¹ In you, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. ² In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me. ³ Be for me a rock of refuge to resort to always; you have ordained* to save me, because you are my rock and my fortress. ⁴ My God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, from the _⌊grasp_⌋* of the evildoer and the oppressor, ⁵ because you are my hope, O Lord Yahweh, my confidence from my youth. ⁶ Upon you I have leaned _⌊from birth_⌋.* It was you who _⌊took_⌋* me from the womb of my mother. My praise is of you continually. ⁷ I have become a wonder to many, but you are my strong refuge. ⁸ My mouth is filled with your praise, with your glory all the day. ⁹ Do not cast me away in the time of old age; when my strength fails do not abandon me. ¹⁰ For my enemies talk concerning me, and those who watch for my life conspire together, ¹¹ saying, "His God has abandoned him. Pursue and seize him, because there is no deliverer." ¹² O God, do not be far from me. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? ²⁰ You who have caused me* to see many troubles and evils, you will again revive me.* And from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. ²¹ You will increase my greatness, and you will comfort me all around.* ²² On my part, I will praise you with a stringed instrument, and your faithfulness, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel. ²³ My lips will sing for joy when I sing praises to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed. ²⁴ My tongue also will speak of your righteousness all the day, because they have been put to shame, because they have been humiliated who seek my harm.

⁵ He trusted in Yahweh the God of Israel; there was no one like him, before or after, among all the kings of Judah.

²⁰ And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hand, for they cried out to God in the battle, and he responded to their prayer because they trusted in him.

⁵ They cried to you and were saved; they trusted you and were not ashamed.

² O my God, I trust you; let me not be put to shame. Do not let my enemies exult over me. ³ Indeed, none who wait for you should be put to shame. Those who betray without cause should be put to shame.

In you, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge. Let me not be put to shame ever. Deliver me by your righteousness. ² Incline your ear to me. Quickly deliver me. Become my rock of refuge, _⌊a fortified keep_⌋* to save me. ³ For you are my rock and my fortress. So, for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me.

¹ A song of ascents.*
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

⁵ Blessed is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is on Yahweh as his God,

¹⁷ Israel is saved by Yahweh with everlasting salvation; you shall not be ashamed, and you shall not be humiliated _⌊to all eternity_⌋.*

¹⁸ Let my persecutors be put to shame, _⌊but as for me_⌋,* do not let me be put to shame. Let them be dismayed, _⌊but as for me_⌋,* do not let me be dismayed. Bring on them the day of disaster, and with double destruction, destroy them.

³³ just as it is written,
"Behold, I am laying in Zion _⌊a stone that causes people to stumble_⌋*, and _⌊a rock that causes them to fall_⌋*, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame."*

"Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame."*

¹⁷ The longing of the afflicted you have heard, O Yahweh. You will make their heart secure. You will _⌊listen attentively_⌋* ¹⁸ to render judgment for the fatherless and the oppressed so that a mere mortal from the earth will no longer cause terror.

² Let my vindication come forth from you; let your eyes see fairness.

⁶ As for me, I have called on you because you will answer me, O God. Incline your ear to me. Hear my words.*

¹⁵ The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous, and his ears toward their cry for help.

¹ Judge me, O God, and plead my case against* an unfaithful* nation. From a man of deceit and wickedness rescue me,

¹ I love him, because Yahweh has heard _⌊the voice of my supplications_⌋.* ² Because he has inclined his ear to me, I will call _⌊all my days_⌋.*

O Yahweh, hear my prayer; listen to my supplications. In your faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness.

¹¹ For your name's sake, O Yahweh, preserve my life; in your righteousness bring me* out of trouble.

¹⁶ Lord, according to all your righteousness, please let your anger and your rage turn away from your city Jerusalem, _⌊your holy mountain_⌋,* because through our sins and through the iniquities of our ancestors* Jerusalem and your people have become an object of mockery among all of our neighbors.

¹³ Temptation has not come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also make a way out together with the temptation, so that you may be able to endure it.

²⁷ The God of _⌊ancient time_⌋* is a hiding place, and underneath are the arms of eternity,* and he drove out _⌊from before_⌋* you your enemy, and he said, 'Destroy them!'

² Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I have taken refuge, my shield and the horn of my deliverance, my stronghold.

⁸ By day Yahweh commands his loyal love, and in the night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

⁴ You are my king, O God. Command* victories for Jacob.

²⁸ Your God has commanded your strength. Show yourself strong, O God, by what you perform* for us.

¹ A prayer of Moses, the man of God.*
O Lord, you have been our help* _⌊in all generations_⌋.*

¹ One who lives in the secret place* of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of Shaddai.* ² I will say to Yahweh, "You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."

⁹ For you, O Yahweh, are my refuge. You have made the Most High your dwelling place.*

¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. ¹² In their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

² my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples* under me.

¹⁰ A tower of strength is the name of Yahweh; into him* the righteous will run and be safe.

¹⁶ That one will live on the heights; the fortresses of rocks will be his refuge. His food will be given; his waters* will endure.

⁶ You must kill _⌊totally_⌋* old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but _⌊concerning_⌋* every man _⌊with the mark on him_⌋* you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who _⌊were before_⌋* the house.*

² And I saw another angel ascending _⌊from the east_⌋*, holding the seal of the living God, and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels _⌊who were given permission_⌋* to damage the earth and the sea, ³ saying, "Do not damage the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the slaves of our God on their foreheads."

²¹ And Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go to the concubines of your father whom he left behind to watch over the house, then all of Israel will hear that you made yourself odious to your father, and _⌊all of your followers will be motivated_⌋!"* ²² Then they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he went in to the concubines of his father before the eyes of all Israel.

¹ Then Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Please let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will set out and pursue after David _⌊tonight_⌋.* ² I will come upon him while he is weary and _⌊weak_⌋.* I will startle him, and all of the people who are with him will flee. Then I will strike down the king while he is alone.

¹² Then we will come to him in one of the places where he may be found, and we shall come upon him as the dew falls on the ground. He and all the men who are with him will not survive, not even one! ¹³ Even if he withdraws to a city, all Israel will bring up ropes to that city, and they will drag him away to the valley until there is not even a pebble to be found." ¹⁴ Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than the advice of Ahithophel." (Now Yahweh had ordained to frustrate the good counsel of Ahithophel in order for Yahweh to bring misery upon Absalom).

