¹ (87) A Psalm of a Song for the sons of Core. His foundations are in the holy mountains. ² The Lord loves the gates of Sion, more than all the tabernacles of Jacob. ³ Glorious things have been spoken of you, O city of God. Pause. ⁴ I will make mention of Raab and Babylon to them that know me: behold also the Philistines, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians: these were born there. ⁵ A man shall say, Sion [is my] mother; and [such] a man was born in her; and the Highest himself has founded her. ⁶ The Lord shall recount [it] in the writing of the people, and of these princes that were born in her. ⁷ The dwelling of all within you is [as the dwelling] of those that rejoice.

⁶ And when I was afflicted I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: he heard my voice out of this holy temple, and my cry shall enter before him, [even] into his ears.

² Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin, and whose mouth there is no guile.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, and an angel of the Lord persecuting them.

¹² Behold, these [are] the sinners, and they that prosper always: they have possessed wealth. ¹³ And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocency. ¹⁴ For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof [was] every morning.

¹ (103) [A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all [that is] within me, [bless] his holy name.

¹⁷ But the mercy of the Lord is from generation to generation upon them that fear him, and his righteousness to children's children;

¹ (143) A Psalm of David, when his son pursued him. O Lord, attend to my prayer: listen to my supplication in your truth; hear me in your righteousness.

¹⁷ Incline your ear, O Lord, listen, O Lord; open your eyes, O Lord, look, O Lord: and behold the words of Sennacherim, which he has sent to reproach the living God.

² For all these things are mine, says the Lord: and to whom will I have respect, but to the humble and meek, and the [man] that trembles [at] my words?

¹⁸ Incline your ear, O my God, and hear; open your eyes and behold our desolation, and that of your city on which your name is called: for we do not bring our pitiful case before you on [the ground of] our righteousness, but on [the ground of] your manifold compassions, O Lord.

⁷ It was not because you⌃ are more numerous than all [other] nations that the Lord preferred you, and the Lord made choice of you: for you⌃ are fewer in number than all [other] nations. ⁸ But because the Lord loved you, and as keeping the oath which he sware to your fathers, the Lord brought you out with a strong hand, and the Lord redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao king of Egypt.

⁹ granting his petition to him that prays; and he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength can’t man prevail.

³ But know you⌃ that the Lord has done wondrous things for his holy one: the Lord will hear me when I cry to him.

⁵ There were they alarmed with fear, where there was no fear; for God is in the righteous generation.

¹ (17) A prayer of David. Listen, O Lord of my righteousness, attend to my petition; give ear to my prayer not [uttered] with deceitful lips.

² Prove me, O Lord, and try me; purify as with fire my reins and my heart.

¹ (32) [A Psalm] of instruction by David. Blessed [are they] whose transgressions are forgiven, and who sins are covered.

⁵ For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

¹² whose children are as plants, strengthened in their youth: their daughters are beautiful, sumptuously adorned after the similitude of a temple.

³ supporting truth, and keeping peace: for on you, O Lord, ⁴ they have trusted with confidence for ever, the great, the eternal God;

¹ For the End, a Song of David among [the ]Psalms. When I called upon [him], the God of my righteousness heard me: you have made room for me in tribulation; pity me, and listen to my prayer.

⁵ I have hated the assembly of wicked doers; and will not sit with ungodly [men].

¹ (57) For the end. Destroy not: by David, for a memorial, when he fled from the presence of Saul to the cave. Have mercy, upon me, O God, have mercy upon me: for my soul has trusted in you: and in the shadow of your wings will I hope, until the iniquity have passed away.

¹ (58) For the end. Destroy not: by David, for a memorial. If you⌃ do indeed speak righteousness, [then] do you⌃ judge rightly, you⌃ sons of men.

⁹ You rule the power of the sea; and you calm the tumult of its waves.

¹ (26) [A Psalm] of David. Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in my innocence: and hoping in the Lord I shall not be moved.

⁸ My soul has kept very close behind you: your right hand has upheld me.

⁸ whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of iniquity.

³ that there should be given to them that mourn in Sion glory instead of ashes, the oil of joy to the mourners, the garment of glory for the spirit of heaviness: and they shall be called generations of righteousness, the planting of the Lord for glory.

