Amalekites I have utterly destroyed. ²¹ The troops took from the plunder, sheep and cattle, the best of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to Yahweh your God at Gilgal." ²² Then Samuel said,
"Is there as much delight for Yahweh in burnt offerings and sacrifices as there is in _⌊obeying_⌋* Yahweh? Look! _⌊To obey_⌋* is better than sacrifice; to give heed than the fat of rams. ²³ For rebellion is like the sin of divination; arrogance is like iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, he has rejected you from being king!" ²⁴ Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned because I have transgressed _⌊the commandment of Yahweh_⌋* and your words, for I feared the troops and I listened to their voice.

¹³ So Saul died on account of his sin which he had sinned against Yahweh concerning the command of Yahweh that he did not keep. He also consulted a medium to seek guidance. ¹⁴ But he did not seek Yahweh. So Yahweh put him to death and turned over the kingship to David, the son of Jesse.

³ for the wicked boasts about the desire of his _⌊heart_⌋,* and the one greedy for gain curses and treats Yahweh with contempt.

¹⁸ Though he congratulated his soul while he was living —and people will praise you when you do well for yourself—

²³ "How can you say, 'I have not defiled myself, I have not gone after the Baals?' Look at your way in the valley, know what you have done. You are a young she-camel, interweaving her ways.

³⁴ Also on your skirts is found the blood of the life of the innocent, the poor. You did not find them in the act of breaking into a house. But in spite of all these things, ³⁵ yet you say, 'But I am innocent, surely his anger has turned away from me.' Look, I am entering into judgment with you because of your saying, 'I have not sinned.'

⁹ The heart is deceitful more than anything else, and it is disastrous. Who can understand it?

⁷ The trader, in his hand are scales of deceit;* he loves to oppress. ⁸ And Ephraim said, "Surely, I am rich, I gained* wealth for myself; in all my toil they have not found guilt in me that is sin.

²⁹ But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. ¹⁵ And he said to them, "You are the ones who justify themselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts! For what is considered exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

⁹ What then? Do we have an advantage? Not at all. For we have already charged both Jews and Greeks are all under sin,

⁹ And I was alive once, apart from the law, but when* the commandment came, sin sprang to life

³ For ignoring the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own,* they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

⁶ Then the Spirit of God rushed upon Saul when he heard these words, and _⌊he became very angry_⌋.* ⁷ So he took a yoke of oxen and cut them into pieces and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hand of the messengers, saying, "Whoever is not going out after Saul and after Samuel, so will it be done to his oxen." Then the fear of Yahweh fell on the people and they went out as one man. ⁸ He mustered them at Bezek; the _⌊Israelites_⌋* were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah were thirty thousand. ⁹ They said to the messengers who had come, "Thus you will say to the men of Jabesh Gilead: 'Tomorrow deliverance for you will come _⌊when the sun is hot_⌋.'"* When the messengers went and told the men of Jabesh, they rejoiced. ¹⁰ The men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you and you may do to us _⌊whatever seems good to you_⌋."* ¹¹ _⌊And the_⌋* next day Saul placed the people in three divisions. Then they came into the middle of the camp _⌊at the early morning watch_⌋* and struck down _⌊the Ammonites_⌋* until the heat of the day. It happened that the remainder were scattered _⌊so that no two among them remained together_⌋.* ¹² Then the people said to Samuel, "Who is the one who asked, 'Will Saul reign over us?' Give the men to us that we may kill them." ¹³ But Saul said, "No one will be put to death on this day, because _⌊today_⌋* Yahweh has provided deliverance in Israel."

¹³ Then Samuel said to Saul, "You have behaved foolishly! You have not kept the command of Yahweh your God which he commanded you. For then, Yahweh would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. ¹⁴ But now, your kingdom will not endure. Yahweh has sought for himself a man according to his own heart, and Yahweh has appointed him as leader over his people, because you have not kept what Yahweh commanded you."

²⁶ But Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of Yahweh, and he has rejected you from being king over Israel!"

¹⁴ Now the Spirit of Yahweh departed from Saul and an evil spirit from Yahweh tormented him.

²¹ And Saul thought, "I will give her to him, so that she may be a snare for him and the hand of the Philistines may be against him." So Saul said to David, "For a second time you can become my son-in-law today."

