Deuteronomy Cross References - MLV

1 These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah opposite Suph, between Paran and Tophel and Laban and Hazeroth and Di-zahab. 2 It is eleven days journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.
3 And it happened in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, according to all that Jehovah had given him in commandment to them, 4 after he had struck Sihon the King of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and Og the King of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.
5 Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying, 6 Jehovah our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying, You* have dwelt long enough at this mountain. 7 Turn and take your* journey and go to the hill-country of the Amorites and to all the places near to it, in the Arabah, in the hill-country and in the lowland and in the South and by the sea-shore, the land of the Canaanites and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 Behold, I have set the land before you*. Go in and possess the land which Jehovah swore to your* fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.
9 And I spoke to you* at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you* myself alone. 10 Jehovah your* God has multiplied you*, and behold, you* are this day as the stars of heaven for a multitude. 11 Jehovah, the God of your* fathers, make you* a thousand times as many as you* are and bless you*, as he has promised you*! 12 How can I myself alone bear your* encumbrance and your* burden and your* strife? 13 Take for you* wise men and understanding and known, according to your* tribes and I will make them heads over you*.
14 And you* answered me and said, The thing which you have spoken is good to do. 15 So I took the heads of your* tribes, wise men and known and made them heads over you*, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds and captains of fifties and captains of tens and officers, according to your* tribes.
16 And I charged your* judges at that time, saying, Hear between your* brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother and the traveler who is with him. 17 You* will not respect persons in judgment. You* will hear the small and the great alike. You* will not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God's. And the case that is too hard for you* you* will bring to me and I will hear it. 18 And I commanded you* at that time all the things which you* should do.
19 And we journeyed from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you* saw, by the way to the hill-country of the Amorites, as Jehovah our God commanded us and we came to Kadesh-barnea. 20 And I said to you*, You* have come to the hill-country of the Amorites, which Jehovah our God gives to us. 21 Behold, Jehovah your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as Jehovah, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you. Do not fear, neither be dismayed.
22 And you* came near to me, all of you* and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities to which we will come. 23 And the thing pleased me well. And I took twelve men of you*, one man for every tribe.
24 And they turned and went up into the hill country and came to the valley of Eshcol and spied it out. 25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us and brought us word again and said, It is a good land which Jehovah our God gives to us.
26 Yet you* would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your* God. 27 And you* murmured in your* tents and said, Because Jehovah hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. 28 Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.
29 Then I said to you*, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. 30 Jehovah your* God who goes before you*, he will fight for you*, according to all that he did for you* in Egypt before your* eyes, 31 and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that Jehovah your God bore you, as a man bears his son, in all the way that you* went, until you* came to this place.
32 Yet in this thing you* did not believe Jehovah your* God, 33 who went before you* in the way, to seek out a place for you* to pitch your* tents in, in fire by night, to show you* by what way you* should go and in the cloud by day.
34 And Jehovah heard the voice of your* words and was angry and swore, saying, 35 Surely there will not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land, which I swore to give to your* fathers, 36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He will see it and I will give to him the land that he has trodden upon and to his sons, because he has entirely followed Jehovah.
37 Also Jehovah was angry with me for your* sakes, saying, You also will not go in there. 38 Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he will go in there. Encourage him, for he will cause Israel to inherit it. 39 Moreover your* little ones, who you* said would be a prey and your* sons, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they will go in there and I will give it to them and they will possess it. 40 But as for you*, turn and take your* journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.
41 Then you* answered and said to me, We have sinned against Jehovah, we will go up and fight according to all that Jehovah our God commanded us. And you* girded on every man his weapons of war and were forward to go up into the hill-country. 42 And Jehovah said to me, Say to them, Do not go up, neither fight, for I am not among you*, lest you* are struck before your* enemies.
43 So I spoke to you* and you* did not listen, but you* rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah and were presumptuous and went up into the hill-country. 44 And the Amorites, who dwelt in that hill-country, came out against you* and chased you*, as bees do and beat you* down in Seir, even to Hormah. 45 And you* returned and wept before Jehovah, but Jehovah did not listen to your* voice, nor gave ear to you*.

24 And Israel killed* him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the sons of Ammon, for the border of the sons of Ammon was strong. 25 And Israel took all these cities. And Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all the towns of it. 26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the King of the Amorites, who had fought against the former King of Moab and had taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon. 27 Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, Come you* to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established. 28 For a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of the Arnon. 29 Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh. 33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan. And Og the King of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. 34 And Jehovah said to Moses, Fear him not, for I have delivered him into your hand and all his people and his land. 26 And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh and brought back word to them and to all the congregation and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him and said, We came to the land where you sent us. And surely it flows with milk and honey and this is the fruit of it.
28 However the people who dwell in the land are strong and the cities are fortified, very great and moreover we saw the sons of Anak there. 29 Amalek dwells in the land of the South. And the Hittite and the Jebusite and the Amorite, dwell in the hill-country. And the Canaanite dwells by the sea and along by the side of the Jordan.
30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men who went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we. 32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the sons of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up the inhabitants of it. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 And we saw there the giants, the sons of Anak, who come of the giants. And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers and so we were in their sight.

(Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23 And they came to the valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes and they bore it upon a staff between two, also of the pomegranates and of the figs. 24 That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut down from there. 25 And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.

Numbers 14:1-4

1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried and the people wept that night. 2 And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. And the whole congregation said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt, or would that we had died in this wilderness! 3 And why does Jehovah bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey. Were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

Exodus 7:1-25

1 And Jehovah said to Moses, See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh and Aaron your brother will be your prophet. 2 You will speak all that I command you and Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh, that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land.
3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. 4 But Pharaoh will not listen to you*. And I will lay my hand upon Egypt and bring forth my armies, my people the sons of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. 5 And the Egyptians will know that I am Jehovah, when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from among them.
6 And Moses and Aaron did so, as Jehovah commanded them, so they did. 7 And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
8 And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 9 When Pharaoh will speak to you*, saying, Show a wonder for you*, then you will say to Aaron, Take your rod and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent. 10 And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh. And they did so, as Jehovah had commanded and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants and it became a serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. And they also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod and they became serpents, but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. 13 And Pharaoh's heart was hardened and he did not listen to them, as Jehovah had spoken.
14 And Jehovah said to Moses, Pharaoh's heart is stubborn; he refuses to let the people go. 15 You get to Pharaoh in the morning behold, he goes out to the water and you will stand by the river's edge to meet him and the rod which was turned to a serpent you will take in your hand. 16 And you will say to him, Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. And behold, until now you have not listened.
17 Jehovah says thus, In this you will know that I am Jehovah. Behold, I will kill* with the rod that is in my hand upon the waters which are in the river and they will be turned to blood. 18 And the fish that are in the river will die and the river will become foul and the Egyptians will loathe to drink water from the river.
19 And Jehovah said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams and over their pools and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood and there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.
20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as Jehovah commanded. And he lifted up the rod and killed* the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. 21 And the fish that were in the river died and the river became foul and the Egyptians could not drink water from the river. And the blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.
22 And the magicians of Egypt did in like manner with their enchantments. And Pharaoh's heart was hardened and he did not listen to them, as Jehovah had spoken. 23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he lay even this to heart.
24 And all the Egyptians dug all around the river for water to drink, because they could not drink of the water of the river. 25 And seven days were fulfilled, after Jehovah had struck the river.

1 Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to Jehovah and spoke, saying, I will sing to Jehovah, because he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
2 Jehovah is my strength and song and he has become my salvation. This is my God and I will praise him, my father's God and I will exalt him. 3 Jehovah is a man of war. Jehovah is his name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his army he has cast into the sea and his chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea. 5 The depths cover them. They went down into the depths like a stone.
6 Your right hand, O Jehovah, is glorious in power. Your right hand, O Jehovah, dashes the enemy in pieces. 7 And in the greatness of your excellency you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send forth your wrath, it consumes them as stubble. 8 And with the blast of your nostrils the waters were piled up. The flowing waters stood up as a heap. The depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire will be satisfied upon them. I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them. 10 You did blow with your wind, the sea covered them. They sank as lead in the mighty waters.
11 Who is like you, O Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12 You stretched out your right hand, the earth swallowed them. 13 You in your loving kindness have led the people that you have redeemed. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.
14 The peoples have heard, they tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. 15 Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed, the mighty men of Moab. Trembling takes hold upon them. All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away. 16 Terror and dread falls upon them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, till your people pass over, O Jehovah, till the people pass over whom you have purchased.
17 You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance, the place, O Jehovah, which you have made for you to dwell in, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established. 18 Jehovah will reign everlasting and forever.
19 For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea and Jehovah brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the sons of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam answered them, Sing to Jehovah, because he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
22 And Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea and they went out into the wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, because they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What will we drink? 25 And he cried to Jehovah. And Jehovah showed him a tree and he cast it into the waters and the waters were made sweet. There he made for them a statute and an ordinance and there he proved them.
26 And he said, If you will diligently listen to the voice of Jehovah your God and will do what is right in his eyes and will listen to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you, which I have put upon the Egyptians, because I am Jehovah who heals you.

Do not let your* heart faint. Do not fear, nor tremble, neither be you* frightened at them. 4 For Jehovah your* God is he who goes with you*, to fight for you* against your* enemies, to save you*.

47 He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with frost. 48 He also gave over their cattle to the hail and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath and indignation and trouble, a discharge of messengers of evil.
50 He made a path for his anger. He spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence, 51 and killed* all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.

Exodus 16:1-17

1 And they took their journey from Elim. And all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2 And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness. 3 And the sons of Israel said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, because you* have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
4 Then Jehovah said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you* and the people will go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not. 5 And it will happen on the sixth day, that they will prepare what they bring in and it will be twice as much as they gather daily.
6 And Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, At evening, then you* will know that Jehovah has brought you* out from the land of Egypt, 7 and in the morning, then you* will see the glory of Jehovah, because he hears your* murmurings against Jehovah. And what are we, that you* murmur against us?
8 And Moses said, This will be when Jehovah will give you* flesh to eat in the evening and bread to the full in the morning, when Jehovah hears your* murmurings which you* murmur against him. And what are we? Your* murmurings are not against us, because they are against Jehovah. 9 And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, Come near before Jehovah, because he has heard your* murmurings. 10 And it happened, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.
11 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 12 I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel. Speak to them, saying, At evening you* will eat flesh and in the morning you* will be filled with bread. And you* will know that I am Jehovah your* God.
13 And it happened at evening, that the quails came up and covered the camp. And in the morning the dew lay all around the camp, 14 and when the dew that lay had gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness a small round thing, small as the hoarfrost on the ground.
15 And when the sons of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is it? For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, It is the bread which Jehovah has given you* to eat. 16 This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer a head. According to the number of your* persons, you* will take it, every man for those who are in his tent.
17 And the sons of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less.

And why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people upon me? 12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should say to me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nurturing father carries the sucking child, to the land which you swore to their fathers?

12 Jehovah alone led him and there was no foreign god with him.

Nehemiah 9:12-23

12 Moreover in a pillar of cloud you led them by day and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light in the way in which they should go.
13 You also came down upon Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, 14 and made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law, by Moses your servant.
15 And you gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and brought out water for them out of the rock for their thirst and commanded them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.
16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly and stiffened their neck and did not listen to your commandments, 17 and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but stiffened their neck. And in their rebellion they appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and did not forsake them.
18 Yes, when they had made a molten calf for them and said, This is your God that brought you up out of Egypt and had worked great provocations, 19 yet you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud did not depart from over them by day to lead them in the way, neither the pillar of fire by night to show them light and the way in which they should go.
20 You also gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. 21 Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing; their clothes did not grow old and their feet did not swell.
22 Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted after their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon and the land of Og king of Bashan. 23 Their sons you also multiplied as the stars of heaven and brought them into the land concerning which you said to their fathers that they should go in to possess it.

Psalms 78:14-28

14 He led them with a cloud in the daytime also and all the night with a light of fire. 15 He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them to drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16 He brought streams also out of the rock and caused waters to run down like rivers. 17 Yet they went on to still sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 And they challenged God in their heart by asking food according to their desire. 19 Yes, they spoke against God. They said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, he killed* the rock, so that waters gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?
21 Therefore Jehovah heard and was angry. And a fire was kindled against Jacob and anger also went up against Israel, 22 because they did not believe in God and did not trust in his salvation.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven, 24 and he rained down manna upon them to eat and gave them food from heaven.
25 Man ate the bread of the mighty. He sent them food to the full.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens and by his power he guided the south wind. 27 He also rained meat upon them as the dust and winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp all around their habitations.

And in the place where the cloud abode, there the sons of Israel encamped. 18 At the commandment of Jehovah the sons of Israel journeyed and at the commandment of Jehovah they encamped. As long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they remained encamped. 19 And when the cloud stayed upon the tabernacle many days, then the sons of Israel kept the charge of Jehovah and did not journey. 20 And sometimes the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle, then according to the commandment of Jehovah they remained encamped and according to the commandment of Jehovah they journeyed. 21 And sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed, or if by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.

25 Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley. Tomorrow turn and get into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.
26 And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they murmur against me. 28 Say to them, As I live, says Jehovah, surely as you* have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you*. 29 Your* dead bodies will fall in this wilderness. And all who were numbered of you*, according to your* whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me, 30 surely you* will not come into the land, concerning which I swore that I would make you* dwell in it, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

10 And Jehovah's anger was kindled in that day and he swore, saying, 11 Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, will see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob; because they have not entirely followed me, 12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, because they have entirely followed Jehovah. 13 And Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel and he made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of Jehovah was consumed.

8 Nevertheless my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I entirely followed Jehovah my God. 9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land in which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your sons everlasting because you have entirely followed Jehovah my God.
10 And now, behold, Jehovah has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war and to go out and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this hill-country of which Jehovah spoke in that day. For you heard in that day how the Anakim were there and cities great and fortified. It may be that Jehovah will be with me and I will drive them out, as Jehovah spoke.

14 And it happened, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field. And she dismounted from her donkey and Caleb said to her, What would you? 15 And she said to him, Give me a blessing, since you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. 11 And it happened, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses' hands were heavy. And they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua weakened Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
