⁷ And Jehovah God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

¹⁹ You will eat bread by the sweat of your face, till you return to the ground, because out of it you were taken. For you are dust and you will return to dust.

²³ therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to work the ground from where he was taken.

²² All died in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land.

²² And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and will you be angry with all the congregation?

¹⁶ Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

¹⁹ How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!

³ (For my life is yet whole in me. And the spirit of God is in my nostrils.)

⁴ The Spirit of God has made me and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

⁶ Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I also am formed out of the clay.

³ Know that Jehovah, he is God. It is he who has made us and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

¹⁴ Because he knows our frame. He remembers that we are dust.

¹⁴ I will give thanks to you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works and that my soul knows right well.
¹⁵ My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, curiously worked in the lowest parts of the earth.

²⁷ The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, searching all his innermost parts.

⁷ a time to tear and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,

²⁰ All go to one place. All are from the dust and all turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward and the spirit of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth?

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

²² Cease you* from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for how is he to be accounted of?

⁸ But now, O Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter and we are all the work of your hand.

Jehovah says thus, who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him:

²² And after having said this, he infused them and says to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

²⁵ nor is he assisted by men’s hands, as if needy of anything, he is giving to all, life and breath in all things.

²⁰ But-rather, O man, who are you who answers back against God? The molded thing will not say to the one who molded it, why did you make me so, will it?

⁴⁵ So also it has been written, ‘The first man Adam became a living soul.’The last Adam is giving-life for our spirit.

⁴⁷ The first man is out of the earth, the terrestrial; the second man, the Lord, is out of heaven.

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, in order that the excellence of the power may be from God and not from us.

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle should be torn-down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, everlasting in the heavens.

⁹ Thereafter, we have indeed had the fathers of our flesh as correctors of us, and we were revering them. Will we not much rather be made subject to the Father of spirits and we will live?