¹⁸ But they shall find in her joy and exultation; for, behold, I make Jerusalem a rejoicing, and my people a joy.

¹³ As if his mother should comfort one, so will I also comfort you; and you⌃ shall be comforted in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And you⌃ shall see, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall thrive like grass: and the hand of the Lord shall be known to them that fear him, and he shall threaten the disobedient.

⁶ And the Lord passed by before his face, and proclaimed, The Lord God, pitiful and merciful, longsuffering and very compassionate, and true,

¹⁷ and refused to listen, and remembered not your wonders which you wrought with them; and they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt: but you, O God, [are] merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy, and you did not forsake them.

⁸ O Lord, I have loved the beauty of your house, and the place of the tabernacle of your glory.

⁷ Submit yourself to the Lord, and supplicate him: fret not yourself because of him that prospers in his way, at the man that does unlawful deeds.

¹ (53) For the end, [a Psalm] of David upon Maeleth, of instruction. The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted [themselves], and become abominable in iniquities: there is none that does good.

⁸ They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.

⁸ the Lord gives wisdom to the blind: The Lord sets up the broken down: the Lord loves the righteous: the Lord preserves the strangers; ⁹ he will relieve the orphan and widow: but will utterly remove the way of sinners.

⁷ let the ungodly leave his ways, and the transgressor his counsels: and let him return to the Lord, and he shall find mercy; for he shall abundantly pardon your sins.

³ Peradventure they will hear, and turn every one from his evil way: then I will cease from the evils which I purpose to do to them, because of their evil practices.

³³ Thus says the Lord God; In the day wherein I shall cleanse you from all your iniquities I will also cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste [places] shall be built upon:

³⁷ Thus says the Lord God; Yet [for] this will I be sought by the house of Israel, to establish them; I will multiply them [even] men as sheep;

⁹ To you, the Lord our God, [belong] compassions and forgivenesses, whereas we have departed [from you];

¹³ and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.

² And he prayed to the Lord, and said, O Lord, were not these my words when I was yet in my land? therefore I made haste to flee to Tharsis; because I knew that you are merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and abundant in kindness, and repent of evil.

¹⁸ Who is a God like you, cancelling iniquities, and passing over the sins of the remnant of his inheritance? and he has not kept his anger for a testimony, for he delights in mercy.

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David, concerning her that inherits. Listen to my words, O Lord, attend to my cry. ² Attend to the voice of my supplication, my King, and my God: for to you, O Lord, will I pray.

¹ (18) For the end, [a Psalm] of David, the servant of the Lord; [the words] which he spoke to the Lord, [even] the words of this Song, in the day in which the Lord delivered him out the hand of all his enemies, and out the hand of Saul: and he said: I will love you, O Lord, my strength.

¹ (56) For the end, concerning the people that were removed from the sanctuary, by David for a memorial, when the Philistines caught him in Geth. Have mercy upon me, O God; for man has trodden me down; all the day long he warring has afflicted me.

² [I shall have sinned] if I have not been humble, but have exulted my soul: according to [the relation of] a weaned child to his mother, so will you recompense my soul.

⁶ His going forth is from the extremity of heaven, and his circuit to the [other] end of heaven: and no one shall be hidden from his heat.

⁴ Let them that seek my soul be ashamed and confounded: let them that devise evils against me be turned back and put to shame. ⁵ Let them be as dust before the wind, and an angel of the Lord afflicting them. ⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, and an angel of the Lord persecuting them.

¹⁵ O Lord, you shall open my lips; and my mouth shall declare your praise.

¹ (78) [A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth. ² I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings [which have been] from the beginning.

¹⁵ that the Lord my God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.

³ For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark [place], as those that have been long dead.

¹⁶ Lord, in affliction I remembered you; your chastening was to us with small affliction.

⁵⁵ KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon. ⁵⁶ You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication. ⁵⁷ You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.

² And Jonas prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the whale,

¹¹ Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you? glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.

