²⁰ Go up to Lebanon, and cry. And lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed.

¹² And Jehovah said to Moses, Get up into this Mount Abarim and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel.

⁴⁹ Go up into Mount Abarim, to Mount Nebo in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession.

⁷ And the king of Egypt did not come again out of his land any more. For the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt to the river Euphrates all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

⁵ And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory. ⁶ And he who lives in this coast shall say in that day, Behold, this has become of our hope to which we fled for help there, to be delivered from before the king of Assyria; and, How shall we escape?

¹ Woe to the rebellious sons, says Jehovah, who make advice, but not of Me; and who cover with a covering, but not of My Spirit, that they add sin to sin; ² those who set out to go down to Egypt and have not asked at My mouth; to take refuge in the strength of Pharaoh and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! ³ Therefore the strength of Pharaoh shall be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt shall be your curse. ⁴ For his rulers were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes. ⁵ They were all ashamed of a people who could not profit them, nor be a help nor gain, but a shame and also a reproach. ⁶ The burden concerning the beasts of the south. Into the land of trouble and woe. The lioness and the lion are from them; the viper, and the fiery flying serpent. They carry their riches on the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people that cannot profit. ⁷ For Egypt helps vainly, and worthlessly. So I have cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

¹ Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and lean on horses and trust in chariots, because it is great; and in horsemen, because they are so very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor do they seek Jehovah! ² Yet He also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back His Words, but will arise against the house of evil-doers and against the help of those who work iniquity. ³ And Egypt is a man, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not Spirit. When Jehovah shall stretch out His hand, both he who helps shall fall, and he who is helped shall fall down, and they shall all cease together.

³⁶ Why do you go about so much to change your way? You also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

³⁰ And you, O desolate one, what will you do? Though you dress with crimson, though you put on ornaments of gold, though you make your eyes large with paint, you shall make yourself beautiful in vain; your lovers will despise you; they will seek your life.

²² The wind shall eat up all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; surely then you will be ashamed and humiliated for all your wickedness.

⁹ behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says Jehovah, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant; and will bring them against this land, and against its people, and against all these nations all around. And I will completely destroy them, and make them a waste, and a hissing, and everlasting ruins.

¹⁷ Then I took the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom Jehovah had sent me. ¹⁸ Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings of them, and their rulers, to make them a ruin, a horror, a hissing, and a curse, as it is today, ¹⁹ Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and his servants, and his rulers, and all his people, ²⁰ and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the rest of Ashdod; ²¹ Edom, and Moab, and the sons of Ammon, ²² and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands beyond the sea, ²³ Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and those who trim the edges of their beards. ²⁴ and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the desert, ²⁵ and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes, ²⁶ and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the face of the earth; and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. ²⁷ So you shall say to them, So says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Drink and be drunk, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

¹³ There is none to plead your cause; for your ulcer there are no healing medicines for you. ¹⁴ All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity; because your sins are many. ¹⁵ Why do you cry over your crushing? Your pain is incurable, for the greatness of your iniquity; because your sins are many, I have done these things to you.

² She bitterly weeps in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers, she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt deceitfully with her; they became her enemies.

¹⁹ I called for my lovers, but they deceived me; my priests and my elders expired in the city while they sought food for them to bring back their life.

⁹ Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians on whom she lusted.

²² So, O Oholibah, the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, I will raise up against you your lovers, from whom your soul is alienated; and I will bring them against you from all around;
