The tender grass springs out of the earth through shining after rain. ⁵ Although my house is not so with God, yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure. For all my salvation, and all my desire, will He not make it grow? ⁶ But the wicked, all of them, shall be like a thorn thrust away, because they cannot be taken by the hand. ⁷ But the man who shall touch them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. And they shall be utterly burned in their place. ⁸ These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief of the three; he was called Adino the Eznite, because of the eight hundred he killed at one time. ⁹ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there to battle; and the men of Israel had gone up; ¹⁰ he arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and until his hand clung to the sword. And Jehovah worked a great victory that day. And the people returned after him only to spoil. ¹¹ And next was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. ⁵ And now if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to Me above all the nations; for all the earth is Mine. ⁶ And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

⁶ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his cause. ⁷ Keep far from a false matter, and do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked. ⁸ And you shall take no bribe, for the bribe blinds the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

¹⁰ And any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that are staying among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

⁴ And the mixed multitude in their midst lusted with great lust. And the sons of Israel also turned and wept, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic.

⁷ And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, defy Israel. ⁸ How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? Or how shall I defy whom Jehovah has not defied?

⁷ and its drink offering shall be the fourth of a hin for the one lamb. Pour a drink offering of strong drink to Jehovah in the holy place.

²⁴ And they turned and went up into the mountain and came to the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

¹³ Men, the sons of Belial, have gone out from among you and have drawn away those who live in their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known,

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not pervert judgment; you shall not respect persons, nor take a gift. ⁴ He is the Rock; His work is perfect. For all His ways are just, a God of faithfulness, and without evil; just and upright is He.

³⁰ How shall one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them and Jehovah had shut them up? ³¹ For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

¹ And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death.

But as for you, no one has been able to stand before you to this day. ¹⁰ One man of you shall chase a thousand. For Jehovah your God is He who fights for you, as He has promised you. ¹¹ And take good heed to yourselves that you love Jehovah your God. ¹² Otherwise, if you go back in any way, and hold to those left of these nations, these that remain among you, and shall marry them and go in to them and they to you, ¹³ know for a certainty that Jehovah your God will no more drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and whips in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Jehovah your God has given you. ¹⁴ And behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your heart and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Jehovah your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass to you. Not one thing of it has failed. ¹⁵ And it shall be, as comes to you every good thing which Jehovah your God has spoken to you has come to you, so shall Jehovah bring on you every evil thing until He has destroyed you from off this good land which Jehovah your God has given you, ¹⁶ when you transgress the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them, then shall the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which He has given to you.

³⁰ And Jehovah, the God of Israel says, I said indeed, Your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever. But now Jehovah says, Be it far from Me! For those who honor Me I will honor, and those that think little of Me shall be lightly regarded.

³⁵ And I will raise up a faithful priest to Myself, one who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. And I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.

⁶ And they were gathered to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured out before Jehovah, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.

⁵ After that you shall come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is. And it will happen to you when you come there to the city, even you shall meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a harp and a tambourine and a flute and a lyre before them. ³⁴ And David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock. ³⁵ And I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb out of its mouth. And when it rose against me, I caught it by the beard, and struck it and killed it. ³⁶ Your servant killed both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.

But I come to you in the name of Jehovah of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. ⁴⁶ Jehovah will deliver you into my hand today, and I will strike you and take your head from you and give the bodies of the army of the Philistines to the birds of the air today, and to the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

⁵¹ And David ran and stood on the Philistine, and took out his sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, and fled.

⁵ For he took his life in his hand and killed the Philistine, and Jehovah worked out a great salvation for all Israel. You saw and rejoiced! Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?

¹ And David left there and escaped to the cave Adullam. And his brothers and all his father's house heard, and went down to him there.

¹⁴ And Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and who goes at your bidding, and who is honorable in your house?

²² And David swore to Saul. And Saul went home, but David and his men went up into the hold.

²⁸ Please forgive the trespass of your handmaid. For Jehovah will certainly make a sure house for my lord, because my lord fights the battles of Jehovah, and evil has not been found in you all your days.

⁶ And David answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, the brother of Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to the camp to Saul? And Abishai said, I will go down with you. ⁷ So David and Abishai came to the people by night. And behold, Saul lay sleeping in the tent, and his spear stuck in the ground at his head. But Abner and the people lay around him. ⁸ And Abishai said to David, God has shut up your enemy into your hand this day. And please let me strike him with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not repeat it to him.

Your throne shall be established forever.

¹⁸ Then King David went in and sat before Jehovah. And he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah? And what is my house, that You have brought me here?

³ David also struck Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

⁸ And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.

And Joab sent Uriah to David. ⁷ And when Uriah had come to him, David asked how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war went. ⁸ And David said to Uriah, Go down to your house and wash your feet. And Uriah left the king's house. And a gift from the king went out after him. ⁹ But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house. ¹⁰ And they told David, saying, Uriah did not go to his house. And David said to Uriah, Did you not come from a journey? Why have you not gone down to your house? ¹¹ And Uriah said to David, The ark and Israel and Judah abide in tents. And my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are camped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. ¹² And David said to Uriah, Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you go. And Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next day. ¹³ And when David had called him, he ate and drank before him. And he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house. ¹⁴ And it happened in the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. ¹⁵ And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and draw back from him so that he may be stricken and die. ¹⁶ And it happened when Joab observed the city, he sent Uriah to a place where he knew brave men were. ¹⁷ And the men of the city went out and fought with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell. And Uriah the Hittite also died. ¹⁸ Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war. ¹⁹ And he commanded the messenger saying, When you have made an end of telling the matters of the war to the king, ²⁰ and if it be so that the king's wrath arise, and he say to you, Why did you approach so near to the city when you fought? Did you not know that they would shoot from the wall? ²¹ Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerub-besheth? Did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you go near the wall? And you shall say, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also. ²² And the messenger departed, and came and told David all that Joab had sent him to tell. ²³ And the messenger said to David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out to us to the field, and we were upon them even to the entering of the gate. ²⁴ And the shooters shot from off the wall upon your servants, and some of the king's servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also. ²⁵ Then David said to the messenger, So you shall say to Joab, Do not let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city and overthrow it. And you encourage him. ²⁶ And the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, and mourned for her husband. ²⁷ And when her mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

⁹ Why have you despised the Word of Jehovah, to do evil in His sight? You have stricken Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. ¹⁰ And therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.