⁶ And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan and swore, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋,* he will not be put to death!" ⁷ Jonathan called to David and told him all of these words. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul and he was before him as _⌊formerly_⌋.*

²¹ Then Saul said, "I have sinned! Come back, David my son, for I will not harm you again, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Look, I have acted like a fool and _⌊have made a terrible mistake_⌋."*

⁹ For there is not anything reliable in his mouth; their inner part is destruction.* Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.*

⁷ His mouth is filled with cursing, with deceits and oppression; under his tongue are trouble and evil.

² They speak falseness _⌊to each other_⌋.* With flattering lips, with _⌊a double heart_⌋* they speak. ³ May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, the tongue speaking great boasts—

²¹ The _⌊buttery words_⌋* of his mouth were smooth, but there was battle in his heart. His words were smoother than oil, but they were drawn swords.

³ The wicked are estranged from the womb. They go astray from the belly, speaking lies.

⁸ You pay attention, O brutes among the people. And you fools, when you will show insight?

⁵ But regarding those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Yahweh will lead them away with the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.

³ They sharpen their tongue as sharp as a snake's; the venom of a viper is under their lips. Selah

²² "For my people are foolish, they have not known me. They are foolish children, and they do not have insight. They are skillful at doing evil, and they do not know how to do good."

⁶ and those who turned back from _⌊following_⌋* Yahweh, and who did not seek Yahweh, and did not inquire of him."

¹⁵ Then the Pharisees went _⌊and consulted_⌋* so that they could entrap him with a statement. ¹⁶ And they sent their disciples to him with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and _⌊you do not care what anyone thinks_⌋,* _⌊because you do not regard the opinion of people_⌋.* ¹⁷ Therefore tell us what you think. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" ¹⁸ But because he* knew their maliciousness, Jesus said, "Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

³⁵ And one of them, a legal expert, put a question to him* to test him:

³⁹ But we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but among those who have faith to the preservation of our souls.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But they went out*, in order that it might be shown that all of them are not of us.

¹¹ Then Saul sent messengers to David's house to guard him and to kill him in the morning, but Michal his wife told David, saying, "If _⌊you do not save your life_⌋* tonight, then tomorrow you will be killed!"

¹⁴ And Zeresh his wife and all of his friends said to him, "Let them make a gallows fifty cubits* high, and in the morning tell the king, "Let them hang Mordecai on it; then go with the king to the banquet happily." The advice pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.

⁴ And the king asked, "Who is in the courtyard?" Haman had just come to the courtyard of the king's outer palace to tell the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

¹⁶ _⌊How much less_⌋* he who is abominable and corrupt,* a man drinking wickedness like water.

¹² Those who seek my life lay snares as well, and those intent on my harm speak threats. They also plot deceit all day.

³ You love evil more than good, a lie more than speaking _⌊what is right_⌋.* Selah

¹⁰ You who love Yahweh, hate evil. He protects the lives of his faithful; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

¹⁶ For they will not sleep if they have not done wrong, and they are robbed of their sleep if they do not cause stumbling.

²³ These sayings are also for the wise: _⌊Partiality_⌋* in judgment is not good.

² I spread out my hands all day to a stubborn people, those who walk after their thoughts in the way that is not good,

¹⁶ Thus says Yahweh: "Stand at the roads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the way of the good is, and walk in it, and find rest for your inner selves.* But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'*

⁶ I have listened attentively, and I have listened. They do not speak honestly, there is no man who regrets his wickedness, saying, 'What have I done?' All of them are turning to their ways of running, like a horse plunging into battle.

² _⌊Oh that I had_⌋* in the desert a place of overnight lodging for travelers, that I may leave my people and go from them, for all of them are adulterers, a band of traitors. ³ And they bend their tongue like their bow, for falsehood and not truth is superior in the land, for they go forth* from evil to evil, and they do not know me," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ⁴ "Let everyone be on your guard against his neighbor, and you must not trust in any brother, for everyone surely betrays, and every neighbor goes about with slander. ⁵ And everyone deceives his neighbor, and they do not speak the truth, they have taught their tongues* to speak lies,* they are tired from going astray. ⁶ Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit, upon* deceit they refuse to know me," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ⁷ Therefore, thus says Yahweh of hosts:
"Look, I am about to refine them, and I will test them, for what else can I do, because of the _⌊presence_⌋* of the daughter of my people? ⁸ Their tongue is a murderous arrow, it speaks deceit. With his mouth he speaks peace with his neighbor, but in his inner parts he sets up his ambush. ⁹ Because of these things shall I not punish them?" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "On a nation that is like this shall I not take revenge?

