³ I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me. For now, O Ephraim, you have fornicated; Israel is defiled.

¹⁹ And his father refused and said, I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great, but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he is, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. ²⁰ And he blessed them that day, saying, In you shall Israel bless, saying, God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh. And he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

¹⁷ His glory is like the first-born of his bull, and his horns are like the horns of the wild ox. With them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth. And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

²⁶ And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now the kingdom shall return to the house of David! ²⁷ If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah. ²⁸ And the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O, Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt! ²⁹ And he set the one in Bethel, and he put the other in Dan. ³⁰ And this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even to Dan. ³¹ And he made a house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, who were not the sons of Levi. ³² And Jeroboam ordered a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah. And he offered on the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made. ³³ And he offered on the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month which he had devised out of his own heart. And he ordered a feast for the sons of Israel. And he offered on the altar, and burned incense.

¹⁴ And Jehovah shall raise up a king over Israel for Himself, a king who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day. And what? Even now! ¹⁵ For Jehovah shall strike Israel as the reed waves in the water, and He shall root up Israel out of this good land which He gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherahs, provoking Jehovah to anger. ¹⁶ And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned, and that he made Israel to sin.

⁵ because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have plotted against you, saying,

⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken so that it shall not be a people. ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.

¹⁷ Jehovah shall bring on you, and on your people, and on your father's house, days that have not come, since the days that Ephraim departed from Judah, the king of Assyria.

⁵ And Oholah whored under Me. And she lusted after her lovers, to her Assyrian neighbors, ⁶ clothed with purple, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding horses. ⁷ So she bestowed her harlotries on them, the choice sons of Assyria; with all of them, and with all whom she lusted after; she defiled herself with all their idols. ⁸ Nor did she leave her fornications from Egypt. For in her youth they lay with her, and they worked her virgin nipples, and poured their fornications on her. ⁹ Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians on whom she lusted. ¹⁰ They uncovered her nakedness. They took her sons and her daughters and killed her with the sword. And she became notorious among women, and they executed judgment on her. ¹¹ And her sister Oholibah saw, she was more corrupt in her lustfulness than she, and her fornications were greater than her sister's whoredom. ¹² She lusted to the sons of Assyria, governors and rulers nearby, clothed most perfectly; horsemen riding horses, all of them desirable young men. ¹³ And I saw that she was defiled, one way was to both of them. ¹⁴ And she added to her fornications. And she saw men carved on the wall; images of the Chaldeans engraved with vermilion, ¹⁵ girded with girdles on their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like rulers, like the sons of Babylon in Chaldea, the land of their birth; ¹⁶ and she lusted after them, to the sight of her eyes, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea. ¹⁷ And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with fornications. And she was defiled with them, and her mind was alienated from them. ¹⁸ So she uncovered her fornications and uncovered her nakedness. And My soul was alienated from her just as My soul was alienated from her sister. ¹⁹ Yet she multiplied her fornications to recall the days of her youth, in which she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. ²⁰ And she lusted on her lovers, whose flesh is like the flesh of asses and whose issue is like the issue of horses. ²¹ So you longed for the wickedness of your youth, when the Egyptians worked your nipples, for the sake of the breasts of your youth.

¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols; let him alone. ¹⁸ Their drink is sour; they are continually fornicating; her rulers dearly love shame.

⁹ Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel I have made known that which is confirmed.

¹¹ Ephraim is crushed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

¹³ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to the Assyrian and sent to King Jareb. Yet he could not heal you nor cure you of your wound.

⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is like a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away.

¹¹ Because Ephraim has made many altars to sin, altars shall be to him to sin.

¹ Ephraim feeds on wind and follows after the east wind. He daily multiplies lies and cruelty. And they make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

¹ When Ephraim spoke trembling, he was lifted up in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.

² You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

¹² For I know your many transgressions and your many sins. They afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

¹⁵ I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold or hot.
