It is hard for you to kick against the pricks. ¹⁵ And I said, My LORD, who are you? And our LORD said to me, I am Jesus of Nazareth whom you persecute. ¹⁶ Then he said to me, Rise and stand upon your feet: for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you a minister and a witness both of these things in which you have seen me, and of those things in which you will also see me again. ¹⁷ And I will deliver you from the Jewish people, and from the other people to whom I send you; ¹⁸ To open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, and receive forgiveness of sins, and a portion with the saints who are of the faith in me. ¹⁹ Whereupon, O King A-gripÆpa, I did not disobey the heavenly vision:

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in our sins, has made us live together with Christ, by whose grace we are saved;

¹⁴ Therefore it is said: Awake thou that sleepest, and rise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

⁴ But after the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour was manifested, ⁵ Not so much by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of change. ¹⁸ It is he, who begot us of his own will with the word of truth, that we should be the firstfruits of his creatures.
