⁴ And it happened when King Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God who had cried against the altar in Bethel, he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him! And his hand, which he put forth against him withered up so that he could not pull it in again to himself.

¹¹ And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

¹⁸ And they came down to it, and Elisha prayed to Jehovah and said, I pray You, strike this people with blindness. And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. ¹⁹ And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, nor is this the city. Follow me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. But he led them to Samaria. ²⁰ And it happened when they came into Samaria, Elisha said, Jehovah, open the eyes of these men so that they may see. And Jehovah opened their eyes, and they saw. And behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.

¹⁰ And Asa was angry with the seer and put him in a prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

²⁵ And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son. ²⁶ And you shall say, So says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I return in peace. ²⁷ And Micaiah said, If you certainly return in peace, then Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Listen, all you people.

¹⁵ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and He sent to him a prophet who said to him, Why have you sought after the gods of the people which could not deliver their own people out of your hand? ¹⁶ And it happened as he talked with him, the king said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Stop! Why should you be stricken? And the prophet stopped. And he said, I know that God has determined to destroy you because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.

¹⁵ saying, Touch not my anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

² then Pashur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of Jehovah. ³ And it happened on the next day, Pashur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, Jehovah has not called your name Pashur, but Terror from All Around. ⁴ For so says Jehovah, Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall behold it. And I will give all Judah into the king of Babylon's hand, and he will exile them into Babylon, and kill them with the sword. ⁵ And I will give all the wealth of this city, and its produce, and all its precious things, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah, even I will give into the hand of their enemies; who will strip them and take them, and bring them to Babylon. ⁶ And you, Pashur, and all who dwell in your house, shall go into captivity. And you shall come to Babylon, and you shall die there, and shall be buried there; you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.

⁸ And it happened when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, You shall surely die! ⁹ Why have you prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be wasted, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah. ¹⁰ When the rulers of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house to the house of Jehovah, and sat down in the entrance of the New Gate of Jehovah's house. ¹¹ And the priests and the prophets spoke to the rulers and to all the people, saying, Let a death sentence be for this man, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.

²⁰ And there was also a man who prophesied in the name of Jehovah, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah. ²¹ And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the rulers, heard his words, the king tried to put him to death. But when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt. ²² And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt; Elnathan the son of Achbor, and men with him into Egypt. ²³ And they brought Urijah out of Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and threw his dead body into the graves of the common people.

⁴ And the rulers said to the king, Please let this man be put to death. For in this way he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the good of this people, but the hurt. ⁵ Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand. For the king cannot do a thing against you. ⁶ And they took Jeremiah and threw him into the pit of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, which was in the court of the prison. And they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And there was no water in the pit, only mud. So Jeremiah sank into the mud.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos has plotted against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words. ¹¹ For so Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely go into exile out of his land. ¹² And Amaziah said to Amos, O seer, go, flee for yourself into the land of Judah; and eat bread there, and prophesy there. ¹³ But do not prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's temple, and it is the king's royal house. ¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah: I was no prophet, nor was I a prophet's son. But I was a herdsman and a gatherer from sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Jehovah took me from behind the flock, and Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to My people Israel. ¹⁶ Now then hear the Word of Jehovah. You say, Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not drop words against the house of Isaac. ¹⁷ So Jehovah says this: Your wife shall be a harlot in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line. And you shall die in a defiled land; and Israel shall surely go into exile out of his land.

⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.

⁵⁷ And they who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.

⁴⁴ And he who betrayed Him had given them a sign, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, it is He. Take Him and lead Him away safely. ⁴⁵ And coming, at once drawing near to Him, he said, Rabbi, Rabbi! And he ardently kissed Him. ⁴⁶ And they laid their hands on Him and seized Him.

¹⁹ But Herod the tetrarch (being reproved by him on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done) ²⁰ added still this above all, that he even shut John up in prison.

¹⁰ And looking around on them all, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he did so. And his hand was restored whole like the other.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives whomever I send receives Me. And he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

⁶ Then as soon as He had said to them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.

¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes. And coming on, they seized him and brought him to the sanhedrin. ¹³ And they set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law. ¹⁴ For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us.

⁴ And he fell to the earth and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? ⁵ And he said, Who are you, lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you persecute. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.

⁸ But Elymas the conjurer (for so his name is, if translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. ⁹ Then Saul (who is also Paul), filled with the Holy Spirit, set his eyes on him ¹⁰ and said, O son of the Devil, full of all deceit and all craftiness, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you. And you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a while. And immediately a mist and a darkness fell on him, and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

⁵ And if anyone will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone will hurt them, so it is right for him to be killed.
