¹ And God spoke all these words, saying, ² I am Jehovah your God, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ³ You shall have no other gods before Me. ⁴ You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me, ⁶ and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments. ⁷ You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain. For Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain. ⁸ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹ Six days you shall labor and do all your work. ¹⁰ But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Jehovah your God. You shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger within your gates. ¹¹ For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and sanctified it. ¹² Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which Jehovah your God gives you. ¹³ You shall not kill. ¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁵ You shall not steal. ¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. ¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's. ¹⁸ And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. And when the people saw, they trembled, and stood afar off. ¹⁹ And they said to Moses, You speak with us, and we will hear. But let not God speak with us, lest we die. ²⁰ And Moses said to the people, Do not fear, for God has come to test you, and so that His fear may be before your faces, so that you may not sin. ²¹ And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was. ²² And Jehovah said to Moses, So you shall say to the sons of Israel, You have seen that I have talked with you from the heavens. ²³ You shall not make with Me gods of silver, neither shall you make to you gods of gold. ²⁴ You shall make an altar of earth to Me, and shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In all places where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. ²⁵ And if you will make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of cut stone. For if you lift up your tool upon it, you have defiled it. ²⁶ And you shall not go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness be not uncovered on it.

³³ Did people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire as you have heard and live?

³⁶ He made you hear His voice out of Heaven so that He might teach you. And He showed you His great fire upon earth. And you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.

⁴ Jehovah talked with you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire;

²² Jehovah spoke these words to all your assembly in the mountain out of the midst of the fire of the cloud and of the thick darkness with a great voice. And He added no more. And He wrote them in two tablets of stone and delivered them to me.

³⁸ This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received the living words to give to us,

⁵³ who received the Law through disposition of angels, and did not keep it.

⁷ And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give the land to you in which you are a stranger, and to your seed after you, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. And I will be their God.

¹ And Jehovah said to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, so that I might show these My signs before him, ² and so that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's sons, what things I have worked in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, so that you may know that I am Jehovah. ³ And Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, So says Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they may serve Me. ⁴ For if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring the locusts into your coast. ⁵ And they shall cover the face of the land, so that one cannot be able to see the earth. And they shall eat the rest of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field. ⁶ And they shall fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, which neither your fathers, nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day they were upon the earth until this day. And he turned himself and went out from Pharaoh. ⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go so that they may serve Jehovah their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed? ⁸ And Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, Go! Serve Jehovah your God. Who are the ones that shall go? ⁹ And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters. We will go with our flocks and with our herds. For we must hold a feast to Jehovah. ¹⁰ And he said to them, May Jehovah be so with you, as I send you and your little ones away. Watch out, for evil is before you. ¹¹ Not so! You men go now and serve Jehovah, for it is you who desired it. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence. ¹² And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land, all that the hail has left. ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and Jehovah brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all the night. When it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. ¹⁴ And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested in all the coasts of Egypt, very numerous. Before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole earth so that the land was darkened. And they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. And there did not remain any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

³ And Moses said to the people, Remember this day in which you came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. For Jehovah brought you out from this place by the strength of His hand. There shall be no leaven eaten.

³⁶ You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

⁴³ so that your generations may know that I made the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Jehovah your God.

¹ You shall make no idols to yourselves; and you shall not set up for yourselves graven images, or a memorial pillar. And you shall not set up any image of stone in your land in order to bow down to it. For I am Jehovah your God.

¹³ I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from being their bondmen. And I have broken the bonds of your yoke, and made you go upright.

⁶ I am Jehovah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and with a stretched-out arm. Therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.

⁴ Hear, O, Israel. Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. ⁵ And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

⁸ But because Jehovah loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, Jehovah has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁰ And you shall stone him with stones so that he dies, because he has sought to drive you away from Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves.

¹⁵ And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

⁶ And the Egyptians ill-treated us, and afflicted us, and laid hard bondage on us. ⁷ And when we cried to Jehovah, the God of our fathers, Jehovah heard our voice and looked on our afflictions and our labor and our oppression. ⁸ And Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fearful might, and with miracles and with wonders.

⁵ And Jehovah his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And they struck him and carried away a great captivity, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.

⁷ Hear, My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God.

¹⁰ I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

¹ At that time, says Jehovah, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.

³³ but this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel: After those days, says Jehovah, I will put My Law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

⁴ Yet I am Jehovah your God from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me. For there is no Savior besides Me.

²⁹ Or is He the God of the Jews only, and not also of the nations? Yes, of the nations also,

¹² For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call on Him.

¹¹ Who is like You, O Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

²³ You shall not make with Me gods of silver, neither shall you make to you gods of gold.

⁷ You shall have no other gods besides Me.

⁵ And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

¹⁴ You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people all around you,

¹⁸ And Jehovah drove out from before us all the people, even the Amorites who lived in the land. We will also serve Jehovah, for He is our God. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve Jehovah, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. ²⁰ If you forsake Jehovah and serve strange gods, then He will turn and do you harm, and destroy you after He has done you good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve Jehovah. ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen Jehovah, to serve Him. And they said, We are witnesses. ²³ And now put away the strange gods among you, and incline your heart to Jehovah, the God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, We will serve Jehovah our God, and His voice we will obey.

²⁹ And every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared Jehovah, and made to themselves, of the lowest of them, priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared Jehovah and served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations whom they removed from there. ³⁴ Until this day they do according to their former ways. They do not fear Jehovah, neither do they do according to their statutes, or according to their ordinances, or according to the Law and commandment which Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel. ³⁵ And Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them,

² Give to Jehovah the glory due to His name; worship Jehovah in the beauty of holiness.

²⁵ Whom have I in Heaven? And besides You I desire none on earth.

⁹ there shall be no strange god in you; nor shall you worship any strange god.

⁴ Trust in Jehovah forever; for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

¹⁰ You are My witnesses, says Jehovah, and My servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me no God was formed, nor shall there be after Me.

⁸ Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you and made you hear since then? So you are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Yea, there is none. I have not known a Rock.

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this of old? Who has told it from then? Is it not I, Jehovah? And there is no other God besides Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me. ²² Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

⁹ Remember former things from forever; for I am God, and no other is God, even none like Me,

⁶ And do not go after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no harm.

¹⁵ I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending, saying, Return now each man from his evil way, and make your doings good, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you have not bowed down your ear, nor listened to Me.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve."

⁴ Then concerning the eating of the things sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one.

⁶ but there is to us only one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we by Him.

⁵ For you know this, that no fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous one (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, those who mind earthly things.)

¹⁸ Let no one defraud you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, intruding into things which he has not seen, without a cause being vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us an understanding so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and the everlasting life. ²¹ Little children, guard yourselves from idols. Amen.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See, do not do it! I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁹ Then he said to me, Behold! See, do not do it! For I am your fellow-servant, and of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the Words of this Book. Do worship to God.

¹ And the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, and the people gathered themselves to Aaron. And they said to him, Up! Make us gods who shall go before us. For this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made them a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, These are your gods, O Israel, who have brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

²³ For they said to me, Make us gods who shall go before us. For this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

¹⁷ You shall make you no molten gods.

