⁴ And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Do not let the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his works are very good toward you.

⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood shall be shed by man; for He made man in the image of God.

²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you saying, Do not sin against the youth? And you would not hear. Therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

²⁵ If one man sins against another, the judge shall judge him. But if a man sins against Jehovah, who shall plead for him? But they did not listen to the voice of their father, because Jehovah desired to kill them.

³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father and said to him, Why shall he be killed? What has he done?

¹⁴ And Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and who goes at your bidding, and who is honorable in your house?

²² If a man sins against his neighbor, and if an oath is laid on him to make him swear, and if the oath comes before Your altar in this house,

¹² They rewarded me evil for good; bereaving my soul.

⁴ For my love they are my foes; but I am in prayer. ⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

¹³ Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

¹¹ Deliver those being taken to death, and those stumbling to be killed, unless you hold back. ¹² If you say, Behold, we did not know; does not He who searches the heart consider it? And the Keeper of your soul, does He know? And He repays to a man according to his works.

⁸ Open your mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all the sons of those passing away. ⁹ Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

²⁰ Should evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before You to do good for them, and to turn away Your wrath from them.

¹² And sinning in this way against your brothers, and wounding their conscience, being weak, you sin against Christ.

¹⁵ Everyone hating his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him.
