Deuteronomy 29:23-28

23 The whole land of it is brimstone and salt, a burning. It is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger and in his wrath, 24 even all the nations will say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger?

Deuteronomy 31:17-18

17 Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? 18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they will have worked, in that they have turned to other gods.
