¹ And Job answered and said, ² How long will you torment my soul and break me in pieces with words? ³ And this, ten times you have blamed me; you are not ashamed that you have wronged me. ⁴ And if indeed I have erred, my error remains with me. ⁵ If indeed you magnify yourself against me, and plead against me my misery, ⁶ know now that God has overthrown me, and His net has closed on me. ⁷ Behold, I cry out, Violence! And I am not answered. I cry aloud, but there is no justice. ⁸ He has fenced up my way so that I cannot pass, and He has set darkness in my paths. ⁹ He has stripped me of my glory, and has taken the crown from my head. ¹⁰ He has broken me on every side, and I am gone, and He has uprooted my hope like a tree. ¹¹ He has also kindled His wrath against me, and to Himself He counts me as His enemy. ¹² His troops come together and raise up their way against me, and camp around my tent. ¹³ He has put my brothers far from me, and my friends have truly turned away from me. ¹⁴ My people have fallen away, and my familiar friends have forgotten me. ¹⁵ Those who dwell in my house, and my slave-girls, count me as a stranger; I am a foreigner in their sight. ¹⁶ I called my servant, and he gave no answer; I must beg him with my mouth. ¹⁷ My breath is hated by my wife, and I must beg to the sons of my mother's womb. ¹⁸ Even young children despise me; I arise, and they speak against me. ¹⁹ All the men of my counsel detest me, even this one I loved has turned against me. ²⁰ My bone clings to my skin and to my flesh, and I have escaped with the skin of my teeth. ²¹ Have pity on me! Have pity on me, my friends! For the hand of God has touched me. ²² Why do you, like God, persecute me and are not satisfied with my flesh? ²³ Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were engraved in a book! ²⁴ Oh that they were cut with an iron pen and lead in the rock forever! ²⁵ For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall rise on the earth at the last; ²⁶ and even after they corrupt my skin, yet this: in my flesh I shall see God, ²⁷ whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not a stranger's; though my heart be exhausted in my bosom. ²⁸ For you ought to say, Why do we persecute him, since the root of the matter is found in me? ²⁹ Fear for yourselves because of the sword; for wrath brings the punishments of the sword, so that you may know there is a judgment.

¹⁶ And it happened because she distressed him with her words daily, and urged him; and his soul was grieved to death.

² How long will you speak these things, since the words of your mouth are like a strong wind?

² Until when will you set a snare for words? Understand, and afterwards we will speak.

² As God lives, He has taken away my judgment; and the Almighty has made my soul bitter.

² Have mercy on me, O Jehovah, for I am weak; O Jehovah, heal me, for my bones are troubled. ³ My soul also is exceedingly troubled; but You, O Jehovah, how long?

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long will You forget me, O Jehovah? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

¹⁰ As with a sword in my bones, my enemies shame me; while they say daily to me, Where is your God?

²¹ The butterings of his mouth were forked, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

⁷ Behold, they bellow out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, Who hears?

³ who sharpen their tongue like a sword, they tread their arrows, even a bitter word,

¹⁸ There are those who speak like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit of it.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell. ⁷ For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind. ⁸ But no one can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

⁷ And He delivered righteous Lot, oppressed with the lustful behavior of the lawless. ⁸ For that righteous one living among them, in seeing and hearing, his righteous soul was tormented from day to day with their unlawful deeds.

¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, Until when, Master, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?

⁷ and your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times. But God did not allow him to hurt me.

⁷ And Joseph saw his brothers, and he knew them, but remained a stranger to them, and spoke roughly to them. And he said to them, Where do you come from? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

²⁶ When I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight. And you shall eat and not be satisfied.

²² Because all those men who have seen My glory and My miracles which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted Me now these ten times, and have not listened to My voice,

¹² And it happened when the Jews who lived near them came in, they said to us ten times, From all places where you shall turn to us, they will be against us.