⁴ Do not turn to idols, nor make molten gods to yourselves. I am Jehovah your God.

¹⁵ Therefore take good heed to yourselves, for you saw no kind of likeness on the day Jehovah spoke to you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire, ¹⁶ lest you act corruptly and make yourselves a graven image, the likeness of any figure, the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any beast on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flies in the air, ¹⁸ the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish in the waters beneath the earth; ¹⁹ and lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, lest you should be driven to worship them and serve them, which Jehovah your God has allotted to all nations under all the heavens.

²³ Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He made with you, and make you a graven image, a likeness of anything which Jehovah your God has forbidden you. ²⁴ For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. ²⁵ When you father sons and sons of sons, and when you shall have remained long in the land and have dealt corruptly by making a graven image, the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, to provoke Him to anger,

⁸ You shall not make a graven image for you, any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or in the earth beneath, or in the waters beneath the earth.

¹⁵ Cursed is the man that makes any graven or molten image, an abomination to Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

²⁸ And the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O, Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!

⁷ And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.

⁷ All those who serve graven images are ashamed, those who boast themselves in idols; all gods bow down before Him.

⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; ⁶ they have ears, but they do not hear; they have noses, but they do not smell; ⁷ they have hands, but they do not handle; they have feet, but they do not walk; they do not mutter through their throat. ⁸ The ones who make them are like them, and everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ¹⁶ They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; ¹⁷ they have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. ¹⁸ Those who make them are like them, everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁸ To whom then will you compare God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? ¹⁹ The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains. ²⁰ He too poor for that offering chooses a tree that will not rot; he looks for a skillful workman to prepare a graven image that will not totter.

⁸ I am Jehovah; that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images.

¹⁷ They are turned back, they are greatly ashamed, those who trust in graven images and who say to the images, You are our gods.

⁹ Those who make a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things in which they delight shall not help; and they are their own witnesses. They do not see nor know, that they may be ashamed. ¹⁰ Who has formed a god, or melted a graven image that is good for nothing? ¹¹ Behold, all his companions shall be ashamed; and the craftsmen; they are from men. They shall assemble; all of them shall stand; they shall dread; they shall be ashamed together. ¹² He engraves iron with a tool. He works in the coals, and forms it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms. Then, he is hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water, and is weak. ¹³ He fashions wood, and stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil; he shapes it with carving tools, and he marks it out with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to sit in the house. ¹⁴ He cuts down cedars, and takes cypress and oak, which he makes the trees of the forest strong for him; he plants a tree, and the rain makes it grow. ¹⁵ And it shall be for a man to burn; for he will take some of it and warm himself. Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread; yes, he makes a god and worships; he makes it a graven image and falls down to it. ¹⁶ He burns part of it in the fire; with part of it he eats flesh; he roasts roast and is satisfied; yea, he warms himself, and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire. ¹⁷ And the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image; he falls down to it and worships, and prays to it, and says, Deliver me! for you are my god. ¹⁸ They have not known nor understood; for He has shut their eyes so that they cannot see; and their hearts so that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ And none thinks within his heart, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and eaten; and shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree? ²⁰ He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside, so that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

¹⁶ They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them; they who are makers of idols shall go into disgrace together.

⁵ To whom will you compare Me, and make Me equal, and compare Me, that we may be alike? ⁶ They pour gold out of the bag, and weigh silver out of the measuring rod, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god; they fall down, yea, they bow down. ⁷ They carry it on the shoulder, they carry it and set it in its place, and it stands; it shall not move from its place. Yes, one shall cry to it, yet it cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble. ⁸ Remember this, and be a man; return it on your heart, O sinners.

³ For the customs of the people are vain; for one cuts a tree out of the forest with the axe, the work of the hands of the workman. ⁴ They adorn it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and hammers, so that it will not wobble. ⁵ They are like a rounded post, and they cannot speak. They must surely be lifted, because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them; for they cannot do evil nor good, for it is not in them.

⁸ But they are all at once foolish and animal-like; the tree is an example of vanities. ⁹ Silver beaten into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the goldsmith. Violet and purple is their clothing; they are all the work of skillful ones.

¹⁴ Every man is stupid for lack of knowledge; every refiner is put to shame by the graven image; for his molten image is a lie, and no breath is in them. ¹⁵ They are vanity, the work of delusion; in the time of their judgment they shall perish. ¹⁶ The Portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the Maker of all things; and Israel is the rod of His inheritance. Jehovah of Hosts is His name.

¹⁰ And I went in and saw. And behold, every kind of creeping thing, and hateful beast, and all the idols of the house of Israel, were carved on the wall all around.

²⁹ Then being offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, engraved by art and man's imagination.

²⁶ And you see and hear that, not only at Ephesus, but almost all Asia, this Paul having persuaded, he has perverted a huge crowd, saying that those which are made with hands are no gods. ²⁷ And not only is this dangerous to us, our share coming into dispute, but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted for nothing, and her magnificence is also about to be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships. ²⁸ And hearing, and becoming full of anger, they cried out, saying, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians. ²⁹ And all the city was filled with confusion. And they rushed with one accord to the theater, keeping a firm grip on Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, traveling companions of Paul. ³⁰ And Paul intending to go in to the mob, the disciples did not allow him. ³¹ And some of the chief men of Asia, being his friends, sent to him, begging him not to give himself into the theater. ³² Then indeed others cried out, some other things; for the assembly was confused, and most of them did not know why they had come together. ³³ And they dragged Alexander forward out of the crowd, the Jews thrusting him forward. And waving his hand Alexander desired to defend himself to the mob. ³⁴ But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice cried out for two hours' time, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians! ³⁵ And quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, Men, Ephesians! What one of you does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a worshiper of the great goddess Artemis, and of That Fallen from the Sky?

²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things.

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and golden, and silver, and bronze, and stone, and wooden idols (which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk).

¹⁴ And it deceives those dwelling on the earth, because of the miracles which were given to it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling on the earth that they should make an image to the beast who had the wound by a sword and lived. ¹⁵ And there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might both speak, and might cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

⁹ And a third angel followed them, saying with a great voice, If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives a mark in his forehead or in his hand, ¹⁰ he also will drink of the wine of the anger of God, having been mixed undiluted in the cup of His wrath. And he will be tormented by fire and brimstone before the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. ¹¹ And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. And they have no rest day or night, those who worship the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.

² And the first went and poured out his vial on the earth. And a bad and grievous sore fell on the men who had the mark of the beast, and on those who worshiped his image.

²⁴ You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them. And you shall not do according to their works. But you shall surely pull them down, and surely you shall smash their images.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him and proclaimed, Jehovah! Jehovah God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the sons, and on the sons of sons, to the third and to the fourth generation.

¹⁴ For you shall worship no other god. For Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God;

⁵ then I will set My face against that man and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go lusting after him to commit adultery with Molech, from among their people.

²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters you shall eat.

³⁹ And they that are left of you shall putrefy in their iniquity in the lands of your enemies. And also they shall putrefy with them in the iniquities of their fathers. ⁴⁰ If they shall confess their wilfulness and the wilfulness of their fathers, with their sin which they sinned against Me, and that also they have walked contrary to Me,

¹⁸ Jehovah is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation.

