¹ And God spoke all these words, saying,
² I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ³ You will have no other gods before me.
⁴ You will not make to you a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, because I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me, ⁶ and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
⁷ You will not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain, because Jehovah will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
⁸ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹ Six days you will labor and do all your work, ¹⁰ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God. You will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your man-servant, nor your maid-servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, ¹¹ for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them and rested the seventh day. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. ¹² Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.
¹³ You will not murder.
¹⁴ You will not commit adultery.
¹⁵ You will not steal.
¹⁶ You will not bear false witness against your neighbor.
¹⁷ You will not desire your neighbor's house. You will not desire your neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.
¹⁸ And all the people perceived the thunderings and the lightnings and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking. And when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
¹⁹ And they said to Moses, Speak with us and we will hear, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die. ²⁰ And Moses said to the people, Do not fear, because God has come to prove you* and that his fear may be before you*, that you* not sin. ²¹ And the people stood afar off and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
²² And Jehovah said to Moses, Thus you will say to the sons of Israel, You* yourselves have seen that I have talked with you* from heaven. ²³ You* will not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, you* will not make to you*.
²⁴ An altar of earth you will make to me and will sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I record my name I will come to you and I will bless you.
²⁵ And if you make to me an altar of stone, you will not build it of hewn stones, because if you lift up your tool upon it, you have polluted it.
²⁶ Neither will you go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness is not uncovered on it.

³³ Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard and live?

³⁶ Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you. And upon earth he made you to see his great fire and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

⁴ Jehovah spoke with you* face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire

²² These words Jehovah spoke to all your* assembly on the mountain out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud and of the thick darkness, with a great voice and he added no more. And he wrote them upon two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

³⁸ This is he who came to be in the congregation in the wilderness with the messenger who spoke to him on Mount Sinai and from our fathers. This is he who accepted the living word to give to us;

⁵³ You who received the law at the commandment from God’s messengers and did not observe it.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give to you and to your seed after you, the land of your travels, all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession and I will be their God.

¹ And Jehovah said to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, becauseI have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs in the midst of them, ² and that you may tell in the ears of your son and of your son's son, what things I have worked upon Egypt and my signs which I have done among them, that you* may know that I am Jehovah.
³ And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, Jehovah says thus, the God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me. ⁴ Else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your border.
⁵ And they will cover the face of the earth, so that no man is able to see the ground. And they will eat the residue of what has escaped, which remains to you* from the hail and will eat every tree which grows for you* out of the field.
⁶ And your houses will be filled and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth to this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve Jehovah their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?
⁸ And Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh. And he said to them, Go, serve Jehovah your* God, but who are those who will go? ⁹ And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go, because we must hold a feast to Jehovah. ¹⁰ And he said to them, So be Jehovah with you*, as I will let you* go and your* little ones–Look, evil is before you*. ¹¹ Not so. Go now who are men and serve Jehovah, becausethat is what you* desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
¹² And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left. ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt and Jehovah brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all the night and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
¹⁴ And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested in all the borders of Egypt, very grievous were they, before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them will be such. ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole ground, so that the land was darkened and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. And there remained not any green thing, either tree nor herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

³ And Moses said to the people, Remember this day, in which you* came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage, because by strength of hand Jehovah brought you* out from this place. There will no leavened bread be eaten.

³⁶ You* will have just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Jehovah your* God, who brought you* out of the land of Egypt.

⁴³ that your* genealogy may know that I made the sons of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Jehovah your* God.

¹ You* will make for you* no idols. Neither will you* rear up for you* a graven image, or a pillar. Neither will you* place any figured stone in your* land, to bow down to it. For I am Jehovah your* God.

¹³ I am Jehovah your* God, who brought you* forth out of the land of Egypt, that you* should not be their bondmen. And I have broken the bars of your* yoke and made you* go upright.

⁶ I am Jehovah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And you will remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm, therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

⁴ Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. ⁵ And you will love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

⁸ but because Jehovah loves you*. And because he would keep the oath which he swore to your* fathers, Jehovah has brought you* out with a mighty hand and redeemed you* out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh King of Egypt.

¹⁰ And you will stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And you will remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

⁶ And the Egyptians dealt ill with us and afflicted us and laid upon us hard bondage.
⁷ And we cried to Jehovah, the God of our fathers and Jehovah heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression. ⁸ And Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with great terribleness and with signs and with wonders.

⁵ Therefore Jehovah his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And they killed* him and carried away of his a great multitude of captives and brought them to Damascus.
And he was also delivered into the hand of the King of Israel, who killed* him with a great slaughter.

⁷ Hear, O my people and I will speak, O Israel and I will testify to you, I am God, even your God.

¹⁰ I am Jehovah your God who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

¹ At that time, says Jehovah, I will be the God of all the families of Israel and they will be my people.

³³ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Jehovah: I will give my laws into their mind and I will write them on their hearts. And I will be their God and they will be my people.

⁴ Yet I am Jehovah your God from the land of Egypt and you will know no god but me and besides me there is no savior.

²⁹ Or is God the God of Jews only and not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also.

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, being rich toward all who are calling upon him;

¹¹ Who is like you, O Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

²³ You* will not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, you* will not make to you*.

⁷ You will have no other gods before me.

⁵ And you will love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

¹⁴ You* will not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are all around you*,

¹⁸ And Jehovah drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites who dwelt in the land. Therefore we also will serve Jehovah, for he is our God.
¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You* cannot serve Jehovah, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your* transgression nor your* sins. ²⁰ If you* forsake Jehovah and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you* evil and consume you*, after he has done you* good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve Jehovah.
²² And Joshua said to the people, You* are witnesses against yourselves that you* have chosen for you*, Jehovah, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses. ²³ Now therefore, he said, put away the foreign gods which are among you* and incline your* heart to Jehovah, the God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, we will serve Jehovah our God and we will listen to his voice.

²⁹ However every nation made gods of their own and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelt. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth and the men of Cuth made Nergal and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak. And the Sepharvites burnt their sons in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
³² So they were afraid of Jehovah and made for them priests of the high places from among themselves, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They were afraid of Jehovah and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away. ³⁴ To this day they do after the former manner. They do not fear Jehovah, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law or after the commandment which Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel, ³⁵ with whom Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You* will not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them.

² Give to Jehovah the glory due to his name. Worship Jehovah in holy array.

²⁵ Whom have I in heaven? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides you.

⁹ There will be no strange god in you, nor will you worship any foreign god.

⁴ Trust in Jehovah forever, for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock.

¹⁰ You* are my witnesses, says Jehovah and my servant whom I have chosen, that you* may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, nor will there be after me.

⁸ Do not fear, nor be afraid. Have I not declared to you of old and shown it? And you* are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Yes, there is no Rock. I do not know any.

²¹ Declare and bring it forth. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from long-ago? Who has declared it long since? Have not I, Jehovah? And there is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior. There is none besides me. ²² Look to me and be you* saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.

⁹ Remember the former things of old, for I am God and there is none else. I am God and there is none like me,

⁶ And do not go after other gods to serve them and to worship them and provoke me not to anger with the work of your* hands. And I will do you* no hurt.

¹⁵ I have also sent to you* all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return now every man from his evil way and amend your* practices and do not go after other gods to serve them and you* will dwell in the land which I have given to you* and to your* fathers. But you* have not inclined your* ear, nor listened to me.

¹⁰ Then Jesus says to him, Go behind me, Adversary! For it has been written, ‘You will worship the Lord your God and you will give-divine service to him only.’

⁴ Therefore concerning the food of idol-sacrifices, we know that an idol in the world is nothing and that there is no other God except one.

⁶ but to us, there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we are for him, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we are through him.

⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor greedy person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly and whose glory is in their shame, who are mindful of earthly things.

¹⁸ Let no one arbitrate against you, willing it so in your humility and in a religion of the messengers; stepping you^\'b0 further into the things which he has not seen, being vainly arrogant by his fleshly mind,

²⁰ Now we know that the Son of God has come and has given us perception, in order that we might know the true one and we are in the true one, that is, in his son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the everlasting life. ²¹ Guard yourselves from idols, my little-children. Amen.