²¹ After they left, they came up from the well and went and told King David. They said to David, "Set out and cross over the water quickly, for thus Ahithophel has advised against you."

⁸ Keep me as _⌊the apple of your eye_⌋.* Hide me in the shadow of your wings ⁹ from the _⌊presence_⌋* of the wicked who destroy me, those enemies against my life, they that surround me.

¹³ Rise up, O Yahweh, confront _⌊him_⌋.* Make him bow down. Rescue with your sword my life from the wicked,

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God. Protect* me from those who rise up against me. ² Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and from men of bloodshed save me.

Rescue me, O Yahweh, from evil men.* Preserve me from violent men, ² who plan evil things in their heart. They stir up wars continually. ³ They sharpen their tongue as sharp as a snake's; the venom of a viper is under their lips. Selah ⁴ Protect me, O Yahweh, from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from violent men, who have planned to _⌊make me stumble_⌋.*

¹³ So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. Then the Spirit of Yahweh rushed upon David from that day _⌊on_⌋.* Then Samuel got up and went to Ramah.

³³ But Saul said to David, "You will not be able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, because you are only a boy, whereas he has been a man of war since his childhood!" ³⁴ And David said to Saul, "Your servant has been a shepherd of the flock for his father. If the lion or the bear would come and carry off a sheep from the group, ³⁵ I would go out after it and strike it down and rescue the sheep from its mouth. If it rose against me, I would grab it by its beard and strike it down and kill it. ³⁶ Your servant has struck down both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he defied the battle lines of the living God." ³⁷ And David said, "Yahweh, who rescued me from the hand of the lion and from the hand of the bear, will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine!" Then Saul said to David, "Go and may Yahweh be with you!"

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, "You are coming to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I am coming to you in the name of Yahweh of hosts, the God of the battle lines of Israel, whom you have defied! ⁴⁶ This day Yahweh will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down _⌊and cut off your head_⌋!* Then I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of heaven and to the animals of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God who is for Israel. ⁴⁷ And all of this assembly will know that Yahweh does not rescue with sword or with spear, for the battle belongs to Yahweh, and he will give you into our hands!"

⁵ But as for me, I have trusted in your steadfast love.* My heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

⁹ Yet you took me from the belly; you made me trust while on my mother's breasts. ¹⁰ On you I was cast from the womb. From my mother's belly you have been my God.

⁷ And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is for you.

¹¹ Why are you _⌊in despair_⌋,* O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, because I shall again praise him, _⌊my salvation_⌋* and my God.

¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth, and up to now I have proclaimed your wonderful deeds.

⁸¹ My soul languishes for your salvation; I hope in your word.

¹⁶⁶ I hope for your salvation, O Yahweh, and do your commands.

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!"

⁸ You are the hope of Israel, its savior in time of distress. Why should you be like an alien in the land, or like a traveler who spreads out his tent * to spend the night?

⁷ Blessed be the person who trusts in Yahweh, and Yahweh is his trust.

¹³ O Yahweh, the hope of Israel, all those who forsake you will be put to shame, and those who turn aside from you in the earth will be recorded, for they have forsaken the fountain of living water, Yahweh.

¹⁷ You must not become to me a terror, you are my refuge in the day of disaster.

⁷ All those who found them have devoured them. And their foes have said, 'We are not guilty, _⌊because_⌋* they have sinned against Yahweh, the _⌊true pasture_⌋,* even Yahweh, the hope of their ancestors.'*

⁴⁰ And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the holy writings that are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

¹ Of David, when he _⌊pretended to be crazy_⌋* in front of Abimelech* so that he drove him out, and so he departed.*
I will bless Yahweh at all times; his praise shall be in my mouth continually.

¹⁴ But as for me, I will hope continually and increase your praise.

¹⁵ My _⌊frame_⌋* was not hidden from you, when I was created secretly,* and intricately woven in the depths of the earth. ¹⁶ Your eyes saw my embryo,* and in your book they all were written— days fashioned for me when there was not one of them.

I will exalt you, my God, O king, and I will bless* your name forever and ever. ² Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.

¹⁷ I love _⌊those who love me_⌋,* and those who seek me diligently shall find me.

³ "Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel who have been carried from the belly, who have been carried from the womb: ⁴ Even* to your old age I am he; even* to your advanced age I myself will support you. I myself have made you, and I myself will carry you, and I myself will support you, and I will save you.

¹ Listen to me, coastlands, and listen attentively, peoples from far away! Yahweh called me from the womb; from the _⌊body_⌋* of my mother he made my name known.

⁵ And now Yahweh says, who formed me from the womb as a servant for him, to bring Jacob back to him, and that Israel might not* be gathered, for* I am honored in the eyes of Yahweh, and my God has become my strength.

⁵ "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you came out from the womb I consecrated you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

⁴ Have you not just now called to me, 'My father, you are the close friend of my youth?

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in the womb and will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus. ³² This one will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

¹⁵ But when the one who set me apart* from my mother's womb and called me by his grace was pleased

²⁰ giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to the God and Father,

³ For you have been my refuge, a strong tower from the enemy.

⁷ On God rests my salvation and my glory; God* is my strong rock, my refuge.

⁴ look to my right and see. There is no one looking out for me; there is no escape for me;* no one cares for my soul.* ⁵ I cry out to you, O Yahweh. I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

¹⁸ Look! I and the children whom Yahweh has given to me are like signs and portents in Israel from Yahweh of hosts, the one who dwells on the mountain of Zion.

¹⁹ O Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth, and they will say, "Our ancestors* have inherited only lies,* vanity, and there is no profit in them.

⁶ And the angel of Yahweh assured Joshua, saying,

³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed*—

¹³ Now when they* saw the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were astonished, and recognized them, that they had been with Jesus.

⁹ For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as condemned to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world and to angels and to people.

⁸ We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; ⁹ persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always carrying around the death of Jesus in our body, in order that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. ¹¹ For we who are alive are continually being handed over to death because of Jesus, in order that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh. ¹² So then, death is at work in us, but life in you.

⁸ through glory and dishonor, through slander and good repute, regarded as deceivers and yet truthful, ⁹ as unknown and yet known completely, as dying, and behold, we go on living, as disciplined, and yet not put to death, ¹⁰ as grieving, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and possessing everything.

