⁴ There is a river whose streams gladden the city of God, the holiest of the dwellings of the Most High.

² Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is _⌊Mount Zion_⌋,* _⌊in the far north_⌋,* the city of the great king. ³ God is in her citadels; he is known as a high stronghold.

¹¹ Let _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* rejoice; let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments. ¹² Walk about Zion and circle it; count her towers. ¹³ _⌊Consider well_⌋* her ramparts. Go through her citadels so that you can tell the next generation

¹ A song of ascents.*
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. ² As mountains are round about Jerusalem, so Yahweh is round about his people, from now until forever.

⁶ Inhabitant of Zion, shout out and sing for joy, for the holy one of Israel is great in your midst."

¹⁴ But* Zion said, "Yahweh has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me!" ¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling, refrain from having compassion on the child of her womb? Indeed, these may forget, but* I, I will not forget you! ¹⁶ Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. ¹⁷ Your children hasten; your destroyers and those who laid you waste depart* from you. ¹⁸ Lift your eyes up all around and see; all of them gather; they come to you. _⌊As surely as I live_⌋,* _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, surely you shall put on all of them like an ornament, and you shall bind them on like a bride. ¹⁹ Surely your sites of ruins and desolate places and land of ruins,*
surely now you will be _⌊too cramped for your_⌋* inhabitants,* and those who engulfed you will be far away. ²⁰ Yet the children _⌊born when you were bereaved_⌋* will say in your _⌊hearing_⌋,*
"The place is too cramped for me; _⌊make room_⌋* for me so that I can dwell." ²¹ Then* you will say in your heart,
"Who has borne me these?" And, "I was bereaved and barren, exiled and thrust away; so* who raised these? Look at me! I was left alone; _⌊where have these come from_⌋?"* ²² Thus says the Lord Yahweh:
"Look! I will lift my hand up to the nations, and I will raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.* ²³ And kings shall be your _⌊guardians_⌋,* and their queens your nurses. They shall bow down, _⌊faces_⌋* to the ground, to you, and they will lick up the dust of your feet. Then* you will know that I am Yahweh; those who await me shall not be ashamed. ²⁴ Can war-booty be taken from the mighty? or can a captive of a righteous* person be rescued? ²⁵ But thus says Yahweh:
"Indeed a captive of the mighty shall be taken, and the war-booty of the tyrant shall be rescued, for* I myself will dispute with your opponent, and I myself will save your children. ²⁶ And I will feed your oppressors their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their blood as with wine. Then* all flesh shall know that I am Yahweh, your savior and redeemer, the strong one of Jacob."

² "Enlarge the site of your tent, and let them stretch out the tent curtains of your dwelling place. You must not spare; make your tent cords long and strengthen your pegs, ³ for you will spread out to the right and to the left. And your descendants* will be heir to the nations, and they will inhabit desolate towns. ⁴ You must not fear, for you will not be ashamed, and you must not be confounded, for you will not feel abashed, for you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. ⁵ For your husband* is your maker,* his name is Yahweh of hosts; and your redeemer is the holy one of Israel, he is called the God of all of the earth. ⁶ For Yahweh has called you like a wife forsaken and hurt of spirit, like* the wife of childhood when she is rejected, says your God. ⁷ I abandoned you _⌊for a short_⌋* moment, but* I will gather you with great compassion. ⁸ I hid my face from you for a moment, in the flowing of anger, but* I will have compassion on you with everlasting faithfulness" says your redeemer, Yahweh. ⁹ "For this is like the waters of Noah to me, when I swore _⌊that the waters of Noah would never again pass_⌋* over the earth, so I swore _⌊that I would not be_⌋* angry at you and rebuke you. ¹⁰ For the mountains may depart, and the hills may sway, but* my faithfulness shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not sway," says Yahweh, who has compassion on you,

²⁰ "And a redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn away from transgression,"
_⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. ²¹ "And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh:
my spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have placed in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, or* from the mouths* of your _⌊children_⌋,* or* from the mouths* of _⌊your children's children_⌋,"* says Yahweh, "from now on and forever."

