⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brothers, James and Joses and Simon and Judas,

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

⁷ So says Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, His Holy One, to Him whom man despises, to Him whom the nation hates, the servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, rulers also shall worship, because of Jehovah who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose You.

² For He comes up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground; He has no form nor majesty that we should see Him, nor an appearance that we should desire Him. ³ He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was this way (for His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph) before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ But Joseph, her husband to be, being just, and not willing to make her a public example, he purposed to put her away secretly. ²⁰ And as he thought upon these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take to you Mary as your wife. ⁵⁶ among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him.

⁴⁰ And also women were watching from a distance, among whom also was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,

⁴⁷ And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where He was laid.

²⁷ to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary.

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the rest with them, who told these things to the apostles.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law and the Prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

⁴² And they said, Is this not Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How now does this One say, I have come down from Heaven?

⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But others said, Does the Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Has the Scripture not said that Christ comes from the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

²⁹ We know that God spoke to Moses, but we do not know from where this man is.

²⁵ And His mother stood by the cross of Jesus, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

¹⁹ But I saw no other of the apostles, except James the Lord's brother.
