But on David, and on his seed, and on his house, and on his throne, there shall be peace forever from Jehovah. ³⁴ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and fell on him and killed him. And he was buried in his own house in the wilderness. ³⁵ And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in his place. And the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.

⁴⁶ And the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell on him so that he died. And the kingdom was made sure in the hand of Solomon.

He also went down and killed a lion in a pit on a snowy day. ²³ And he killed an Egyptian, a man of stature, five cubits high. And in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam. And he went down to him with a staff and wrenched the spear out of the Egyptians hand, and killed him with his own spear. ²⁴ These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did, and had the name among the three mighty ones.

⁸ And of the Gadites mighty men separated themselves to David into the stronghold in the wilderness, men of the army for battle, setting in order shield and buckler, and their faces were the faces of a lion, and as gazelles on the heights for swiftness:

¹⁷ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites. And the sons of David were first ones at the hand of the king.

⁵ The third commander of the army for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ⁶ This is that Benaiah who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty. And in his division was Ammizabad his son.