²⁸ Then my tongue will proclaim your righteousness, and your praise all day.

¹⁴ Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation; then my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. ¹⁵ O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will proclaim your praise.

⁵ My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.

¹⁵ My mouth will tell of your righteousness, your salvation _⌊all day long_⌋,* though I do not know the full sum of them.

²⁴ My tongue also will speak of your righteousness all the day, because they have been put to shame, because they have been humiliated who seek my harm.

⁶ Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

¹ Bless Yahweh, O my soul. O Yahweh my God, you are very great. You clothe yourself with splendor and majesty,

² I will praise Yahweh while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I am still alive.

³⁵ I am eighty years old today. Can I discern between good and bad? Or can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Or can I still hear the voice of singing men and women? Why should your servant be a burden any longer to my lord the king?

¹⁵ There was war again for the Philistines with Israel, and David and his servants with him went down, and they fought the Philistines, and David grew weary. ¹⁶ Now Yishbi in Nob, who was among the descendents of Raphah* (now the weight of his spearhead was three hundredweight of bronze, and he was newly armed), said that he would kill David. ¹⁷ But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and he attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, "You shall not go out with us any longer to the battle, so that you do not quench the lamp of Israel."

¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your _⌊strength_⌋* to this generation, your power to every one that comes after.

²⁶ My flesh and heart failed, but God is the _⌊strength_⌋* of my heart and my reward forever.

¹⁰ As for the days of our years, within them are seventy years or if by strength eighty years, and their pride* is trouble and disaster, for it passes quickly and we fly away.

¹³ Planted in the house* of Yahweh, they will flourish in the courts of our God. ¹⁴ They will still prosper in old age. They will be fat and luxuriant,* ¹⁵ to declare that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no injustice* in him.

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!" ² Before the sun, the light, the moon, and the stars darken and the clouds return after the rain. ³ When the guards of the house tremble, and the men of strength are bent; the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows see dimly. ⁴ When the doors on the street are shut, when the sound of the grinding mill is low; one rises up to the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song are brought low. ⁵ They are afraid of heights, and terrors are on the road. The almond tree blossoms, and the grasshopper draws itself along, and desire fails because man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about in the streets. ⁶ Before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is broken; and the jar at the foundation is broken, and the wheel at the cistern is broken. ⁷ And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the breath returns to God who gave it.

⁴ Even* to your old age I am he; even* to your advanced age I myself will support you. I myself have made you, and I myself will carry you, and I myself will support you, and I will save you.

¹² for which reason also I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know in whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted until that day.

¹⁸ The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will save me for his heavenly kingdom, to whom be the glory _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. Amen.

¹¹ Then Saul sent messengers to David's house to guard him and to kill him in the morning, but Michal his wife told David, saying, "If _⌊you do not save your life_⌋* tonight, then tomorrow you will be killed!"

¹ Then Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Please let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will set out and pursue after David _⌊tonight_⌋.* ² I will come upon him while he is weary and _⌊weak_⌋.* I will startle him, and all of the people who are with him will flee. Then I will strike down the king while he is alone. ³ Then I will return all the people to you; when all have returned, the man whom you are seeking will be dead,* but all the people will be safe." ⁴ The word was right in the eyes of Absalom and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel. ⁵ Then Absalom said, "Please call also for Hushai the Arkite, and let us hear _⌊what he has to say_⌋* also." ⁶ So Hushai came to Absalom, who said to him, "Shall we do according to this word that Ahithophel has spoken? If not, then you tell us." ⁷ Then Hushai said to Absalom, "The counsel that Ahithophel gave is not good _⌊at this time_⌋."* ⁸ Hushai continued, "You know your father and his men, that they are mighty warriors and they _⌊are enraged_⌋* as a bear robbed of her offspring in the field. Your father is a man of war, so he will not spend the night with the troops. ⁹ Now he has hidden himself in one of the caves or in one of the places. At the moment he falls on them* the first time, _⌊whoever hears_⌋* the report will say, 'There has been a defeat among the people who follow after Absalom.' ¹⁰ And he is also a _⌊valiant warrior_⌋,* whose heart is like the heart of the lion. He* will _⌊certainly melt_⌋* with fear, for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty warrior and those who are with him are _⌊valiant warriors_⌋.* ¹¹ I give the advice that all of Israel from Dan to Beersheba should be completely gathered to you, as the sand which is on the seashore for abundance, with _⌊you personally_⌋* going into the battle.

² The kings of the earth establish themselves, and the rulers conspire* together against Yahweh and his anointed:

⁹ He lies in ambush _⌊secretly,_⌋* like a lion in a thicket. He lies in ambush to seize the poor; he seizes the poor by catching him in his net.

¹³ For I hear the rumor of many, "Terror on every side!" When conspiring together against me, they have plotted to take my life.

³² The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to kill him. ³³ Yahweh will not abandon him into his hand, and he will not let him be condemned when he is judged.

⁶ They attack,* they hide, they watch my _⌊steps_⌋,* as they lie in wait for my life.

³ They devise cunning schemes* against your people, and consult together against your protected ones.*

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us! We shall lie in wait for blood; we shall ambush the innocent without cause.*

¹⁰ For I hear the rumor of many, "Terror is from all around, denounce him,* yes, let us denounce him!" _⌊All my close friends_⌋* are watchers of my stumbling, saying, "perhaps he can be persuaded, and we can prevail over him, and we can take our revenge on him."

³ Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas, ⁴ and plotted in order that they could arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.*

¹ Now when it* was early morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus in order to put him to death.

¹³ Do you not know what I have done, I and my ancestors,* to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of all the lands at all able to save their land from my hand? ¹⁴ Who among all the gods of those nations whom my ancestors* utterly destroyed was able to save his people from my hand, that your God will be able to save you from my hand?

² Many are saying about my soul, "There is no deliverance for him from* God. Selah*

² Or else he will tear me apart like a lion, ripping to pieces, with none to deliver.

²⁵ I was a youth, but I am now old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children _⌊begging for_⌋* bread.

²⁸ For Yahweh loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones. They are protected forever. But the children of the wicked will be cut off.

