⁷ O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us the shame of our faces, as it is today to the men of Judah and to the people of Jerusalem, and to all Israel who are near and who are afar off, through all the countries where You have driven them because of their sin which they have sinned against You.

³³ And I will scatter you among the nations, and will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall be waste, and your cities waste. ³⁴ Then shall the land enjoy its sabbaths, as long as it lies waste, and you are in your enemies' land; then shall the land rest and enjoy its sabbaths.

²⁷ And Jehovah shall scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the nations where Jehovah shall drive you.

⁴ He is the Rock; His work is perfect. For all His ways are just, a God of faithfulness, and without evil; just and upright is He.

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria. And he placed them in Halah, and in Habor by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. ⁷ And it happened because the sons of Israel had sinned against Jehovah their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

⁶ And I said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to You, my God. For our iniquities have increased over our heads, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens. ⁷ Since the days of our fathers we have been in a great sin until this day. And for our iniquities we, our kings, our priests, have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to shame of face, as it is this day.

¹³ And after all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great sin, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such an escape as this,

³³ But You are just in all that is brought upon us, for You have done right, but we have done wickedly.

¹⁵ My shame is always before me, and the shame of my face has covered me:

⁴ Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done evil in Your sight; that You might be justified when You speak, and be clear when You judge.

¹⁴ Deliver me from the guilt of shedding blood, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.

¹³⁷ TZADDI: You are righteous, O Jehovah, and Your judgments are right.

¹¹ And it shall be in that day, the Lord shall again set His hand, the second time, to recover the remnant of His people that remains, from Assyria and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Ethiopia, and from Persia, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the coasts of the sea.

¹⁶ They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them; they who are makers of idols shall go into disgrace together.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their rulers, and their priests, and their prophets; ²⁷ saying to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You gave me birth. For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise and save us!

²⁵ We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us; for we have sinned against Jehovah our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God.

¹ Righteous are You, O Jehovah, that I might contend with You; yet let me speak with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those happy who deal treacherously?

⁹ and I will even make them a horror for evil to all the kingdoms of the earth, for a reproach and a proverb, a gibe and a curse, there in all places where I shall drive them.

⁶³ so that you may remember and be ashamed; and it will not be possible to open your mouth any more because of your shame; in that I am propitiated for all that you have done, says the Lord Jehovah.

³¹ And you shall remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall despise yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

⁸ O Lord, shame of face belongs to us, to our kings, to our rulers, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

¹⁴ Therefore Jehovah has watched over the evil, and has brought it on us. For Jehovah our God is righteous in all His works which He does; for we did not obey His voice.

⁹ For lo, I will command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations, as one shakes with a sieve, yet not a grain shall fall to the earth.

⁴⁰ But answering, the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are in the same condemnation. ⁴¹ And we indeed justly so, for we receive the due reward of our deeds, but this Man has done nothing amiss.

⁵ And dwelling at Jerusalem there were Jews, devout men out of every nation under heaven. ⁶ But this sound occurring, the multitude came together and were confounded, because they each heard them speaking in his own dialect. ⁷ And they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not these who speak all Galileans? ⁸ And how do we each hear in our own dialect in which we were born? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya around Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking the great things of God in our own languages.

²¹ What fruit did you have then in those things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
