¹ Likewise, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that if any do not obey the Word, they may also be won without the Word by the conduct of the wives, ² having witnessed your chaste behavior in the fear of God. ³ Of whom let not be the adorning of garments, or outward braiding of hair and wearing of gold, or of putting on clothing, ⁴ but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God. ⁵ For so once indeed the holy women hoping in God adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands; ⁶ as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children you became, doing good and fearing no terror. ⁷ Likewise, husbands, live together according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife as to the weaker vessel, the female, as truly being co-heirs together of the grace of life, not cutting off your prayers. ⁸ And finally, all be of one mind, having compassion on one another, loving the brothers, tenderhearted, friendly. ⁹ Never give back evil for evil, or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, giving blessing, knowing that you are called to this so that you might inherit blessing. ¹⁰ For he that wants to love life and to see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile. ¹¹ Let him turn aside from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears open to their prayers. But the Lord's face is against those who do evil. ¹³ And who is the one who will harm you if you become imitators of the good? ¹⁴ But if you also suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. And do not fear their fear, nor be troubled, ¹⁵ but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope in you, with meekness and fear; ¹⁶ having a good conscience, that while they speak against you as evildoers they may be shamed, those falsely accusing your good behavior in Christ. ¹⁷ For it is better, if the will of God wills it, to suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing. ¹⁸ For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, indeed being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit; ¹⁹ in which also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ to disobeying ones, when once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared (in which a few, that is, eight souls were saved through water); ²¹ which figure now also saves us, baptism; not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ; ²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into Heaven, where the angels and authorities and powers are being subjected to Him.

²³ And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh.

³ And Jehovah said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, in his erring; he is flesh. Yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

⁵ And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

¹³ And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. And, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

⁵³ And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.

²² But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her that stays in her house, jewels of silver and jewels of gold and clothing. And you shall put them upon your sons and upon your daughters. And you shall plunder the Egyptians.

² And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.

⁴ And the people heard these evil tidings, and they mourned, and put no ornaments on themselves.

²² And the men came in together with the women, as many as were willing-hearted, bringing bracelets and earrings, and rings and ornaments, all jewels of gold. And everyone who offered waved a wave offering of gold to Jehovah.

⁸ And he made the laver of bronze, and its base bronze, out of the mirrors of serving women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

¹⁰ And any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that are staying among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

³ And I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given of his seed to Molech, to defile My sanctuary, and to profane My holy name.

⁶ And the soul that turns to mediums, and to spirit-knowers, to go lusting after them, I will even set My face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

¹⁷ And I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you. And you shall flee when none pursues you.

¹² And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

¹⁴ For you rebelled against My command in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify Me at the water before their eyes; they were the Waters of Strife in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

¹² It is a land which Jehovah your God cares for. The eyes of Jehovah your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

⁴⁷ For it is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life. And by this Word you shall prolong your days in the land where you go over Jordan, there to possess it.

¹ And Hannah prayed and said, My heart rejoices in Jehovah, my horn is exalted in Jehovah. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation.

⁷ And now stand still, so that I may reason with you before Jehovah of all the righteous acts of Jehovah which He did to you and to your fathers.

⁷ But Jehovah said to Samuel, Do not look on his face, nor on his height, because I have refused him. For He does not see as man sees. For man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart.

³⁰ And Jehu had come to Jezreel. And Jezebel heard, and had painted her face and adorned her head, and looked out at a window.

¹⁵ Now My eyes shall be open, and My ears shall be open to the prayer of this place.

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore from now on you shall have wars.

³⁰ And many years You had patience with them, and testified against them by Your Spirit, by Your prophets, but they would not give ear. And You gave them into the hand of the people of the lands.

¹⁶ And Memucan answered before the king and princes, Vashti the queen has not only done wrong to the king, but also to all the princes, and to all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. ¹⁷ For the matter of the queen shall go out to all women, so that their husbands shall be despised in their eyes, and it shall be reported that King Ahasuerus commanded to bring Vashti the queen in before him, but she did not come. ¹⁸ And this day the princesses of Persia and Media shall say the same to all the king's princes who have heard of the deed of the queen. ¹ And it happened on the third day, Esther put on royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, across from the king's house. And the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, across from the gate of the house.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. And that man was perfect and upright, and one who feared God and turned aside from evil.

⁷ Remember that my life is a breath; my eye shall no more see good. ⁸ The eye of him who has seen me shall see me no more; Your eyes are on me, and I am gone.