⁶ Because they are kindled* like an oven, their heart burns within them; all night their anger _⌊smolders_⌋,* in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire. ⁷ All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour* their rulers. All their kings have fallen; there is none who calls to me amongst them.

¹⁵ Hate evil and love good and establish justice in the gate; perhaps Yahweh, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

¹ Woe to those who plan wickedness and evil deeds upon their beds! In the light of the morning they did it, because they have power in their hands.

⁸ He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does Yahweh ask from you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

¹ Now when it* was early morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus in order to put him to death.

¹² And when it* was day, the Jews made a conspiracy and* bound themselves under a curse, saying they would* neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

³² who, although they* know the requirements of God, that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only do they do the same things, but also they approve of those who do them.

⁹ Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; be attached to what is good,

² 'I know your works, and your labor and patient endurance, and that you are not able to tolerate evil, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you found them to be false.

¹ For the music director. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite came and informed Saul. And he said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech."*
Why do you boast about evil, O mighty man? The loyal love of God endures _⌊continually_⌋.*

¹⁰ Because your loyal love is high to the heavens, and your faithfulness to the clouds.

² For I say, "Forever your loyal love is built up. The heavens you have established with your faithfulness in them."

² to declare in the morning your loyal love and your faithfulness in the night,

⁵ For Yahweh is good; his loyal love is forever, and his faithfulness is _⌊from generation to generation_⌋.*

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, so his loyal love prevails over those who fear him.

⁴ because your loyal love is great above the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of sin his thoughts. And let him return to Yahweh, that* he may take pity on him, and to our God, for he will _⌊forgive manifold_⌋.* ⁸ "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,"
_⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ⁹ "For as the heavens are _⌊higher_⌋* than the earth, so my ways are _⌊higher_⌋* than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge may have powerful encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us, ¹⁹ which we have like an anchor of the soul, both firm and steadfast, and entering into the inside of the curtain, ²⁰ where Jesus, the forerunner for us, entered, because he* became a high priest _⌊forever_⌋* according to the order of Melchizedek.

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill the righteous with the wicked, that* the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"

²⁸ Pray to Yahweh. The thunder of God and hail _⌊are enough_⌋,* and I will release you, and _⌊you will no longer have to stay_⌋."*

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are just; he is a faithful God, and _⌊without injustice_⌋;* righteous and upright is he.

¹⁵ Then there was terror* in the camp, in the open field, and among all the army of the garrison. Even the _⌊raiders_⌋* trembled. The earth shook, and it became _⌊a very great panic_⌋.*

⁶ "You alone are Yahweh. You alone have made the heavens, the heavens of the heavens, and all of their army, the earth and all that is in it, the waters and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and the army of the heavens worship you.

²⁰ If I have sinned, what have I done to you, watcher of humanity? Why have you made me as a target for yourself, so that* I have become a burden to myself?*

⁷ "Can you find out the essence of God, or can you find out _⌊the ultimate limits_⌋* of Shaddai? ⁸ _⌊It is higher than the heaven_⌋;* what can you do? It is deeper than Sheol; what can you know? ⁹ Its measure is longer than the earth and broader than the sea.

²³ As for Shaddai, we cannot attain him; he is exalted in power, and he does not oppress justice and abundant righteousness.

¹⁹ And your righteousness, O God, is to the height of heaven. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you?

¹⁹ Your way was through the sea, and your path* through many waters. Yet your footprints were not discerned.*

⁵ How great are your deeds, O Yahweh; how very deep are your thoughts.