²⁰ Your sun shall no longer go down, and your moon shall not _⌊wane_⌋,* for Yahweh himself will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall come to an end. ²¹ And all your people shall be righteous; they shall take possession of the land forever, the shoot of his* planting, the work of my hands, to show my glory. ²² The small one shall become a tribe, and the smallest one a mighty nation.
I am Yahweh; I will hasten it in its time."

³ to _⌊give_⌋* for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And _⌊they will be called_⌋* oaks of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to show his glory. ⁴ And they shall build the ancient ruins, they shall erect the former deserted places. And they shall restore the _⌊devastated cities_⌋,* the deserted places of _⌊many generations_⌋.* ⁵ And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,* and _⌊foreigners_⌋* shall be your farmers and vinedressers. ⁶ But* you shall be called the priests of Yahweh, _⌊you will be called_⌋* servers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and you shall boast in their riches. ⁷ Instead of your shame, a double portion, and instead of insult, they will rejoice over their portion. Therefore they will take a double portion in their land; _⌊they shall possess everlasting joy_⌋.* ⁸ For I, Yahweh, love justice, hate robbery and* injustice, and I will _⌊faithfully_⌋* give their reward, and I will _⌊make_⌋* an everlasting covenant _⌊with_⌋* them. ⁹ And their descendants* will be known among the nations, and their offspring in the midst of the peoples. All those who see them shall recognize them, that they are descendants* whom Yahweh has blessed. ¹⁰ I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh; my being shall shout in exultation in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns himself with a head wrap like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewelry. ¹¹ For as the earth _⌊produces_⌋* its sprout, and as a garden makes its plants sprout, so the Lord Yahweh will make righteousness sprout, and praise before all the nations.

³ And you shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of Yahweh, and a headband of royalty in the hand of your God. ⁴ It shall no longer be said of you, "Forsaken," and it shall no longer be said of your land, "Desolation!" but _⌊you will_⌋* be called "My Delight Is In Her," and your land, "Married," for Yahweh delights in you, and your land shall be married. ⁵ For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you, and as is the joy of the bridegroom over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. ⁶ I have appointed watchmen upon your walls, Jerusalem; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who profess Yahweh have no rest. ⁷ And you must not give him rest until he establishes, and until he _⌊makes_⌋* Jerusalem _⌊an object of praise_⌋* in the earth. ⁸ Yahweh has sworn by his right hand, and by _⌊his mighty arm_⌋,* "Surely I will never again give your grain as food to _⌊your enemies_⌋,* and surely _⌊foreigners_⌋* shall not drink your new wine at which you have labored." ⁹ But those who gather it shall eat it, and they shall praise Yahweh, and those who gather it shall drink it in _⌊my holy courts_⌋.* ¹⁰ Pass through, pass through the gates! Make the way clear _⌊for_⌋* the people! Pile up, pile up the highway; clear it of stones!* Lift up an ensign over the peoples! ¹¹ Look! Yahweh has proclaimed to the end of the earth:
Say to daughter Zion, "Look, your salvation is coming! Look, his reward is with him, and his reward before him. ¹² And they shall call them "The _⌊Holy People_⌋,* The Redeemed Of Yahweh," and _⌊you_⌋* shall be called "Sought After, A City Is Not Forsaken."

¹⁴ "Return, apostate* children," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh. "For _⌊I am your master_⌋,* and I will take you one from a city and two from a clan,* and I will bring you to Zion. ¹⁵ Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart and they will feed you knowledge and insight. ¹⁶ And it will be when you have multiplied and become fruitful in the land in those days," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "they will no longer say, 'The ark of the covenant of Yahweh.' And _⌊it will not come to mind_⌋,* nor will they remember it, nor will they miss it,* nor will it be made again. ¹⁷ At that time they will call Jerusalem 'The Throne of Yahweh,' and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the name of Yahweh, to Jerusalem, and they will no longer go after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

¹² And they will come, and they will sing for joy on the height of Zion, and they will be radiant over the goodness of Yahweh, over the grain, and over the wine, and over the olive oil, and over the young ones of the flock, and over the cattle. And their life will become like a well-watered garden, and they will never languish again." ¹³ "Then the young woman will rejoice in the dancing in a ring, and the young men and the old men together. And I will turn their mourning to jubilation, and I will comfort them, and I will gladden them from their sorrow.

² thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Because the enemy said concerning you, 'Ah, and* the ancient high places will be to us as a possession!'" '

¹¹ And I will cause _⌊your population_⌋* to increase for you, and domestic animals, even they will be numerous, and they will be fruitful, and I will cause you to be inhabited like your _⌊ancient times_⌋,* and I will do good things more than in your former times, and you will know that I am Yahweh. ¹² And I will send over you my people Israel, and they will take possession of you, and you will be for them as an inheritance, and _⌊you will no longer bereave them of their children_⌋."* ¹³ " 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh, because they are saying to you, "You are an eater of humans,* and you are _⌊one who makes childless_⌋* your people."* ¹⁴ Therefore humans* you will not eat any longer, and your nation you will not make childless* any longer," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ¹⁵ "And I will not let you hear any longer the insult of the nations, and the disgrace of the peoples you will not bear any longer; you yourself will not cause your nation to stumble," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.'" ¹⁶ And the word of Yahweh _⌊came_⌋* to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* ¹⁷ "Son of man,* the house of Israel, they were dwelling on their soil, and they defiled it with their way and with their deeds; like the uncleanness of menstruation was their way _⌊before me_⌋.* ¹⁸ And I poured out my rage on them for the blood that they poured on the land and for their idols with which they defiled it. ¹⁹ And I scattered them among the nations, and I dispersed them in the countries according to their way, and according to their deeds I judged them. ²⁰ And they came* into the nations _⌊to which they went_⌋,* and they profaned _⌊my holy name_⌋* when they said to them, 'These are the people of Yahweh, and from his land they went out.' ²¹ And I was concerned for _⌊my holy name_⌋,* which, the house of Israel defiled among the nations _⌊to which they went_⌋.* ²² "Therefore thus say to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "_⌊Not for your sake_⌋ * am I about to act, house of Israel, _⌊but_⌋* _⌊for my holy name_⌋,* which you defiled among the nations _⌊to which you went_⌋.* ²³ And I will consecrate my great name, which was profaned among the nations and which you have profaned in the midst of them, and the nations will know that I am Yahweh!" ' a declaration of the Lord Yahweh, _⌊when I show myself holy_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* their eyes. ²⁴ " 'And I will take you from the nations, and I will gather you from all of the lands, and I will bring you to your land. ²⁵ And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols. ²⁶ And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give* into your inner parts, and I will remove the* heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will give* my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go* in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them. ²⁸ And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your ancestors,* and you will be to me as a people, and I will be to you as* God. ²⁹ And I will save you from all of your uncleanness, and I will call to the grain, and I will cause it to increase, and I will not bring famine upon you. ³⁰ And I will cause the fruit of the tree and the crop of the field to increase, so that you will not suffer again the disgrace of famine among the nations. ³¹ And you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe _⌊yourself_⌋* over* your iniquities and over your detestable things. ³² But not for your sake am I acting," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. "Let it be known to you, be ashamed, and be put to shame because of your ways, house of Israel. ³³ "Thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'On the day when I cleanse you from all of your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the ruins will be rebuilt. ³⁴ And the land that was desolate will be cultivated in _⌊the very place that_⌋* it was desolate before the eyes of all of the persons crossing over. ³⁵ And they will say, "_⌊This desolate land_⌋* has become like the garden of Eden, and the wasted and desolate and destroyed cities, now being refortified, are inhabited." ³⁶ And the nations who are left all around, you will know that I, Yahweh, I built _⌊that which was destroyed_⌋;* I planted the desolate land; I, Yahweh, I have spoken, and I will act.' ³⁷ "Thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'Again this time I will let _⌊myself be inquired of_⌋* by the house of Israel, to do something for them; I will cause them to increase _⌊their population like a flock_⌋.* ³⁸ Like the flock of the sanctuary, like the flock of Jerusalem at its festival, so the desolate cities will be filled with flocks* of people; and they will know that I am Yahweh.'"