²⁵ Now my days are swifter than a runner; they flee away, they see no good.

²⁸ And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to depart from evil is understanding!

²⁸ He has redeemed my soul from passing over into the Pit, and my life shall see the light.

⁸ And now take to yourselves seven young bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And My servant Job will pray for you. ⁴ Jehovah is in His holy temple; Jehovah's throne is in Heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids examine the children of men.

⁹ The meek He will guide in judgment; and the meek He will teach His way.

¹³ I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living.

¹² Who is the man that desires life, and loves days, that he may see good? ¹³ Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile. ¹⁴ Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

⁴⁶ I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

⁶ My soul has long dwelt with a hater of peace. ⁷ I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

⁴ Do good, O Jehovah, to the good, and to the upright in their hearts.

² Surely I have behaved and have quieted my soul, as one weaned by its mother; my soul on me is like one weaned.

⁶ Jehovah lifts up the meek; He throws the wicked down to the ground.

¹⁰ He delights not in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. ¹¹ Jehovah takes pleasure in those who fear Him, who hope in His mercy.

⁴ For Jehovah takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the meek with salvation.

² for they shall add length of days, and long life, and peace to you.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah and depart from evil.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who lay hold upon her; and happy is everyone who keeps her.

²² For they are life to those who find them, and health to all his flesh.

¹⁵ Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well. ¹⁶ Should your overflowing spring be scattered abroad as rivers of waters in the streets. ¹⁷ Let them be only your own, and not strangers' with you. ¹⁸ Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. ¹⁹ Like the loving deer and pleasant doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times, and be ravished always with her love.

³⁵ For whoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor from Jehovah.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is a hateful thing to Jehovah, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. ⁹ The way of the wicked is hateful to Jehovah, but He loves him who pursues righteousness.

²⁹ Jehovah is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

⁶ By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged, and by the fear of Jehovah men turn away from evil. ⁷ When a man's ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

¹⁷ The way of the upright is to turn away from evil; he who keeps his way guards his way.

¹³ Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

¹⁹ A brother offended is like a strong city; and their disagreements are like the bars of a fortress.

²² Do not say, I will repay evil; wait on Jehovah, and He will save you.

⁸ He who increases his wealth by interest and unjust gain, he shall gather it for him who will pity the poor.

¹⁰ Who can find a woman of virtue? For her value is far above rubies.

³⁰ Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Jehovah, she shall be praised.

³ I sought in my heart to drag my flesh with wine, yet leading my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, until I might see where the good for the sons of men might be, what they should do under the heavens all the days of their life.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ learn to do good; seek judgment, reprove the oppressor. Judge the orphan, plead for the widow. ¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, says Jehovah; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.

¹⁸ In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of ankle-bracelets, and the headbands, and the crescents, ¹⁹ the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils; ²⁰ the headdresses, and the leg ornaments, and the sashes, and the houses of the soul, and the amulets; ²¹ the rings and nose jewels; ²² the festal apparel and the outer garments; and the mantles, and the purses; ²³ the mirrors and the fine linen; and the turbans and the veils. ²⁴ And it shall be, instead of sweet smell, there shall be an odor of decay; and instead of a sash, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a wrapping of sackcloth; burning instead of beauty.

¹⁶ But Jehovah of Hosts is exalted in judgment, and God the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness.

¹² Do not say, A conspiracy! to everything of which this people says, A conspiracy! And do not fear their fear, nor be afraid. ¹³ Sanctify Jehovah of Hosts Himself, and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

⁴ But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and shall decide with uprightness for the meek of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

¹⁹ And the meek shall increase joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

²³ But when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, they shall sanctify My name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

¹⁸ And so Jehovah waits to be gracious to you. And therefore He is exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For Jehovah is a God of judgment; blessed are all those who wait for Him.

¹⁰ Do not fear; for I am with you; be not dismayed; for I am your God. I will make you strong; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness. ¹¹ Behold, all those who were angered against you shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing. And those who fight with you shall perish. ¹² You shall seek them, and shall not find them; men warring against you shall be as nothing, and as ceasing. ¹³ For I, Jehovah your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Do not fear; I will help you. ¹⁴ Do not fear, worm of Jacob and men of Israel; I will help you, says Jehovah, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

²¹ Bring near your cause, says Jehovah; bring out your strong reasons, says the King of Jacob.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness out of the prison house.

⁹ that You may say to the prisoners, Go out! To those who are in darkness, Show yourselves! They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

¹² I, I, am He who comforts you. Who are you, that you should fear a man. He shall die, or from the son of man? He shall be made as grass?

¹ Awake! Awake! Put on your strength, Zion; put on your beautiful robes, O Jerusalem, the holy city. For never again shall come to you uncircumcised and unclean ones.

⁴ Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ⁵ But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each one to his own way; and Jehovah has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

¹¹ And of whom have you been afraid or feared, that you have lied and have not remembered Me, nor laid it to your heart? Have I not been silent, even from forever, and you did not fear Me?

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity; whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is on Me; because Jehovah has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul will be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the robes of salvation, He covered me with the robe of righteousness like a bridegroom adorns himself with ornaments, and like a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces; for I am with you to deliver you, says Jehovah.

³² Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number.

³⁰ And you, O desolate one, what will you do? Though you dress with crimson, though you put on ornaments of gold, though you make your eyes large with paint, you shall make yourself beautiful in vain; your lovers will despise you; they will seek your life.

¹⁵ O Jehovah, You know; remember me and visit me, and take vengeance for me on those who seek to hurt me. Do not take me away in Your long-suffering; know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.

¹⁰ For I have set My face against this city for evil, and not for good, says Jehovah. It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

¹² Then Jeremiah spoke to all the rulers and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. ¹³ So now make your ways and your doings good, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God. And Jehovah will repent of the evil that He has spoken against you. ¹⁴ As for me, behold, I am in your hand. Do with me as seems good and right to you. ¹⁵ But know for certain that if you put me to death you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its people. For truly Jehovah has sent me to you to speak all these Words in your ears. ¹⁶ Then the rulers and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets, There is not a sentence of death for this man; for he has spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God.

¹¹ Leave your orphans; I will keep them alive; and let your widows trust in Me.

⁵⁹ The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And Seraiah was a quiet prince.

⁹ I have made your forehead as an adamant harder than flint. Do not be bowed down by their faces, though they are a rebellious house.

⁷ And I will set My face against them; they shall go out from the fire, and the fire shall devour them. And you shall know that I am Jehovah when I set My face against them.

⁷ I have caused you to multiply like the bud of the field, and you are grown, and you are great; and you come in the finest ornaments. Your breasts are formed, and hair is grown, yet you were naked and bare. ⁸ And I passed by you and looked on you, and, behold, your time was the time of love. And I spread my skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord Jehovah. And you became Mine. ⁹ And I washed you with water; I washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil. ¹⁰ I also clothed you with embroidered work, and I shod you with dugong sandals. And I wrapped you in fine linen, and I covered you with silk. ¹¹ And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands and a chain on your neck. ¹² And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head. ¹³ And you were adorned with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered work. You ate fine flour and honey and oil; and you were exceedingly beautiful. And you advanced to regal estate.

⁴⁰ And they have even sent for men to come from far, to whom a messenger was sent. And lo, they came. You washed yourself for them, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with ornaments,

²⁵ And I will sprinkle clean waters on you, and you shall be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from your idols. ²⁶ And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to return a word to you on this matter. ¹⁷ If it is so that our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, then He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up.

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of the ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And the end of it shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, until the end shall be war.

¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah: I was no prophet, nor was I a prophet's son. But I was a herdsman and a gatherer from sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Jehovah took me from behind the flock, and Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to My people Israel. ¹⁶ Now then hear the Word of Jehovah. You say, Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not drop words against the house of Isaac. ¹⁷ So Jehovah says this: Your wife shall be a harlot in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line. And you shall die in a defiled land; and Israel shall surely go into exile out of his land.

¹⁰ For who has despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of Jehovah which run to and fro through the whole earth.

⁹ So speaks Jehovah of Hosts, saying, Judge true judgment, and practice kindness and pity, each man to his brother.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, your King comes to you. He is righteous and victorious, meek and riding on an ass, even on a colt, the son of an ass.

¹ In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David, and to the people of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.

¹⁴ Yet you say, Why? Because Jehovah has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she is your companion and your covenant wife. ¹⁵ And did He not make you one? Yet the vestige of the Spirit is in him. And what of the one? He was seeking a godly seed. Then guard your spirit, and do not act treacherously with the wife of your youth. ¹⁶ Jehovah, the God of Israel, says He hates sending away; and to cover with violence on his garment, says Jehovah of Hosts. Then guard your spirit, and do not act treacherously.

⁵ Blessed are the meek! For they shall inherit the earth.