⁷ All who hate me speak together against me. Against me they assume the _⌊worst_⌋* for me: ⁸ "A ruinous thing is poured out on him, and now that he lies down, he will not rise up again."

¹⁰ As with a shattering in my bones my oppressors taunt me, while they say to me _⌊all day_⌋,* "Where is your God?"

²² Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there will be none to deliver.

¹⁵ Now if you are ready so that _⌊when_⌋* you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and the drum and all kinds of music, you fall down and you worship the statue that I have made, that will be good. But if you do not worship it, _⌊immediately_⌋* you will be thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire, and _⌊who is the god_⌋* who* will rescue you from my hands?"

⁴² "He saved others; he is not able to save himself! He is the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him! ⁴³ He trusts in God; let him deliver him now if he wants to,* because he said, 'I am the Son of God'!"

⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" (that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?")*

⁴⁹ But the others said, "Leave him* alone! let us see if Elijah is coming to save him."

¹ Why, O Yahweh, do you stand far off? Why do you hide* during times of distress?

¹¹ Do not be far from me because trouble is near; because there is no helper.

¹⁹ But you, O Yahweh, do not remain distant. O my help, hasten to help me.

²² You have seen, O Yahweh. Do not be deaf. O Lord, do not be far from me.

²¹ Do not forsake me, O Yahweh. O my God, do not be far from me. ²² Hurry to help me, O Lord, my salvation.

¹³ Be pleased, O Yahweh, to deliver me. O Yahweh, hurry to help me.

¹⁸ Draw near to my soul; redeem it. Because of my enemies, ransom me.

O God, make haste to deliver me. O Yahweh, make haste to help me. ² Let them be ashamed and abashed who seek my life. Let them be repulsed and humiliated who desire my harm.

⁵ But I am poor and needy; O God hasten to me. You are my help and my deliverer. O Yahweh, do not delay.

⁷ Quickly answer me, O Yahweh; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me, or I will become like those descending to the pit.

² the Jews gathered in their cities in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus _⌊to strike against_⌋* those who sought their destruction, and no one could withstand them,* as the fear of them fell on all the people.

¹⁰ All my enemies shall be ashamed and shall be very terrified. They shall turn back; they shall suddenly be ashamed.

⁴ Let those who seek my life be shamed and humiliated. Let those who plot calamity against me be repulsed and ashamed.

²⁶ Let them be shamed and abashed altogether, who rejoice at my misfortune. Let them put on shame and insult, who magnify themselves against me.

¹⁴ Let them be shamed and abashed altogether who seek to take away my life.* Let them be repulsed and humiliated who desire my harm. ¹⁵ Let them be appalled because of their shame, those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"

²⁹ Let my accusers put on disgrace, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a robe.

¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on him his crown will flourish."*

¹¹ Look! All those who are angry with you shall be ashamed and humiliated; _⌊your opponents_⌋* shall be like nothing and shall become lost.

¹¹ But Yahweh is with me like a powerful warrior. _⌊Therefore_⌋* my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. They will be very ashamed, for they will not achieve success. Their _⌊everlasting insult_⌋* will not be forgotten.

⁵ In the same way, younger men, be subject to the elders, and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

¹⁵ Look,* though he kill me, I will hope in* him; however, I will defend my ways _⌊before him_⌋.*

⁵ Why are you _⌊in despair_⌋,* O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, because I will again praise him, _⌊my salvation_⌋* and my God.

⁶ Upon you I have leaned _⌊from birth_⌋.* It was you who _⌊took_⌋* me from the womb of my mother. My praise is of you continually.

⁷ O Israel, wait* for Yahweh. For with Yahweh there is loyal love, and with him there is abundant redemption.

²¹ This _⌊I have reminded myself_⌋,* therefore I will hope.

²⁶ It is good to wait in silence for the salvation of Yahweh.

⁹ And this I pray: that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

¹⁰ for indeed you are practicing it toward all the brothers in all of Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to progress even more,

³⁵ Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has great reward.

¹³ Therefore, _⌊when you have prepared your minds for action_⌋* by* being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

³ And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure.

²² I will tell your name to my brothers; inside the assembly I will praise you. ²³ You who revere Yahweh, praise him! Glorify him, all you seed of Jacob, and be in awe of him, all you seed of Israel, ²⁴ because he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and has not hid his face from him; but he listened to him when he cried for help. ²⁵ From you is my praise. In the great assembly, I will pay my vows before those who revere him.

¹² so that _⌊I_⌋* may sing praises to you and not be quiet. O Yahweh, my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

⁵ Many things, O Yahweh my God, you have done— your wonderful deeds and your thoughts toward us. There is none to compare with you. If I tried to proclaim and tell of them, they would be too numerous to count.

⁹ I have brought good tidings of righteousness in the great congregation. Look, I have not shut my lips. O Yahweh, _⌊you surely know that_⌋.* ¹⁰ Your righteousness I have not hidden in the midst of my heart. I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loyal love or your faithfulness from the great congregation.

¹² For evils without number have encompassed me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.

⁸ My mouth is filled with your praise, with your glory all the day.

¹⁶ In your name they rejoice all the day, and in your righteousness they rise up.

¹⁷ And to me, how precious* are your thoughts, O God; how vast is their sum. ¹⁸ If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. I awaken, and I am still with you.

² Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.

⁵ On the splendor of the glory of your majesty, and on your wonderful deeds, I will meditate. ⁶ And they will speak of the power of your awesome deeds,* and I will tell of your greatness.* ⁷ They will utter * the renown of your abundant goodness, and they will proclaim with joy your righteousness. ⁸ Yahweh is gracious and compassionate, _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and great in loyal love. ⁹ Yahweh is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works. ¹⁰ All your works will praise you, O Yahweh, and your faithful ones will bless* you. ¹¹ They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk of your power, ¹² to make known to the children of humankind his mighty deeds, and the glory of the majesty of his kingdom. ¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures _⌊throughout all generations_⌋.* ¹⁴ Yahweh upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.

²⁵ Your bars are* iron and bronze, and as your days, so is* your strength."

¹¹ May Yahweh give strength to his people. May Yahweh bless his people with peace.

¹⁴ Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation; then my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.

² In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me.

¹⁹ And your righteousness, O God, is to the height of heaven. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you?

² Who can utter the mighty deeds of Yahweh, or proclaim all his praise?

¹³ Yahweh, our God, lords besides you ruled over us, _⌊but we praise your name alone_⌋.*

³¹ But* those who wait for Yahweh shall renew their strength. They shall go up with wings* like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not be faint.

²⁴ 'Only in Yahweh,' one shall say to me, 'are righteousness and strength.' He shall come to him, and all those who were angry with him shall be ashamed. ²⁵ In Yahweh all the offspring of Israel shall be in the right, and they shall boast."

⁷ I will mention the loyal love of Yahweh, the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has done for us, and the greatness of goodness to the house of Israel that he has done to them according to his mercy and the abundance of his loyal love.

¹² I will make them strong in Yahweh, and in his name they will walk, _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

³³ But seek first his kingdom and righteousness,* and all these things will be added to you.

¹⁷ For the righteousness of God is revealed in it from faith to faith, just as it is written, "But the one who is righteous by faith will live."*

²¹ But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified about by the law and the prophets—

³ For ignoring the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own,* they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹⁶ that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,

¹⁰ Finally, become strong in the Lord and in the might of his strength.

⁹ and may be found in him, not having my righteousness which is from the law, but which is through faith in Christ,* the righteousness from God on the basis of faith,*

¹³ I am able to do all things by the one who strengthens me.

⁶ since it is righteous in the sight of God to pay back those who are afflicting you with affliction,

¹ You, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus,

⁵ See, I now teach* you rules and regulations just as Yahweh my God has commanded me, to observe them just so in the midst of the land where you are going, to take possession of it.

⁹ Then David answered Recab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and he said to them, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋,* who redeemed my soul from all trouble,

¹ Then David spoke to Yahweh the words of this song,* on the day Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. ² And he said: "Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ I take refuge in God, my rock,* my shield, and the _⌊strength_⌋* of my salvation. My stronghold and my refuge, O my savior, you will save me from violence! ⁴ I call upon Yahweh who is praiseworthy, and I am saved from those who hate me. ⁵ For the breaker waves of death engulfed me; the currents of chaos overwhelmed me. ⁶ The ropes of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. ⁷ In my distress I called upon Yahweh, and to my God I called. He heard my voice from his temple, and my cry for help was to his ears. ⁸ The earth heaved and shook, the foundations of heaven trembled and heaved because _⌊he was angry_⌋.* ⁹ Smoke went up from his nostrils and fire from his mouth. Burning coals devoured, they burned from him. ¹⁰ He bowed the heavens and came down; a very thick cloud was under his feet. ¹¹ He rode upon a cherub and flew; he was seen on the wings of the wind. ¹² He put darkness as a canopy all around him, a collection of _⌊thick rain clouds_⌋.* ¹³ From the brightness before him flamed burning coals of fire. ¹⁴ Yahweh thundered from heaven, and the Most High _⌊uttered his voice_⌋.* ¹⁵ He sent arrows and he scattered them, lightning, and he directed them. ¹⁶ Then the channels of water of the sea were exposed, the foundations of the world, at the rebuke of Yawheh, from the blast of the breath of his nostrils. ¹⁷ He sent from a high position and took me; he drew me from mighty waters. ¹⁸ He delivered me from my strong enemies, from those who hate me, for they were mightier than I. ¹⁹ They approached me on the day of my disaster, but Yahweh was my support. ²⁰ He brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. ²¹ Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands he recompensed me. ²² For I have kept the ways of Yahweh; I have not acted wickedly against my God. ²³ For all of his ordinances were before me, and I did not turn aside from his statutes. ²⁴ I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Yahweh has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes. ²⁶ With the loyal, you act as loyal, and with the blameless, you show yourself blameless. ²⁷ With the pure, you show yourself pure, but with the crooked, you appear as a fool. ²⁸ Humble people you will deliver, but your eyes are on the haughty, whom you bring down. ²⁹ For you, O Yahweh are my lamp, and Yahweh lightens my darkness. ³⁰ For by you I can run a raid; by my God I can leap over a wall. ³¹ This God, his way is blameless; the promise of Yahweh is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in him. ³² For who is God apart from Yahweh? And who is a rock apart from our God? ³³ God is my strong refuge, he has fully opened my way.* ³⁴ He makes my feet* like a doe deer, and on my high places he has set me. ³⁵ He trains my hands for the war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ³⁶ You have given me the shield of your salvation; your willingness to help has made me great. ³⁷ You have broadened my steps beneath me; my ankles have not wobbled. ³⁸ I pursued those who hate me, and I destroyed them. I did not turn back until finishing them. ³⁹ I wiped them out and I smashed them; they did not get up; they fell under my feet. ⁴⁰ You have girded me with physical strength for the battle; you caused those who rose up against me to kneel under me. ⁴¹ _⌊My enemies you cause to retreat from me_⌋;* I destroy those who hate me. ⁴² They looked out, but there was no deliverer, even to Yahweh, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ I beat them fine, like the dust of the earth; like the mire of the streets, I crushed them, I stamped them down. ⁴⁴ You delivered me from the strife of my people; you preserved me as the head of the nations. A people I had not known served me. ⁴⁵ Children of a foreign land came cringing to me; _⌊when they heard of me_⌋,* they became obedient to me. ⁴⁶ Children of a foreign land lost heart and came trembling from their strongholds. ⁴⁷ Yahweh lives! Blessed be my rock! May God, the rock of my salvation, be exalted! ⁴⁸ God does vengeance for me, bringing down peoples under me. ⁴⁹ He brings me out from my enemies, and from those who rose up against me you lift me up, and from men of violence you rescue me. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will extol you, Yahweh, among the nations! I will sing praises to your name! ⁵¹ He makes great salvation for his king and shows loyal love to his anointed one, David and to his descendants forever."