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he says to me, See that you do not do that. I am a fellow bondservant of you and of your brethren who are holding the testimony of Jesus. Worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁹ And he says to me, See that you do not do that. I am your fellow bondservant and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who are keeping the words of this book. Worship God.

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, Up, make gods for us, which will go before us. For as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made for them a molten calf and have worshiped it and have sacrificed to it and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

²³ For they said to me, Make gods for us, which will go before us. For as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

¹⁷ You will make you no molten gods.

⁴ Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molten gods. I am Jehovah your* God.

¹⁵ You* take therefore good heed to yourselves, for you* saw no manner of form on the day that Jehovah spoke to you* in Horeb out of the midst of the fire. ¹⁶ Lest you* corrupt yourselves and make for you* a graven image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky, ¹⁸ the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.
¹⁹ And lest you lift up your eyes to heaven and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are drawn away and worship them and serve them, which Jehovah your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.

²³ Take heed to yourselves, lest you* forget the covenant of Jehovah your* God, which he made with you* and make you* a graven image in the form of anything which Jehovah your God has forbidden you. ²⁴ For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
²⁵ When you will beget sons and son's sons and you* will have been long in the land and will corrupt yourselves and make a graven image in the form of anything and will do what is evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, to provoke him to anger,

⁸ You will not make to you a graven image: any likeness that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

¹⁵ Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to Jehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman and sets it up in secret. And all the people will answer and say, Truly.

²⁸ Upon it the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to them, It is too much for you* to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

⁷ And he set the graven image of the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name everlasting,

⁷ Let all those be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast themselves of idols. Bow yourselves to him, all you* gods.

⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak. They have eyes, but they do not see. ⁶ They have ears, but they do not hear. They have noses, but they do not smell. ⁷ They have hands, but they do not handle. They have feet, but they do not walk, nor do they speak through their throat.
⁸ Those who make them will be like them. Yes, everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
¹⁶ They have mouths, but they do not speak. They have eyes, but they do not see. ¹⁷ They have ears, but they do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.
¹⁸ Those who make them will be like them, yes, everyone who trusts in them.

¹⁸ To whom then will you* liken God? Or what likeness will you* compare to him?
¹⁹ The image, a workman has cast it and the goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts for it silver chains. ²⁰ He who is too impoverished for such an oblation chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks for him a skillful workman to set up a graven image that will not be shaken.

⁸ I am Jehovah. That is my name and I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven images.

¹⁷ They will be turned back, they will be utterly put to shame, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, You* are our gods.

⁹ Those who fashion a graven image are all of them vanity. And the things that they delight in will not profit. And their own witnesses do not see, nor know, that they may be put to shame. ¹⁰ Who has fashioned a god, or molded an image that is profitable for nothing? ¹¹ Behold, all his fellows will be put to shame and the workmen. They are of men. Let them all be gathered together. Let them stand up. They will fear. They will be put to shame together.
¹² The smith makes an axe and works in the coals and fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. Yes, he is hungry and his strength fails. He drinks no water and is faint.
¹³ The carpenter stretches out a line. He marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes. And he marks it out with the compasses and shapes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. ¹⁴ He hews down cedars for him and takes the cypress tree and the oak and strengthens for himself one among the trees of the forest. He plants a fir tree and the rain nourishes it.
¹⁵ Then it will be for a man to burn. And he takes of it and warms himself. Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread. Yes, he makes a god and worships it. He makes it a graven image and falls down to it. ¹⁶ He burns part of it in the fire. He eats flesh with part of it. He roasts roast and is satisfied. Yes, he warms himself and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire. ¹⁷ And the residue of it he makes a god, even his graven image. He falls down to it and worships and prays to it and says, Deliver me, for you are my god.
¹⁸ They do not know, nor do they consider. For he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see and their hearts, that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ And none calls to mind, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire. Yes, I have also baked bread upon the coals of it. I have roasted flesh and eaten it. And shall I make the residue of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
²⁰ He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

¹⁶ They will be put to shame, yes, confounded, all of them. They will go into confusion together who are makers of idols.

⁵ To whom will you* liken me and make me equal and compare me, that we may be alike? ⁶ Such as lavish gold out of the bag and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith and he makes it a god. They fall down, yes, they worship. ⁷ They bear it upon the shoulder. They carry it and set it in its place and it stands. From its place it will not remove. Yes, he may cry to it, yet it cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
⁸ Remember this and show yourselves men. Bring it again to mind, O you* transgressors.

³ For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
For a man cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe. ⁴ They deck it with silver and with gold. They fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it not move. ⁵ They are like a palm tree, of turned work and do not speak. They must be carried, because they cannot go. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, nor is it in them to do good.

⁸ But they are together stupid and foolish, the instruction of idols! It is but a block of wood. ⁹ There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz, the work of the craftsman and of the hands of the goldsmith, blue and purple for their clothing. They are all the work of skillful men.

¹⁴ Every man has become stupid, without knowledge. Every goldsmith is put to shame by his graven image. For his molten image is falsehood and there is no breath in them. ¹⁵ They are vanity, a work of delusion. In the time of their visitation they will perish.
¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like these. For he is the former of all things and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance. Jehovah of hosts is his name.

¹⁰ So I went in and saw, and behold, every form of creeping things and abominable beasts and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall all around.

²⁹ Therefore being the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that God is similar to gold or silver or stone, or a carved thing from a craft and the contemplation of man.

²⁶ And you view and hear, that not only from Ephesus, but almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and seduced a considerable crowd, saying that they are not gods, those born through man’s hands. ²⁷ But not only is this part for us in peril and it is to go into disrepute but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis is to be counted as nothing and her majesty is about to be demolished, what the whole of Asia and inhabited-earth is worshiping.
²⁸ Now having heard this, and having become full of fury, they were crying out, saying, Great is Artemis of Ephesus. ²⁹ And the whole city was filled with confusion and they rushed united into the theater, having seized Paul’s fellow traveling-associates, Gaius and Aristarchus, who were Macedonians. ³⁰ Now Paul was planning to enter into the public area, but the disciples were not permitting him. ³¹ But some also of those from Asia, being friends to him, and having sent for him, they were pleading with him not to give himself to the theater crowd. ³² Therefore some were crying something and others another thing; for the assembly was confused, and most did not know why they had come together. ³³ But they pushed Alexander forward out of the crowd with the Jews, casting him forward. Now Alexander, having beckoned with the hand, was wishing to make a defense to the public. ³⁴ But when they recognized that he was a Jew, one voice became out of them all for approximately two hours, crying, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians. ³⁵ But having the composure of the crowd, the town scribe says, Men of Ephesus, for what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is temple-keeper of the great goddess Artemis and of the fallen image from Zeus?

²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and of four footed mammals and of reptiles.

²⁰ And the rest of mankind, who were not killed with these wounds, did not repent of the works of their hands, in order that they should not worship the demons and the golden and silver and the brass and the stone and the wooden idols; which are not able to see, nor hear, nor walk.

¹⁴ And the one who is misleading those of mine who are dwelling upon the earth because of the signs which was given to him to do in the sight of the beast, saying to those who dwell upon the earth to make an image to the beast, who was holding the wound of death from the sword and lived. ¹⁵ And it was given to it to give breath to the image of the beast, in order that the image of the beast should speak and in order that it should make as many as would not worship to the image of the beast in order that they should be killed.

⁹ And another, a third messenger followed them, saying in a loud voice, If anyone is worshiping the beast and his image and receives a mark upon his forehead or upon his hand, ¹⁰ he will also be drinking out of the wine of the fury of God of which has been mingled undiluted in the cup of his wrath, and he will be tormented in fire and brimstone in the sight of the holy messengers and in the sight of the Lamb; ¹¹ and the smoke of their torment is going up forevermore, and they have no rest day and night, who are worshiping the beast and his image and if anyone receives the mark of his name.

² And the first went and poured out his bowl into the earth, and it became an evil sore and wicked upon the men who had the mark of the beast and who are worshiping his image.

²⁴ You will not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works, but you will utterly overthrow them and break their pillars in pieces.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth, ⁷ keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons' sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

¹⁴ for you will worship no other god. For Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

⁵ then I will set my face against that man and against his family and will cut him off and all who play the prostitute after him, to play the prostitute with Molech, from among their people.

