¹⁶ And Jonathan son of Saul rose, and went to David to Caene, and strengthened his hands in the Lord.

²⁸ And charge Joshua, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go before the face of this people, and he shall give them the inheritance of all the land which you have seen.

⁶ And David was greatly distressed, because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, each for his sons and his daughters: but David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

¹⁸ And I told them of the hand of God which was good upon me, also about the words of the king which he spoke to me: and I said, Let us arise and build. And their hands were strengthened for the good [work].

³ For whereas you have instructed many, and have strengthened the hands of the weak one, ⁴ and have supported the failing with words, and have imparted courage to feeble knees.

⁵ then would I insult you with words, and I would shake my head at you.

⁹ The heart delights in ointments and wines and perfumes: but the soul is broken by calamities.

¹⁷ Iron sharpens iron; and a man sharpens his friend's countenance.

⁹ Two [are] better than one, [seeing] they have a good reward for their labor. ¹⁰ For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falls, and there is not a second to lift him up. ¹¹ Also if two should lie together, they also get heat: but how shall one be warmed [alone?] ¹² And if one should prevail against [him], the two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord shall not be quickly broken.

³ Be strong, you⌃ relaxed hands and palsied knees. ⁴ Comfort one another, you⌃ faint-hearted; be strong, fear not; behold, our God renders judgment, and he will render [it]; he will come and save us.

²² Because you⌃ have perverted the heart of the righteous, whereas I perverted him not, and [that] in order to strengthen the hands of the wicked, that he should not at all turn from his evil way and live:
