³² The portion of the scripture which he was reading was this: He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a ewe sheep before the shearer, so he opened not his mouth:

⁶² And the high priest stood up and said to him, You are not answering anything. What is it that these men testify against you? ⁶³ But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure you by the living God, to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God?

³⁴ And Jesus said, O Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. And they divided his garments and cast lots over them.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

⁹ That the word which he said might be fulfilled, Of those whom you gave me, I have lost not even one. ¹⁰ But Simon Peter had a sword, and he drew it and struck the high priestÆs servant, and cut off his right ear. The servantÆs name was Malech. ¹¹ And Jesus said to Peter, Put the sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup which my Father has given me?

³⁶ As it is written, For your sake we die every day, and we are accounted as lambs for the slaughter.

¹⁹ But with the precious blood of the Lamb without blemish and without spot which is Christ:

²¹ For to this purpose you were called: because Christ also died for us, leaving us an example, that we should follow in his footsteps. ²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, wen he was reviled, he did not revile again: when he suffered he did not threaten, but committed his cause to him who judges righteously: ²⁴ And he bore all our sins, and lifted them with his body on the cross, that we being dead to sin, should live through his righteousness: and by his wounds you were healed.
