¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

² The names of the twelve apostles are these: The first of them Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus surnamed Thaddaeus; ⁴ Simon the Zealot, and Judas of Iscariot, who betrayed him.

¹⁸ I tell you also that you are a stone, and upon this stone I will build my church; and the doors of Sheol shall not shut in on it.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds upon it. But let every man be careful how he builds thereon. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay than that which is already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

²⁰ And you are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the corner-stone of the building:

⁵ Which in ages past was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

¹¹ And he has assigned some, apostles, and some, prophets, and some, evangelists, and some, pastors, and some, teachers;

¹⁰ For he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

¹⁷ But you, my beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our LORD Jesus Christ;

²⁰ Rejoice over her, O heaven, and angels, apostles, and prophets, for God has avenged you on her.

¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second sapphire; the third chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; ²⁰ The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were adorned with twelve pearls; one for each of the gates, and each gate was made of a single pearl; and the great street of the city was of pure gold. as it were transparent glass.