⁴ Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to invoke, thank, and praise Yahweh the God of Israel. ⁵ Asaph was chief, and his second was Zechariah; Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel were on harps and lyres. And Asaph played on the cymbals. ⁶ And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests blew on the trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God. ⁷ Then on that day David first appointed to give thanks to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers. ⁸ Give thanks to Yahweh; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the nations! ⁹ Sing to him; sing praises to him; tell of his wondrous works! ¹⁰ Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those seeking Yahweh rejoice! ¹¹ Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually! ¹² Remember his wonderful works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth, ¹³ O offspring of Israel, his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! ¹⁴ He is Yahweh our God; his judgments are in all the earth. ¹⁵ Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations, ¹⁶ that he _⌊made_⌋* with Abraham, his sworn oath to Isaac. ¹⁷ And he confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, an everlasting covenant to Israel, ¹⁸ saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance." ¹⁹ When you were few in number, little, and sojourners were in it, ²⁰ when they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people, ²¹ he did not allow anyone to oppress them, and he rebuked kings on their account, ²² saying, "You must not touch my anointed nor do harm to my prophets!" ²³ Sing to Yahweh, all the earth! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! ²⁴ Proclaim his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among the peoples! ²⁵ For Yahweh is great and greatly praised, and he is feared among all gods. ²⁶ For all the gods of the nations are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens. ²⁷ Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. ²⁸ Ascribe to Yahweh, O clans of the nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength! ²⁹ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of his name! Lift up an offering and come before him! Bow down to Yahweh in the splendor of holiness! ³⁰ Tremble before him, all the earth; surely the world shall not be shaken. ³¹ Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad, and let them tell the peoples, "Yahweh reigns!" ³² Let the sea roar and its fullness; let the field rejoice and all that is in it. ³³ Then the trees of the forest shall sing for joy before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. ³⁴ Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good; his loyal love is everlasting. ³⁵ Then say, "Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us and rescue us from the nations that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. ³⁶ Blessed be Yahweh the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!"
Then all the people said, "Amen!" and praised Yahweh.

⁷ to declare with a voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous deeds.

¹⁶ Come and hear, all you God-fearers, and I will tell what he has done for me.*

⁵ because you are my hope, O Lord Yahweh, my confidence from my youth.

⁹ How can a young man keep his way pure? By taking heed according to your word.

¹⁰² I have not turned aside from your ordinances, for you have taught me.

¹ And it happened that when Isaac was old and _⌊his eyesight was weak_⌋,* he called Esau his older son and said to him, "My son." And he* said to him, "Here I am."

⁸ And you shall tell your son on that day, saying, 'This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I came out from Egypt.'

¹⁴ And when your son asks you _⌊in the future_⌋,* saying, 'What is this?' you will say to him, 'With strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from a house of slaves. ¹⁵ And when Pharaoh was stubborn to release us, Yahweh killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from firstborn human to firstborn domestic animal. Therefore I am sacrificing to Yahweh every first offspring of a womb, the males, and every firstborn of my sons I redeem.' ¹⁶ And it will be as a sign on your hand and as symbolic ornaments between your eyes that with strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt." ¹⁷ And when Pharaoh released the people, God did not lead them the way of the land of the Philistines, though it was nearer, because God said, "Lest the people change their mind when they see war and return to Egypt."

¹⁵ Now Eli was _⌊ninety-eight years old_⌋* and his eyes _⌊stayed fixed ahead_⌋* and he was not able to see.

¹⁸ Just as he mentioned the ark of God, he* fell from his chair backwards against the side of the gate. He broke his neck and died, because the man was old and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years.

¹⁰ Then David blessed Yahweh in the sight of all the assembly, and David said, "Blessed are you, O Yahweh, God of Israel, our father forever and ever! ¹¹ To you, O Yahweh, is the greatness and the power and the splendor and the glory and the strength, for everything in the heavens and in the earth. Yours, O Yahweh, is the kingdom and exaltation over all as head! ¹² And wealth and glory are from you, and you rule over all. And in your hand is power and might. And in your hand is power to make great and to give strength to all. ¹³ And now, our God, we give thanks to you and offer praise to the name of your splendor. ¹⁴ And indeed, who am I, and who are my people that we retain power to offer according to these offerings willingly? For everything is from you, and from your hand we have given to you. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before you and sojourners like all our ancestors.* Our days are like the shadow upon earth, and there is no hope of abiding. ¹⁶ O Yahweh our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build for you a house for your holy name is from your hand, and all of it is yours. ¹⁷ And I know, my God, that you yourself test the heart and are pleased with uprightness. I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things, and now I have seen your people who are found here willingly offer to you. ¹⁸ O Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors,* keep this forever as a plan and thoughts of the heart of your people, and establish their heart toward you. ¹⁹ Grant to Solomon my son a heart of peace to keep your commands, your statutes, and your regulations to do everything, and to build the citadel for which I have provided." ²⁰ And David said to all the assembly, "Bless Yahweh your God!" And all the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their ancestors.* And they bowed down and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king. ²¹ And they offered sacrifices to Yahweh, and on that next day they offered burnt offerings to Yahweh: one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, one thousand lambs, with their libations and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. ²² And they ate and drank before Yahweh on that day with great joy. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and they anointed him commander for Yahweh, and Zadok the priest. ²³ Then Solomon sat upon the throne of Yahweh as king in place of David his father. And he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ And all the officials and mighty warriors, and also all the sons of King David, _⌊pledged allegiance to_⌋* King Solomon. ²⁵ And Yahweh made Solomon exceedingly great in the sight of all Israel, and he bestowed upon him royal splendor that was not bestowed upon any king before him in Israel. ²⁶ And David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. ²⁷ And the days that he reigned over Israel were forty years. In Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years. ²⁸ And he died in a good old age, full of days, wealth, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place. ²⁹ Now the words of King David, from the first to the last, see, they are written among the words of Samuel the seer, and among the words of Nathan the prophet, and among the words of Gad the seer, ³⁰ with all the accounts of his kingdom, his power, and the times that came upon him, and upon Israel, and upon all the kingdoms of the earth.

³¹ They will come and tell his saving* deeds to a people yet to be born, that he has done it.

⁹ Do not cast me away in the time of old age; when my strength fails do not abandon me.

⁴ We will not hide them from their children,* telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh, and his power and his wonders that he has done.

⁶ so that the next generation might know— children yet to be born— that they might rise up and tell their children,

⁴ One generation will laud your works to another, and will declare your mighty deeds. ⁵ On the splendor of the glory of your majesty, and on your wonderful deeds, I will meditate.

⁹ Awake! Awake; put on strength, O arm of Yahweh! Awake as in days of long ago, the generations of a long time back! Are you not the one who cut Rahab in pieces, the one who pierced the sea-dragon?

¹ Who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?