⁶ Is not your reverence your hope? Is not your hope the uprightness of your ways? ⁷ Remember, please, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off? ⁸ As I have seen, the ones who plow iniquity and sow wickedness reap the same. ⁹ By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of His nostrils they are destroyed. ¹⁰ The roar of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. ¹¹ The strong lion perishes for lack of prey, and the strong lion's cubs are scattered abroad.

³ I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place. ⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, nor is there any to deliver them.

⁴ If your sons have sinned against Him, and if He has cast them away for their transgression, ⁵ if you would seek earnestly to God and make your prayer to the Almighty; ⁶ if you were pure and upright, surely now He would awake for you, and make the dwelling-place of your righteousness blessed.

³ Should your lies make men silent? And will you mock and no one make you ashamed?

¹⁴ if iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;

⁴ Yea, you do away with fear, and take away prayer before God. ⁵ For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the tongue of the crafty. ⁶ Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; yes, your own lips testify against you.

¹¹ Are the comforts of God small with you, and a word dealing gently with you? ¹² Why does your heart carry you away? And what do your eyes wink at,

⁴ He tears himself in his anger; shall the earth be forsaken for you? And shall the rock be moved out of its place? ⁵ Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. ⁶ The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp shall be put out with him. ⁷ The steps of his strength shall be hampered, and his own plans shall throw him down. ⁸ For he is thrown into a net by his own feet, and he walks on a net. ⁹ The trap shall take him by the heel, and the noose shall hold sway over him. ¹⁰ The pitfall is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way. ¹¹ Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall dash him at his feet. ¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and trouble shall be ready at his side. ¹³ It shall devour the parts of his skin; the first-born of death consumes his parts. ¹⁴ His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors. ¹⁵ What is not his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be scattered on his home. ¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath, and his branch shall wither above. ¹⁷ His memory shall perish from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street. ¹⁸ They drive him from light to darkness, and they make him flee from the world. ¹⁹ He shall have neither son nor kinsman among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. ²⁰ Those after him shall be amazed at his day; and those before were seized with horror. ²¹ Surely these are the dwellings of the perverse, and this the place that has not known God.

¹⁷ My breath is hated by my wife, and I must beg to the sons of my mother's womb.

⁸ I have become a stranger to My brothers, and a foreigner to My mother's children.

²⁰ And in any matters of wisdom and understanding that the king asked them, he found them ten times better than all the horoscopists and conjurers who were in all his kingdom.

¹⁷ And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? I pray You, let Your hand be against me and against my father's house.

³ Should your lies make men silent? And will you mock and no one make you ashamed? ⁴ For you have said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Your eyes. ⁵ But who will grant that God would speak, and open His lips against you, ⁶ and would tell you the secrets of His wisdom, that sound wisdom is manifold? Know therefore that God forgets for you some of your iniquity.

¹² If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself; but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.

⁴ Behold, all souls are Mine. As the soul of the father, also the soul of the son, they are Mine. The soul that sins, it shall die.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive the things done through the body, according to that which he has done, whether good or bad.

⁵ For each one will bear his own load.

⁶ And her foe also provoked her grievously, in order to make her tremble, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.

³ And they said to me, The remnant left of the captivity there in the province is in great affliction and shame. And the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.

²⁶ Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor together, those who magnify themselves over me.

¹⁶ For I said, Hear me, lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me.

¹¹ By this I know that You delight in me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹² For it is not an enemy who reviled me; then I could have borne it; it is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me; or I would hide myself from him;

¹ And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, we will eat our own bread and wear our own clothing; only let us be called by your name, to take away our shame.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, my enemy; for if I fall, I shall arise; for if I sit in darkness, Jehovah shall be a light to me.

¹⁰ They shall have this for their pride, because they have cursed and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of Hosts.

⁷ Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the people of Jerusalem may not be magnified above Judah.

