³ As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. In his shade _⌊I sat down with delight_⌋,* and his fruit was sweet to my palate.

²² And Yahweh God said, "Look—the man has become as one of us, to know good and evil. _⌊What if_⌋* he stretches out his hand and takes also from the tree of life and eats, and lives forever?" ²³ And Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. ²⁴ So* he drove the man out, and placed cherubim east of the garden of Eden, and _⌊a flaming, turning sword_⌋* to guard the way to the tree of life.

¹⁵ And the thornbush said to the trees, 'If in good faith* you are anointing me as king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; if not, may fire go out from the thornbush and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'

¹⁹ if you have acted in good faith* and sincerity with Jerub-Baal and his house this day, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you. ²⁰ But if not, let a fire come out from Abimelech and let it devour the lords of Shechem and Beth-Millo; and let a fire come out from the lords of Shechem, and from Beth-Millo, and let it devour Abimelech."

² You are the most handsome of the sons of humankind; grace is poured out on your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, because in you my soul takes refuge. In the shadow of your wings I will take refuge until destruction passes by.

⁶ For who in the sky* is equal to Yahweh? Who is like Yahweh among the sons of God,

¹ One who lives in the secret place* of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of Shaddai.*

⁵ Sustain me with the raisins, refresh me with the apples, _⌊for I am lovesick_⌋.*

¹⁶ Awake, O north wind! Come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden! Let its fragrances* waft forth!* Let my beloved come to his garden, let him eat his choice fruit!

⁹ _⌊How is your beloved better than another lover_⌋,* O most beautiful among women? _⌊How is your beloved better than another lover_⌋, * that you adjure us thus? ¹⁰ My beloved is radiant and _⌊ruddy_⌋,* distinguished _⌊among_⌋* ten thousand.

¹⁶ _⌊His mouth_⌋* is sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved; this is my friend, _⌊O young women of Jerusalem_⌋.*

⁵ Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I awakened you; there your mother _⌊conceived you_⌋;* there she who was in labor gave birth to you.

² On that day the branch of Yahweh shall become beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall become the pride and glory of the survivors* of Israel.

⁶ and it will be a shelter for shade from the heat by day, and a refuge and a hiding place from rainstorm and from rain.

⁴ For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless was like a rainstorm against a wall,*

² And each one will be like a hiding place from the wind and a covering from the rainstorm, like streams of water in a dry region, like the shade of a large rock in a weary land.

²³ On the height of the mountain of Israel I will plant it, and it will carry* branches,* and it will bear fruit, and _⌊it will become a noble cedar_⌋,* and all of the birds of all wings* will dwell under it in the shade of its branches. ²⁴ And all of the trees of the field will know that I, Yahweh, I will bring low a high tree, and I will exalt a low, fresh tree, and I will make a dry tree flourish. I, Yahweh, I have spoken, and I will do it.'"

¹² And along the stream will go up on its banks _⌊from both sides_⌋* every tree _⌊producing food_⌋;* its leaf will not wither and it will not cease producing its fruit. _⌊Every month_⌋* it will bear early fruit, for its waters are going out from the sanctuary, and its fruit will be as food, and its leaf for healing."

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ John testified about him and cried out, saying, "This one was he about whom I said, 'The one who comes after me is ahead of me, because he existed before me.'" ¹⁶ For from his fullness we have all received, and grace after grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one has seen God at any time; the one and only, God, the one who is in the bosom of the Father—that one has made him* known.

²⁹ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices _⌊greatly_⌋* because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is complete. ³⁰ It is necessary for that one to increase, but for me to decrease." ³¹ The one who comes from above is over all. The one who is from the earth is from the earth and speaks from the earth; the one who comes from heaven is over all.

¹ "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. ² Every branch that does not bear fruit in me, he removes it, and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it in order that it may bear more fruit. ³ You are already clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. ⁴ Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. ⁵ "I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him—this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything. ⁶ If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and dries up, and they gather them and throw them* into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. ⁸ My Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit, and prove to be my disciples.

¹ Although* God spoke long ago in many parts* and in many ways to the fathers by the prophets, ² in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the world,* ³ who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all things by the word of power.* When he* had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, ⁴ having become by so much better than the angels, by as much as he has inherited a more excellent name than theirs. ⁵ For to which of the angels did he ever say,
"You are my son, today I have begotten you,"*
and again,
"I will be _⌊his father_⌋*, and he will be _⌊my son_⌋*"?* ⁶ And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
"And let all the angels of God worship him."*

¹ Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, ² who was faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses also was in his household.* ³ For this one is considered worthy of greater glory than Moses, inasmuch as the one who builds it has greater honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by someone, but the one who built all things is God. ⁵ And Moses was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony to the things that would be spoken, ⁶ but Christ was faithful* as a son over his house, whose house we are, if* we hold fast to our confidence and the hope we can be proud of.

²³ And indeed many _⌊have become_⌋* priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, ²⁴ but he, because he continues _⌊forever_⌋*, holds the priesthood permanently. ²⁵ Therefore also he is able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, because he* always lives in order to intercede on their behalf. ²⁶ For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted above the heavens,

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ what we have seen and heard, we announce to you also, in order that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⁴ And these things we write, in order that our joy may be complete.

¹ And he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming out from the throne of God and of the Lamb ² in the middle of its street, and _⌊on both sides of the river_⌋* is the tree of life, producing twelve fruits—yielding its fruit according to every month—and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
