¹⁸ For if the inheritance is of law, it is no more of promise; but God has given it to Abraham through promise.

⁶ O seed of His servant Abraham; O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones, ⁷ He is Jehovah our God; His judgments are in all the earth; ⁸ He has remembered His covenant forever; the word He commanded to a thousand generations; ⁹ which He cut with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ and He established it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for a perpetual covenant; ¹¹ saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance; ¹² when they were a few men of number; very few, and strangers in it.

⁴² For He remembered His holy word and His servant Abraham;

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, forgiving iniquity and passing by the transgression of the remnant of His possession? He does not make strong His anger forever, for He delights in grace. ¹⁹ He will return to show us compassion; He will trample our iniquities. Yea, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will give faithfulness to Jacob, kindness to Abraham, which You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

⁵⁴ He helped His servant Israel in order to remember mercy, ⁵⁵ even as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever.

⁷² to execute mercy with our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant, ⁷³ the oath which He swore to our father Abraham,

¹³ For the promise was not through law to Abraham, or to his seed, for him to be the heir of the world, but through a righteousness of faith. ¹⁴ For if those of Law are heirs, faith has been made of no effect, and the promise has been destroyed. ¹⁵ For the law works out wrath; for where no law is, neither is transgression. ¹⁶ On account of this, it is of faith, that it be according to grace, for the promise to be made sure to all the seed, not to that of the Law only, but also to that of the faith of Abraham, who is father of us all,

¹⁷ And if children, also heirs; truly heirs of God, and joint-heirs of Christ, if indeed we suffer together, that we may also be glorified together.

²¹ I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness is through law, then Christ died without cause.

¹⁰ For as many as are out of works of law, these are under a curse. For it has been written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things having been written in the book of the Law, to do them." Deut. 27:26

¹² But the Law is not of faith, but, "The man doing these things shall live in them." Lev. 18:5

¹⁶ But the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed (it does not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," which is Christ). Gen. 12:7, 13:15; 17:7, 8; 24:7

²⁶ for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

²⁹ And if you are of Christ, then you are a seed of Abraham, even heirs according to promise.

¹² that you not become dull, but imitators of those who through faith and longsuffering are inheriting the promises. ¹³ For God having made promise to Abraham, since He had no greater to swear by, " He swore by Himself," ¹⁴ saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." Gen. 22:16, 17 ¹⁵ And so, being long-suffering, he obtained the promise.