³⁶ For David, after* serving the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and _⌊was buried with_⌋* his fathers, and experienced decay.

¹¹ Who is like you among the gods, Yahweh? Who is like you—glorious in holiness, awesome in praiseworthy actions, doing wonders?*

⁹ He is doing great and _⌊unsearchable_⌋* things, marvelous things _⌊without number_⌋*—

¹⁰ All of my bones shall say, "O Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from one stronger than he and the poor and needy from the one who robs him?"

⁵ O Yahweh, your loyal love extends into the heavens, your faithfulness unto the clouds. ⁶ Your righteousness is _⌊like the mighty mountains_⌋,* your judgments like the great deep. You save man and beast, O Yahweh.

¹⁰ Because your loyal love is high to the heavens, and your faithfulness to the clouds.

¹⁸ Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful things.

⁸ There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, and there are no works like yours.

⁶ For who in the sky* is equal to Yahweh? Who is like Yahweh among the sons of God, ⁷ a God feared greatly in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all surrounding him? ⁸ O Yahweh God of hosts, who is mighty like you, O Yah, with* your faithfulness surrounding you?

² Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with rejoicing. Then they said among the nations, "Yahweh has done great things for these people." ³ Yahweh has done great things for us; we are glad.

⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is set high; I cannot prevail against it.

²⁴ The path of life leads upward for him who has insight, in order to turn away from Sheol below.

⁷ Wisdom is too high for fools; at the gate he will not open his mouth.

¹⁶ But Yahweh of hosts is exalted by justice, and the holy God shows himself holy by righteousness.

¹⁸ And to whom will you liken God? And to what likeness will you compare him?

²⁵ "And to whom you will compare me, and am I equal?" says the holy one.

⁹ "For as the heavens are _⌊higher_⌋* than the earth, so my ways are _⌊higher_⌋* than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

⁷ Who would not revere you, O king of the nations? For you it is fitting. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms,* there is none like you.

⁴⁹ because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.

¹¹ Thus says Yahweh, 'Look, I am going to raise up evil against you from within your house, and I will take your women before your eyes, and I will give them to your neighbor, and he shall sleep with your wives _⌊in broad daylight_⌋.*

¹⁰ for you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see the grave.

I waited patiently for Yahweh, And he inclined to me and heard my cry for help. ² And so he brought me up from the roaring pit,* from the miry clay. And he put my feet upon a rock; he made my steps steady. ³ Then he put a new song in my mouth, a praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and will trust Yahweh.

³ You have shown your people hard things; You have given us wine that staggers.

¹⁰ For you have tested us, O God; you have tried us as silver is tried. ¹¹ You brought us into the net; you placed a _⌊heavy burden_⌋* on our backs. ¹² You let men* ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, but you have brought us out to the place of abundance.*

¹⁸ Then we will not turn back from you. Restore us to life, and we will proclaim your name.

⁶ Will you not again revive us, that your people might rejoice in you?

¹³ because your loyal love is great toward me, and you will have delivered my life from Sheol* below.

⁶ You have set me in the pit below, in dark places, in the depths. ⁷ Your wrath presses upon me, and you afflict me with all your waves. Selah ⁸ You have removed my acquaintances far from me. You have made me detestable* to them. I am confined and cannot go out. ⁹ My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O Yahweh, every day; I spread out my hands* to you. ¹⁰ Do you work wonders* for the dead? Or do the departed spirits* rise up to praise you? Selah ¹¹ Is your loyal love told in the grave, or your faithfulness in the underworld?* ¹² Are your wonders* known in the darkness, or your righteousness* in the land of forgetfulness? ¹³ But as for me, I cry for help to you, O Yahweh, and in the morning my prayer comes before you. ¹⁴ Why do you reject my soul, O Yahweh? Why do you hide your face from me? ¹⁵ I am afflicted and perishing from my youth. I bear your terrors. I am distraught.* ¹⁶ Your burning anger has passed over me; your sudden fears have destroyed me. ¹⁷ They surround me like water all the day; they circle about me altogether. ¹⁸ You have removed loved one and friend far from me, my acquaintances far from my darkness.

²⁵ My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word.

⁷ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me alive. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my enemies, and you save me with your right hand.

¹⁹ Your dead shall live; _⌊their corpses_⌋* shall rise. Wake up and sing for joy, dwellers of the dust, for your dew is _⌊celestial dew_⌋,* and the earth will give birth to dead spirits.*

¹⁷ Look! Bitterness was bitter to me for peace. And you were the one who loved* my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

¹² Therefore prophesy, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I am opening your graves, and I will bring you up from your graves, my people, and I will bring you to the land of Israel! ¹³ And you will know that I am Yahweh when I open your graves when I bring you up from your graves, my people!

¹ Come, let us return to Yahweh; because it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck us down and will bind us up. ² He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live in his presence.*

⁶ I went down to the foundations of the mountains; the Underworld—its bars were around me forever. But you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

³³ And he took along Peter and James and John with him, and he began to be distressed and troubled. ³⁴ And he said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake."

³⁴ And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" (which is translated, "My God, my God, _⌊why_⌋* have you forsaken me?")*

²⁴ God raised _⌊him_⌋* up, having brought to an end the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

³² This Jesus God raised up, of which* we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured out this that you see and hear.* ³⁴ For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,

²³ Are they servants of Christ?—I am speaking as though I were beside myself—I am more so, with far greater labors, with far more imprisonments, with beatings to a much greater degree, in danger of death many times. ²⁴ Five times I received at the hands of the Jews forty lashes less one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I received a stoning. Three times I was shipwrecked. A day and a night I have spent in the deep water. ²⁶ I have been on journeys many times, in dangers from rivers, in dangers from robbers, in dangers from my own people, in dangers from the Gentiles, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, in dangers at sea, in dangers because of false brothers, ²⁷ with toil and hardship, often in sleepless nights, with hunger and thirst, often going hungry, in cold and poorly clothed. ²⁸ Apart from these external things, there is the pressure on me every day of the anxiety about all the churches. ²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to sin, and I do not burn with indignation? ³⁰ If it is necessary to boast, I will boast about _⌊the things related to my weakness_⌋*. ³¹ The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is blessed _⌊forever_⌋*, knows that I am not lying.

⁹ Now "he ascended," what is it, except that he also descended* to the lower regions of the earth?