² Cloud and thick darkness are surrounding him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

¹⁴ who causes grass to grow for the cattle and herbs for the service of humankind, to bring forth food from the earth, ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, so that their faces shine from oil, and bread that strengthens the heart of man. ¹⁶ The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted, ¹⁷ where birds make their nest. The stork has its home in the fir trees. ¹⁸ The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for the rock badgers. ¹⁹ He made the moon for appointed times; the sun knows its time for setting. ²⁰ You make darkness, and it is night, when* all the animals of the forest creep about. ²¹ The young lions are roaring for the prey and seeking their food from God. ²² When the sun rises, they gather together and lie down in their dens. ²³ Humankind goes out to its work, and to its labor until evening. ²⁴ How many are your works, O Yahweh; all of them you have done in wisdom. The earth is full of your creatures. ²⁵ This is the great and _⌊wide_⌋* sea, in which are moving animals without number, living things small and great. ²⁶ There the ships sail. Leviathan is there that you formed to play with.* ²⁷ They all wait for you to give them their food _⌊at the proper time_⌋.* ²⁸ You give to them; they gather it. You open your hand, they are filled with what is good. ²⁹ You hide your face, they are terrified. You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. ³⁰ You send forth your Spirit,* they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. ³¹ May the glory of Yahweh endure forever. May Yahweh be glad in his works, ³² the one who looks at the earth and it quakes, and touches the mountains and they smoke. ³³ I will sing to Yahweh throughout my life; I will sing praise to my God while _⌊I remain alive_⌋.* ³⁴ May my meditation be pleasing to him. I will be glad in Yahweh. ³⁵ Let sinners perish completely from the earth, and the wicked _⌊not remain alive_⌋.* Bless Yahweh, O my soul. Praise Yah.*

⁹ Yahweh is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works.

¹⁶ opening your hand, and satisfying the desire of every living creature. ¹⁷ Yahweh is righteous in all his ways, and loyal in all his works.

⁹ He gives to the animal its food, and to the young ravens that cry.

²⁸ Have you not known, or have you not heard? Yahweh is the God of eternity, the creator of the ends of the earth! He is not faint, and he does not grow weary! There is no searching his understanding.

¹⁹ I have spoken not in secrecy, in a place, a land, of darkness, I have not said to the descendants of Jacob, 'Seek me _⌊in vain_⌋!'* I, Yahweh, am speaking righteousness, declaring uprightness.

²¹ Declare and present your case, also let them consult together! Who _⌊made this known_⌋* from _⌊former times_⌋,* declared it from _⌊of old_⌋?* Was it not I, Yahweh? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God besides me, and no savior besides me. ²² Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none besides me. ²³ I have sworn by myself; a word that* shall not return has gone forth from my mouth in righteousness: 'Every knee shall kneel down to me; every tongue shall swear.' ²⁴ 'Only in Yahweh,' one shall say to me, 'are righteousness and strength.' He shall come to him, and all those who were angry with him shall be ashamed.

¹ You will be in the right, O Yahweh, when I complain to you. Even so, let me speak my claims with you. Why does the way of the wicked succeed? All those who deal treacherously with treachery are at ease.

¹¹ And should I not be concerned about Nineveh, the great city, _⌊in which there are_⌋* more _⌊than one hundred and twenty thousand_⌋* people who do not know right from left,* plus many animals?"

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?* And one of them will not fall to the ground _⌊without the knowledge and consent_⌋* of your Father. ³⁰ And even the hairs of your head are all numbered!

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and* said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to young children.* ²⁶ Yes, Father, for to do so _⌊was your gracious will_⌋.*

²⁵ whom God made publicly available as the mercy seat* through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because of the passing over of previously committed sins,

³³ Oh, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how incomprehensible are his ways!

¹⁰ For to this end we labor and suffer reproach,* because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of believers.

⁶ And Yahweh passed over before him, and he proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh, God, who is compassionate and gracious, _⌊slow to anger_⌋,* and abounding with* loyal love and faithfulness,

¹² May Yahweh reward your work and may a full reward be given to you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you came to take refuge."

⁸ Keep me as _⌊the apple of your eye_⌋.* Hide me in the shadow of your wings

¹⁹ How abundant is your goodness that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you perform for those who take refuge in you before the children of humankind.

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, because in you my soul takes refuge. In the shadow of your wings I will take refuge until destruction passes by.

⁷ Because you have been my help, therefore* in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.

⁵ For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, and abundant in loyal love* for all who call to you.

¹⁵ But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness.

⁴ With his feathers he will cover you, and under his wings you can take refuge. His faithfulness will be a shield and a buckler.*

¹⁷ And to me, how precious* are your thoughts, O God; how vast is their sum.

