⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so the Son of Man shall be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁹ But those who seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the depths of the earth.

¹⁷ And Jehovah had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

² and he said, I cried to Jehovah from my distress. And He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried for help, and You heard my voice. ³ For You cast me into the depths of the seas, and the current surrounded me. All Your breakers and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, I am cast off from Your eyes, yet I will look again toward Your holy temple. ⁵ Waters encompassed me, even to the soul; the depth closed around me; the seaweed was bound to my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was around me forever; yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.

²⁰ And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²³ And they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised again. And they grieved exceedingly.

⁴⁰ and saying, You destroying the temple and building it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁶³ saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while He was living, After three days I will rise again. ⁶⁴ Then command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away and say to the people, He has risen from the dead. So the last error will be worse than the first.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.
