¹⁶ When I thought deeply in order to understand this, it was painful for me,

⁶ Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Jehovah, You keep man and beast.

⁶ Surely a man walks about like a shadow! Surely they are in an uproar in vain. He heaps up, and does not know who shall gather them.

¹⁹ Your way is in the sea, and Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps are not known.

² Clouds and darkness are all around Him; righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His throne.

² Surely I am more like an animal than any man, and do not have the understanding of a man. ³ I have not learned wisdom, nor the knowledge of the holy.

¹⁷ Then I looked at all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun; because though a man labors to seek it out, yet he shall not find it. Yea, further, though a wise one speaks of knowing, yet he shall not be able to find it.

³² For He will be delivered to the nations and will be mocked and insulted and spat on. ³³ And they will scourge Him and put Him to death, and the third day He will rise again. ³⁴ And they did not understand any of these things. And this saying was hidden from them, nor did they know the things which were spoken.

¹⁸ Therefore they said, What is this that He says, A little while? We do not know what He is saying. ¹⁹ Then Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and said to them, Do you seek answers with one another concerning this, because I said, A little while and you shall not see Me; and again a little while, and you shall see Me?

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!