⁷ They will utter * the renown of your abundant goodness, and they will proclaim with joy your righteousness. ⁸ Yahweh is gracious and compassionate, _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and great in loyal love.

³⁴ "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together _⌊the way_⌋* a hen gathers* her own brood under her* wings, and you were not willing!

¹⁶ For in this way God loved the world, so that he gave his one and only Son, in order that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.

⁶ For it stands in scripture,
"Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame."* ⁷ Therefore the honor is for you who believe, but for those who refuse to believe,
"The stone that the builders rejected, this one has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋*,"

⁴ through which things he has bestowed on us his precious and very great promises, so that through these you may become sharers of the divine nature after* escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire,

¹ See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called children of God, and we are! Because of this the world does not know us: because it did not know him.

⁹ By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God sent his one and only Son into the world in order that we may live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation* for our sins.

¹⁷ _⌊He will not enjoy the streams_⌋,* the torrents of honey and curds.

¹¹ You will make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasures forever.

¹⁵ By contrast, I in righteousness shall see your face. Upon awakening I will be satisfied seeing your form.

⁴ There is a river whose streams gladden the city of God, the holiest of the dwellings of the Most High.

⁵ My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.

⁴ Blessed is one whom you choose and bring near, that he may abide in your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.

¹ I have come to my garden, my sister bride, I have gathered my myrrh with my spice, I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey, I have drunk my wine with my milk! Eat, O friends! _⌊Drink and become drunk with love_⌋!*

⁶ And on this mountain Yahweh of hosts will make for all peoples a _⌊rich feast_⌋,* a feast of aged wines, fat filled with marrow, filtered aged wine.

²⁰ The animals of the field will honor me, jackals and daughters of the ostrich, for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give a drink to my chosen people,

²¹ And when he led them through the deserts, they were not thirsty; he made water flow from the rock for them, and he split the rock, and the water gushed out.

¹ "Ho! Everyone thirsty, come to the waters! And whoever has no money, come, buy and eat, and come, buy without money, wine and milk without price! ² Why do you weigh out money for what is not food, and your labor for _⌊what cannot satisfy_⌋?* Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and let your soul take pleasure in _⌊rich_⌋* food.

¹¹ And Yahweh will lead you continually, and satisfy your soul in a barren land, and he will strengthen your bones, and you shall be like a well-watered garden, and like a spring of water whose water does not fail.

¹² And they will come, and they will sing for joy on the height of Zion, and they will be radiant over the goodness of Yahweh, over the grain, and over the wine, and over the olive oil, and over the young ones of the flock, and over the cattle. And their life will become like a well-watered garden, and they will never languish again." ¹³ "Then the young woman will rejoice in the dancing in a ring, and the young men and the old men together. And I will turn their mourning to jubilation, and I will comfort them, and I will gladden them from their sorrow. ¹⁴ And I will saturate the appetite of the priests with fatness, and my people will be satisfied with my goodness," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

⁶ Blessed are the ones who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be satisfied.

³⁷ Now on the last day of the feast—the great day—Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink,

¹ And he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming out from the throne of God and of the Lamb ² in the middle of its street, and _⌊on both sides of the river_⌋* is the tree of life, producing twelve fruits—yielding its fruit according to every month—and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. ³ And there will not be any curse any longer, and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his slaves will serve* him, ⁴ and they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. ⁵ And night will not exist any longer, and they will not have need of the light of a lamp and the light* of the sun, because the Lord God will give light to them, and they will reign _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. ⁶ And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true, and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his slaves the things which must take place in a short time." ⁷ "And behold, I am coming quickly! Worship God!" ¹⁰ And he said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near! ¹¹ The one who does evil, let him do evil still, and the defiled, let him be defiled still, and the righteous, let him practice righteousness still, and the holy, let him be holy still." ¹² "Behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me, to repay each one according to what his deeds are! ¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." ¹⁴ Blessed are the ones who wash their robes, so that their authority will be over the tree of life and they may enter into the city through the gates. ¹⁵ Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the sexually immoral people and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone who loves and who practices falsehood. ¹⁶ "I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." ¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And the one who hears, let him say, "Come!" And the one who is thirsty, let him come. The one who wants, let him take the water of life freely.*

³ when his shining lamp was over my head— by his light I walked through darkness—

¹ Of David.*
Yahweh is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the refuge of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

¹⁸ But the path of the righteous ones is like the light of dawn, leading and shining until the day _⌊is full_⌋.*

⁵ House of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.

