²⁰ For it happened in Jerusalem and Judah through the anger of Jehovah, until he had cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

¹⁴ For this time I will send all my plagues upon your heart and upon your servants and upon your people, that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. ¹⁵ For now I have put forth my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence,
and you have been cut off from the earth.
¹⁶ But indeed for this cause I have raised you up, to display in you my power and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.
¹⁷ As yet you exalt yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?

³⁰ But Sihon King of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for Jehovah your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as at this day.

²⁷ Therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book.

¹⁷ Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath will be kindled against this place and it will not be quenched.

¹³ And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. But he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to Jehovah, the God of Israel.

¹¹ The rulers of Zoan are utterly foolish. The counsel of the wisest counselors of Pharaoh has become stupid. How will you* say to Pharaoh, I am the son of wise men, the son of long-ago kings? ¹² Where then are your wise men? And let them tell you now and let them know what Jehovah of hosts has purposed concerning Egypt. ¹³ The rulers of Zoan have become fools. The rulers of Memphis are deceived. They have caused Egypt to go-astray, the chief of her tribes.
¹⁴ Jehovah has mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her and they have made Egypt go-astray in every work of it, as a drunken man wanders around in his vomit.

¹² And I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your* necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people and live. ¹³ Why will you* die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine and by the pestilence, as Jehovah has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
¹⁴ And listen not to the words of the prophets who speak to you*, saying, You* will not serve the king of Babylon, for they prophesy a lie to you*. ¹⁵ For I have not sent them, says Jehovah, but they prophesy falsely in my name, that I may drive you* out and that you* may perish, you* and the prophets who prophesy to you*.

¹⁷ Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, Jehovah says thus, the God of hosts, the God of Israel. If you will go forth to the king of Babylon's rulers, then your soul will live and this city will not be burned with fire and you will live and your house.
¹⁸ But if you will not go forth to the king of Babylon's rulers, then this city will be given into the hand of the Chaldeans and they will burn it with fire and you will not escape out of their hand.
¹⁹ And Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews who have fallen away to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand and they abuse me. ²⁰ But Jeremiah said, They will not deliver you. I beseech you, obey, the voice of Jehovah, in what I speak to you, so it will be well with you and your soul will live.
²¹ But if you refuse to go forth, this is the word that Jehovah has shown me:

¹⁵ But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt that they might give him horses and many people. Shall he prosper? Shall he escape who does such things? Shall he break the covenant and yet escape?
¹⁶ As I live, says the lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he will die.
¹⁷ Nor will Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons. ¹⁸ For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant. And behold, he had given his hand and yet has done all these things. He will not escape.
¹⁹ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: As I live, surely my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken, I will even bring it upon his own head. ²⁰ And I will spread my net upon him and he will be taken in my snare. And I will bring him to Babylon and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.

²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

⁹ even he, whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary in every power and in signs and in lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness in those who are perishing, because they did not accept the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will be sending them a working of error, that they may believe in the lie;