²⁷ And my tabernacle will be with them, and I will be for them as God, and they will be to me as a nation. ²⁸ And the nations will know that I, Yahweh, am consecrating Israel when my sanctuary is in the midst of them _⌊forever_⌋." '"*

¹ In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was destroyed, in this day exactly, the hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me there ² in visions from God. He brought me to the land of Israel and put me on a very high mountain, and on it was something like a structure of a city to the south. ³ And he brought me there, and look, there was a man whose* appearance was like the appearance of bronze, and a cord of linen was in his hand and a reed for measurement; he was standing in the gate. ⁴ And the man spoke to me, "Son of man,* look with your eyes and listen with your ears and apply* your heart to all that I am showing you, for you were brought here in order to show you this; tell all that you are seeing to the house of Israel." ⁵ And there was a wall on the outside of the temple _⌊all the way around it_⌋,* and in the hand of the man the reed* for measurement was six long cubits, _⌊according to_⌋* the cubit* and a handbreadth,* and he measured the width of the outer wall as one reed,* and the height as one reed.* ⁶ And then he went toward* the gate whose face was _⌊to the east_⌋.* And he went up by* its steps, and he measured the threshold of the gate, one reed* wide. ⁷ And the alcove* was one reed* long and one reed* wide,* and between the alcoves was five cubits,* and the threshold of the gate along the side of the portico of the gate _⌊on the inside_⌋* was one reed.* ⁸ And then he measured the portico of the gate _⌊on the inside_⌋* as one reed.* ⁹ And he measured the portico of the gate as eight cubits,* and its pilaster was two cubits* thick, and he measured the portico of the gate _⌊on the inside_⌋.* ¹⁰ And the alcoves* of the gate toward the way* _⌊eastward_⌋* were _⌊three on each side_⌋;* _⌊the same measurements applied to all three of them_⌋;* and _⌊the same measurement applied to the pilaster_⌋* _⌊on each side_⌋.* ¹¹ And he measured the width of the doorway of the gate as ten cubits* and the length of the gateway* was thirteen cubits.* ¹² And a wall* _⌊was before_⌋* the alcoves; _⌊one cubit* on either side_⌋* was the wall from here.* And the alcove _⌊was six cubits* on each side_⌋.* ¹³ And he measured the gate from the top slab of the alcove to its opposite top slab as twenty-five cubits in width, _⌊from one entrance to the other one opposite it_⌋.* ¹⁴ And he made the pilasters sixty cubits,* and to the pilaster of the courtyard _⌊all the way around the gate_⌋.* ¹⁵ _⌊And from the front of_⌋* the gate at the entrance to _⌊the front of_⌋* the portico of the inner gate was fifty cubits.* ¹⁶ And there were narrow windows for the alcoves and for their pilasters to the inside of the gate _⌊all the way around_⌋* it. And likewise with respect to the porticos and windows were _⌊all the way around_⌋* to the inside, and on a pilaster there were images of palm trees.* ¹⁷ And he brought me to the outer courtyard, and there were chambers and a pavement made for the courtyard all around it, and thirty chambers were facing to the pavement. ¹⁸ And the pavement _⌊flanked_⌋* the side of the gates _⌊and all along the gates_⌋;* this describes the lower pavement. ¹⁹ And he measured the width from _⌊the front of_⌋* the lower gate to _⌊the front of_⌋* the outside of the inner courtyard as a hundred cubits* to the east and to the north. ²⁰ And as for the gate that had its face _⌊toward the north_⌋* of the outer courtyard, he measured its length and its width. ²¹ And its alcoves were _⌊three on each side_⌋,* and its pilasters and its porticos _⌊had the same measurement_⌋* as the first gate: its length was fifty cubits,* and its width was twenty-five _⌊cubits_⌋.* ²² And its windows and its porticos and its palm tree images were like the measurement of the gate that was _⌊facing toward the east_⌋;* and _⌊it had_⌋* seven steps that go up it, and there were porticos _⌊before them_⌋.* ²³ And a gate led to the inner courtyard, opposite the gate to the north and to the east, and he measured from gate to gate as a hundred cubits.