³ And you will draw water from the wells of salvation in joy.

¹ "Arise, shine! For your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh has risen on you. ² For look! darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples, but* Yahweh will rise on you, and his glory will appear over you.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day, and for bright light the moon shall not give you light, but* Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God your glory.

¹³ "For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the source* of living water, to hew out for themselves cisterns, cracked cisterns that can hold no water.

² But for you who revere* my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like _⌊fattened calves_⌋.*

⁸ That one was not the light, but came* in order that he could testify about the light. ⁹ The true light, who gives light to every person, was coming into the world.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the gift of God and who it is who says to you, 'Give me water* to drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

¹⁴ But whoever drinks of this water which I will give to him will never be thirsty for eternity, but the water which I will give to him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."

³⁷ Now on the last day of the feast—the great day—Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink, ³⁸ the one who believes in me.* Just as the scripture said, 'Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.'"* ³⁹ Now he said this concerning the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive. For the Spirit was not yet given,* because Jesus had not yet been glorified.)

¹² Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

⁶ For God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"* is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.*

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of change.

⁹ But you are a chosen race,* a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's possession, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,

⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

⁶ And he said to me, "It is done! I am* the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water from the spring of the water of life freely.*

²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon, that they shine on it, for the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And the one who hears, let him say, "Come!" And the one who is thirsty, let him come. The one who wants, let him take the water of life freely.*

⁸ Yahweh judges the nations. O Yahweh, vindicate me according to my innocence* and according to my integrity within me. ⁹ Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous, and test the hearts and innermost being, O righteous God. ¹⁰ My shield is with God who saves the upright of heart.

¹⁰ And those who know your name will trust in you, for you do not forsake those who seek you, O Yahweh.

²⁴ Therefore Yahweh has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. ²⁵ To the loyal you show yourself loyal. To the blameless you show yourself blameless.

¹⁴ For Yahweh will not abandon his people, nor forsake his inheritance. ¹⁵ For judgment will return to righteousness,* and all the upright in heart will follow after it.

¹⁰ You who love Yahweh, hate evil. He protects the lives of his faithful; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. ¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

¹⁷ But the loyal love of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to their children's children,

¹ A psalm of David.*
O Yahweh, hear my prayer; listen to my supplications. In your faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness. ² And do not enter into judgment with your servant, because no one alive is righteous before you.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens and look to the earth beneath, for the heavens will be torn to pieces like smoke, and the earth will be worn out like a garment, and those who inhabit her will die like gnats. But* my salvation will be forever, and my righteousness will not be broken to pieces. ⁷ Listen to me, you who know righteousness, people who have my teaching in their heart; you must not fear the reproach of men, or be terrified because of their abuse. ⁸ For a moth will eat them like garments; a moth will devour* them like wool, but* my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation for _⌊generation after generation_⌋.*"

¹⁶ He judged the legal cause of the needy and the poor, and then it was well. _⌊Is that not what it means to know me_⌋?*" _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

⁷ And I will give to them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh, and _⌊they will be my people_⌋,* and _⌊I will be their God_⌋,* for they will return to me with the whole of their heart.

³ From afar Yahweh appeared to me, saying, "I have loved you with an everlasting love. _⌊Therefore_⌋* I have drawn you with loyal love.

⁹ "Just as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.

³ Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have completed the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Finally, the crown of righteousness is reserved for me, that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

¹¹ And they will not teach each one his fellow citizen and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

⁵ who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time,

¹¹ Pour out the overflowing of your anger, and look at all the proud, and humble them. ¹² Look at all the proud, humble them, and tread down the wicked _⌊where they stand_⌋.*

² In arrogance the wicked persecutes* the poor. Let them be caught in the schemes that they devised,

³ May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, the tongue speaking great boasts— ⁴ those who say, "With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are on our side. Who is master over us?" ⁵ "Because of the oppression of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the poor, now I will rise up," Yahweh says. "I shall put them in the safety for which they* long."

⁸ I have set Yahweh before me always. Because he is at my right hand I will not be shaken.

