⁷ Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

² that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. ³ And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart, for Jehovah is with you.

³ You know how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.

¹⁷ Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

¹ And it happened, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah dwells under curtains.

⁷ And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God.

² Then David the king stood up upon his feet and said, Hear me, my brothers and my people. As for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah and for the footstool of our God. And I had made ready for the building. ³ But God said to me, You will not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war and have shed blood.
⁴ However Jehovah, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel everlasting. For he has chosen Judah to be ruler and in the house of Judah, the house of my father and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.