³³ And your sons shall feed in the wilderness forty years and bear your fornications, until your dead bodies have wasted in the wilderness.

²⁴ For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

⁹ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me,

¹⁵ for Jehovah your God is a jealous God among you, lest the anger of Jehovah your God be kindled against you and destroy you from off the face of the earth.

¹⁰ And He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slow to repay him who hates Him. He will repay him to his face.

²¹ They have moved Me to jealousy with a no-god. They have provoked Me to anger with their vanities. And I will move them to jealousy with a no-people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

⁴¹ If I sharpen My glittering sword, and if My hand takes hold in judgment, I will give vengeance to My enemies and will reward those that hate Me.

⁷ so that you do not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves to them.

¹⁶ when you transgress the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them, then shall the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which He has given to you.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve Jehovah, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

¹⁹ And it happened when the judge was dead, they returned and made themselves more rotten than their fathers in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them. They did not cease from their own doings nor from their stubborn way.

² So says Jehovah of Hosts, I will visit Amalek with what he did to Israel, how he set against him in the way when he came up from Egypt. ³ Now go and strike Amalek, and completely destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

¹ And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year. And David inquired of Jehovah. And Jehovah answered, For Saul, and for his bloody house, because he killed the Gibeonites.

⁶ let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah. And the king said, I will give them.

²⁹ Do you see how Ahab humbles himself before Me? Because he humbles himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days. But in his son's days I will bring the evil on his house.

³⁵ And Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them,

⁴¹ And it happened, these nations feared Jehovah, and they served their graven images, both their sons and their sons' sons, as their fathers did, they do until this day.

²⁶ But Jehovah did not turn from the heat of His great wrath, with which His anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him.

¹⁴ And it happened after Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the sons of Seir and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them and burned incense to them.

⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, nor is there any to deliver them.

¹⁹ God lays up his iniquity for his children. He repays him, and he knows.

⁵⁸ For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.

⁸ O do not remember against us our former sins; let Your tender mercies meet us quickly; for we are brought very low.

¹⁵ The haters of Jehovah would have been found liars to Him, and their time would have lasted forever.

¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered to Jehovah; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man; therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not take any ransom; nor will he be willing if you multiply the gifts.

³⁶ But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all who hate me love death.

²⁰ You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you ruined your land and killed your people; the seed of evildoers shall never be famous. ²¹ Prepare slaughter for his sons, because of the iniquity of their fathers, so that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

¹⁵ And it shall be for a man to burn; for he will take some of it and warm himself. Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread; yes, he makes a god and worships; he makes it a graven image and falls down to it.

¹⁹ And none thinks within his heart, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and eaten; and shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me; I will not be silent, except I will repay; yea, I will repay into their bosom ⁷ your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, says Jehovah, they that burned incense on the mountains, and blasphemed Me on the hills. And I will measure their former work into their bosom.

⁹ Therefore I will contend with you, says Jehovah, and with your son's sons I will enter into judgment.

¹⁸ You show loving-kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their sons after them. The great, the mighty God, Jehovah of Hosts, is His name,

³ And He put out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the opening of the inner gate facing north, where there was a seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god. And he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

² God is jealous, and Jehovah revenges; Jehovah revenges and is a possessor of wrath. Jehovah takes vengeance against His foes, and He keeps wrath against His enemies.

⁹ And he said to Him, All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send prophets and wise men and scribes to you. And you will kill and crucify some of them. And some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city; ³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come on this generation.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

²³ He who hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other did, they would not have had sin. But now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father.

³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, insolent, proud, braggarts, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

⁷ because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be.

²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever desires to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

³⁷ And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their seed after them, and brought you out in His sight with His mighty power out of Egypt,

²⁹ Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always, so that it might be well with them and with their sons forever!

⁹ Therefore, know that Jehovah your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.

³⁹ And I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for their good and for the good of their sons after them. ⁴⁰ And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good. But I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.

¹⁵ If you love Me, keep My commandments.

²¹ He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.

³⁹ For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.

²⁸ Indeed as regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes. But as regards the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. ²⁹ For the free gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

¹⁹ We love Him because He first loved us.

³ For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.

⁶ And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

¹² And you shall not swear by My name falsely; nor shall you profane the name of your God. I am Jehovah.

¹¹ And the son of the woman of Israel blasphemed the name of Jehovah, and cursed. And they brought him to Moses. (And his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) ¹² And they put him under guard, so that the mind of Jehovah might be declared to them. ¹³ And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying, ¹⁴ Bring forth the despiser outside the camp. And let all that heard lay their hands on his head. Let all the congregation stone him. ¹⁵ And you shall speak to the sons of Israel saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. ¹⁶ And he that blasphemes the Name of Jehovah shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall surely stone him. And the stranger as well, even as he that is born in the land; when he blasphemes the Name, he shall be put to death.

¹¹ You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain, for Jehovah will not acquit the one who takes His name in vain.

²⁰ You shall fear Jehovah your God. You shall serve Him, and you shall hold fast to Him, and swear by His name.

¹² Now therefore, I pray you, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have dealt with you in kindness, that you will also deal with kindness to my father's house. And give me a true token,

¹⁷ And the men said to her, We will be blameless of this oath to you which you have made us swear.

²⁰ This we will do to them. We will even let them live, lest wrath be on us because of the oath which we swore to them.

And the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites. And the sons of Israel had sworn to them. And Saul sought to kill them in his zeal to the sons of Israel and Judah.

⁹ And now, do not hold him guiltless. For you are a wise man, and you know what you ought to do to him. But bring his gray head down to the grave with blood.

¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the Most High; ¹⁵ and call on Me in the day of trouble; and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. ¹⁶ But to the wicked, God says, What is it to you, to declare My Precepts, and to take up My covenant in your mouth?

⁹ lest I be full and deceive, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, and violate the name of my God.

² And you shall swear, Jehovah lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory.

³³ Again, you have heard that it has been said to the ancients, "You shall not swear falsely, but you shall perform your oaths to the Lord." ³⁴ But I say to you, Do not swear at all! Not by Heaven, because it is God's throne; ³⁵ not by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet; not by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King; ³⁶ nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your word be, Yes, yes; No, no. For whatever is more than these comes from evil.

¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides, saying, Whoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor. ¹⁷ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, Whoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is a debtor! ¹⁹ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Therefore whoever shall swear by the altar swears by it, and by all things on it. ²¹ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it. ²² And he who shall swear by Heaven swears by the throne of God, and by Him who sits on it.

⁶³ But Jesus was silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, I adjure you by the living God that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, You said it. I tell you more. From this time you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of the heavens.

²³ And I call God as witness to my soul that in order to spare you I have not yet come to Corinth.

¹⁶ For men truly swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. ¹⁷ In this way desiring to declare more fully to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, God interposed by an oath,

¹² But before all things, my brothers, do not swear; neither by the heaven nor by the earth, nor any other oath. But let your yes be yes, and your no, no, lest you fall into condemnation.

³ And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He had rested from all His work which God created to make.

