⁴ And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord, and he rose up early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁸ And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillow, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

²² And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house; and of all that thou wilt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

²¹ And the stones shall be according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names; engraved with the engraving of a signet, every one according to his name, shall they be for the twelve tribes.

⁵ And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake thereof twelve cakes: of two tenth parts shall each one cake be.

⁹ And Moses wrote down this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and unto all the elders of Israel.

² Take yourselves twelve men out of the people, one man each out of every tribe, ³ And command ye them, saying, Take yourselves hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firmly, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging-place, where ye will lodge this night.

⁸ And the children of Israel did so as Joshua had commanded; and they took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as the Lord had spoken unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there. ⁹ Twelve stones also did Joshua set up in the midst of the Jordan, on the spot where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood: and they have remained there unto this day.

²⁰ And those twelve stones, which they had taken out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.

²⁶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak, that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. ²⁷ And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be among us as a witness; for it hath heard all the words of the Lord which he spoke unto us: it shall be therefore as a witness against you, that ye may not deny your God.

³⁰ And Achiyah caught hold of the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces;

¹⁷ And they offered for the dedication of this house of God one hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
