¹ Moreover David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries and with cymbals. And the number of those who did the work according to their service was:

⁵ After that you will come to the hill of God where is the garrison of the Philistines. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery and a timbrel and a pipe and a harp, before them and they will be prophesying.

¹⁵ But now bring me a minstrel. And it happened, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah came upon him.

³³ And these are those who served and their sons.
Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

³⁹ And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

⁴⁴ And on the left hand their brothers the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

²⁸ and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor and of his father's house twenty-two captains.

¹⁶ And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding-aloud and lifting up the voice with joy. ¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel. And of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah. And of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah. ¹⁸ And with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben and Jaaziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni, Eliab and Benaiah and Maaseiah and Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.
¹⁹ So the singers, Heman, Asaph and Ethan, were appointed with cymbals of brass to sound-aloud. ²⁰ And Zechariah and Aziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni and Eliab and Maaseiah and Benaiah, with psalteries set to Alamoth. ²¹ And Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel and Azaziah, with harps set to the Sheminith, to lead.

⁴ And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of Jehovah and to celebrate and to thank and praise Jehovah, the God of Israel: ⁵ Asaph the chief and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Mattithiah and Eliab and Benaiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps and Asaph with cymbals, sounding-aloud,

⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Jehovah because his loving kindness is everlasting. ⁴² And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who should sound-aloud and with instruments for the songs of God and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

² And he gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

⁵ and four thousand were gatekeepers and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which David said I made to praise Him.
⁶ And David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
⁷ Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.

⁵ Thus they were divided by lot, one sort with another. For there were rulers of the sanctuary and rulers for God, both of the sons of Eleazar and of the sons of Ithamar. ⁶ And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king and the princes and Zadok the priest and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar and the heads of the fathers of the priests and of the Levites, one fathers' house being taken for Eleazar and one taken for Ithamar.

³ Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah and Zeri and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Jehovah.

¹ And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan and Azariah the son of Obed and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.

⁹ And Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears and bucklers and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.

¹³ And she looked, and behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance and the captains and the trumpets by the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets. The singers also played on instruments of music and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and said, Treason! treason!

²⁵ And he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries and with harps, according to the commandment of David and of Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet. For the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets. ²⁶ And the Levites stood with the instruments of David and the priests with the trumpets.

² And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of Jehovah.

¹² And the men did the work faithfully.
And the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward and others of the Levites, all who were skillful with instruments of music.

¹⁰ And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Jehovah, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, after the order of David King of Israel. ¹¹ And they sang one to another in praising and giving thanks to Jehovah, saying, For he is good, for his loving kindness is everlasting toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid.

²⁴ And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch.

²⁷ And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries and with harps.

⁴³ And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy. And the women also and the children rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.
⁴⁴ And on that day men were appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the heave offerings, for the first-fruits and for the tithes, to gather into them, according to the fields of the cities, the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites. For Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites who served.
⁴⁵ And they kept the charge of their God and the charge of the purification and also the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the commandment of David and of Solomon his son. ⁴⁶ For in the days of David and Asaph of long-ago there was a chief of the singers and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.

² Raise a song and bring here the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

¹ It is a good thing to give thanks to Jehovah and to sing praises to your name, O Most High, ² to show forth your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night, ³ with an instrument of ten strings and with the psaltery, with a meditation resounding upon the harp.

³ Praise him with horn and trumpet-blast. Praise him with psaltery and harp. ⁴ Praise him with timbrel and dance. Praise him with stringed instruments and pipe. ⁵ Praise him with loud cymbals. Praise him with alarming like cymbals.

²⁴ But if all prophesy and some unbelieving or unskilled person comes in, he is reproved by all. He is judged by all. ²⁵ And thus, the secret things of his heart become apparent, and so, when he has fallen down upon his face, he will be worshiping God, reporting that God really is among you.
²⁶ Therefore brethren, what is it? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a foreign language, has a translation. Let all things happen for the building up.

² And I saw like a sea of glass having been mingled with fire, and those who are overcoming from the beast and from his image and from the number of his name, standing upon the glassy sea, having harps of God. ³ And they are singing the song of Moses the bondservant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty; your ways are righteous and true, the King of the nations. ⁴ Who should never fear you, Lord, and should glorify your name? Because only you are holy, because all the nations will be coming and will be worshiping in your sight, because your righteousnesses were manifested.