* ²⁴ And then he took me _⌊toward the south_⌋,* and look, a gate _⌊toward the south_⌋,* and he measured its pilasters and its porticos; they had measurements just _⌊like the others_⌋.* ²⁵ And there were for it windows and for its porticos _⌊all the way around it_⌋* like these windows; fifty cubits* long and twenty-five cubits* wide. ²⁶ And seven steps were going up to it and its porticos _⌊before them_⌋.* And _⌊it had palm tree images_⌋* _⌊all along_⌋* its pilasters. ²⁷ And there was to the way of the south* a gate for the inner courtyard, and he measured from gate to the gate on the way of the south, a hundred cubits.* ²⁸ And he brought me to the inner courtyard through* the gate of the south, and he measured the south gate, and it had measurements like _⌊the others_⌋.* ²⁹ And its alcoves and its pilasters and its porticos were just like these measurements. And it had windows for it and for its porticos* _⌊all the way around_⌋,* fifty cubits* along* its length, and twenty-five cubits* wide. ³⁰ And there were porticos _⌊all the way around_⌋* its length, twenty-five cubits;* and its width was five cubits.* ³¹ And its porticos were to the outer courtyard, and palm tree images were on its pilasters, and eight steps were for its stairs. ³² And he brought me to the inner courtyard by way of the east gate, and he measured the gate as just like _⌊the other measurements_⌋.* ³³ And its alcoves and its pilasters and its porticos were also like these measurements, and windows were for it and for its porticos all around;* its length was fifty cubits,* and it was twenty-five cubits* wide. ³⁴ And its porticos were toward the outer courtyard, and palm tree images were on its pilasters _⌊one each side_⌋,* and _⌊eight steps served as it stairs_⌋.* ³⁵ And he brought me to the gate of the north, and he measured it; and he measured _⌊the same measurements as these others_⌋,* ³⁶ its alcoves, its pilasters and porticos, _⌊and its windows_⌋* _⌊all the way around_⌋,* and a length of fifty cubits* and twenty-five cubits wide.* ³⁷ And its pilasters _⌊faced the outer courtyard_⌋,* and _⌊it had palm tree images on its pilasters_⌋* _⌊on each side_⌋;* and eight steps served as its stairs. ³⁸ And a chamber with its doorway was in* the pilasters at the gates,* and there they rinsed off* the burnt offering. ³⁹ And in the portico of the gate _⌊were two tables on each side_⌋* to slaughter the burnt offering on them and the sin offering and the guilt offering. ⁴⁰ And on the outer side as one goes up to the doorway of the gate to the north were two tables, and on the other side, which is toward the portico of the gate, were two tables. ⁴¹ _⌊On each side of the gate were four tables_⌋,* eight tables in all, and on them they slaughtered sacrifices. ⁴² And four tables were for the burnt offering, and made of dressed stones, one cubit and a half* long and one cubit and a half wide and one cubit* high _⌊was their measurements_⌋,* and they placed the objects* with which they slaughtered the burnt offering on them and the sacrifice. ⁴³ And there were double-pronged hooks, one handbreadth in width, put in place in the house* all around, and on the tables was the flesh of the offering. ⁴⁴ And on the outside of the inner gate, there were chambers for* singers in the inner courtyard, which was to the side of the north gate, and their faces* _⌊were to the south_⌋* with respect to one, and on the side of the east gate one facing to the north. ⁴⁵ And he said to me, "This chamber _⌊with its face toward the south_⌋* is for the priests who are taking care of the responsibility of the temple. ⁴⁶ And the chamber _⌊with its face to the north_⌋* is for the priests who are taking care of the responsibility of the altar. They are the descendants* of Zadok, the ones who approach from among the descendants* of Levi to Yahweh to serve him." ⁴⁷ And he measured the courtyard as to its length, a hundred cubits,* and a hundred cubits* wide, squared, and the altar _⌊is in front of_⌋* the temple. ⁴⁸ And he brought me to the portico of the temple, and he measured the pilaster of the portico, _⌊five cubits on each side_⌋,* and the width of the gate _⌊was three cubits on each side_⌋.* ⁴⁹ The length of the portico was twenty cubits* and its width eleven cubits,* and with ten steps they went up to it, and the _⌊pilasters had pillars_⌋,* _⌊one on each side_⌋.*