²³ And he said to them, This is that which Jehovah has said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath to Jehovah. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil. And that which remains over, lay up for you to be kept until the morning. ²⁴ And they laid it up until the morning, as Moses said. And it did not stink, neither was there any worm in it. ²⁵ And Moses said, Eat that today. For today is a sabbath to Jehovah. Today you shall not find it in the field. ²⁶ Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, in it there shall be none. ²⁷ And it happened some of the people went out on the seventh day in order to gather. And they did not find any. ²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My Laws? ²⁹ See, because Jehovah has given you the sabbath, therefore He gives you the bread of two days on the sixth day. Each one stay in his place. Let not any one go out of his place on the seventh day. ³⁰ So the people rested on the seventh day.

¹² You shall do your work six days, and on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your ass may rest, and the son of your handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

¹³ Speak also to the sons of Israel, saying, Truly you shall keep My sabbaths. For it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies you. ¹⁴ You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone that defiles it shall surely be put to death. For whoever does any work in it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. ¹⁵ Six days may work be done, but on the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to Jehovah. Whoever does any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. ¹⁶ Therefore the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant.

³ You shall each man revere his mother and his father, and keep My sabbaths. I am Jehovah your God.

³⁰ You shall keep My sabbaths and revere My sanctuary. I am Jehovah.

³ Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work. It is a sabbath to Jehovah in all your dwellings.

² You shall keep My sabbaths and revere My sanctuary. I am Jehovah.

⁴ For so says Jehovah to the eunuchs who keep My Sabbath, and choose things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant; ⁵ even to them will I give within My house and within My walls a hand and a name better than of sons and of daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. ⁶ Also the sons of the stranger, who join themselves to Jehovah to serve Him, and to love the name of Jehovah, to be His servants, everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and takes hold of My covenant;

²¹ You shall work six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

² Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of rest to Jehovah. Whoever does work in it shall be put to death.

¹⁴ And answering, the synagogue ruler, being angry because Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, said to the crowd, There are six days in which it is right to work. Therefore in them come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

² And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made. And He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He had rested from all His work which God created to make.

²⁷ And it happened some of the people went out on the seventh day in order to gather. And they did not find any. ²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My Laws?

⁹ Also you shall not oppress a stranger. For you know the heart of a stranger, since you were strangers in the land of Egypt. ¹⁰ And you shall sow your land six years, and shall gather in the fruits of it. ¹¹ But the seventh year you shall let it rest and let it alone, so that the poor of your people may eat. And what they leave, the animals of the field shall eat. In the same way you shall deal with your vineyard and with your oliveyard. ¹² You shall do your work six days, and on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your ass may rest, and the son of your handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

¹³ Speak also to the sons of Israel, saying, Truly you shall keep My sabbaths. For it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies you.

³² And while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day. ³³ And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. ³⁴ And they put him under guard because it had not been clearly said what should be done to him. ³⁵ And Jehovah said to Moses, The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp. ³⁶ And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones, and he died, even as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁴ But the seventh day shall be the sabbath of Jehovah your God. In it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger inside your gates, so that your manservant and your maidservant may rest like yourself. ¹⁵ And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and with a stretched-out arm. Therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your male servant, and your slave girl, and the Levite inside your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, those among you, in the place which Jehovah your God has chosen to place His name there. ¹² And you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt. And you shall be careful to do these statutes.

¹⁴ You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, of your brothers, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates. ¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it. For he is poor and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to Jehovah, and it shall be sin to you. ¹⁶ The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, neither shall the sons be put to death for the fathers. Every man shall be put to death for his own sin. ¹⁷ You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge. ¹⁸ But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and Jehovah your God redeemed you from there. Therefore I command you to do this thing. ¹⁹ When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to bring it. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow; so that Jehovah your God may bless you in all the work of your hand. ²⁰ When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²¹ When you gather the grapes from your vineyard, you shall not glean afterward. It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²² And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt. Therefore I command you to do this thing.

³¹ And if the people of the land should bring goods or any food on the Sabbath day to sell it, that we would not buy it from them on the Sabbath or on the holy day, and that we would leave the seventh year, and the interest of every debt.

¹⁵ In those days I saw in Judah some treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading asses and also wine, grapes, and figs, and all kinds of burdens which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I testified against them in the day in which they sold food. ¹⁶ And men of Tyre lived in it, who brought fish and all kinds of goods, and sold on the Sabbath to the sons of Judah and in Jerusalem. ¹⁷ And I contended with the nobles of Judah and said to them, What evil thing is this that you do, and defile the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your fathers do this, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us and upon this city? Yet you bring more wrath upon Israel by defiling the Sabbath. ¹⁹ And it happened when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I set some of my servants at the gates, so that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day. ²⁰ And the merchants and sellers of all kinds of goods stayed the night outside Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ And I testified against them, and said to them, Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time on they did not come on the Sabbath.

⁵⁶ And they returned and they prepared spices and ointment. And they rested on the sabbath day according to the commandment.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.

²⁸ And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it. And have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the heavens, and all animals that move upon the earth.

¹⁷ It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever. For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.

⁴ In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the strength of the hills is also His. ⁵ The sea is His, and He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. ⁶ Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our maker. ⁷ For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice,

²⁷ And He said to them, The sabbath came into being for man's sake, and not man for the sabbath's sake. ²⁸ Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the sabbath.

⁷ And on the first of the sabbaths, the disciples having been assembled to break bread, being about to depart on the morrow, Paul reasoned to them. And he continued his speech until midnight.

¹⁵ And he that strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

¹⁷ And he that curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

³² You shall rise up before the gray head and honor the face of the old man, and fear your God. I am Jehovah.

²⁶ I call Heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land which you are crossing over Jordan to possess. You shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

⁴⁰ Therefore, you shall keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you this day, so that it may go well with you and with your sons after you, and so that you may make your days longer upon the earth which Jehovah your God gives you forever.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God has commanded you, so that your days may be made longer, and that it may go well with you in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

¹⁵ You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure you shall have, so that your days may be lengthened in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

⁴⁷ For it is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life. And by this Word you shall prolong your days in the land where you go over Jordan, there to possess it.

¹⁹ And Bathsheba came in to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother. And she sat on his right hand.

¹² And Elisha saw, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his clothes and tore them in two pieces.

⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother; ⁹ for they shall be an ornament of grace to your head and chains around your neck.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand, riches and honor.

⁵ A fool despises his father's instruction, but he who listens to correction is wise.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in deep darkness.

²² Listen to your father who sired you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. ²³ Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. ²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice; and he who fathers a wise child shall have joy from him. ²⁵ Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she who bore you shall rejoice.

²⁴ Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, It is no sin; he shall be a companion to a destroyer.

¹¹ There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear? says Jehovah of Hosts to you, O priests who despise My name. And you say, In what way have we despised Your name?

⁴ For God commanded, saying, "Honor your father and mother"; and, "He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him die by death." ⁵ But you say, Whoever says to his father or mother, Whatever you would gain from me, It is a gift to God; ⁶ and in no way he honors his father or his mother. And you voided the commandment of God by your tradition.

¹⁹ honor your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

¹⁰ For Moses said, "Honor your father and your mother." And, "Whoever curses father or mother, let him die the death."