²⁵ So the Lord has dealt with me in the days in which He looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

² And answering, Jesus said to them, Do you suppose that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans because they suffered such things? ³ I tell you, No. But unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. ⁴ Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were sinners above all men who lived in Jerusalem?

² And His disciples asked Him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

³⁴ They answered and said to him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.

²⁰ I have sinned. What shall I do to You, O Watcher of men? Why have You set me as a target for You, so that I am a burden to myself?

¹¹ God has delivered me to the perverse; and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. ¹² I was at ease, but He has broken me in pieces; yea, He has also taken me by my neck and shaken me to pieces and set me up for His mark. ¹³ His archers hem me in; He splits my inward parts, and does not spare; He pours out my gall on the ground. ¹⁴ He breaks me with break on break; He runs on me like a giant.

⁹ Now You have cast us off, and have shamed us, and You do not go forth with our armies. ¹⁰ You make us turn back from the adversary; and our haters plunder for themselves. ¹¹ You have given us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations. ¹² You have sold Your people for nothing, and You did not increase by their price. ¹³ You make us a curse to our neighbors, a scorn and a mockery to those who are round about us. ¹⁴ You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.

¹⁰ For You have proved us, O God; You have tested us, as silver is refined. ¹¹ You have brought us into the net; You have laid affliction on our loins. ¹² You have allowed men to ride at our head; we have gone through fire and through water, but You have brought us out to plenty.

¹² Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Behold and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow which is done to me, with which Jehovah has afflicted me in the day of His fierce anger. ¹³ From above He has sent fire into my bones and it has laid them low. He has spread a net for my feet; He has turned me back; He has made me amazed and faint all the day.

¹³ I will also spread My net on him, and He shall be taken in My snare. And I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans. Yet he shall not see it, though he shall die there.

³ So says the Lord Jehovah: I will therefore spread out My net over you with an assembly of many peoples; and they shall lift you up in My net.

¹² When they go, I will spread My net on them; I will bring them down like the birds of the heavens; I will chastise them, as a report to their congregation.

²⁴ The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges; if it is not He, then who is it?

³² For He is not a man, as I am, that I should answer Him, that we should come together in judgment;

³ Is it good to You that You should press down, that You should despise the work of Your hands, and shine on the counsel of the wicked?

¹⁵ If I am wicked, woe to me; and if I am righteous, I will not lift up my head, being filled with shame, and looking on my affliction. ¹⁶ For it increases! You hunt me as a fierce lion; and again You show Yourself marvelous on me. ¹⁷ You renew Your witnesses against me, and increase Your anger on me; changes and warfare are against me.

¹⁵ Though he slay me, I will not wait, but I will maintain my own ways before Him. ¹⁶ He also is my salvation, for an ungodly one shall not come before Him. ¹⁷ Listen carefully to my words, and let what I say be in your ears. ¹⁸ Behold now, I have set my cause in order; I know that I shall be justified. ¹⁹ Who is he that will plead for me, for now, I would be quiet and expire. ²⁰ Only do not do two things to me; then I will not hide myself from You. ²¹ Withdraw Your hand far from me, and let not Your fear make me afraid. ²² Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and answer You me. ²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? Make known my transgressions and my sin.

¹⁷ though no violence is in my hand, and my prayer is pure. ¹⁸ Oh earth, do not cover my blood, and let not my cry have a place. ¹⁹ Also now, behold, my Witness is in Heaven, and He who testifies of me is on high.

²¹ Oh that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleads for his neighbor!

²⁷ Behold, I know your thoughts, and the plots which you wrongfully hatch against me.

³ Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat! ⁴ I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say to me. ⁶ Will He plead against me with His great power? No, surely He would give heed to me. ⁷ There the righteous might reason with Him; and I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

²⁰ I cried to You, and You did not hear me; I stood up, and You did not consider me.

³⁵ Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my mark. Let the Almighty answer me, and my Accuser write an indictment. ³⁶ Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, and bind it like crowns to me.

