⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him and yet live in darkness, we lie, and do not follow the truth:

²² A great many will say to me in that day, My Lord, my Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out devils, and in your name do many wonders?

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that light has come into the world, and yet men have loved darkness more than light, because their works were evil. ²⁰ For every one who does detested things hates the light, and he does not come to the light, because his works cannot be covered. ²¹ But he who does truthful things comes to the light, so that his works may be known, that they are done through God.

¹² Again Jesus spoke to them and said, I am the light of the world; he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but he shall find for himself the light of life.

⁴⁴ You are from the father of accusation, and you want to do the lusts of your father, he who is a murderer of men from the very beginning and who never stands by the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks he speaks his own lie, because he is a liar, and the father of it. ⁴⁵ But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.

¹⁰ But if a man travels at night time, he will stumble, because there is no light in it.

³⁵ Jesus said to them, The light is with you for a little while; walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overcome you; and he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as the light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

¹⁴ Do not unite in marriage with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? Or what mingling has light with darkness? ¹⁵ Or what accord has Christ with Satan? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ Or what harmony has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as it is said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

² Who with false appearance mislead and speak lies and are seared in their own conscience;

¹⁴ Though a man say he has faith, what profit is it, my brethren, if he does not have works? Can faith save him?

¹⁶ And one of you say to them, Depart in peace, be warmed, and be filled; yet you do not give to them those things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

¹⁸ For a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

³ It is that which we have seen and heard that we declare to you, so that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

⁴ He who says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

⁹ He who says he is in the light but hates his brother, is therefore in darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for displeasure in him. ¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.

²⁰ If a man say, I love God, and yet hates his brother, he is a liar: for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

¹⁷ Because you say, I am rich and my wealth has increased, and I need nothing; and you do not know that you are miserable, and a wanderer, and poor, and blind, and naked: ¹⁸ I advise you to buy of me gold refined in the fire, that you may become rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with salve that you may see.