¹⁹ You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and your mother.

²⁰ You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and your mother.

²¹ submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ² Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), ³ so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord.

⁸ And Cain talked with his brother Abel. And it happened when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. ⁹ And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where is your brother Abel? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper? ¹⁰ And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to Me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed more than the ground which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. ¹² When you till the ground, it will not again give its strength to you. And you shall be a vagabond and a fugitive in the earth. ¹³ And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear. ¹⁴ Behold! You have driven me out from the face of the earth today, and I shall be hidden from Your face. And I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth, and it shall be that anyone who finds me shall kill me. ¹⁵ And Jehovah said to him, Therefore whoever kills Cain shall be avenged seven times. And Jehovah set a mark upon Cain so that anyone who found him should not kill him. ¹⁶ And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah and lived in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. ¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch. ¹⁸ And Irad was born to Enoch. And Irad fathered Mehujael. And Mehujael fathered Methusael. And Methusael fathered Lamech. ¹⁹ And Lamech took two wives to himself. The name of the first one was Adah, and the name of the other was Zillah. ²⁰ And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents, and with cattle. ²¹ And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those playing the harp and the organ. ²² And Zillah also bore Tubalcain, the hammerer of every engraving tool of bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. ²³ And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, wives of Lamech, listen to my speech. For I have killed a man because of my wound, and a young man because of my hurt.

⁵ and surely the blood of your lives will I require. At the hand of every animal will I require it, and at the hand of man. At the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. ⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood shall be shed by man; for He made man in the image of God.

¹⁴ But if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbor to slay him with guile, you shall take him from My altar, so that he may die.

²⁰ And if a man strikes his servant, or his maidservant, with a rod, and he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished.

²⁹ But if the ox was apt to gore in time past, and his owner has been told, and he has not kept him in, but that he has killed a man or a woman, the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

²¹ And he who kills an animal shall restore it. And he who kills a man shall be put to death.

¹⁶ And if he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he strikes him by throwing a stone, with which he may die, and if he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁸ Or if he strikes him with a hand weapon of wood, with which he may die, and if he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁹ The revenger of blood himself shall kill the murderer. When he meets him, he shall kill him. ²⁰ And if he stabs him from hatred, or hurls at him by lying in wait, so that he dies, ²¹ or in hatred strikes him with his hand so that he dies, he who struck him shall surely he put to death. He is a murderer. The revenger of blood will kill the murderer when he meets him. ²² But if he thrusts him suddenly without hatred, or has thrown something on him without lying in wait, ²³ or with any stone with which a man may die if he does not see, and throws it upon him so that he dies, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm, ²⁴ then the congregation shall judge between the one who kills and the revenger of blood according to these judgments. ²⁵ And the congregation shall deliver the one who kills out of the hand of the revenger of blood. And the congregation shall send him back to the city of his refuge, to which he had fled. And he shall stay in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. ²⁶ But if the one who killed shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge to which he had fled, ²⁷ and if the avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and if the avenger of blood kills the slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood, ²⁸ because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the one who killed shall return to the land of his possession. ²⁹ So these things shall be for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses. But one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. ³¹ And you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death. But he shall surely be put to death. ³² And you shall take no ransom for him who has fled to the city of his refuge, to return to live in the land until the death of the high priest. ³³ So you shall not defile the land in which you are. For blood defiles the land. And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ So do not defile the land which you shall inhabit, in which I dwell. For I Jehovah dwell among the sons of Israel.

¹⁷ You shall not kill.

¹¹ But if a man hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and strikes his life from him, so that he dies, and flees to one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city shall send and bring him away from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood so that he may die. ¹³ Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away innocent blood from Israel, so that it may go well with you.

⁹ Why have you despised the Word of Jehovah, to do evil in His sight? You have stricken Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. ¹⁰ And therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.

¹⁶ And also Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing the evil in the sight of Jehovah.

²² And Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah will seek you out.

⁸ He sits in the hiding-places of the villages; in the secret places he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly, like a lion in his den. He lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches and bows, and the poor have fallen by his might. ¹¹ He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will not see forever!

¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, we will watch secretly for the innocent without cause;

¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they watch secretly for their own lives.

²¹ For behold, Jehovah comes out of His place to punish the people of the earth for their iniquity; the earth also shall reveal her blood, and shall no more cover her dead.

¹⁵ But know for certain that if you put me to death you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its people. For truly Jehovah has sent me to you to speak all these Words in your ears.

²¹ You have heard that it was said to the ancients, "You shall not kill" --and, "Whoever shall kill shall be liable to the judgment." ²² But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be liable to the judgment. And whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the sanhedrin; but whoever shall say, Fool! shall be liable to be thrown into the fire of hell.

¹⁸ He said to Him, Which? Jesus said, You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness,

⁴ And when the foreigners saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, being saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed to live.

⁹ For: "Do not commit adultery; do not murder; do not steal; do not bear false witness; do not lust;" and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁹ knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous one, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

¹¹ For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." But if you do not commit adultery, yet if you murder, you have become a transgressor of the Law.

¹³ For he who has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy, and mercy exults over judgment.

¹² not as Cain who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. And for what did he kill him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's things were righteous. ¹³ Do not marvel, my brothers, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Everyone hating his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him.

²⁰ And you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

¹⁰ And a man who commits adultery with a man's wife, who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

¹⁸ And you shall not commit adultery.

⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came in to him, and he lay with her. And she had purified herself from her uncleanness. And she returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

²⁷ And when her mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

¹⁵ whose ways are crooked, and are devious in their paths. ¹⁶ They will deliver you from the strange woman, the stranger who flatters with her words, ¹⁷ who forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. ¹⁸ For her house bows down to death, and her paths to the dead.

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. ²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; nor let her take you with her eyelids. ²⁶ For by means of a harlot a man comes to a piece of bread; and another man's wife will hunt for the precious life. ²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? ²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; whoever touches her shall not be innocent. ³⁰ They do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ³¹ but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the goods of his house. ³² Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does it destroys his own soul. ³³ He shall get a wound and dishonor; and his shame shall not be wiped away.

¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us delight ourselves with caresses. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey; ²⁰ he has taken a bag of silver with him and will come home at the day of the full moon. ²¹ With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. ²² He goes after her immediately, like an ox goes to the slaughter, or like a fool to the correction of the stocks; ²³ until a dart strikes through his liver; as a bird hastens to the snare and does not know that it is for his soul. ²⁴ And now listen to me, sons, and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray in her paths. ²⁶ For she has cast down many wounded; yea, many strong men have been slain by her. ²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, going down to the rooms of death.

⁸ They were like lusty, well-fed stallions in the morning; every one neighing after his neighbor's wife. ⁹ Shall I not judge for these things? says Jehovah. And shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

²² And a curse shall be taken up from them by all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, May Jehovah make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire, ²³ because they have committed evil in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them; for I am He who knows and a witness, says Jehovah.

⁵ And I will come near you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who extort from the hired laborer's wages, and turning away the widow, and the orphan, the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of Hosts.

²⁷ You have heard that it was said to the ancients, "You shall not commit adultery." ²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹¹ And He said to them, Whoever shall put away his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. ¹² And if a woman shall put away her husband and marries to another, she commits adultery.