⁵ For Job has said, I am righteous; and God has taken away my right;

⁸ Will you also set aside My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the night, and am not silent.

⁸ For whenever I speak, I cry out, I cry violence and ruin; for the Word of Jehovah has been a reproach and a cause of mocking to me all day.

⁸ Also when I cry and shout, He shuts out my prayer.

² O Jehovah, until when shall I cry and You will not hear? I cry out to You of violence, and You do not save! ³ Why do You show me evil, and You look on toil? For destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention rises up.

⁷ And they cried to Jehovah, He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them and covered them. And your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness a long time.

²³ To a man whose way is hidden, God has made a hedge about him.

²⁶ When I looked for good, then evil came; and when I waited for light, then darkness came.

⁸ You have taken my friends away from me; You have made me a hateful thing to them. I am shut up, and I cannot go out.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness; they know not at what they stumble.

¹⁰ Who among you fears Jehovah, who obeys the voice of His servant, who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of Jehovah and rest on his God.

¹⁶ Give glory to Jehovah your God, before He causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, He turns it into the shadow of death, setting up deep gloom.

¹² So their way shall be to them as slippery ways in the darkness; they shall be driven on, and fall in them; for I will bring evil on them, even the year of their judgment, says Jehovah.

⁷ He has set a fence around me and I cannot go out; He has made my bronze chain heavy.

⁹ He walled up my ways with cut stone; my paths are crooked.

⁶ Therefore behold, I will hedge your way with thorns, and wall up her wall, that she shall not find her paths.

¹² Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹⁷ He leads wise men away stripped, and makes the judges fools.

⁷ when I went out to the gate by the city; when I prepared my seat in the street! ⁸ The young men saw me and hid themselves; and the aged arose and stood up. ⁹ The rulers held back from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The noble's voice was subdued, and their tongue clung to the roof of their mouth. ¹¹ For the ear heard and blessed me. And the eye saw me and witnessed to me. ¹² For I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of the perishing came on me; and I caused the widow's heart to sing. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my judgment was like a robe and a diadem.

²⁰ My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand. ²¹ They listened to me, and waited, and kept silent at my counsel.

¹ But now those younger laugh at me, whose fathers I would have refused to set with the dogs of my flock.

¹⁶ Be not afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases; ¹⁷ for when he dies he shall take nothing away; his glory shall not go down after him.

³⁹ You have turned away from the covenant of Your servant; You have defiled his crown to the ground.

⁴⁴ You have made his glory to cease, and have thrown his throne down to the ground.

⁶ But you will be named the priests of Jehovah; it will be said of you, Ministers of our God; you will eat the riches of the nations, and you will revel in their glory.

¹⁶ The crown has fallen from our head. Woe now to us! For we have sinned.

¹¹ Ephraim is like a bird; their glory shall fly away from birth, and from the womb, and from conception.

¹³ And a day came when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house. ¹⁴ And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them. ¹⁵ And the Sabeans fell on and took them away. Yea, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. And I only have escaped alone to tell you. ¹⁶ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, The fire of God has fallen from the heavens and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and destroyed them. And I only have escaped alone to tell you. ¹⁷ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands and swooped down upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. And I only have escaped alone to tell you. ¹⁸ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house. ¹⁹ And, behold, a great wind came from the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead. And I only have escaped alone to tell you.

⁷ And Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah and struck Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

¹¹ What is my strength, that I should hope? And what is my end, that I should be patient?

⁶ My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are ended without hope.

¹³ So are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the ungodly shall perish. ¹⁴ His hope shall be cut off, and his trust shall be in a spider's web. ¹⁵ He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not endure. ¹⁶ He is moist before the sun, and his branches shoot forth in his garden. ¹⁷ His roots are wrapped around the heap, and he sees the place of stones. ¹⁸ If he is destroyed from his place, then it shall deny him: I have not seen you.