²⁴ Lord God, you have begun to show to your servant your strength, and your power, and your mighty hand, and your high arm: for what God is there in heaven or on the earth, who will do as you have done, and according to your might?

³⁴ if God has assayed to go and take to himself a nation out of the midst of [another] nation with trial, and with signs, and with wonders, and with war, and with a mighty hand, and with a high arm, and with great sights, according to all the things which the Lord our God did in Egypt in your sight.

⁶ In the morning let it flower, and pass away: in the evening let it droop, let it be withered and dried up.

⁸ You have set our transgressions before you: our age is in the light of your countenance.

⁴ How should we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

¹⁸ To whom have you⌃ compared the Lord? and with what likeness have you⌃ compared him?

²⁵ Now then to whom have you⌃ compared me, that I may be exalted? says the Holy One.

¹⁶ Such is not the portion of Jacob; for he that formed all things, he is his inheritance; the Lord is his name.

²⁹ Therefore I publish a decree: Every people, tribe, [or] language, that shall speak reproachfully against the God of Sedrach, Misach, [and] Abdenago shall be destroyed, and their houses shall be plundered: because there is no other God who shall be able to deliver thus.

⁴ Let the nations rejoice and exult, for you shall judge the peoples in equity, and shall guide the nations on the earth. Pause.

⁷ O God, when you went forth before your people, when you went through the wilderness; Pause:

⁸ They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness: they have uttered unrighteousness loftily.

¹⁹ How have they become desolate! suddenly they have failed: they have perished because of their iniquity.

¹⁵ [As for] man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so shall he flourish.

¹⁸ to them that keep his covenant, and remember his commandments to do them.

² For in the last days the mountain of the Lord shall be glorious, and the house of God [shall be] on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall come to it. ³ And many nations shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will tell us his way, and we will walk in it: for out of Sion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem. ⁴ And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles: and nation shall not take up sword against nation, neither shall they learn to war any more.

⁹ And they shall not hurt, nor shall they at all be able to destroy any one on my holy mountain: for the whole [world] is filled with the knowledge of the Lord, as much water covers the seas.

⁷ [even] all who are called by my name: for I have prepared him for my glory, and I have formed him, and have made him:

¹⁹ So shall they of the west fear the name of the Lord, and they [that come] from the rising of the sun his glorious name: for the wrath of the Lord shall come as a mighty river, it shall come with fury.

²³ And it shall come to pass from month to month, and from sabbath to sabbath, [that] all flesh shall come to worship before me in Jerusalem, says the Lord.

⁹ And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day there shall be one Lord, and his name one,

³ Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do them, that it may be well with you, and that you⌃ may be greatly multiplied, as the Lord God of your fathers said that he would give you a land flowing with milk and honey: and these [are] the ordinances, and the judgments, which the Lord commanded the children of Israel in the wilderness, when they had gone forth from the land of Egypt. ⁴ Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord.

³⁹ Behold, behold that I am [he], and there is no god beside me: I kill, and I will make to live: I will strike, and I will heal; and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands.

⁷ Will you find out the traces of the Lord? or have you come to the end [of that] which the Almighty has made?

¹⁸ Surely you have appointed [judgments] to them because of their crafty dealings: you have cast them down when they were lifted up.

¹³ He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as [in] a bottle. ¹⁴ And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire. ¹⁵ he clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.

³ Trust not in princes, nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety. ⁴ His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish. ⁵ Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

¹⁶ O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, who sit upon the cherubs, you alone are the God of every kingdom of the world: you have made heaven and earth.

²⁰ But now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hands, that every kingdom of the earth may know that you are God alone.

⁶ Thus says God the King of Israel, and the God of hosts that delivered him; I am the first, and I am hereafter: beside me there is no God. ⁷ Who is like me? let him stand, and call, and declare, and prepare for me from the time that I made man for ever; and let them tell you the things that are coming before they arrive. ⁸ Hide not yourselves, nor go astray: have you⌃ not heard from the beginning, and [have not] I told you? you⌃ are witnesses if there is a God beside me.

²⁶ This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that [men] tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living and eternal God, and his kingdom shall not be destroyed, and his dominion is for ever. ²⁷ He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

³² I will see apart from myself: do you show me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do [so] any more.