² For the married woman was bound by law to the living husband. But if the husband is dead, she is set free from the law of her husband. ³ So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress by becoming another man's wife.

³ For let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness not be once named among you, as becomes saints, ⁴ neither baseness, foolish talking, jesting, which are not becoming, but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For you know this, that no fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous one (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁸ But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, will have their part in the Lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

¹⁶ And he that steals a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ² If a soul sins, and acts unfaithfully against Jehovah, and lies to his neighbor as to a deposit-- or as to security, or by robbery, or has extorted his neighbor, ³ or has found that which was lost and lies concerning it and swears falsely-- in any of all these that a man does, sinning in it, ⁴ then, it shall be, because he sinned and is guilty, he shall pay back that which he got by robbery, if he robbed; or the thing extorted which he extorted; or the deposit which had been deposited with him; or the lost thing which he had found; ⁵ or all that which he swore about falsely, --he shall even repay it in its principal, and the fifth part he shall add to it, to whomever it belongs. He shall give it on the day of his guilt offering. ⁶ And he shall bring his trespass offering to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the flock, together with an amount set by you, for a trespass offering, to the priest. ⁷ And the priest shall make an atonement for him before Jehovah, and it shall be forgiven him for anything of all that he has done by being guilty in it.

¹¹ You shall not steal, nor lie, nor be deceitful to one another.

¹³ You shall not defraud your neighbor nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not stay with you until the morning.

³⁵ You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures and weights, or in quantity. ³⁶ You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. ³⁷ And you shall observe all My statutes and all My judgments, and do them. I am Jehovah.

⁷ If a man is found stealing a person of his brothers, the sons of Israel, and makes a slave of him, or sells him, then that thief shall die. And you shall put evil away from among you.

¹³ You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a great stone and a small. ¹⁴ You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures, a great ephah and a small. ¹⁵ You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure you shall have, so that your days may be lengthened in the land which Jehovah your God gives you. ¹⁶ For all that do such things, all that do unrighteousness, are hateful to Jehovah your God.

¹⁹ For he pressed down and forsook the poor; he stole a house, but he had not built it. ²⁰ Surely he shall not know quietness in his belly; he will not escape with the things of desire. ²¹ None of his food shall be left; therefore his good will not last. ²² In the fullness of his plenty he shall be in trouble; every wretched one shall come on him.

¹³ we shall find all precious goods; we shall fill our houses with plunder; ¹⁴ cast in your lot among us, and let us have one purse. ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them! Keep back your foot from their path,

¹ False balances are hateful to Jehovah; but a just weight is His delight.

¹⁰ For they do not know to do right, says Jehovah, those who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

⁴ Hear this, you who trample the poor, even to make the humble of the land to fail, ⁵ saying, When will the new moon be gone so that we may sell grain? And the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small and the shekel great, and perverting the balances by deceit; ⁶ that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals; and sell the chaff of the wheat?

¹⁰ Are the treasures of wickedness still in the house of the wicked, and the short measure that is hateful? ¹¹ Shall I count those with the wicked scales pure, and those with the bag of deceitful weights?

³ Both hands are on evil, to do it well. The ruler asks for a bribe, and the judge also; and the great man speaks the evil desire of his soul. So they weave it together.

³ And he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth; for from now on everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it; and everyone who swears from now on shall be cut off according to it. ⁴ I will bring it forth, says Jehovah of Hosts; and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by My name. And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall devour it, and its timber and its stones.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies;

¹³ And He said to them, It is written, "My house shall be called the house of prayer"; but you have made it a den of thieves.

¹³ And he said to them, Continue to do no more than that commanded to you. ¹⁴ And the soldiers also asked of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do not forcibly extort anyone, nor accuse any falsely. And be content with your wages.

⁶ He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and held the moneybag and carried the things put in.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁸ Let him who stole steal no more, but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, so that he may have something to give to him who needs.

⁶ not to go beyond and defraud his brother in this matter (because the Lord is the avenger concerning all these, as we also have forewarned you and testified).

¹ You shall not raise a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

⁶ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his cause. ⁷ Keep far from a false matter, and do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.

¹⁶ You shall not go as a slanderer among your people; you shall not stand against the blood of your neighbor. I am Jehovah.

¹⁵ One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be made sure. ¹⁶ If a false witness rises up against any man to testify a falling away against him, ¹⁷ then both the men who are disagreeing shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges which shall be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall make careful inquiry. And behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹ then you shall do to him as he had thought to have done to his brother. So you shall put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those who remain shall hear and fear, and shall commit from then on no such evil among you. ²¹ And your eye shall not pity. Life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

⁸ But all of you have conspired against me, and none of you was revealing in my ear when my son cut a covenant with the son of Jesse? And not one of you is sorry for me, even to reveal in my ear that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as today. ⁹ And answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. ¹⁰ And he asked of Jehovah for him and gave him food and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine. ¹¹ And the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests in Nob. And they came, all of them, to the king. ¹² And Saul said, Hear now, you son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. ¹³ And Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword, and have asked of God for him, that he should rise against me to lie in wait, as at this day? ¹⁴ And Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and who goes at your bidding, and who is honorable in your house? ¹⁵ Have I today begun to ask of God for him? Be it far from me. Do not let the king charge a thing to his servant, nor to all the house of my father. For your servant knew nothing of all this, more or less. ¹⁶ And the king said, Ahimelech, you shall surely die, you and all your father's house. ¹⁷ And the king said to the guard that stood around him, Turn and kill the priests of Jehovah, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not reveal it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall on the priests of Jehovah. ¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, You turn and fall on the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned and fell on the priests. And on that day he killed eighty-five persons who wore a linen ephod. ¹⁹ And he struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and babes, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁰ And set two men, sons of Belial, before him to bear witness against him, saying, You blasphemed God and the king. And carry him out and stone him so that he may die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city did as Jezebel had sent to them, as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And there came in two men, sons of Belial, and sat before him. And the men of Belial witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth blasphemed God and the king. And they carried him out of the city and stoned him with stones so that he died.

³ he does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor;

⁵ Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, I will cut him off; him who has a high look and a proud heart, I will not allow. ⁶ My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, so that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve Me. ⁷ He who works falsely shall not dwell within my house; he who tells lies shall not stay in my sight.

¹⁸ He who hides hatred with lying lips, and he who speaks a slander, is a fool.

¹³ One going with slander is a revealer of secrets, but the faithful of spirit keeps the matter hidden.

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and a breather of lies shall not escape.

⁵⁹ And the chief priests and the elders and all the sanhedrin sought false witness against Jesus, in order to put Him to death. ⁶⁰ But they found none; yea, though many false witnesses came, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came up

¹³ And they set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law.

³¹ Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and tumult and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and anything else that is contrary to sound doctrine,

³ without natural affection, unyielding, false accusers, without self-control, savage, despisers of good,

¹¹ Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against his brother, and who judges his brother, speaks against the Law and judges the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a doer of the Law, but a judge.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make wise, she took of its fruit, and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

²³ that I will take from all that is yours, not from a thread even to a shoestring, lest you say, I have made Abram rich.