¹⁴ Behold, He breaks down, and it can not be built up again; He shuts up a man, and no one opens.

¹¹ My days are past, my purposes are broken off, the desires of my heart.

¹⁵ And where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it?

²⁰ The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be remembered no more; and injustice shall be broken like a tree.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked ruthless, and spreading himself like a luxuriant native tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

¹³ But to You I have cried, O Jehovah; and in the morning my prayer shall go before You. ¹⁴ O Jehovah, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? ¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up; while I suffer Your terrors, I pine away. ¹⁶ Your fierce wrath goes over me; Your terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷ They surrounded me like waters all the day long; they have come together around me. ¹⁸ You have taken lover and friend far from me, and those who know me into darkness.

¹¹ My days are like a shadow stretched out; and I wither like grass.

⁵ Jehovah was like an enemy; He swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her palaces, and destroyed His strongholds. And He has increased mourning and weeping in the daughter of Judah. ⁶ And He violated His booth like a garden, and destroyed His meeting places. Jehovah caused the meeting places and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and He despised the king and the priest in the fury of His anger.

⁸ in every way having been troubled, but not having been hemmed in; having been perplexed, but not utterly at a loss; ⁹ having been persecuted, but not having been forsaken; having been thrown down, but not having been destroyed;

²² For a fire is kindled in My anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with its increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

²⁴ Why do You hide Your face, and hold me for Your enemy?

⁹ His anger has torn and hated me; He gnashes on me with His teeth; my enemy sharpens his eyes at me;

¹⁰ behold, He finds reasons to be against me, He counts me for His enemy;

⁴⁶ How long, Jehovah? Will You hide Yourself forever? Shall Your wrath burn like fire?

⁷ For we are burned up by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are troubled.

⁵ Jehovah was like an enemy; He swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her palaces, and destroyed His strongholds. And He has increased mourning and weeping in the daughter of Judah.

¹² On my right a brood rises; they push away my feet and raise up against me the ways of their ruin.

⁵ Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger! And the staff in their hand is My fury. ⁶ I will send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath. I will command him to take the plunder, and to strip off the spoil, and to trample them like the mud of the streets.

²³ But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, Bow down so that we may cross; and put your back as the ground, even as the street to those who cross.

²¹ Surely now you are like them; you see my casting down, and are afraid. ²² Did I say, Give to me? or, Offer a bribe for me from your wealth; ²³ or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand; or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

⁷ But now He has made me weary; You have made all my company desolate.

¹¹ I was a reproach among all my foes, but especially among my neighbors, and a fear to my friends; those who saw me outside fled from me.

¹¹ My lovers and my friends stand apart from my plague; and my neighbors stand far off.

²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness; and I looked for some to mourn with me, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

¹⁸ You have taken lover and friend far from me, and those who know me into darkness.

⁵⁶ But all this happened that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples fled, forsaking Him.

¹⁶ At my first answer no one was beside me, but all deserted me. May it not be laid to their charge.

²³ And the advice of Ahithophel, which he advised in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel, both with David and with Absalom.

¹² For it is not an enemy who reviled me; then I could have borne it; it is not one who hates me who magnified himself against me; or I would hide myself from him; ¹³ but it is you, a man my rank, my guide and my friend. ¹⁴ We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in company.

²⁴ A man who has friends may be broken up, but there is a Lover who sticks closer than a brother.

¹⁰ For I heard the slanders of many, Terror is all around! Expose! Yea, let us expose him! Every man of my peace is watching for my fall, saying, Perhaps he will be lured away, and we shall prevail over him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

⁵ Put no trust in a friend; put no hope in a guide; keep the door of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father; the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own household.

²¹ And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. And the children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

¹⁸ I do not speak of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me."

³¹ if the men of my camp did not say, Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat? ³² The stranger did not sleep in the street, for I opened my doors to the traveler.