²⁹ And you* will eat the flesh of your* sons and the flesh of your* daughters you* will eat.

³⁹ And those who are left of you* will pine away in their iniquity in your* enemies' lands and also in the iniquities of their fathers they will pine away with them.
⁴⁰ And they will confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me and also that, because they walked contrary to me,

¹⁸ Jehovah is slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

³³ And your* sons will be wanderers in the wilderness forty years and will bear your* prostitutions, until your* dead bodies be consumed in the wilderness.

²⁴ For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

⁹ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, for I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

¹⁵ for Jehovah your God in the midst of you is a jealous God, lest the anger of Jehovah your God be kindled against you and he destroy you from the face of the earth.

¹⁰ and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him who hates him. He will repay him to his face.

²¹ They have moved me to jealousy with what is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities and I will move them to jealousy with a non-nation. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

⁴¹ if I flash my glittering sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to my adversaries and will recompense those who hate me.

⁷ that you* do not come among these nations, these that remain among you*, neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves down to them,

¹⁶ When you* transgress the covenant of Jehovah your* God, which he commanded you* and go and serve other gods and bow down yourselves to them, then the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you* and you* will perish quickly from the good land which he has given to you*.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You* cannot serve Jehovah, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your* transgression nor your* sins.

¹⁹ But it happened, when the judge was dead, that they turned back and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them and to bow down to them. They did not cease from their practices, nor from their stubborn way.

² Jehovah of hosts says thus, I have remembered what Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way when he came up out of Egypt.
³ Now go and kill* Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have and spare them not, but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing-baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

¹ And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Jehovah. And Jehovah said, It is for Saul and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites.

⁶ let seven men of his sons be delivered to us and we will hang them up to Jehovah in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah. And the king said, I will give them.

²⁹ You see how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

³⁵ with whom Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You* will not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them.

⁴¹ So these nations were afraid of Jehovah and served their graven images, their sons likewise and their son's sons, as did their fathers, so do they to this day.

²⁶ Notwithstanding, Jehovah did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him.

¹⁴ Now it happened, after Amaziah came from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the sons of Seir and set them up to be his gods and bowed down himself before them and burned incense to them.

⁴ His sons are far from safety and they are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,

¹⁹ You * say, God lays up his wickedness for his sons. Let him recompense it to himself that he may know it.

⁵⁸ For they provoked him to anger with their high places and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

⁸ Do not remember against us the iniquities of our forefathers. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, because we are brought very low.

¹⁵ (The haters of Jehovah pretend obedience to him, but their time is everlasting.)

¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah and do not let the sin of his mother be blotted out.

³⁴ Because jealousy is a man's fury and he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom, nor will he be satisfied, because you give many gifts.

³⁶ But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul.
All those who hate me love death.

²⁰ You will not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land. You have slain your people. The seed of evildoers will not be named everlasting.
²¹ Prepare you* slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth and fill the face of the world with cities.

¹⁵ Then it will be for a man to burn. And he takes of it and warms himself. Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread. Yes, he makes a god and worships it. He makes it a graven image and falls down to it.

¹⁹ And none calls to mind, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire. Yes, I have also baked bread upon the coals of it. I have roasted flesh and eaten it. And shall I make the residue of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

⁶ Behold, it is written before me. I will not keep silence, but will recompense. Yes, I will recompense into their bosom ⁷ your* own iniquities and the iniquities of your* fathers together, says Jehovah, those who have burned incense upon the mountains and blasphemed me upon the hills. Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.

⁹ Therefore I will yet contend with you*, says Jehovah and I will contend with your* son's sons.

¹⁸ who show loving kindness to thousands and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their sons after them, the great, the mighty God. Jehovah of hosts is his name,

³ And he put forth the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God. And he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god and he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.

² Jehovah is a jealous God and avenges. Jehovah avenges and is full of wrath. Jehovah takes vengeance on his adversaries and he reserves wrath for his enemies.

⁹ and I will be giving you all these things, if you fall down and worship me.

³⁴ Because of this, behold, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes, and out of them you will be killing and will be crucifying, and some of them you will be scourging in your synagogues and will be persecuting from city to city, ³⁵ so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Assuredly I am saying to you, All these things will be coming upon this generation.

⁷ The world is not able to hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying concerning it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me first, then you.

²³ He who hates me also hates my Father. ²⁴ If I had not done the works which no other has done among them, then they were having no sin, but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

³⁰ slandering, spiteful to God, insolent, haughty, braggarts, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

⁷ because the mindset of the flesh is hostility toward God; for it is not subject to the law of God, for neither is it able to be;

²² Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? We are not mightier than him, are we?

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wills to be a friend of the world is designated as an enemy of God.

³⁷ And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt,

²⁹ Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their sons everlasting!

⁹ Know therefore that Jehovah your God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations,

³⁹ And I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them and of their sons after them.
⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good. And I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.

¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments.

²¹ He who holds my commandments and is keeping them, that one is he who loves me and he who loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and will be manifesting myself to him.

³⁹ For the promise is to you and to your children and to all those at afar off, as many as the Lord our God may call.

²⁸ According to the good-news they are indeed enemies because of you, but according to the choice, they are beloved because of the fathers. ²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are unregrettable.

¹⁹ We love him, because he loved us first.

³ For this is the love of God, in order that we should keep his commandments and his commandments are not burdensome.

⁶ And this is love, in order that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, just-as you have heard from the beginning, in order that you should walk in it.

¹² And you* will not swear by my name falsely and profane the name of your God. I am Jehovah.

¹¹ and the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. And they brought him to Moses. And his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. ¹² And they put him in confinement, that it might be declared to them at the mouth of Jehovah. ¹³ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ Bring forth he who has cursed outside the camp and let all who heard him lay their hands upon his head and let all the congregation stone him.
¹⁵ And you will speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God will bear his sin. ¹⁶ And he who blasphemes the name of Jehovah, he will surely be put to death. All the congregation will certainly stone him. As well the traveler, as the home-born, when he blasphemes the Name, will be put to death.

¹¹ You will not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain, for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

²⁰ You will fear Jehovah your God. Him you will serve and to him you will cling and by his name you will swear.

¹² Now therefore, I beseech you*, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you*, that you* also will deal kindly with my father's house and give me a true token,

¹⁷ And the men said to her, We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us to swear.

²⁰ This we will do to them and let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them.

¹ And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Jehovah. And Jehovah said, It is for Saul and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites.
² And the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites and the sons of Israel had sworn to them and yet Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah),

⁹ Now therefore do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man and you will know what you ought to do to him and you will bring his hoar head down to Sheol with blood.

¹⁴ Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will glorify me.
¹⁶ But to the wicked man God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes and that you have taken my covenant in your mouth,

⁹ lest I am full and deny you and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I am poor and steal and use the name of my God profanely.

² And you will swear, As Jehovah lives, in truth, in justice and in righteousness. And the nations will bless themselves in him and in him they will glory.

³³ Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘You will not perjure yourself, but will be giving your oaths to the Lord.’ ³⁴ But I am saying to you, Not to swear in anyway; neither by the heaven, because it is the throne of God; ³⁵ nor by the earth, because it is the footstool of his feet; nor in Jerusalem, because it is the city of the Great King, ³⁶ nor should you swear by your head, because you are unable to make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your word be, a Yes, yes; a No, no; and whatever is more-than these, is from the evil one.

¹⁶ Woe to you, you blind guides, that say, Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing, but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated. ¹⁷ You are foolish and blind; for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that makes the gold holy? ¹⁸ And, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing, but whoever swears by the gift which is upon it, he is obligated. ¹⁹ You^\'b0 are foolish and blind; for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift holy? ²⁰ Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it, and by all things upon it. ²¹ And he who swears by the temple, swears by it, and in the one who has dwelt in it. ²² And he who has sworn by the heaven, swears by the throne of God, and in the one who is sitting upon it.

⁶³ But Jesus was silent. And the high-priest answered and said to him, I implore you by the living God, in order that you should tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God?
⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, You have said so. However I am saying to you, From now on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming upon the clouds of heaven.

²³ Now I myself call upon God as a witness upon my soul, that, I came to Corinth no more so sparing you.

¹⁶ For indeed, men swear according to the greater and the oath made for confirmation is an end in every dispute of theirs. ¹⁷ In which God, planning to show even-more to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable will of his plan, intermediated this with an oath;

¹² My brethren, but before all things, do not swear, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no be no; in order that you may not fall into hypocrisy.

³ And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which God had created and made.

²³ And he said to them, This is what Jehovah has spoken, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Jehovah. Bake what you* will bake and boil what you* will boil and all that remains over lay up for you* to be kept until the morning. ²⁴ And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses commanded and it did not become foul, neither was there any worm in it.
²⁵ And Moses said, Eat that today, because today is a Sabbath to Jehovah. Today you* will not find it in the field. ²⁶ Six days you* will gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath, there will be none in it.
²⁷ And it happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather and they found none. ²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do you* refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? ²⁹ See, because Jehovah has given you* the Sabbath, therefore he gives you* on the sixth day the bread of two days. Abide every man in his place. Let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. ³⁰ So the people rested on the seventh day.

¹² Six days you will do your work and on the seventh day you will rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest and the son of your handmaid and the traveler, may be refreshed.

¹³ Speak also to the sons of Israel, saying, Truly you* will keep my Sabbaths, because it is a sign between me and you* throughout your* genealogy, that you* may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies you*. ¹⁴ You* will keep the Sabbath therefore, because it is holy to you*. Everyone who profanes it will surely be put to death, because whoever does any work on it, that soul will be cut off from among his people. ¹⁵ Six days will work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he will surely be put to death. ¹⁶ Therefore the sons of Israel will keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their genealogy, for a everlasting covenant.

³ Every man will fear his mother and his father. And you* will keep my Sabbaths. I am Jehovah your* God.

³⁰ You* will keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary. I am Jehovah.

³ Six days will work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You* will do no manner of work. It is a Sabbath to Jehovah in all your* dwellings.

⁴ For Jehovah says thus of the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths and choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant: ⁵ To them I will give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, that will not be cut off.
⁶ Also the foreigners who join themselves to Jehovah, to minister to him and to love the name of Jehovah, to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it and holds fast my covenant,

²¹ Six days you will work, but on the seventh day you will rest; in plowing time and in harvest you will rest.

² Six days work will be done, but on the seventh day there will be to you* a holy day, a Sabbath of solemn rest to Jehovah. Whoever does any work in it will be put to death.

¹⁴ Now the ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, answered and said to the crowd, There are six days in which men ought to work; therefore coming in these days, be healed, and not on the day of the Sabbath.

² And God finished his work by the seventh day which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which God had created and made.

²⁷ And it happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather and they found none. ²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, How long do you* refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?

⁹ And you will not oppress a traveler, for you* know the heart of a traveler, because you* were travelers in the land of Egypt.
¹⁰ And six years you will sow your land and will gather in the increase of it, ¹¹ but the seventh year you will let it rest and lie tillable, that the poor of your people may eat and what they leave the beast of the field will eat. In like manner you will deal with your vineyard and with your olive-grove.
¹² Six days you will do your work and on the seventh day you will rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest and the son of your handmaid and the traveler, may be refreshed.

¹³ Speak also to the sons of Israel, saying, Truly you* will keep my Sabbaths, because it is a sign between me and you* throughout your* genealogy, that you* may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies you*.

³² And while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the Sabbath day. ³³ And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. ³⁴ And they put him in confinement, because it had not been declared what should be done to him. ³⁵ And Jehovah said to Moses, The man will surely be put to death. All the congregation will stone him with stones outside the camp. ³⁶ And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁴ but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Jehovah your God: you will not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maid-servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates, that your manservant and your maid-servant may rest as well as you. ¹⁵ And you will remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt and Jehovah your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm, therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

¹¹ And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are in the midst of you, in the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there, ¹² and you will remember that you were a bondman in Egypt. And you will observe and do these statutes.

¹⁴ You will not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is of your brothers, or of your travelers that are in your land within your gates. ¹⁵ You will give him his hire in his day, neither will the sun go down upon it, for he is poor and sets his heart upon it, lest he cry against you to Jehovah and it is sin to you.
¹⁶ The fathers will not be put to death for the sons, neither will the sons be put to death for the fathers. Every man will be put to death for his own sin.
¹⁷ You will not distort the justice due to the traveler, or to the fatherless, nor take the widow's garments to pledge, ¹⁸ but you will remember that you were a bondman in Egypt and Jehovah your God redeemed you from there. Therefore I command you to do this thing.
¹⁹ When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you will not go again to fetch it. It will be for the traveler, for the fatherless and for the widow, that Jehovah your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
²⁰ When you beat your olive tree, you will not go over the branches again. It will be for the traveler, for the fatherless and for the widow.
²¹ When you gather of your vineyard, you will not glean it behind you. It will be for the traveler, for the fatherless and for the widow.
²² And you will remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt. Therefore I command you to do this thing.

³¹ And if the peoples of the land bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy from them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day. And that we would forego the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.

¹⁵ In those days I saw in Judah some men treading wine-presses on the Sabbath and bringing in sheaves and loading donkeys on them, as also wine, grapes and figs and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I testified against them in the day in which they sold foods.
¹⁶ There dwelt men of Tyre also in it who brought in fish and all manner of wares and sold on the Sabbath to the sons of Judah and in Jerusalem.
¹⁷ Then I contended with the ranking men of Judah and said to them, What evil thing is this that you* do and profane the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your* fathers thus and did not our God bring all this evil upon us and upon this city? Yet you* bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath.
¹⁹ And it happened that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and commanded that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. And I set some of my servants over the gates that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day.
²⁰ So the merchants and sellers of all kind of wares lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them and said to them, Why do you* lodge outside the wall? If you* do so again, I will lay hands on you*. From that time forth they came no more on the Sabbath.

⁵⁶ Now they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they relaxed according to the commandment.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² And the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God fluttered upon the face of the waters.

²⁸ And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and have power over it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

¹⁷ It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel everlasting. For in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.

⁴ In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his. ⁵ The sea is his and he made it. And his hands formed the dry land.
⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before Jehovah our maker. ⁷ Because he is our God and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
Today, O that you* would hear his voice!

²⁷ And he said to them, The Sabbath came to be because of man and not man because of the Sabbath; ²⁸ so-then, the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.

⁷ Now on the first day of the week, the disciples having been gathered together with us to break bread, Paul was reasoning many things with them, being about to go away on the next-day, and he was prolonging the speech till midnight.

¹⁵ And he who slays his father or his mother, will surely be put to death.

¹⁷ And he who curses his father or his mother, will surely be put to death.

³² You will rise up before the hoary head and honor the face of the old man and you will fear your God. I am Jehovah.

²⁶ I call heaven and earth to witness against you* this day, that you* will soon utterly perish from the land to which you* go over the Jordan to possess it. You* will not prolong your* days upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.

⁴⁰ And you will keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you and with your sons after you and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah your God gives you, forever.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

¹⁵ A perfect and just weight you will have, a perfect and just measure you will have, that your days may be long in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

⁴⁷ For it is no vain thing for you*, because it is your* life and through this thing you* will prolong your* days in the land where you* go over the Jordan to possess it.

¹⁹ Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her and bowed himself to her and sat down on his throne and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother. And she sat on his right hand.

¹² And Elisha saw it and he cried, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen of it! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.

⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not forsake the law of your mother. ⁹ Because they will be a wreath of charm to your head and chains about your neck.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand are riches and honor.

⁵ A fool despises his father's correction, but he who regards reproof gets prudence.

²⁰ He who curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in blackness of darkness.

²² Listen to your father who fathered you and do not despise your mother because she is old.
²³ Buy the truth and do not sell it, yes, wisdom and instruction and understanding.
²⁴ The father of a righteous man will greatly rejoice and he who begets a wise son will have joy of him. ²⁵ Let your father and your mother be glad and let her who bore you rejoice.

²⁴ He who robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a destroyer.

¹¹ There is a generation who curses their father and does not praise their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley will pick it out and the young eagles will eat it.

⁶ A son honors his father and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says Jehovah of hosts to you*, O priests, who despise my name. And you* say, How have we despised your name?

