²¹ And they shall pass through it, hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall be, they shall be hungry; They shall rave and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

²⁸ You shall not revile God, nor curse the ruler of your people.

³³ The fruit of your land, and all your labors, shall be eaten up by a nation which you do not know. And you shall always be oppressed and crushed, ³⁴ and you shall be mad because of that which you shall see with the sight of your eyes.

⁵³ And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which Jehovah your God has given you, in the siege and in the anguish with which your enemies shall distress you. ⁵⁴ The man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the rest of his sons which he has left; ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his sons whom he shall eat, because he has nothing left to him in the siege and in the anguish with which your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not have ventured to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one who comes out from between her feet, and toward her sons whom she shall bear. For she shall eat them secretly for lack of all things, in the siege and anguish with which your enemies shall distress you in your gates.

³³ While he still talked with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. And he said, Behold, this evil is from Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?

³ on the ninth of the fourth month, when famine was severe in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

¹¹ But put forth Your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face.

⁵ But indeed put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face.

⁹ And his wife said to him, Do you still hold to your integrity? Curse God and die!

³ The foolishness of man perverts his way, and his heart frets against Jehovah.

⁷ And therefore, behold, the Lord brings on them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory. And he shall come up over all his channels and go over all his banks. ⁸ And he shall pass through Judah. He shall overflow and go over; he shall reach to the neck. And the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

²⁰ And he shall cut off on the right hand and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left, and they shall not be satisfied. Each man shall eat the flesh of his own arm;

¹⁸ If I go out into the field, then I see those killed with the sword! And if I enter into the city, then, behold, sicknesses of famine! Yes, both the prophet and the priest have gone up into a land that they do not know.

⁶ And in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, the famine was very grievous in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

⁴ The suckling's tongue cleaves to his palate in thirst; the young children ask bread; there is no breaking to them. ⁵ Those who ate delicacies are desolate in the streets; those reared in scarlet embrace dunghills.

⁹ Better are the ones slain by the sword than the ones slain by hunger; those who pine away, pierced because the fruits of my fields failed. ¹⁰ The hands of the pitying women have boiled their own children; they became their food in the ruin of the daughter of my people.

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and golden, and silver, and bronze, and stone, and wooden idols (which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk). ²¹ And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

⁹ And men were burned with great heat. And they blasphemed the name of God, He having authority over these plagues. And they did not repent in order to give Him glory. ¹⁰ And the fifth angel poured out his vial on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom became darkened. And they gnawed their tongues from the pain. ¹¹ And they blasphemed the God of Heaven because of their pains and their sores. And they did not repent of their deeds.
