²⁵ The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked shall lack.

⁴⁸ therefore you shall serve your enemies which Jehovah shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in the lack of all things. And he shall put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you.

²⁴ Exhaustion by famine, and consumption by burning heat, and bitter destruction, and the teeth of beasts I will send on them, with the poison of crawling things of the dust.

¹⁰ The young lions lack, and suffer hunger; but those who seek Jehovah shall not lack any good thing.

³ Trust in Jehovah, and do good; you shall dwell in the land, and you shall be fed on truth.

¹⁶ A little to the righteous is better than the riches of many wicked.

¹⁸ Jehovah knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. ¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

¹¹ so shall your poverty come as one who travels, and your need like an armed man.

³ Jehovah will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry; but He casts away the desire of the wicked.

³⁴ then your poverty comes stalking, and your want like a man armed with a shield.

¹³ So the Lord Jehovah says, Behold, My servants will eat, but you will be hungry. Behold, My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. Behold, My servants will rejoice, but you will be ashamed. ¹⁴ Behold, My servants will sing for joy of heart, but you will cry for sorrow of heart, and will howl because of a breaking of spirit.

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded you this, that if anyone would not work, neither should he eat.

⁸ For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the present life, and of that which is to come.

⁵ Let your way of life be without the love of money, and be content with such things as you have, for He has said, "Not at all will I leave you, not at all will I forsake you, never!"