⁴ For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘He who is speaking evil of their father or mother, let him be ended by the sentence of death.’ ⁵ But you say, Whoever says to his father or his mother, in whatever you might have been profited from me, it is a gift to God, ⁶ and then should never honor his father and mother, and thus you invalidated the commandment of God because of your tradition.

¹⁹ Honor your father and mother.

¹⁰ For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘He who is speaking evil of father or mother, let him be ended by the sentence of death.’

¹⁹ You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not falsely testify. Do not defraud. Honor your father and mother.’

²⁰ You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not falsely testify. Honor your father and your mother.’

²¹ being subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

¹ The children, obey^*\'b0 your parents in the Lord; for this is righteous. ² Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment in the promise), ³ in order that it may become well with you, and you may be upon the earth a long time.

²⁰ The children: obey^*\'b0 the parents according to all things, for this is well pleasing in the Lord.

⁸ And Cain told Abel his brother. And it happened, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. ⁹ And Jehovah said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?
¹⁰ And he said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. ¹² When you till the ground, it will not again yield to you its strength. You will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.
¹³ And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear. ¹⁴ Behold, you have driven me out this day from the face of the ground and I will be hid from your face and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer in the earth. And it will happen, that whoever finds me will kill me. ¹⁵ And Jehovah said to him, Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, so that anyone who found him should not kill* him.
¹⁶ And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. ¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife and she conceived and bore Enoch. And Cain built a city and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.
¹⁸ And Irad was born to Enoch and Irad fathered Mehujael and Mehujael fathered Methushael and Methushael fathered Lamech.
¹⁹ And Lamech took to him two wives. The name of the one was Adah and the name of the other was Zillah. ²⁰ And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have cattle. ²¹ And his brother's name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who handle the harp and pipe. ²² And Zillah, she also bore Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron. And the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
²³ And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, you*, the wives of Lamech, listen to my speech. For I have killed a man for wounding me and a young man for bruising me.

⁵ And surely I will require your* blood, the blood of your* lives. I will require it at the hand of every beast. And I will require the life of man at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother. ⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood will be shed by man. For in the image of God he made man.

¹⁴ And if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbor, to kill him with guile, you will take him from my altar, that he may die.

²⁰ And if a man slays his servant, or his maid, with a rod and he dies under his hand, he will surely be punished.

²⁹ But if the ox was accustomed to gore in time past and it has been testified to its owner and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the ox will be stoned and its owner will also be put to death.

²¹ And he who kills a beast will make it good. And he who kills a man will be put to death.

¹⁶ But if he killed* him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he killed* him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death. ¹⁸ Or if he killed* him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death.
¹⁹ The avenger of blood will himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he will put him to death. ²⁰ And if he thrust him from hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died, ²¹ or in enmity killed* him with his hand, so that he died, he who killed* him will surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood will put the murderer to death, when he meets him.
²² But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or hurled upon him anything without lying in wait, ²³ or with any stone, by which a man may die, not seeing him and cast it upon him, so that he died and he was not his enemy, nor sought his harm, ²⁴ then the congregation will judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances.
²⁵ And the congregation will deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood and the congregation will restore him to his city of refuge where he fled. And he will dwell in it until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
²⁶ But if the manslayer will at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge where he flees, ²⁷ and the avenger of blood find him outside the border of his city of refuge and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he will not be guilty of blood, ²⁸ because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the manslayer will return into the land of his possession.
²⁹ And these things will be for a statute and ordinance to you* throughout your* genealogy in all your* dwellings.
³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer will be slain at the mouth of witnesses, but one witness will not testify against any person so that he dies. ³¹ Moreover you* will take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he will surely be put to death. ³² And you* will take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
³³ So you* will not pollute the land in which you* are, for blood, it pollutes the land. And no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him who shed it. ³⁴ And you will not defile the land which you* inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, Jehovah, dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel.

¹⁷ You will not murder.

¹¹ But if any man hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and slays him mortally so that he dies and he flees into one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city will send and fetch him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
¹³ Your eye will not pity him, but you will put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

⁹ Why have you despised the word of Jehovah, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.
¹⁰ Now therefore the sword will not depart (everlasting and forever) from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.

¹⁶ Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides his sin with which he made Judah to sin in doing what was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

²² Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah look upon it and require it.

⁸ He sits in the lurking-places of the villages. He murders the innocent man in the covert places. His eyes are secretly set against the poor man. ⁹ He lurks in secret as a lion in his covering. He lies in wait to catch the poor man. He catches the poor man when he draws him in his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, he bows down and helpless men fall by his strong men.
¹¹ He says in his heart, God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us. Let us lay wait for blood. Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.

¹⁸ and these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.

²¹ For, behold, Jehovah comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood and will no more cover her slain.

¹⁵ Only know for certain that, if you* put me to death, you* will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon the inhabitants of it. For of a truth Jehovah has sent me to you* to speak all these words in your* ears.

²¹ You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not murder,' but ‘whoever murders will be liable to the judgment.’ ²² But I say to you, that everyone who is vainly angry to ward his brother will be liable to the judgment, and whoever says to his brother, You, empty-head, will be liable to the council, but whoever says, You fool, will be liable to the hell of fire.
{Vainly can be: with emptiness (without cause or reason; i.e. to further one's own vanity)}

{Empty-head is an expression of contempt. The Greek here could be simply ‘fool’said as an expression of condemnation or could be a transliteration of ‘Moreh’which is a Hebrew expression of condemnation. In Mat 5:22 the wording doesn’t matter; it’s the way it is said or meant.}

¹⁸ He says to him, What ones?
Now Jesus said, Do not murder; Do not commit adultery; Do not steal; Do not falsely testify,

⁴ Now as the barbarians saw the snake hanging from his hand, they were saying to one another, This man is certainly a murderer, whom, having been saved out of the sea, justice did not permit him to live.

⁹ For the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery; Do not murder; Do not steal; Do not covet, and if there is some other commandment in this word, it is summed up in the commandment : ‘You will love your neighbor like yourself.’

²¹ envies, murders, drunkenness, revelings and things similar to these things; which I am telling to you beforehand, also just-as I foretold to you, that those who are practicing such things–they will not be inheriting the kingdom of God!

⁹ knowing this: that law is not laid down for the righteous, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for killers of their fathers and killers of their mothers, for murderers,

¹¹ For he who said, 'Do not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' But if you will not commit adultery, but yet you will commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

¹³ For the judgment is merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy; mercy wins over judgment.

¹² not like Cain who was from the evil one and slaughtered his brother. And he slaughtered him because of what? Because his works were evil but the works of his brother were righteous.
¹³ Do not marvel my brethren, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have stepped out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother is abiding in death. ¹⁵ Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer and you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him.

²⁰ And you will not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

¹⁰ And the man who commits adultery with another man's wife, even he who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress will surely be put to death.

¹⁸ Neither will you commit adultery.

⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came in to him and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness) and she returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived. And she sent and told David and said, I am with child.

²⁷ And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Jehovah.

¹⁵ who are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths, ¹⁶ to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreign woman who flatters with her words, ¹⁷ who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God ¹⁸ (because her house inclines to death and her paths to the dead;

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the stranger's tongue.
²⁵ Do not desire after her beauty in your heart, nor let her take you with her eyelids. ²⁶ A man comes to the last piece of bread because of the price of a prostitute, but the adulteress hunts for the precious life.
²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Or can a man walk upon hot coals and his feet not be scorched?
²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished. ³⁰ Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself because he is hungry. ³¹ Yet if he is found, he will restore sevenfold. He will give all the substance of his house.
³² He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who would destroy his own soul does it. ³³ He will get wounds and dishonor and his reproach will not be wiped away.

¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning. Let us solace ourselves with love. ¹⁹ Because the man is not at home. He has gone a long journey. ²⁰ He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon.
²¹ She causes him to yield with her much fair speech. She forces him along with the flattering of her lips.
²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare. And he does not know that it is for his life. ²⁴ Now therefore, you* sons, listen to me and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart decline to her ways. Do not go-astray in her paths. ²⁶ Because she has cast down many wounded. Yes, all her slain are a mighty host.
²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.

