² in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years of which the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even the seventy years.

²¹ to fulfill the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths; as long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

¹ Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying,

³ Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary. ⁴ Your adversaries have roared in the midst of your assembly. They have set up their ensigns for signs.
⁵ They seemed as men who lifted up axes upon a thicket of trees. ⁶ And now they break down all the carved work of it with hatchet and hammers.
⁷ They have set your sanctuary on fire. They have profaned the dwelling-place of your name to the ground.

¹ O God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.
² They have given the dead bodies of your servants to be food to the birds of the heavens, the flesh of your holy ones to the beasts of the earth.

²⁴ Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers, because your testimonies are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the aged because I have kept your precepts.

¹¹ Then I said, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until cities be waste without inhabitant and houses without man and the land become utterly waste, ¹² and Jehovah has removed men far away and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land.

¹⁰ The waste city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in. ¹¹ There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The gladness of the land has gone. ¹² Desolation is left in the city and the gate is struck with destruction.

¹⁰ Your holy cities have become a wilderness. Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

³⁴ Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land will become a waste.

¹¹ And this whole land will be a desolation and an astonishment. And these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
¹² And it will happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, says Jehovah, for their iniquity and the land of the Chaldeans and I will make it desolate everlasting.

¹⁸ Jerusalem and the cities of Judah and the kings of it and the rulers of it, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing and a curse, as it is this day,

⁶ then I will make this house like Shiloh and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

¹⁸ Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Jehovah of hosts says thus: Zion will be plowed as a field and Jerusalem will become heaps and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

⁷ And all the nations will serve him and his son and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings will make him their bondman.

¹⁰ For Jehovah says thus, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you* and perform my good word toward you* in causing you* to return to this place.

¹ How the city sits solitary, that was full of people! She has become as a widow, who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces has become forced-labor!

¹⁵ And it happened, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it, and behold, there stood before me someone as the appearance of a man. ¹⁶ And I heard a man's voice between the banks of the Ulai, which called and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

¹² Therefore for your* sake Zion will be plowed as a field and Jerusalem will become heaps and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

⁵ Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, When you* fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did you* at all fast to me, even to me?

¹⁵ Therefore, whenever you behold the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let the one who is reading perceive),

¹⁴ But whenever you behold the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing where it ought not to be (let the one who is reading perceive), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;

³⁴ But Philip answered and said to the eunuch, I am beseeching you, concerning whom is the prophet speaking about in this? Is he speaking concerning himself or concerning some other person?

¹³ Until I come, take-heed to the public-reading, to the encouragement, to the teaching.

¹⁵ And you have known, that from a baby, the sacred Scriptures which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
¹⁶ All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for education which is in righteousness, ¹⁷ in order that the man of God may be equipped, having been utterly equipped for every good work.

¹⁰ Concerning which salvation the prophets, who prophesied concerning the favor that would come to you, sought out and utterly searched out; ¹¹ searching what time or what sort of time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating, when testifying beforehand of the sufferings for Christ and the glories following after these things. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that they were serving these things not to themselves, but to you; which things now have been reported to you through those who proclaimed the good-news to you in the Holy Spirit, when he was sent forth from heaven; into which things messengers desire to peer into.

¹⁹ And we have the steadfast prophetic word, (as to a lamp appearing in a dreary place, until the day should dawn and the morning-star might rise), to which you are doing well, and taking-heed in your hearts. ²⁰ Knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture does not come from one’s own interpretation. ²¹ For no prophecy was ever brought about by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke the word being carried by the Holy Spirit.

³ The fortunate one reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and are keeping the things which have been written in it; for the time is near.
