¹⁵ And before he had finished speaking, it happened, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

²⁷ Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran fathered Lot.

²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai. And the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

¹⁴ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder. And he gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

²⁰ And it happened after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold Milcah! She also has borne children to your brother Nahor: ²¹ Huz his first-born, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, ²² and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel. ²³ And Bethuel fathered Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

²⁴ And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.

⁴⁵ And before I finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. And she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, Please let me drink.

⁹ While he still spoke with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she kept them.

¹⁶ And the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.

³⁶ And Gideon said to God, If You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said, ³⁷ behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the grain-floor. And if the dew is on the fleece only, and dry upon all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said. ³⁸ And it was so. For he rose up early in the morning and gathered the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once. I pray You, let me test but this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night. For it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

² And Ruth of Moab said to Naomi, Let me now go to the field and glean ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said to her, Go, my daughter.

¹⁷ And she gleaned in the field until the evening, and beat out what she had gleaned. And it was about an ephah of barley.

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.

² To You who hears prayer, all flesh comes.

¹⁸ Jehovah is near all those who call on Him, all those who call on Him in truth. ¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

²⁷ She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.

⁹ Then you shall call, and Jehovah shall answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, Here I am. If you take the yoke away from among you, the pointing of the finger, and speaking vanity;

²⁴ And it will be, before they call I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

²⁰ And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my cry before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God; ²¹ yes, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, touched me in my severe exhaustion, about the time of the evening sacrifice. ²² And he enlightened me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I have now come out to give you skill and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of your prayers the commandment came out, and I have come to explain. For you are greatly beloved; therefore understand the matter, and attend to the vision:
