⁴ But after the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour was manifested,

⁴ Do you stand against the riches of his goodness and forbearance, and the opportunity which he has given you, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

²⁰ The introduction of the law caused sin to increase, and when sin had increased, grace became abundant. ²¹ Just as sin had reigned through death, so grace shall reign through righteousness unto eternal life by our LORD Jesus Christ.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in our sins, has made us live together with Christ, by whose grace we are saved; ⁶ And he has raised us up with him, and seated us with him in heaven, through Jesus Christ. ⁷ In the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Jesus Christ. ⁸ For it is by grace that you are saved through faith; not of your doing: it is the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his creation, created through Jesus Christ ultimately for good works, which God has before ordained that we should live in them.

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour:

¹⁰ Because of this, we both toil and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of those who believe.

¹⁰ And is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has revealed life and immortality through the gospel;

³ And has in due time revealed his word by our preaching; which preaching has been intrusted to me by the command of God our Saviour;

¹⁰ Not stealing but manifesting true sincerity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has been revealed to all men.

²⁶ And if not so, then he would have been obliged to suffer many times from the very beginning of the world: but now at the end of the world, only once, by his sacrifice, did he offer himself to abolish sin.
