It shall be like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which Jehovah overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath, 24 even all nations shall say, Why has Jehovah done this to this land? For what is the heat of this great anger? 25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Egypt. 26 For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods whom they did not know, and who had not given to them any portion. 27 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book. 28 And Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger and wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is today.

For she says in her heart, I sit as a queen, and I am not a widow; and I do not see mourning at all. 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she will be consumed with fire, for the Lord God who judges her is strong. 9 And the kings of the earth who have committed fornication and lived in luxury with her will weep for her, and will wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning; 10 standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, Babylon, that strong city! For in one hour your judgment came.