¹ And* these are the names of the tribes: At the end of the north, _⌊along the way to Hethlon_⌋* from Lebo-hamath to Hazar Enan on the boundary of Damascus _⌊beside Hamath northward_⌋,* there will be one portion for Dan from the eastern border to the _⌊west_⌋.* ² And next to the territory of Dan, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Asher. ³ And next to the territory of Asher, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* and up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Naphtali. ⁴ And next to the territory of Naphtali, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Manasseh. ⁵ And next to the territory of Manasseh, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Ephraim. ⁶ And next to the territory of Ephraim, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* and up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Reuben. ⁷ And next to the territory of Reuben, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* one portion for Judah. ⁸ And next to the territory of Judah, from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* shall be located the contribution that you set apart, twenty-five thousand cubits* in width, and its length just like one of the portions from _⌊the eastern border_⌋* up to _⌊the western border_⌋,* and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it. ⁹ The contribution that you shall set apart for Yahweh, its length shall be twenty-five thousand cubits,* and its width ten thousand cubits.* ¹⁰ And to these shall be _⌊the holy district_⌋:* to the priests northwards twenty-five thousand cubits,* and westwards its width ten thousand cubits,* and eastwards its width ten thousand cubits,* and southwards its length twenty-five thousand cubits,* and the sanctuary of Yahweh shall be in the midst of it. ¹¹ To the priests, the ones being consecrated from the descendants* of Zadok, who took care of my service and who _⌊did not go astray_⌋* _⌊when the Israelites went astray_⌋,* _⌊just as_⌋* the Levites went astray. ¹² And it will be for them a special gift from the contribution of the land _⌊as a most holy object_⌋* next to the territory of the Levites. ¹³ And the Levites _⌊alongside_⌋* the territory of the priests shall have twenty-five thousand cubits* in length and in width ten thousand cubits,* its _⌊full length_⌋,* twenty-five thousand cubits* and its full width, ten thousand cubits.* ¹⁴ And they shall not sell any part from it, and shall not exchange, and shall not transfer the best of the land, for it is holy to Yahweh. ¹⁵ And _⌊the remaining part_⌋* of five thousand cubits* in the width _⌊by_⌋* twenty-five thousand cubits,* is unholy;* it is for the city as dwelling and as pastureland; and the city will be located _⌊in the middle of it_⌋.* ¹⁶ And these shall be its measurements: on its side to the north, four thousand five hundred cubits;* and on its side to the south, four thousand five hundred cubits;* and on _⌊the eastern side_⌋,* four thousand five hundred cubits;* and on _⌊the western side_⌋,* four thousand five hundred cubits.* ¹⁷ And a pastureland shall be for the city northwards, two hundred and fifty cubits,* southwards two hundred and fifty cubits,* and eastwards two hundred and fifty cubits,* and westwards two hundred and fifty cubits.* ¹⁸ And the rest in its length _⌊alongside_⌋* _⌊the holy district_⌋,* ten thousand cubits* eastwards and ten thousand* westwards; and it shall be _⌊alongside_⌋* _⌊the holy district_⌋* and its yield* shall be as food for the workers of the city. ¹⁹ And the workers of the city from all the tribes of Israel shall cultivate it. ²⁰ All of the contribution, twenty-five thousand by twenty five thousand cubits* square, you shall set apart as _⌊the holy district_⌋* along with the property of the city. ²¹ And the rest shall be to* the prince, _⌊on both sides_⌋* _⌊of the holy district_⌋* and of the property of the city _⌊extending from_⌋* twenty-five thousand cubits of the contribution up to the boundary of the east, and westwards _⌊extending_⌋* twenty-five thousand cubits* to the boundary of the sea _⌊alongside_⌋* the tribal portions. They shall be for the prince, and it shall be _⌊the holy district_⌋,* and the sanctuary of the temple* will be in its middle. ²² And also the property of the Levites and the property of the city will be in the midst of the property which is for the prince; between the territory of Judah and between the territory of Benjamin the land will be for the prince. ²³ And for the remainder of the tribes: From the side on the east up to the side on the west, Benjamin one portion; ²⁴ and next to the territory of Benjamin, from the side on the east up to the side of the sea, Simeon one portion; ²⁵ and next to the territory of Simeon, from the side of the east up to the side of the sea, Issachar one portion; ²⁶ and next to the territory of Issachar, from the side of the east up to the side of the sea, Zebulun one portion; ²⁷ and next to the territory of Zebulun, from the side of the east up to the side of the sea, Gad one portion; ²⁸ and next to the territory of Gad, to the side of the south, _⌊southward_⌋;* and the territory will be from Tamar to the waters of Meribath Kadesh, toward the wadi,* on to the Great Sea.* ²⁹ This is the land that you shall allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh. ³⁰ And these shall be the exits of the city: From* _⌊the north side_⌋,* four thousand and five hundred cubits * by measurement. ³¹ And the gates of the city shall be according to the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates to the north, the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one. ³² And on the east side, four thousand five hundred cubits,* and three gates, and so the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one. ³³ And on the south side, four thousand five hundred cubits* by measurement, and so three gates, the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one. ³⁴ And on the west* side, four thousand five hundred cubits,* and their gates three, the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one. ³⁵ All around the city is eighteen thousand cubits,* and the name of the city from that day is "Yahweh Is There"!