²³ Shall not their cattle and their substance and every animal of theirs be ours? Only let us agree with them, and they will live with us.

²¹ When I saw among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, I coveted them and took them. And behold, they are hidden in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver under it.

¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah? Why did you fly on the spoil and do evil in the sight of Jehovah?

² And it happened one evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing. And the woman was very beautiful to look upon. ³ And David sent and asked about the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? ⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came in to him, and he lay with her. And she had purified herself from her uncleanness. And she returned to her house.

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look upon a virgin?

⁹ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or I have laid wait at my neighbor's door,

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous whom Jehovah despises.

³⁶ Bow my heart to Your testimonies, and not to unjust gain.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. ²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; nor let her take you with her eyelids.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother; yet there is no end to all his labor; and his eyes are not satisfied with riches; and he says, For whom do I labor and take good from my soul? This is also vanity. Yes, it is an evil business.

¹⁰ He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver, and he who loves abundance not with gain. This is also vanity. ¹¹ When the good thing increases, those who eat it increase; then what profit is it to its owners, except to see it with their eyes?

¹⁵ He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands free from holding bribes, who stops his ear from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid Myself, and was angry, and he went on turning away in the way of his heart.

⁸ They were like lusty, well-fed stallions in the morning; every one neighing after his neighbor's wife.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your unjust gain, and to shed innocent blood, and for cruelty, and to do violence.

³¹ And they come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words. But they will not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their unjust gain.

⁶ So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea for four, I will not turn away from it; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals; ⁷ panting after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turning aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father will go in to the same woman, to defile My holy name.

² And they covet and seize fields; and houses, and take them away. And they oppress a man and his household, even a man and his inheritance.

⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil!

²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?

¹⁵ And He said to them, Watch and keep yourselves from covetousness. For a man's life is not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

¹⁴ And being money-lovers, all the Pharisees also heard all these things. And they derided Him.

⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own authority? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.

³³ I have coveted no man's silver or gold or apparel.

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Let it not be said! But I did not know sin except through the law. For also I did not know lust except the law said, You shall not lust.

³ For let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness not be once named among you, as becomes saints,

⁵ Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (which is idolatry),

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into the world, and it is clear that we can carry nothing out. ⁸ But having food and clothing, we will be content. ⁹ But they who will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts which plunge men into destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some having lusted after, they were seduced from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁵ Let your way of life be without the love of money, and be content with such things as you have, for He has said, "Not at all will I leave you, not at all will I forsake you, never!"

¹⁶ And it happened on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain. And the voice of the trumpet was exceedingly loud, so that all the people in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God. And they stood at the lower part of the mountain. ¹⁸ And Mount Sinai was smoking, all of it, because Jehovah came down upon it in fire. And the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

⁷ Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? ⁸ If I go up into Heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.

²³ Am I a God near, says Jehovah, and not a God afar off?

¹⁸ For you have not come to the mountain that might be touched and that burned with fire, nor to blackness and darkness and tempest, ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words (which voice they who heard begged that a word should not be spoken to them any more,

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Face of God; for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

²⁰ And He said, You cannot see My face. For there no man can see Me and live.

⁵ (I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the Word of Jehovah, for you were afraid because of the fire, and did not go up into the mountain,) saying,

²³ And it happened when you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, for the mountain burned with fire, you came near me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders, ²⁴ and you said, Behold! Jehovah our God has revealed His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire. We have seen today that God talks with man yet he still lives. ²⁵ Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more, then we shall die. ²⁶ For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? ²⁷ You go near and hear all that Jehovah our God shall say. And you speak to us all that Jehovah our God shall speak to you, and we will hear and act.

¹⁶ according to all that you desired of Jehovah your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying: Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, so that I do not die.

¹⁹ Why then the Law? It was added because of transgressions, until the Seed should come to those to whom it had been promised, being ordained through angels in the Mediator's hand.

¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words (which voice they who heard begged that a word should not be spoken to them any more,

¹¹ And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they will kill me for my wife's sake.

¹ And it happened after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Behold me.

¹² And He said, Do not lay your hand on the lad, nor do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only one, from Me.

²⁵ And he cried to Jehovah. And Jehovah showed him a tree. And when he had cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a decree and a law for them, and there He tested them. ²⁶ And he said, If you will carefully listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His Laws, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am Jehovah who heals you.

¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood before Jehovah your God in Horeb, when Jehovah said to me, Gather the people to Me, and I will make them hear My Words so that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and they may teach their sons.

² that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life, and so that your days may be prolonged.

² And you shall remember all the way which Jehovah your God led you these forty years in the wilderness in order to humble you, to prove you, to know what is in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

¹² And now, Israel, what does Jehovah your God ask of you, but to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For Jehovah your God is testing you to know whether you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁴ Now, then, fear Jehovah, and serve Him in sincerity and truth. And put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt, and serve Jehovah.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness. Yet do not turn aside from following Jehovah, but serve Jehovah with all your heart.

¹⁵ But the former governors that had been before me were too heavy upon the people, and had taken bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not do this, because of the fear of God.

²⁸ And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to depart from evil is understanding!

⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah and depart from evil.

⁶ By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged, and by the fear of Jehovah men turn away from evil.

¹³ Sanctify Jehovah of Hosts Himself, and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

¹⁰ Do not fear; for I am with you; be not dismayed; for I am your God. I will make you strong; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.

¹⁶ And it happened on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain. And the voice of the trumpet was exceedingly loud, so that all the people in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God. And they stood at the lower part of the mountain.

¹² And Solomon said, Jehovah said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

¹ And Solomon said, Jehovah has said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

⁹ And He bowed the heavens and came down, and darkness was under His feet.

¹² At the brightness before Him, His dark clouds passed through, hailstones and coals of fire passed.

² Clouds and darkness are all around Him; righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His throne.

² covering Yourself with light as with a robe; and stretching out the heavens like a curtain;

¹⁶ who alone has immortality, dwelling in light which cannot be approached, whom no one of men have seen, nor can see; to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

¹³ And You came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from Heaven, and gave them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape, those who refused him that spoke on earth, much more we shall not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from Heaven, ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I will not only shake the earth, but also the heavens."

³ You shall have no other gods before Me. ⁴ You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me,

¹ And the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, and the people gathered themselves to Aaron. And they said to him, Up! Make us gods who shall go before us. For this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. ² And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me. ³ And all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ And he took them from their hand, and fashioned it with an engraving tool. And he made it a molten calf. And they said, These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ And Moses returned to Jehovah, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.

⁴ And when they arose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah. And the head of Dagon, and both the palms of his hands, were cut off upon the threshold. Only the stump of Dagon was left to him. ⁵ And neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.

³³ They feared Jehovah and served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations whom they removed from there.

³⁹ And you, O house of Israel, so says the Lord Jehovah: Every man go and serve his idols, and do so from now on if you will not listen to Me. But never again defile My holy name with your gifts and with your idols.

⁸ In their setting of their doorstep by My threshold, and their doorpost by My doorpost; and the wall between Me and them, they have even defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have done. And I have consumed them in My anger.

⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

²³ But you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of Heaven. And they have brought the vessels of His house before you; and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver, and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know. And you have not glorified the God in whose hand is your breath and all your ways.

⁵ and those bowing to the host of heaven on the housetops, and those bowing, swearing to Jehovah, also swearing by Malcham;

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and of a table of demons. ²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

¹⁸ Let no one defraud you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, intruding into things which he has not seen, without a cause being vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, ¹⁹ and not holding the Head, from whom all the body, having been supplied through the joints and bands, and having been joined together, will grow with the growth of God.

¹⁵ But outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes a lie.

² And I will make you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you shall be a blessing.

¹ And Jehovah called to Moses and spoke to him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, ² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, If any one of you brings an offering to Jehovah, you shall bring your offering of the cattle, of the herd and of the flock. ³ If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish. He shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before Jehovah. ⁴ And he shall put his hand on the head of the burnt offering. And it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. ⁵ And he shall kill the young bull before Jehovah. And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁶ And he shall skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. ⁷ And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and lay the wood in order on the fire. ⁸ And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall arrange the parts with the head and the fat on the wood that is on the fire on the altar. ⁹ But its inward parts and its legs he shall wash in water. And the priest shall burn all on the altar, a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. ¹⁰ And if his offering is of the flocks, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall bring a male without blemish. ¹¹ And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before Jehovah. And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. ¹² And he shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat. And the priest shall arrange on the wood that is on the fire, which is on the altar. ¹³ But he shall wash the inward parts and the legs in water; and the priest shall bring near all of it and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt sacrifice, a fire offering of a sweet fragrance to Jehovah. ¹⁴ And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to Jehovah is out of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtle-doves or of young pigeons. ¹⁵ And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head and burn it on the altar. And its blood shall be drained at the side of the altar. ¹⁶ And he shall pluck away its crop with its feathers, and throw it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes. ¹⁷ And he shall cut it in two with the wings of it, not dividing it. And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah.

¹ And if his offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers from the herd, whether it is a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before Jehovah. ² And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle the blood on the altar all around. ³ And he shall bring near from the sacrifice the peace offering, a fire offering to Jehovah. The fat that covers the inward parts, all the fat that is on the inward parts, ⁴ and the two kidneys, and the fat on them, on the loins, and the lobe above the liver, with the kidneys, he shall remove. ⁵ And Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar, on the burnt sacrifice on the wood, which is on the fire. It is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. ⁶ And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering to Jehovah is of the flocks, male or female, he shall bring it without blemish. ⁷ If he is bringing near a sheep for his offering, then he shall bring it near before Jehovah. ⁸ And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron's sons shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. ⁹ And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering, a fire offering to Jehovah. He shall take away its fat, all its fat next to the backbone, and all the fat that covers the inward parts, and all the fat that is on the inward parts, ¹⁰ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe above the liver, beside the kidneys, he shall remove it. ¹¹ And the priest shall burn it on the altar, bread of the fire offering to Jehovah. ¹² And if his offering is a goat, then he shall bring it near before Jehovah. ¹³ And he shall lay his hand on its head and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation. And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood on the altar all around. ¹⁴ And he shall offer his offering of it, a fire offering to Jehovah, the fat that covers the inward parts, and all the fat on the inward parts, ¹⁵ and the two kidneys, and the fat on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe above the liver, beside the kidneys, he shall remove. ¹⁶ And the priest shall burn them on the altar, bread of the fire offering for a sweet savor. All the fat is Jehovah's. ¹⁷ It shall be a statute forever for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that you eat neither fat nor blood.

²⁴ Jehovah bless you and keep you. ²⁵ Jehovah make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. ²⁶ Jehovah lift up His face to you and give you peace. ²⁷ And they shall put My name upon the sons of Israel. And I, I will bless them.

¹³ And He will love you and bless you and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land, your grain, and your wine, and your oil, the increase of your cattle, and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you.

⁵ But you shall seek to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put His name there, even to His dwelling place you shall seek, and there you shall come.

¹¹ then there shall be a place which Jehovah your God shall choose to cause His name to dwell there. There you shall bring all that I command you, your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Jehovah.

²¹ If the place which Jehovah your God has chosen to put His name there is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock which Jehovah has given you, as I have commanded you, and you shall eat in your gates whatever your soul desires.

²³ And you shall eat before Jehovah your God in the place which He shall choose to place His name there, the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the first-born of your herds and of your flocks, so that you may learn to fear Jehovah your God always.

⁵ You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates, which Jehovah your God gives you, ⁶ but at the place which Jehovah your God shall choose to place His name in, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going of the sun, at the time that you came out of Egypt.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your male servant, and your slave girl, and the Levite inside your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, those among you, in the place which Jehovah your God has chosen to place His name there.

² you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the earth which you shall bring of your land that Jehovah your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose to place His name there.

¹² And they told King David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.

²⁹ for Your eyes to be open toward this house night and day, toward the place of which You have said, My name shall be there; to listen to the prayer which Your servant shall pray toward this place.

⁴³ hear in Heaven Your dwelling-place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to You for, so that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name, to fear You, as Your people Israel do, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by Your name.

³ And Jehovah said to him, I have heard your prayer and your cry which you have made before Me. I have made this house which you have built holy, to put My name there forever. And My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

⁶ But now I have chosen Jerusalem, so that My name might be there, and now I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.

¹⁶ For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, so that My name may be there forever. And My eyes and My heart shall be there forever.

¹³ And King Rehoboam strengthened himself at Jerusalem, and reigned. For Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put His name there. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

¹² And may the God who has caused His name to dwell there destroy all kings and people who shall put their hand to alter or to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I, Darius, have made a decree. Let it be done with speed.

⁹ but if you turn to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though you were cast out to the outermost part of the heavens, yet I will gather you from there and will bring you to the place that I have chosen to set My name there.

⁷ They have cast fire into Your sanctuary; they have defiled the dwelling-place of Your name to the ground.

² And His abode is in Salem; and His dwelling-place in Zion.

⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which He loved.

⁵ Jehovah shall bless you out of Zion; and you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

¹³ Jehovah has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling-place. ¹⁴ This is My rest forever; here I will dwell; for I have desired it.

³ May Jehovah, who made the heavens and earth, bless you out of Zion.

¹⁰ and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I also have seen, says Jehovah. ¹² But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to its going in, My name shall be great among the nations; and everywhere incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure food offering. For My name shall be great among the nations, says Jehovah of Hosts.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

²⁰ Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. ²¹ Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem. ²² You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

⁸ Therefore, I desire that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

⁵ And you shall build an altar there to Jehovah your God, an altar of stones. You shall not lift up any iron tool on them. ⁶ You shall build the altar of Jehovah your God of uncut stones, and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to Jehovah your God.

³¹ as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded the sons of Israel, as it is written in the book of the Law of Moses, an altar of whole stones over which no man has lifted any iron. And they offered on it burnt offerings to Jehovah, and sacrificed peace offerings.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, It is that which Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the congregation of the saints, and to be adored by all around Him.

¹ Guard your steps when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools. For they do not know that they are doing evil.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, ²⁹ for also, "Our God is a consuming fire."