⁸ Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of mine enemies; make my way plain before your face.

⁴ I have not sat with the council of vanity, and will in nowise enter in with transgressors. ⁵ I have hated the assembly of wicked doers; and will not sit with ungodly [men].

¹² My foot stands in an even place: in the congregations will I bless you, O Lord.

³ Though an army should set itself in array against me, my heart shall not be afraid: though war should rise up against me, in this am I confident.

⁸ whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of iniquity. ⁹ O God, I will sing a new song to you: I will play to you on a lute of ten strings. ¹⁰ [Even] to him who gives salvation to kings: who redeems his servant David from the hurtful sword.

³⁸ He has forsaken his lair, as a lion: for their land is become desolate before the great sword.

² They have divided their hearts; now shall they be utterly destroyed: he shall dig down their altars, their pillars shall mourn.

⁸ They shall return, and dwell under his shadow: they shall live and be satisfied with corn, and he shall flower as a vine: his memorial shall be to Ephraim as the wine of Libanus.

⁵ and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;

⁶ The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked before me directing [his way] in peace, and he turned many from unrighteousness.

⁵ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind, and with all your soul, and all your strength.

¹³ And now, Lord, we give thanks to you, and praise your glorious name.

²⁰ And David said to the whole congregation, Bless you⌃ the Lord our God. And all the congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and they bowed the knee and worshipped the Lord, and [did obeisance] to the king.

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David, concerning the secrets of the Son. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will recount all your wonderful works.

¹ (35) [A Psalm] of David. Judge you, O Lord, them that injure me, fight against them that fight against me.

¹ (104) [A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honor: ² who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain. ³ Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.

³³ And he struck their vines and their fig trees; and broke every tree of their coast.

¹ (146) Alleluia, [a Psalm] of Aggaeus and Zacharias. My soul, praise the Lord. ² While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.

¹ (147) Alleluia, [a Psalm] of Aggaeus and Zacharias. Praise you⌃ the Lord: for psalmody is a good thing; let praise be sweetly sung to our God. ² The Lord builds up Jerusalem; and he will gather together the dispersed of Israel.

⁵ Trust in God with all your heart; and be not exalted in your own wisdom. ⁶ In all your ways acquaint yourself with her, that she may rightly direct your paths.

¹ And in that day you shall say, I [will] bless you, O Lord; for you were angry with me, but you have turned aside your wrath, and have pitied me.

¹⁸ He spares also his soul from death, and [suffers] him not to fall in war.

²² His soul also draws near to death, and his life is in Hades.

²⁴ he will support him, that he should not perish, and will restore his body as [fresh] plaster upon a wall; and he will fill his bones with morrow.

²⁸ Deliver my soul, that it may not go to destruction, and my life shall see the light.

¹⁰ They have enclosed [themselves with] their own fat: their mouth has spoken pride.

³ For you are my strength and my refuge; and you shall guide me for your name's sake, and maintain me.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance of the ungodly: he shall wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.

⁶ For who in the heavens shall be compared to the Lord? and who shall be likened to the Lord among the sons of God?

⁸ They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them. ⁹ You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth. ¹⁰ He sends forth his fountains among the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains. ¹¹ They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst. ¹² By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.

⁴ Instead of loving me, they falsely accused me: but I continued to pray.

¹⁷ For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish: and you have cast all [my] sins behind me.

³ and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: you heard my voice. ⁴ You did cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all your billows and your waves have passed upon me. ⁵ And I said, I am cast out of your presence: shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple? ⁶ Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down