¹⁴ But he would not listen to her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her and lay with her.

²⁸ And Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, And watch when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, Strike Amnon, you shall kill him. Do not fear. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous, and be brave.

² And Joab sent to Tekoah and brought a wise woman from there. And he said to her, Please pretend yourself to be a mourner, and put on mourning clothes now, and do not anoint yourself with oil. But be like a woman who has mourned for the dead a long time.

¹⁸ Violence will no more be heard in your land, wasting nor ruin within your borders; but you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise. ¹⁹ The sun will no more be your light by day; nor the brightness of the moon give light to you; but Jehovah will be to you for everlasting light, and your God your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for Jehovah will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended.

⁸ For I Jehovah love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

³ I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with Me; for I will tread them in My anger and trample them in My fury; and their blood will be sprinkled on My garments, and I will stain all My clothing.

⁵ And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; therefore My own arm has saved for Me; and My fury upheld Me.

⁵ Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and act wisely, and shall do judgment and justice in the earth.

⁴⁰ And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good. But I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.

²⁵ So says Jehovah: If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not given the ordinances of the heavens and the earth, ²⁶ then I will cast away the seed of Jacob, and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will bring back their captivity, and have mercy on them.

¹⁹ Arise, cry out in the night. At the beginning of the watches, pour out your heart like water before the face of Jehovah. Lift up your hands toward Him for the life of your children who are faint for hunger in the head of every street.

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, and of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor frightened by their faces, though they are a rebellious house.

²⁶ And I will cut a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them, and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever.

³ Then we shall know, if we follow on to know Jehovah. His going out is prepared as the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

⁵ So I have cut them down by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth. And your judgments were as the light that goes forth.

⁵ who chant with the mouth of the harp; they invent instruments of music for themselves, like David;

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the booth of David that has fallen, and close up its breaks; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old;

¹⁵ Yet I will bring an heir to you, O dweller of Mareshah. The glory of Israel shall come to Adullam.

⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples, as dew from Jehovah, as showers on a blade of the grass, which does not wait for man, nor delay for the sons of men.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, your King comes to you. He is righteous and victorious, meek and riding on an ass, even on a colt, the son of an ass.

² But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise, and healing will be on His wings. And you shall go out and frisk like calves of the stall.

⁶ and Jesse fathered David the king. And David the king fathered Solomon of her who had been wife of Uriah.

¹⁰ And now also, the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water to repentance. But He who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; ¹² whose fan is in His hand, and He will cleanse His floor and gather His wheat into the storehouse; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

⁸ And some fell on the good ground and yielded fruit, indeed one a hundredfold, and one sixty, and one thirty.

²³ But that sown on the good ground is this: he who hears the Word and understands; who also bears fruit and produces one truly a hundredfold; and one sixty; and one thirty.

⁴¹ The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity, ⁴² and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁴³ He said to them, How then does David by the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

²⁸ For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: "The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I place Your enemies as Your footstool."

²⁴ And He said to them, This is My blood of the New Covenant, which is poured out for many.

⁵⁰ And leaving Him, all fled.

⁷⁸ through the tender mercy of our God; by which the Dayspring from on high has visited us, ⁷⁹ to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him. And they sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this one to reign over us.

²⁷ But those who are my enemies, who did not desire that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.

⁴² Even David himself says in the Book of Psalms, "The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand

⁴⁴ And He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms about Me.

⁷ This one came as a witness, to bear witness concerning the Light, so that all might believe through him.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give Me to drink, you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water.

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

⁵² Then the Jews argued with one another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus says to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves. ⁵⁴ Whoever partakes of My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

³⁷ And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered. And they gather and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

²⁵ For David speaks concerning Him, "I foresaw the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand, that I should not be moved. ²⁶ Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad; and also My flesh shall rest in hope, ²⁷ because You will not leave My soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your holy One to see corruption. ²⁸ You revealed to Me the ways of life. You will fill Me with joy with Your countenance." ²⁹ Men, brothers, it is permitted to say to you with plainness as to the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit upon his throne, ³¹ seeing this beforehand, he spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor would His flesh see corruption,

³⁴ And that He raised Him up from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He spoke in this way: "I will give you the holy promises of David."

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus Christ, to testify fully the gospel of the grace of God.

⁷ For one will with difficulty die for a righteous one, yet perhaps one would even dare to die for a good one.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ did not work out by me for the obedience of the nations in word and deed,

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he who plants anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

³⁰ And why are we also in danger every hour?

⁴¹ one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constrains us, judging this, that if one died for all, then all died;

¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness ¹⁵ and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, ¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

¹⁷ Yea, and if I am offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all.

¹⁵ Having stripped rulers and authorities, He made a show of them publicly, triumphing over them in it.

¹⁶ Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

⁸ in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming,

⁸ But to the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

⁷ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness,

⁸ But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected and is a curse, whose end is to be burned.)

¹⁹ which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil,

²⁰ Now may the God of peace (who brought again our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant)

¹³ Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

¹³ But I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by a reminder, ¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is soon, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will also be diligent to cause you to always have memory of these things after my departure.

²¹ For prophecy was not borne at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke being borne along by the Holy Spirit.