⁸ Keep me as _⌊the apple of your eye_⌋.* Hide me in the shadow of your wings ⁹ from the _⌊presence_⌋* of the wicked who destroy me, those enemies against my life, they that surround me. ¹⁰ They have shut off their calloused* heart; with their mouth they speak arrogantly. ¹¹ Now they surround us at our every step. They _⌊intend_⌋* _⌊to pin_⌋* me to the ground. ¹² _⌊He is like_⌋* a lion; he longs to tear apart, and like a strong lion crouching in hiding places. ¹³ Rise up, O Yahweh, confront _⌊him_⌋.* Make him bow down. Rescue with your sword my life from the wicked, ¹⁴ from men by your hand, O Yahweh, from men of this world. Their share is in _⌊this life_⌋,* and you fill their stomach with your treasure. They are satisfied with children. They bequeath their excess to their children.

⁷ Because the king trusts Yahweh, and through the steadfast love* of the Most High he shall not be moved. ⁸ Your hand will find all your enemies; your right hand will find those who hate you.

⁶ Only he is my rock and my salvation, my high stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

⁵¹ The arrogant utterly deride me; I have not turned aside from your law.

⁶⁹ The arrogant smear me with lies;* I keep your precepts with my whole heart.

⁸⁵ The arrogant have dug pits* for me, which is not according to* your law.

¹²² Pledge good for your servant; do not let the arrogant oppress me.

³ Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us, for long enough we have had our fill of contempt. ⁴ For long enough our soul has had its fill of the derision of the self-confident, the contempt of the arrogant.

¹ A song of ascents.*
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. ² As mountains are round about Jerusalem, so Yahweh is round about his people, from now until forever. ³ For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the _⌊land_⌋* of the righteous, lest the righteous stretch out their hands to do wickedness.*

²³ And I will put it in the hand of your tormenters, who have said to _⌊you_⌋,* 'Bow down that* we may _⌊pass_⌋* over you!' And you have _⌊made_⌋* your back like the ground, and like the street for those who _⌊pass_⌋* over you."

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and honor the king of heaven, for all his works are truth,* and his ways are justice and that he is able to humble those who walk in pride."

³⁵ Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction or distress or persecution or hunger or lack of sufficient clothing or danger or the sword? ³⁶ Just as it is written,
"On account of you we are being put to death the whole day long; we are considered as sheep for slaughter."* ³⁷ No, but in all these things we prevail completely through the one who loved us. ³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

³¹ So may all your enemies perish, O Yahweh, but those who love him are like the rising sun at its brightest."
And the land had rest for forty years.

⁵ Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

¹⁶ Yahweh has made himself known; he has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his hands. Higgaion* Selah

³⁸ I struck them and they were not able to stand up; they fell under my feet.

²³ But you, O God, you will bring them down to the pit of corruption. The men of bloodshed and deceit will not live half their days, but I will trust you.

¹⁰ The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ And people* will say, "Surely there is a _⌊reward_⌋* for the righteous. Surely there is a God who judges in the land."*

⁷ But God will shoot them; with an arrow they will suddenly be wounded. ⁸ * And they who would cause him* to stumble, their own tongue will be against them. All who gaze on them will shake.* ⁹ And then* all men* will fear, and will declare the working of God, and will understand his doing.

¹⁰ Let burning coals fall on them; let them be dropped into the fire, into bottomless pits from which they cannot rise.

⁶⁴ And you must say, 'Babylon will sink, and she will not rise, _⌊because of_⌋* the face of the disasters* that I am bringing on her, and they will grow weary.'" _⌊Thus far_⌋* the words of Jeremiah.

⁸ with burning flame* giving punishment to those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,

⁴ Who would never fear, Lord, and glorify your name? For only you are holy, because all the nations* will come and worship before you, because your righteous deeds have been revealed."

¹ After these things I heard something like the loud sound of a great crowd in heaven saying,
"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, ² because his judgments are true and righteous, because he has passed judgment on the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and has avenged the blood of his slaves _⌊shed by_⌋* her hand!" ³ And a second time they said,
"Hallelujah!"
And her smoke goes up _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. ⁴ And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying,
"Amen! Hallelujah!" ⁵ And a voice came out from the throne, saying,
"Praise our God all his slaves, and those who fear him, the small and the great!" ⁶ And I heard something like the sound of a great crowd and something like the sound of many waters and something like the sound of powerful thunder, saying,
"Hallelujah! For the Lord God,* the All-Powerful, reigns!
