⁶ And he made a mercy-seat of pure gold, two cubits and a half the length of it and a cubit and a half the breadth of it.

¹⁷ And you will make a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half the length of it and a cubit and a half the breadth of it. ¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; of beaten work will you make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat. ¹⁹ And make one cherub at the one end and one cherub at the other end; of one piece with the mercy-seat you* will make the cherubim on the two ends of it. ²⁰ And the cherubim will spread out their wings on high, covering the mercy-seat with their wings, with their faces one to another; the faces of the cherubim will be toward the mercy-seat.
²¹ And you will put the mercy-seat above upon the ark. And in the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. ²² And there I will meet with you. And I will speak with you from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment to the sons of Israel.

¹² And he will take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before Jehovah and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small and bring it within the veil. ¹³ And he will put the incense upon the fire before Jehovah, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he not die. ¹⁴ And he will take of the blood of the bullock and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east. And he will sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times before the mercy-seat.
¹⁵ Then he will kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people and bring his blood within the veil and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat and before the mercy-seat.

¹¹ Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch of the temple and of the houses of it and of the treasuries of it and of the upper rooms of it and of the inner chambers of it and of the place of the mercy-seat,

²⁵ whom God purposed as an atonement through the faith in his blood in an example of his righteousness, because of the passing over of the sins, having been done beforehand,

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born out of a woman, born under the law,

¹⁴ who gave himself on our behalf, in order that he might redeem us away from all lawlessness and might cleanse a treasured people for himself, zealous of good works.

⁵ and up above it the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy-seat; concerning which things it is now not the time to speak of them individually.

² And he is the atonement concerning our sins, but not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world.