²² But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to tens of thousands of angels, to the festal gathering ²³ and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous people made perfect,

¹ And I looked, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and lofty mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, ¹¹ that has the glory of God. Its radiance is like a precious stone, something like a jasper stone, shining like crystal. ¹² It has* a great and high wall that has twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on the gates which are* of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel— ¹³ on the east, three gates, and on the north, three gates, and on the south, three gates, and on the west, three gates. ¹⁴ And the wall of the city has twelve foundations, and on them are twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ And the one who spoke with me was holding a golden measuring rod in order that he could measure the city and its gates and its wall. ¹⁶ And the city is laid out as a square, and its length is the same as its width. And he measured the city with the measuring rod at twelve thousand stadia;* the length and the width and the height of it are equal. ¹⁷ And he measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits* _⌊according to human measure_⌋*, which is the angel's. ¹⁸ And the material of its wall is jasper, and the city is pure gold, similar in appearance to pure glass. ¹⁹ The foundations of the wall of the city are adorned with every kind of precious stone: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, each one of the gates was from a single pearl. And the street of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. ²² And I did not see a temple in it, for the Lord God All-Powerful is its temple, and the Lamb. ²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon, that they shine on it, for the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb. ²⁴ And the nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. ²⁵ And its gates will never be shut by day (for there will be no night there), ²⁶ and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. ²⁷ And every unclean thing and one who practices* detestable things and falsehood will never enter into it, except those who are written in the book of life of the Lamb.