¹ And it came to pass after this that Abessalom prepared for himself chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ² And Abessalom rose early, and stood by the side of the way of the gate: and it came to pass that every man who had a cause, came to the king for judgment, and Abessalom cried to him, and said to him, Of what city are you? And he said, Your servant [is] of one of the tribes of Israel. ³ And Abessalom said to him, See, your affairs [are] right and clear, yet you have no one [appointed] of the king to hear you. ⁴ And Abessalom said, O that one would make me a judge in the land; then every man who had a dispute or a cause would come to me, and I would judge him! ⁵ And it came to pass when a man came near to do him obeisance, that he stretched out his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him. ⁶ And Abessalom did after this manner to all Israel that came to the king for judgment; and Abessalom gained the hearts of the men of Israel. ⁷ And it came to pass after forty years, that Abessalom said to his father, I will go now, and pay my vows, which I vowed to the Lord in Chebron. ⁸ For your servant vowed a vow when I lived at Gedsur in Syria, saying, If the Lord should indeed restore me to Jerusalem, then will I serve the Lord. ⁹ And the king said to him, Go in peace. And he arose and went to Chebron. ¹⁰ And Abessalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, When you⌃ hear the sound of the trumpet, then shall you⌃ say, Abessalom is become king in Chebron. ¹¹ And there went with Abessalom two hundred chosen men from Jerusalem; and they went in their simplicity, and knew not anything. ¹² And Abessalom sent to Achitophel the Theconite, the counsellor of David, from his city, from Gola, where he was sacrificing: and there was a strong conspiracy; and the people with Abessalom were increasingly numerous.

²⁰ And Abessalom said to Achitophel, Deliberate among yourselves concerning what we should do.

¹⁴ And Abessalom, and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Chusi the Arachite [is] better than the counsel of Achitophel. For the Lord ordained to disconcert the good counsel of Achitophel, that the Lord might bring all evil upon Abessalom.

⁴ For they have pulled down what you did frame, but what has the righteous done?

⁴ In his sight an evil-worker is set at nothing, but he honors them that fear the Lord. He swears to his neighbor, and disappoints [him] not.

¹ (37) [A Psalm] of David. Fret not yourself because of evil-doers, neither be envious of them that do iniquity.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight [themselves] in the abundance of peace.

³ because of the voice of the enemy, and because of the oppression of the sinner: for they brought iniquity against me, and were wrathfully angry with me.

⁵ The righteous shall chasten me with mercy, and reprove me: but let not the oil of the sinner anoint my head: for yet shall my prayer also be in their pleasures.

¹² And he said to me, You have seen, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel do, each one of them in their secret chamber: because they have said, The Lord see not; The Lord has forsaken the earth.

⁹ Then said he to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Juda is become very exceedingly great: for the land is filled with many nations, and the city is filled with iniquity and uncleanness: because they have said, The Lord has forsaken the earth, The Lord looks not upon [it].

⁶ And I have appointed him and Eliab the [son] of Achisamach of the tribe of Dan, and to every one understanding in heart I have given understanding; and they shall make all things as many as I have appointed you, — ⁷ the tabernacle of witness, and the ark of the covenant, and the propitiatory that is upon it, and the furniture of the tabernacle,

¹⁸ The Lord [is] longsuffering and merciful, and true, removing transgressions and iniquities and sins, and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation.

¹⁰ For you are great, and do wonders: you are the only [and] the great God.

⁵ A man shall say, Sion [is my] mother; and [such] a man was born in her; and the Highest himself has founded her.

³ Let them give thanks to your great name; for it is terrible and holy.

⁴ To the upright light has sprung up in darkness: he is pitiful, and merciful, and righteous.

⁷ [There is] a voice of the Lord who divides a flame of fire. ⁸ A voice of the Lord who shakes the wilderness; the Lord will shake the wilderness of Cades.

⁵ Wouldest you be angry with us for ever? or will you continue your wrath from generation to generation?

¹³ You shall tread on the asp and basilisk: and you shall trample on the lion and dragon.

³ You have traced my path and my bed, and have foreseen all my ways.

²⁹ He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to them that are not suffering. ³⁰ For the young [men] shall hunger, and the youths shall be weary, and the choice [men] shall be powerless: ³¹ but they that wait on God shall renew [their] strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not hunger.

²⁴ saying, Righteousness and glory shall come to him: and all that remove them from their borders shall be ashamed.

¹² And I will strengthen them in the Lord their God; and they shall boast in his name, says the Lord.

¹⁷ And Gedeon said to him, If now I have found mercy in your eyes, and you will do this day for me all that you have spoken of with me,

¹ (41) For the end, a Psalm of David. Blessed [is the man] who thinks, on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day.
