²⁸ For he is not a Jew that is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that outwardly in flesh;

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are of a pure heart.

⁹ Except Jehovah of hosts had left a remnant for us, a few, we would be as Sodom; we would be as Gomorrah. ¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom. Listen to the law of our God, people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ What good to Me are your many sacrifices, says Jehovah? I am full of burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fattened cattle, and the blood of bulls; nor do I delight in the blood of lambs and he goats. ¹² When you come to see My face, who has required this at your hand, to trample My courts? ¹³ Do not add to bringing vain sacrifice; its incense is an abomination to Me. I cannot endure the new moon and sabbath, the going to meeting, and the evil assembly. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to Me. I am weary of bearing them . ¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹ Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come out from the waters of Judah, who swear by Jehovah's name and profess by the God of Israel, not in truth or in righteousness. ² For they are called of the holy city, and rest themselves on the God of Israel; Jehovah of Hosts is His name.

²⁶ Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the sons of Ammon, and Moab, and all those trimmed on the edges of their beards, who dwell in the wilderness. For all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel, those uncircumcised of heart.

⁶ And she conceived again and bore a daughter. And He said to him, Call her name No Mercy, for I will not again still have mercy on the house of Israel; but I will completely take them away. ⁷ And I will have mercy on the house of Judah and will save them by Jehovah their God. And I will not save them by bow or by sword, or by battle, by horses, or by horsemen. ⁸ And she having weaned No Mercy, she conceived and bore a son. ⁹ Then He said, Call his name Not My People, for you are not My people, and I will not be for you.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, We have a father, Abraham. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and said concerning him, Behold, truly an Israelite in whom is no guile!

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham's seed, but you seek to kill Me, because My Word has no place in you. ³⁸ I speak what I have seen with My Father. And you therefore do what you have seen with your father. ³⁹ They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham.

¹⁷ Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the Law, and boast in God,

¹⁰ How then was it counted? Being in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision! ¹¹ And he received a sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of faith while in uncircumcision, for him to be a father of those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be counted to them also, ¹² and a father of circumcision to those not of circumcision only, but also to those walking in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham during uncircumcision.

⁶ Not, however, that God's word has failed. For not all those of Israel are Israel, ⁷ nor because they are Abraham's seed are all children, but "In Isaac a Seed shall be called to you." Gen. 21:12 ⁸ That is: Not the children of flesh are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted for a seed.

¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision has any strength nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

²¹ Which figure now also saves us, baptism (not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

⁹ I know your works, and the affliction, and the poverty; but you are rich. And I know the evil speaking of those saying themselves to be Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