¹⁴ And I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me,
"These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹ The battle was prolonged between the house of Saul and the house of David, but David _⌊was growing stronger and stronger_⌋* while the house of Saul _⌊was becoming weaker and weaker_⌋.*

³⁵ You also gave me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your humility made me great.

⁴ Even when I walk in a dark valley, I fear no evil because you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

¹⁰ Many are the pains of the wicked, but for the one who trusts Yahweh loyal love surrounds him.

¹¹ and let all kings bow down to him. Let all nations serve him.

¹⁷ Do a sign that benefits me, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame, because you, O Yahweh, have helped me and comforted me.

⁷ _⌊His dominion will grow continually, and to peace there will be no end_⌋* on* the throne of David and over* his kingdom, to establish it* and sustain it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.

¹ And you will say on that day, "I will give you thanks, Yahweh, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, and you comforted me.

⁶ And he says, "It is trivial _⌊for you to be_⌋* a servant for me,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel. I will give you as a light to the nations, to be my salvation to the end of the earth."

¹³ Sing for joy, heavens, and rejoice, earth! Mountains must break forth in rejoicing! For Yahweh has comforted his people, and he will take pity on his afflicted ones.

⁴ who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in all affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, thus through Christ our comfort overflows also.

¹⁴ But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ, and who reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of him through us in every place.

⁶ But God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus,

¹³ Because of this we have been encouraged, and in addition to our encouragement, we rejoiced much more over the joy of Titus, because his spirit had been refreshed by all of you.

⁹ For what thanks can we repay to God concerning you, because of all the joy with which we rejoice because of you before our God,

¹⁵ And the seventh angel blew the trumpet, and there was a loud voice in heaven saying,
"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign _⌊forever and ever_⌋*."

²² Whom have you mocked and reviled? And against whom have you have raised your voice and have haughtily lifted your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!

¹⁰ All the paths of Yahweh are loyal love and faithfulness for those who keep his covenant and statutes.*

² Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre; with a harp of ten strings play to him.

⁴ God, whose word I praise, God I trust; I do not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?

⁴¹ So they again tested God and distressed* the Holy One of Israel.

I will sing forever of Yahweh's acts of loyal love. _⌊From generation to generation_⌋* I will make known your faithfulness with my mouth.

¹⁸ because our shield belongs to Yahweh,* and our king to the Holy One of Israel.*

¹ A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.*
It is good to give thanks to Yahweh, and to sing praise concerning your name, O Most High; ² to declare in the morning your loyal love and your faithfulness in the night, ³ on the ten string, and on the harp, with a melody on the lyre.

³ He has remembered his loyal love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation* of our God.

² I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name, because of your loyal love and faithfulness, for you have magnified your word* according to all your name.*

⁹ O God, I will sing a new song to you. With a lyre of ten strings I will sing praise to you,

³ Praise him with blast of horn; praise him with harp and lyre. ⁴ Praise him with tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flute. ⁵ Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with clashing cymbals.

¹⁹ those who say, "Let him make haste; let him hurry his work so that we may see it and let it draw near and let the plan of the holy one of Israel come so that we may know it!"

²⁴ Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will become like the stench, and their blossom will go up like the dust. For they have rejected the instruction of Yahweh of hosts, and they have treated the word of the holy one of Israel with contempt.

⁶ Inhabitant of Zion, shout out and sing for joy, for the holy one of Israel is great in your midst."

¹¹ turn aside from the way, turn aside from the path, put an end to the holy one of Israel from our face." ¹² Therefore the holy one of Israel says this:
"Because you are rejecting this word and you trust in oppression and _⌊cunning_⌋* and you rely on it,

³ For I am Yahweh, your God, the holy one of Israel, your savior. I give you Egypt as ransom, Cush and Seba in place of you.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy:
"I reside in a high and holy place, and with the _⌊contrite_⌋* and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the _⌊contrite_⌋.*

⁹ Because the coastlands wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish are first to bring your children from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of Yahweh your God, and for the holy one of Israel, because he has glorified you.

²⁰ You will show faithfulness to Jacob, and loyal love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors* from the days of old.

¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh; I will exult in the God of my salvation. ¹⁹ Yahweh, my Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer; he causes me to walk on my high places. To the choirmaster with stringed instruments.

⁸ For I say, Christ has become a servant of the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises to the fathers,

¹⁶ The angel who redeemed me from all evil, may he bless the boys. And through them let my name be perpetuated,* and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac. And let them multiply into many in the midst of the earth.

²² Yahweh redeems the life of his servants, and none who take refuge in him will incur guilt.

⁴ who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with loyal love and mercies,

³³ I will sing to Yahweh throughout my life; I will sing praise to my God while _⌊I remain alive_⌋.*

⁴⁶ And Mary said,
"My soul exalts the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced greatly in God my Savior,

⁹ And they were singing a new song, saying,
"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slaughtered, and bought people for God by your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation,

¹⁹ And you shall teach them to your children* by talking about them when you sit in your house and when you travel on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.

³⁷ I chased my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were finished off. ³⁸ I struck them and they were not able to stand up; they fell under my feet. ³⁹ And you girded me with strength for the battle; those rising against me you made to kneel under me. ⁴⁰ And you _⌊made my enemies turn their backs_⌋,* then I destroyed those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried out but there was no rescuer, even to Yahweh, but he did not answer them. ⁴² And I ground them like dust _⌊in the wind_⌋,* I emptied them* out like mud of the streets. ⁴³ You rescued me from strife with people; you set me as head (over) nations. People I did not know served me;

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.

¹³ Let them be ashamed; let them perish who are _⌊my adversaries_⌋.* Let them wrap themselves with scorn and disgrace who seek my harm.

¹¹ And so my eye looks on my enemies.* My ears hear those evildoers who rise up against me.

²⁰ Choice silver is a tongue of righteousness, a heart* of wickedness is _⌊of little worth_⌋.* ²¹ Lips of righteousness feed many, but fools _⌊die for lack of sense_⌋.*

³⁵ The good person from his* good treasury brings out good things, and the evil person from his* evil treasury brings out evil things.

²⁵ For it is necessary for him to reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁹ _⌊No rotten word must proceed_⌋* from your mouth, but only something good for the building up of the need, in order that it may give grace to those who hear,