³ Have mercy on us, O Jehovah, have mercy on us; for we are exceedingly filled with scorn.

¹⁵ And the Sabeans fell on and took them away. Yea, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. And I only have escaped alone to tell you. ¹⁶ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, The fire of God has fallen from the heavens and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and destroyed them. And I only have escaped alone to tell you. ¹⁷ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands and swooped down upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. And I only have escaped alone to tell you.

¹⁹ And, behold, a great wind came from the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead. And I only have escaped alone to tell you.

⁹ And his wife said to him, Do you still hold to your integrity? Curse God and die! ¹⁰ But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish ones speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

¹ My spirit is broken, my days are ended, the graves are ready for me.

²³ And he went up from there to Bethel. And he was going up in the highway. And little boys came out from the city and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald head! Go up, bald head!

⁵ And the people shall be crushed, every man by another, and every man by his neighbor; the boy shall act proudly against the old man, and the low against the honorable.

¹⁴ To him who is afflicted, pity is due from his friend, but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty. ¹⁵ My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a torrent; they pass away as the streams of torrents,

⁹ Even a man, my friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

²⁰ He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he has broken his covenant.

⁴ For my love they are my foes; but I am in prayer. ⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?

⁴ And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But indeed put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face. ⁶ And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, he is in your hand, but save his life.

⁵ My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken and has run afresh.

³⁰ My skin is black on me, and my bones are burned with heat.

¹⁹ He is also chastened with pain on his bed, and enduring strife in his bones; ²⁰ so that his life is sick of bread, and his soul desirable food. ²¹ His flesh wastes away, not seen; and his bones laid bare; they were not seen. ²² Yea, his soul draws near to the Pit, and his life to the dealers of death.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all My bones are spread apart; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; ¹⁶ and You have brought Me into the dust of death. For dogs have circled around Me; the band of spoilers have hemmed Me in, piercers of My hands and My feet. ¹⁷ I can count all My bones; they look and stare at Me.

³ When I kept silence, my bones became old through my roaring all the day long. ⁴ For by day and by night Your hand was heavy on me; my sap is turned into the droughts of summer. Selah.

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your anger; nor rest in my bones because of my sin.

³ For my days go up like smoke, and my bones glow like a firebrand.

⁵ Because of the voice of my groaning, my bones hold fast to my skin.

⁴ He has wasted my flesh and my skin; He has broken my bones.

⁸ Their appearance is blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets; their skin has shriveled on their bones; it is dried up; it has become like wood.

¹⁰ Our skin is hot like an oven because of the fever heat of famine.

¹¹ But put forth Your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face.

⁵ But indeed put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face.

¹⁰ But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish ones speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, their fury is drinking my spirit; the terrors of God are set against me.

¹⁴ To him who is afflicted, pity is due from his friend, but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

² For Your arrows stick fast in me, and Your hand presses heavily on me.

¹⁵ Rejoice with rejoicing ones, and weep with weeping ones;

²⁶ And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is glorified, all the members rejoice with it.

³ Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them, those who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

¹⁶ For it increases! You hunt me as a fierce lion; and again You show Yourself marvelous on me.

²⁵ Will You terrify a leaf driven to and fro? Will You pursue the dry stubble?

³¹ if the men of my camp did not say, Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat?

²⁶ For they persecute him whom You have stricken, and they talk to the grief of those You pierced.

³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and strip their skin off them. And they break their bones and chop them in pieces, like that in the pot, like those in the middle of the kettle.

³⁵ Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my mark. Let the Almighty answer me, and my Accuser write an indictment.

¹ And Jehovah said to me, Take a great scroll and write in it with a man's pen: Make Haste to Plunder! Hasten to the Prey!

⁸ Now go, write it before them in a tablet, and note it in a book, so that it may be for the time to come forever and ever,

¹¹ With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall make them to be set in settings of gold. ¹² And you shall put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial to the sons of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before Jehovah upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

²¹ And the stones shall be with the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet. They shall be each one with his name according to the twelve tribes.

