¹⁵ And he said to his disciples, Beware of all covetousness, because life does not depend on abundance of wealth.

²⁵ For this reason, I say to you, Do not worry for your life, what you will eat, and what you will drink, nor for your body, what you will wear. Behold, is not life much more important than food, and the body than clothing? ²⁶ Watch the birds of the sky, for they do not sow, neither do they harvest, nor gather into barns, and yet your Father in heaven feeds them. Are you not much more important than they?

²² Extortion, wickedness, deceit, lust, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness;

¹⁴ That which fell among the thistles are those who hear the word, and then choke themselves with worries and riches and worldly covetousness, and bear no fruit.

¹⁴ When the Pharisees heard all these things, because they loved money, they ridiculed him.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, that your hearts may not become heavy by extravagance, and drunkenness, and worries of this world, and that day come suddenly upon you.

¹⁰ I do not mean that you should separate completely from all the immoral people of this world, or from the fraudulent and extortioners, or from idolaters; otherwise you would be obliged to leave this world. ¹¹ Now what I have written to you is this: you are not to associate with any person who is known as a brother and yet is immoral or fraudulent or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a person you must not break bread.

¹⁰ Nor extortioners, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor grafters, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

³ But let not immorality or any uncleanness or covetousness be heard of among you, as becomes saints; ⁴ Neither cursing, nor foolish words, nor insults, nor words of flattery, none of which are necessary: but instead of these, let thanks be offered. ⁵ You should know this: that no one guilty of fornication, or unclean person, or covetous man who serves idols, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁵ Mortify therefore your earthly members: immorality, uncleanness, intemperate desires, evil lusts, and covetousness, for these are idolatry;

⁶ But our gain is greater contentment, for it is the worship of God. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ Therefore, let us be satisfied with food and clothing; ⁹ For those who desire to be rich, fall into temptations, and snares, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in degeneration and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: and there are some men who have coveted it and have thereby erred from the faith, they have brought to themselves many sorrows.

² And men shall be lovers of themselves, and lovers of money, proud, conceited, blasphemers, disobedient to their own people, ungrateful, wicked,

⁵ Do not be carried away by the love of money; but be content with what you have: for the LORD himself has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

³ And through covetousness, they will exploit you with feigned words: whose judgment from the very beginning has not ceased and their damnation is always active.

¹⁴ And have eyes full of adultery, and of sin that does not cease: beguiling, unstable souls are they whose hearts are well versed in covetousness: accursed sons are they.
