⁴ His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish.

²⁶ And it shall come to pass, if your sons say to you, What is this service? ²⁷ that you⌃ shall say to them, This passover is a sacrifice to the Lord, as he defended the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians, but delivered our houses.

¹⁴ And if your son should ask you hereafter, saying, What is this? then you shall say to him, With a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ¹⁵ And when Pharao hardened [his heart so as not] to send us away, he killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast; therefore do I sacrifice every [offspring] that opens the womb, the males to the Lord, and every firstborn of my sons I will redeem.

⁷ And you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them sitting in the house, and walking by the way, and lying down, and rising up.

²¹ saying, When your sons ask you, saying, What are these stones? ²² Tell your sons, that Israel went over this Jordan on dry land, ²³ when the Lord our God had dried up the water of Jordan from before them, until they had passed over; as the Lord our God did to the Red Sea, which the Lord our God dried up from before us, until we passed over. ²⁴ That all the nations of the earth might know, that the power of the Lord is mighty, and that you⌃ might worship the Lord our God in every work.

¹ (45) For the end, for alternate [strains] by the sons of Core; for instruction, a Song concerning the beloved. My heart has uttered a good matter: I declare my works to the king: my tongue is the pen of a quick writer. ² You are more beautiful than the sons of men: grace has been shed forth on your lips: therefore God has blessed you for ever.

¹⁸ Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who alone does wonders.

³ They have shed their blood as water, round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury [them]. ⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to them [that are] round about us. ⁵ How long, O Lord? will you be angry for ever? shall your jealousy burn like fire? ⁶ Pour out your wrath upon the heathen that have not known you, and upon the kingdoms which have not called upon your name. ⁷ For they have devoured Jacob, and laid his place waste.