⁸ They were as fed horses roaming at large; everyone neighed after his neighbor's wife.
⁹ Shall I not visit for these things? says Jehovah. And will not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

²² And of them will be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire, ²³ because they have done senselessness in Israel and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I did not command them. And I am he who knows and am witness, says Jehovah.

⁵ And I will come near to you* to judgment and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against the false swearers and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the fatherless and who turn aside the traveler and do not fear me, says Jehovah of hosts.

²⁷ You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ ²⁸ But I say to you, that everyone who is looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹¹ And he says to them, Whoever divorces his wife and should marry another is committing adultery against her; ¹² and if a woman divorces her husband and should marry another, she is committing adultery.

² For the woman in wedlock has been bound by the law to the living husband, but if the husband dies, she has been done-away-with from the law of the husband. ³ Therefore consequently, if the husband is living, if she becomes joined to a different man, she will be divinely-called, an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, she is not an adulteress, even if she had become joined to a different man.

³ But do not let fornication and all uncleanness or greed even be named among you, as is suitable to holy-ones; ⁴ and do not let obscenity, and foolish-talk or petty jesting, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving. ⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor greedy person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.

⁴ Let marriage be honored among all and let the marriage-bed be undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will be judging.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and sinners and detestable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and to all the false witnesses, their part will be in the lake which is burning with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹⁶ And he who steals a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he will surely be put to death.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ² If a soul sins and commits a trespass against Jehovah and deals falsely with his neighbor in a matter of deposit, or of bargain, or of robbery, or has oppressed his neighbor, ³ or has found what was lost and deals falsely by it and swears to a lie, in any of all these things that a man does, sinning by it, ⁴ then it will be, if he has sinned and is guilty, that he will restore what he took by robbery, or the thing which he has gotten by oppression, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost thing which he found, ⁵ or anything about which he has sworn falsely, he will even restore it in full and will add the fifth part more to it. He will give it to him to whom it pertains, in the day of his being found guilty. ⁶ And he will bring his trespass offering to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the flock, according to your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest. ⁷ And the priest will make atonement for him before Jehovah and he will be forgiven concerning whatever he does so as to be guilty by it.

¹¹ You* will not steal, nor will you* deal falsely, nor lie one to another.

¹³ You will not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant will not abide with you all night until the morning.

³⁵ You* will do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, of weight, or of quantity. ³⁶ You* will have just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Jehovah your* God, who brought you* out of the land of Egypt.
³⁷ And you* will observe all my statutes and all my ordinances and do them. I am Jehovah.

⁷ If a man is found stealing any of his brothers of the sons of Israel and he deals with him harshly, or sells him, then that thief will die. So will you put away the evil from the midst of you.

¹³ You will not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small. ¹⁴ You will not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small. ¹⁵ A perfect and just weight you will have, a perfect and just measure you will have, that your days may be long in the land which Jehovah your God gives you. ¹⁶ For all who do such things, even all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Jehovah your God.

¹⁹ For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house and he will not build it up. ²⁰ Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save any of that in which he delights. ²¹ There was nothing left that he did not devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he will be in straits. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come upon him.

¹³ We will find all precious substance. We will fill our houses with spoil. ¹⁴ You will cast your lot among us. We will all have one bag.
¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them. Restrain your foot from their path.

¹ A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah, but a just weight is his delight.

¹⁰ For they do not know to do right, says Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

⁴ Hear this, O you* who would swallow up a needy man and cause the poor of the land to fail, ⁵ saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small and the shekel great and dealing falsely with balances of deceit, ⁶ that we may buy the poor for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes and sell the refuse of the wheat?

¹⁰ Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and a scant measure that is indignant? ¹¹ Shall I be pure with wicked balances and with a bag of deceitful weights?

³ Their hands are upon what is evil to do it diligently. The ruler asks and the judge asks for a bribe. And the great man, he utters the evil desire of his soul. Thus they weave it together.

³ Then he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals will be cut off on the one side according to it and everyone who swears will be cut off on the other side according to it. ⁴ I will cause it to go forth, says Jehovah of hosts and it will enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it will abide in the midst of his house and will consume it, with the timber of it and the stones of it.

¹⁹ For out of the heart comes forth evil reasonings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.

¹³ and he says to them, It has been written, My house will be called a house of prayer, but you made it a den of robbers.

¹³ Now he said to them, Appropriate no more than what has been appointed for you.
¹⁴ But the active soldiers were also asking him, saying, And we, what shall we do?
And he said to them, Intimidate no one, nor cheat anyone, and be content with your rations.

⁶ Now this he said, not because he was caring concerning the poor, but because he was a thief and had the box and was bearing what was put in it.

¹⁰ nor the greedy ones, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will be inheriting the kingdom of God.

²⁸ Let the one who steals, steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working at what is the good thing with his hands, in order that he may have something to give to the one who has need.

⁶ and not to go beyond limits and takes-advantage of his brother in the matter, because the Lord is an avenger concerning all these things, just-as we have also spoken to you beforehand and thoroughly testified.

¹ You will not take up a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked man to be an unrighteous witness.

⁶ You will not distort the justice due to your poor in his case.
⁷ Keep far from a false matter. And do not kill an innocent and righteous man, because I will not justify a wicked man.

¹⁶ You will not go up and down as a gossiper among your people, neither will you stand against the blood of your neighbor. I am Jehovah.

¹⁵ One witness will not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, will a matter be established.
¹⁶ If an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrong-doing, ¹⁷ then both the men, between whom the controversy is, will stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges that will be in those days,
¹⁸ and the judges will make diligent inquiry. And behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹ then you* will do to him, as he had thought to do to his brother. So will you put away the evil from the midst of you.
²⁰ And those who remain will hear and fear and will hereafter commit no more any such evil in the midst of you. ²¹ And your eyes will not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

⁸ that all of you* have conspired against me and there is none who discloses to me when my son makes a league with the son of Jesse? And there is none of you* who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day.
⁹ Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. ¹⁰ And he inquired of Jehovah for him and gave him food and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine. ¹¹ Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub and all his father's house, the priests who were in Nob. And they came to the king, all of them.
¹² And Saul said, Hear now, you son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. ¹³ And Saul said to him, Why have you* conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me to lie in wait as at this day?
¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law and is taken into your council and is honorable in your house? ¹⁵ Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me. Do not let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father, for your servant knows nothing of all this, less or more.
¹⁶ And the king said, You will surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father's house. ¹⁷ And the king said to the guard who stood about him, Turn and kill the priests of Jehovah, because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he fled and did not disclose it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of Jehovah.
¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, Turn and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned and he fell upon the priests and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore a linen ephod. ¹⁹ And Nob, the city of the priests, he killed* with the edge of the sword, both men and women, sons and nursing-babes and oxen and donkeys and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁰ And set two men, worthless fellows, before him and let them bear witness against him, saying, You cursed God and the king. And then carry him out and stone him to death.
¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, just-as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast and set Naboth on high among the people.
¹³ And the two men, the worthless fellows, came in and sat before him. And the worthless fellows bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth cursed God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city and stoned him to death with stones.

³ he who does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor,

⁵ He who slanders his neighbor secretly, I will destroy him. He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not endure.
⁶ My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me.
⁷ He who works deceit will not dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood will not be established before my eyes.

¹⁸ He who hides hatred is from lying lips. And he who utters a slander is a fool.

¹³ He who goes around as a gossiper reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

⁵ A false witness will not be unpunished and he who breathes-out lies will not escape.

⁵⁹ Now the high-priests and the elders and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus, how they might slay him; ⁶⁰ and they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came. Still, they did not find any.

¹³ And false witnesses stood up, who said, This man is not ceasing to speak blasphemous declarations against this holy place and the law;

³¹ Let all bitterness and fury and anger and outcrying and blasphemy, together with all malice, be taken away from you;

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers and if any other thing which lays in opposition to sound teaching;

³ cold-hearted, implacable, slanderers, with no self-control, untamed, not lovers of good,

¹¹ Brethren do not speak against one another. He who is speaking against a brother and is judging his brother, is speaking against the law and is judging the law. Now if you are judging the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her and he ate.

²³ that I will not take a thread nor a shoe latchet nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich,

²³ Shall not their cattle and their substance and all their beasts be ours? Only let us consent to them and they will dwell with us.

²¹ When I saw among the spoil a pleasant Babylonian mantle and two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I desired them and took them. And behold, they are hid in the ground in the midst of my tent and the silver under it.

¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah, but did fly upon the spoil and did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah?

² And it happened at evening, that David arose from his bed and walked upon the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. ³ And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came in to him and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness) and she returned to her house.

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes. How then should I look upon a virgin?

⁹ If my heart has been enticed to a woman and I have laid wait at my neighbor's door,

³ Because the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. And the greedy man renounces, yes, despises Jehovah.

³⁶ Incline my heart to your testimonies and not to covetousness.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence, because out of it are the things of life.

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the stranger's tongue.
²⁵ Do not desire after her beauty in your heart, nor let her take you with her eyelids.

⁸ There is one man who is alone and he has not a second, yes, he has neither son nor brother. Yet there is no end of all his labor, nor are his eyes satisfied with riches. And he says, whom then do I labor and deprive my soul of good? This also is vanity, yes, it is a great task.

¹⁰ He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver, nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity. ¹¹ When goods increase, they are increased who eat them. And what advantage is there to the owner of it, except the beholding of them with his eyes?

¹⁵ He who walks righteously and speaks in uprightness. He who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes away his hands from taking a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood and shuts his eyes from looking upon evil.

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and killed* him. I hid my face and was angry and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

⁸ They were as fed horses roaming at large; everyone neighed after his neighbor's wife.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness and for shedding innocent blood and for oppression and for violence, to do it.

³¹ And they come to you as the people come and they sit before you as my people. And they hear your words, but do not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.

⁶ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes– ⁷ those who pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go to the same maiden, to profane my holy name.

² And they desire fields and seize them and houses and take them away. And they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

⁹ Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

²⁸ But I say to you, that everyone who is looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹⁵ Or is it not legal for me to do what I will in the things which are mine? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?

¹⁵ Now he said to them, See and guard yourselves from greed, because not to anyone is his life in the abundance of his possessions.

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who are money-lovers, were also hearing all these things, and they were ridiculing him.

⁴ When it remained unsold, was it not remaining yours? And when it was sold, was it not still in your authority? Why did you purpose this matter in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.

³³ I coveted no one’s silver or gold or garment.

⁷ Therefore what shall we say? Is the law sin? Let it not happen! But, I did not know sin, except through the law; for I also did not know coveting.

³ But do not let fornication and all uncleanness or greed even be named among you, as is suitable to holy-ones;

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and greed, which is idolatry.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is a great method to earnings; ⁷ for we brought nothing into the world, nor it is evident that we are able to carry anything out; ⁸ but we will be content with these things, having nourishment and clothes. ⁹ But those who are planning to be rich are falling into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, which are submerging men into utter-destruction and everlasting destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils; of which some aspiring to, have been misled from the faith and they themselves are staked-through by many sorrows.

⁵ In the manner of life, not being a money-lover, be content with the things which are present; for he himself has said, I may never be lax concerning you, nor should I ever forsake you.

¹⁶ And it happened on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mountain and the voice of an exceedingly loud trumpet. And all the people who were in the camp trembled.
¹⁷ And Moses brought out the people out of the camp to meet God and they stood at the lower part of the mountain. ¹⁸ And Mount Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fire and the smoke of it ascended as the smoke of a furnace. And the whole mountain quaked greatly.

⁷ Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
⁸ If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there.

²³ Am I a God at hand, says Jehovah and not a God afar off?

¹⁸ For you have not come to a mountain which has been touched and burned with fire and to blackness and to darkness and to whirlwind, ¹⁹ and to the noise of a trumpet and to the voice of declarations; which voice those who heard renounced, asking the word not to be added to them.

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, for, I have seen God face to face and my life is preserved.

²⁰ And he said, You cannot see my face, because man will not see me and live.

⁵ (I stood between Jehovah and you* at that time, to show you* the word of Jehovah, for you* were afraid because of the fire and did not go up onto the mountain), saying,

²³ And it happened, when you* heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you* came near to me, even all the heads of your* tribes and your* elders. ²⁴ And you* said, Behold, Jehovah our God has shown us his glory and his greatness and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man and he lives.
²⁵ Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more, then we will die. ²⁶ For who is there of all flesh, who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have and lived? ²⁷ Go near and hear all that Jehovah our God will say. And speak to us all that Jehovah our God will speak to you and we will hear it and do it.

¹⁶ according to all that you desired of Jehovah your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Do not let me hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.

¹⁹ Therefore why was the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed would come to whom it has been promised; having been appointed through messengers by the hand of an intermediary.

¹⁹ and to the noise of a trumpet and to the voice of declarations; which voice those who heard renounced, asking the word not to be added to them.

¹¹ And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place and they will kill me because of my wife.

¹ And it happened after these things, that God proved Abraham and said to him, Abraham. And he said, Behold, here I am.

¹² And he said, Do not lay your hand upon the lad, neither do you anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

²⁵ And he cried to Jehovah. And Jehovah showed him a tree and he cast it into the waters and the waters were made sweet. There he made for them a statute and an ordinance and there he proved them.
²⁶ And he said, If you will diligently listen to the voice of Jehovah your God and will do what is right in his eyes and will listen to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you, which I have put upon the Egyptians, because I am Jehovah who heals you.

¹⁰ the day that you stood before Jehovah your God in Horeb, when Jehovah said to me, Assemble the people to me and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live upon the earth and that they may teach their sons.

² that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you and your son and your son's son, all the days of your life and that your days may be prolonged.

² And you will remember all the way which Jehovah your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

¹² And now, Israel, what does Jehovah your God require of you, but to fear Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

³ you will not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams, for Jehovah your* God proves you*, to know whether you* love Jehovah your* God with all your* heart and with all your* soul.

¹⁴ Now therefore fear Jehovah and serve him in sincerity and in truth. And put away the gods which your* fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt and serve you* Jehovah.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, Do not fear. You* have indeed done all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following Jehovah, but serve Jehovah with all your* heart.

¹⁵ But the former governors who were before me charged the people and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not so, because of the fear of God.

²⁸ And to man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding.

⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge. The foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear Jehovah and depart from evil.

⁶ Iniquity is atoned for by mercy and truth and men depart from evil by the fear of Jehovah.

¹³ Jehovah of hosts, him you* will sanctify and let him be your* fear and let him be your* dread.

¹⁰ Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

²⁵ Beware that you do not renounce the one who speaks. For if those men did not flee when they renounced the one who divinely-warned them upon the earth, much more we may not flee who are turning away from him, who is from the heavens; ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth. But now he has promised, saying, ‘Still once for all, I do not only shake the earth, but also the heaven.’

³ You will have no other gods before me.
⁴ You will not make to you a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ You will not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them, because I, Jehovah your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who hate me,

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, Up, make gods for us, which will go before us. For as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.
² And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your* wives, of your* sons and of your* daughters and bring them to me. ³ And all the people broke off the golden rings which were in their ears and brought them to Aaron.
⁴ And he received it at their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it a molten calf. And they said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ And Moses returned to Jehovah and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin and have made gods of gold for them.

⁴ And when they arose early on the morning of the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands lay cut off upon the threshold. Only the stump of Dagon was left to him. ⁵ Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any who come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod, to this day.

³³ They were afraid of Jehovah and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

³⁹ As for you*, O house of Israel, thus says the lord Jehovah: Go you*. Serve each one his idols and hereafter also, if you* will not listen to me. But you* will no more profane my holy name with your* gifts and with your* idols.

⁸ in their setting of their threshold by my threshold and their door-post beside my door-post and there was but the wall between me and them. And they have defiled my holy name by their abominations which they have committed. Therefore I have consumed them in my anger.

⁴ They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood and of stone.

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor know. And the God in whose hand your breath is and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.

⁵ and those who worship the host of heaven upon the housetops and those who worship, who swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam,

²¹ You are not able to drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You are not able to partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons. ²² Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? We are not mightier than him, are we?

¹⁴ Do not become unequally yoked with unbelieving ones; for what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with unbelieving ones? ¹⁶ And what alliance has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God; just-as God said, ‘I will be dwelling among them and will be walking among them, and I will be their God and they will be a people to me.’

¹⁸ Let no one arbitrate against you, willing it so in your humility and in a religion of the messengers; stepping you^\'b0 further into the things which he has not seen, being vainly arrogant by his fleshly mind, ¹⁹ and not holding-fast to the head, from whom all the body is being supplied and knitted together through the joints and ligaments, which is growing with the growth of God.

¹⁵ The dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices a lie are outside.

² And I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great and you will be a blessing.

¹ And Jehovah called to Moses and spoke to him out of the tent of meeting, saying, ² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, When any man of you* offers an oblation to Jehovah, you* will offer your* oblation of the cattle, even of the herd and of the flock.
³ If his oblation be a burnt offering of the herd, he will offer it a male without blemish. He will offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before Jehovah. ⁴ And he will lay his hand upon the head of the burnt offering and it will be accepted for him to make atonement for him. ⁵ And he will kill the bullock before Jehovah and Aaron's sons, the priests, will present the blood and sprinkle the blood all around upon the altar that is at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁶ And he will skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. ⁷ And the sons of Aaron the priest will put fire upon the altar and lay wood in order upon the fire. ⁸ And Aaron's sons, the priests, will lay the pieces, the head and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar, ⁹ but its innards and its legs he will wash with water. And the priest will burn the whole on the altar, for a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah.
¹⁰ And if his oblation be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt offering, he will offer it a male without blemish. ¹¹ And he will kill it on the side of the altar northward before Jehovah and Aaron's sons, the priests, will sprinkle its blood upon the altar all around. ¹² And he will cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat and the priest will lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar, ¹³ but the innards and the legs he will wash with water. And the priest will offer the whole and burn it upon the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah.
¹⁴ And if his oblation to Jehovah be a burnt offering of birds, then he will offer his oblation of turtle-doves, or of young pigeons. ¹⁵ And the priest will bring it to the altar and wring off its head and burn it on the altar. And the blood of it will be drained out on the side of the altar. ¹⁶ And he will take away its crop with the filth of it and cast it beside the altar on the east part, in the place of the ashes. ¹⁷ And he will tear it by the wings of it, but will not divide it apart and the priest will burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah.

¹ And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offerings, if he offer of the herd, whether male or female, he will offer it without blemish before Jehovah. ² And he will lay his hand upon the head of his oblation and kill it at the door of the tent of meeting. And Aaron's sons the priests will sprinkle the blood upon the altar all around. ³ And he will offer of the sacrifice of peace offerings an offering made by fire to Jehovah, he will take away the fat that covers the innards and all the fat that is upon the innards, ⁴ and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins and the lobe of the liver, with the kidneys. ⁵ And Aaron's sons will burn it on the altar upon the burnt offering, which is upon the wood that is on the fire. It is an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah.
⁶ And if his oblation for a sacrifice of peace offerings to Jehovah be of the flock, male or female, he will offer it without blemish. ⁷ If he offers a lamb for his oblation, then he will offer it before Jehovah. ⁸ And he will lay his hand upon the head of his oblation and kill it before the tent of meeting. And Aaron's sons will sprinkle the blood of it upon the altar all around. ⁹ And he will offer of the sacrifice of peace offerings an offering made by fire to Jehovah. The fat of it, the entire fat tail, he will take away close by the backbone. And he will take away the fat that covers the innards and all the fat that is upon the innards, ¹⁰ and the two kidneys and the fat that is upon them, which is by the loins and the lobe of the liver, with the kidneys. ¹¹ And the priest will burn it upon the altar. It is the food of the offering made by fire to Jehovah.
¹² And if his oblation be a goat, then he will offer it before Jehovah. ¹³ And he will lay his hand upon the head of it and kill it before the tent of meeting. And the sons of Aaron will sprinkle the blood of it upon the altar all around. ¹⁴ And he will offer his oblation from it, even an offering made by fire to Jehovah. He will take away the fat that covers the innards and all the fat that is upon the innards, ¹⁵ and the two kidneys and the fat that is upon them, which is by the loins and the lobe of the liver, with the kidneys. ¹⁶ And the priest will burn them upon the altar. It is the food of the offering made by fire, for a sweet aroma. All the fat is Jehovah's. ¹⁷ It will be a everlasting statute throughout your* genealogy in all your* dwellings, that you* will eat neither fat nor blood.

²⁴ Jehovah bless you and keep you. ²⁵ Jehovah make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. ²⁶ Jehovah lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. ²⁷ So will they put my name upon the sons of Israel and I will bless them.

¹³ And he will love you and bless you and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you.

⁵ But to the place which Jehovah your* God will choose out of all your* tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation you* will seek and there you will come.

¹¹ then it will happen that to the place which Jehovah your* God will choose to cause his name to dwell there, there you* will bring all that I command you*: your* burnt offerings and your* sacrifices, your* tithes and the heave offering of your* hand and all your* choice vows which you* vow to Jehovah.

²¹ If the place which Jehovah your God will choose, to put his name there, be too far from you, then you will kill of your herd and of your flock, which Jehovah has given you, as I have commanded you and you may eat within your gates, according to all the desire of your soul.

²³ And you will eat before Jehovah your God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine and of your oil and the first-offspring of your herd and of your flock, that you may learn to fear Jehovah your God always.

⁵ You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates, which Jehovah your God gives you, ⁶ but at the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell in, there you will sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came forth out of Egypt.

¹¹ And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are in the midst of you, in the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there,

² that you will take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you will bring in from your land that Jehovah your God gives you and you will put it in a basket and will go to the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there.

¹² And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with joy.

²⁹ that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place whereof you have said, My name will be there, to listen to the prayer which your servant will pray toward this place.

⁴³ hear you in heaven your dwelling-place and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for, that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as does your people Israel and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

³ And Jehovah said to him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there until everlasting. And my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem that my name might be there. And have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

¹⁶ For now I have chosen and made this house holy, that my name may be there until everlasting and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

¹³ So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. For Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

¹² And the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who will put forth their hand to alter the same, to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree, let it be done with all diligence.

⁹ but if you* return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your* outcasts were in the outermost part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there and will bring them to the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there.

⁷ They have set your sanctuary on fire. They have profaned the dwelling-place of your name to the ground.

² His covering is in Salem also and his dwelling-place in Zion.

⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which he loved.

⁵ Jehovah bless you out of Zion and see you the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

¹³ Because Jehovah has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation. ¹⁴ This is my resting place forever. I will dwell here, for I have desired it.

³ Jehovah bless you out of Zion, even he who made heaven and earth.

¹⁰ and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name and say, We are delivered, that you* may do all these abominations?
¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your* eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Jehovah.
¹² But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, my name is great among the Gentiles. And in every place incense is offered to my name and a pure offering. For my name is great among the Gentiles, says Jehovah of hosts.

²⁰ For where two or three have been gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, as many things as I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the earth.
Amen.

²⁰ Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say, that in Jerusalem is the place where it is essential to worship.
²¹ Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming, when you will be worshiping the Father, neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem. ²² You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers will be worshiping the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father also is seeking such who are worshiping him. ²⁴ God is a Spirit, and it is essential for those who are worshiping him to worship in spirit and truth.

⁸ Therefore I will that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and evil reasoning.

⁵ And there you will build an altar to Jehovah your God, an altar of stones. You will lift up no iron upon them. ⁶ You will build the altar of Jehovah your God of unhewn stones. And you will offer burnt offerings on it to Jehovah your God.

³¹ as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded the sons of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones, upon which no man had lifted up any iron. And they offered burnt offerings on it to Jehovah and sacrificed peace offerings.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, This is it that Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be made holy by those who come near me. And I will be glorified before all the people. And Aaron remained silent.

⁷ a God very awesome in the council of the holy ones and to be feared above all those who are all around him?

¹ Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, for to draw near to hear is better than to give the sacrifice of fools. For they do not know that they do evil.

²⁸ Hence, receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us have gratitude, through which we give-divine service in ways well pleasing to God, with reverence and piety; ²⁹ for our God is also a consuming fire.

¹⁶ because it has been written, ‘Become holy, because I am holy.’
