¹³ For this reason I speak to them in parables; because they seeing, see not; and hearing, hear not, nor regard;

¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

¹⁹ Now this is the ground of condemnation; that light has come into the world, and men have preferred the darkness to the light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For whosoever does evil, hates the light, and shuns it, lest his deeds should be detected.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment am I come into this world, that they who see not, may see; and that they who see, may become blind. ⁴⁰ Some Pharisees, who were present, hearing this, said to him, Are we also blind? ⁴¹ Jesus answered, If you were blind, you would not have sin: but you say, We see: therefore your sin remains.

³ If then, indeed, our gospel be veiled, it is veiled among the destroyed; ⁴ among whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might shine into them.