¹⁶ And the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God. It was engraved on the tablets.

² And it will be, on the day when you shall pass over Jordan to the land which Jehovah your God gives you, you shall set up great stones and plaster them with plaster. ³ And you shall write on them all the words of the Law when you have passed over, so that you may go in to the land which Jehovah your God gives you, a land that flows with milk and honey, as Jehovah, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

⁸ And you shall write all the words of this Law very plainly on the stones.

¹ The sin of Judah is engraved with an iron stylus; it is carved on the tablet of the heart and on the horns of Your altar with the point of a diamond;

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

¹⁸ And in your Seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.

¹⁹ Also now, behold, my Witness is in Heaven, and He who testifies of me is on high.

²³ If there is a messenger for him, a mediator, one among a thousand, to declare for man his uprightness, ²⁴ then He is gracious to him and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit; for I have found a ransom.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Jehovah, my Rock and my Redeemer.

³⁵ And they remembered that God was their rock, and the Most High God was their redeemer.

¹¹ for their Redeemer is mighty; He shall plead their cause with you.

¹⁴ So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all of them as fugitives, and the Chaldeans, whose shout is in the ships.

⁵ For your Maker is your husband; Jehovah of Hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called.

²⁰ And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob, says Jehovah. ²¹ As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says Jehovah; My Spirit that is on you, and My Words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of your seed's seed, says Jehovah, from now on and forever.

³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong; Jehovah of Hosts, is His name. He shall thoroughly plead their cause, so that he may give rest to the land, and give trouble to the people of Babylon.

²² For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son, ²³ so that all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. ²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears My Word and believes on Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death to life. ²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they who hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has given to the Son to have life within Himself, ²⁷ and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. ²⁸ Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have practiced evil to the resurrection of condemnation.

⁷ In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,

¹⁴ And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied to these, saying, Behold, the Lord came with myriads of His saints,

⁹ Therefore My heart is glad, and My glory rejoices; My flesh also shall rest in hope;

¹¹ You will make Me know the way of life; in Your presence is fullness of joys. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

¹⁵ As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your image.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

¹² For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known.

⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

²¹ who shall change our body of humiliation so that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working of His power, even to subdue all things to Himself.

² Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

⁷ Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, and those who pierced Him will see Him, and all the kindreds of the earth will wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

¹⁷ I shall see him, but not now. I shall behold him, but not near. There shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall strike the corners of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult.

²⁶ My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart, and my part forever.

¹⁹ Your dead ones shall live, together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is as the dew of lights, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

¹³ And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him. For he only of Jeroboam shall come down to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

²² Why do you, like God, persecute me and are not satisfied with my flesh?

⁷ Would you speak unrighteously for God, and talk deceitfully for Him? ⁸ Will you lift up His person, or contend for God? ⁹ Is it good that He should search you out? Or as one man mocks another, do you mock Him? ¹⁰ He will surely blame you, if you secretly lift up persons. ¹¹ Shall not His highness make you afraid, and His dread fall on you?

²² He does not believe in a return from darkness, but he is awaited by the sword.

⁴ Will He reprove you because of your reverence, or enter into judgment with you?

⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

⁷ But Jehovah shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ And man shall say, Truly, there is a reward for the righteous; truly, there is a God judging in the earth.

⁹ Rejoice, in your youth, young man; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

¹⁴ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good, or whether evil.

¹ Judge not, that you may not be judged. ² For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God. ² So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves. ³ For the rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the bad. And do you desire to be not afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you shall have praise from it. ⁴ For it is a servant of God to you for good. For if you practice evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain; for it is a servant of God, a revenger for wrath on him who does evil.

¹¹ Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against his brother, and who judges his brother, speaks against the Law and judges the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a doer of the Law, but a judge. ¹² There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you who judges another?
