³⁴ Then one of the PharÆi-sees whose name was Ga-maÆli-el, a teacher of the law and honored by all the people, rose up and ordered them to take the apostles outside for a little while;

⁴⁶ After three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions.

¹⁷ It came to pass on one of the days when Jesus was teaching, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were sitting, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem. And the power of God was present to heal them.

⁵⁰ Nicodemus, one of them, who had come to Jesus at night, said to them, ⁵¹ Does our law convict a man, unless it first hears from him, and knows what he has done? ⁵² They answered and said to him, Why, are you also from Galilee? * Search and see that no prophet will rise up from Galilee. ⁵³ So everyone went to his own house.

¹⁵ But when they had commanded them to be taken aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

³ I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Ci-liÆcia, yet I was brought up in this city under the care and guidance of Ga-maÆli-el, and trained perfectly according to the law of our fathers, and was zealous toward God, just as you are also.

⁷ And when he had said this, there arose a dissension between the PharÆi-sees and the SadÆdu-cees: and the people were divided. ⁸ For the SadÆdu-cees say there is no resurrection, neither angels nor soul: but the PharÆi-sees believe in them. ⁹ Then there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the party of the PharÆi-sees rose up, and argued, saying, We find no fault with this man: and if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, there is nothing wrong in that.
