And he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod here. ¹⁰ And David said, O Lord God of Israel, Your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. ¹¹ Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? And it was told to Saul that David had escaped from Keilah. And he did not go forth. ¹⁴ And David stayed in the wilderness in strongholds, and remained in the stronghold in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul looked for him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand. ¹⁵ And David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. ²⁰ And now, behold, I know well that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.

But David encouraged himself in Jehovah his God. ⁷ And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, Please bring the ephod here to me. And Abiathar brought the ephod there to David. ⁸ And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Go! For you shall surely overtake and will without fail recover all. ⁹ So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those who were left behind stayed. ¹⁰ But David pursued, he and four hundred men. For two hundred stayed behind, who were too exhausted to go over the brook Besor.

²¹ And Abner said to David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, so that they may make a covenant with you, and so that you may reign over all that your heart desires. And David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.

¹¹ They surround me; yea, they surround me, but in the name of Jehovah I will destroy them. ¹² They surround me like bees; they are put out like the fire of thorns; for in the name of Jehovah I will cut them off. ¹³ You have thrust hard at me so that I might fall; but Jehovah helped me.

¹ To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; keep me from the violent man, ² who devised evil things in the heart; they are always gathered for war. ³ They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. ⁴ O Jehovah, keep me from the hands of the wicked; keep me from the violent man who purposed to trip up my steps. ⁵ The proud have hidden cords and a trap for me; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set snares for me. Selah. ⁶ I said to Jehovah, You are my God; O Jehovah, hear the voice of my prayers. ⁷ O Lord Jehovah, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle. ⁸ O Jehovah, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not help his wicked plans, lest they praise themselves. Selah. ⁹ As for the head of those around me, let the evil of their own lips cover them.

¹⁶ for their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

¹⁶ For they do not sleep, except when they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall.

²³ The desire of the righteous is only good; the hope of the wicked is wrath.

²⁶ In the fear of Jehovah is strong hope, and His sons shall have a place of refuge.

²¹ There are many purposes in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah shall stand.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Jehovah.

⁹ Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so does the sweetness of one's friend by advice from the heart.

¹⁷ Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend.

¹⁵ Like a roaring lion and a ranging bear, so is a wicked ruler over the helpless people.

¹² If a ruler listens to lies, all his servants are wicked.

²⁶ Many seek the ruler's favor; but each man's judgment comes from Jehovah.

⁹ Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. ¹⁰ For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he does not have another to help him. ¹¹ Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm alone? ¹² And if one overthrows him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

¹⁴ There was a little city, and few men in it; and a great king came against it and besieged it, and built huge bulwarks against it. ¹⁵ And a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that poor man.

¹⁴ My Beloved is to me like a cluster of henna in the vineyards of Engedi.

¹⁵ Woe to those who go deep to hide their purpose from Jehovah! And their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? And who knows us?

³ Make the weak hands strong and make the feeble knees sure. ⁴ Say to those of a hasty heart, Be strong, fear not; behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the full dealing of God. He will come and save you.

¹⁰ Do not fear; for I am with you; be not dismayed; for I am your God. I will make you strong; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.

¹⁴ Do not fear, worm of Jacob and men of Israel; I will help you, says Jehovah, and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against you shall be blessed; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the inheritance of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness is from Me, says Jehovah.

⁵ Hear the Word of Jehovah, you who tremble at His Word; your brothers who hated you, who cast you out for My name's sake, said, Let Jehovah be glorified. But He will appear to your joy, and they will be ashamed.

²³ O Jehovah, I know that the way of man does not belong to man; it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

¹⁸ And Jehovah made me know, and I knew. Then You showed me their doings. ¹⁹ But I was like a docile lamb being brought to the slaughter. And I did not know that they had plotted evils against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may be remembered no more.

⁵ If you have run with footmen, and they wore you out, then how can you compete with horses? And if you feel secure in the land of peace, then how will you do in the swelling of the Jordan?

³ Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and inscrutable things which you do not know.

²⁶ And the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But Jehovah hid them.

²² Because with lies you have saddened the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and have made the hands of the wicked strong, so that he should not turn from his wicked way, by promising him life;

¹⁰ And it will be, the fishermen shall stand on it from En-gedi even to En-eglaim, a spreading place for nets shall be there. Their fish shall be according to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.

¹¹ Her heads judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver, yet they will lean on Jehovah and say, Is not Jehovah among us? No evil can come on us!

² And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, you being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He shall come forth to Me, to become Ruler in Israel, He whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.

¹⁵ You shall sow, but you shall not reap; you shall tread the olives, but you shall not anoint yourself with oil; and sweet wine, but shall not drink wine.

⁷ Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. ⁸ For each one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.

¹ And after two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by craft and kill Him.

¹⁰ And Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them. ¹¹ And when they heard, they were glad and promised to give him silver. And he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.

³² Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

⁴³ For the days will come on you that your enemies will raise up a rampart to you, and will surround you, and will keep you in on every side. ⁴⁴ And they will tear you down, and your children within you, and will not leave a stone on a stone because you did not know the time of your visitation.

³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not. And when you are converted, strengthen your brothers.

⁴³ And an angel appeared to Him from Heaven, strengthening Him.

² And Judas who betrayed Him also knew the place. For Jesus oftentimes went there with His disciples. ³ Then Judas, having received a band and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

³⁹ But if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it, lest perhaps you be found even to fight against God.

²⁴ But their plot was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night in order to kill him.

⁶ they were aware of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the country around them.

¹⁶ And hearing of the ambush, Paul's sister's son, having come near, and entering into the fortress, he reported to Paul. ¹⁷ And calling one of the centurions, Paul said, Bring this young man to the chiliarch, for he has a certain thing to tell him. ¹⁸ So he took him and brought him to the chiliarch and said, Paul the prisoner called me and asked me to bring this young man to you, who has something to say to you.

¹⁶ And when we came into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the camp commander. But Paul was allowed to dwell by himself, with a soldier guarding him.

¹⁵ "their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their way,

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

²⁴ whenever I may go into Spain, I will come to you. For in traveling through I hope to see you, and to be set forward there by you, if first I may be filled of you in part.

⁸ For, brothers, we would not have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength; so much so that we despaired even of life.

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

¹ Therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ persecutions, afflictions, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra. What persecutions I endured! But the Lord delivered me out of all.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, that through me the preaching might be fulfilled, and that all the nations might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. ¹⁸ And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me to His heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

¹² Because of this, straighten up the hands which hang down and the enfeebled knees. ¹³ And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.

⁶ so that we may boldly say, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me."

¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman. And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

⁹ And they went up over the breadth of the earth and circled around the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of Heaven and devoured them.
