¹ Send you* the lambs for the ruler of the land from Selah to the wilderness, to the mountain of the daughter of Zion. ² For it will be that, as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so will the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon.
³ Give counsel, execute justice, make your shade as the night in the midst of the noonday. Hide the outcasts. Do not betray the fugitive. ⁴ Let my outcasts dwell with you. As for Moab, be a covert to him from the face of the destroyer. For the extortioner is brought to nothing. Destruction ceases. The oppressors are consumed out of the land.
⁵ And a throne will be established in loving kindness and he will sit on it in truth, in the tent of David, judging and seeking justice and swift to do righteousness.
⁶ We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud, even of his arrogance and his pride and his wrath. His boastings are nothing. ⁷ Therefore Moab will wail for Moab, everyone will wail. You* will mourn for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth, utterly stricken. ⁸ For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah. The lords of the nations have broken down the choice branches of it, which reached even to Jazer, which wandered into the wilderness. Its shoots were spread abroad. They passed over the sea.
⁹ Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah. I will water you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh. For upon your summer fruits and upon your harvest the battle shout has fallen. ¹⁰ And gladness is taken away and joy out of the fruitful field. And there will be no singing nor joyful noise in the vineyards. No treader will tread out wine in the presses. I have made the vintage shout to cease.
¹¹ Therefore my heart roars like a harp for Moab and my inward parts for Kir-heres. ¹² And it will happen, when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself upon the high place and will come to his sanctuary to pray, that he will not prevail.
¹³ This is the word that Jehovah spoke concerning Moab in time past. ¹⁴ But now Jehovah has spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab will be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude. And the remnant will be very small and of no account.

² And he killed* Moab and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground. And he measured two lines to put to death and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

⁴ Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder. And he rendered to the King of Israel the wool of a hundred thousand lambs and of a hundred thousand rams.

⁷ He killed ten thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by war and called the name of it Joktheel, to this day.

¹⁷ Therefore you will with all diligence buy with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meal offerings and their drink offerings and will offer them upon the altar of the house of your* God which is in Jerusalem.

³² This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

¹¹ Let the wilderness and the cities of it lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing. Let them shout from the top of the mountains.

⁸ And you, O tower of the flock, the hill of the daughter of Zion, to you it will come. Yes, the former dominion will come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.

¹³ From there they journeyed and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites, for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. ¹⁴ Therefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Jehovah, Waheb in Suphah and the valleys of the Arnon, ¹⁵ and the slope of the valleys that inclines toward the dwelling of Ar and leans upon the border of Moab.

³⁶ From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and from the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. Jehovah our God delivered up all before us.

⁸ And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon

¹² And we took this land in possession at that time. From Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities of it, I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

¹⁶ And their border was from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and the city that is in the middle of the valley and all the plain by Medeba;

¹⁸ Then they went through the wilderness and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and came by the east side of the land of Moab. And they encamped on the other side of the Arnon, but they did not come within the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.

⁸ As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his place.

¹⁴ And it will happen, that as the chased roe and as sheep that no man gathers, they will turn every man to his own people and will flee every man to his own land.

²⁰ Moab is put to shame, for it is broken down. Wail and cry, tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

¹⁵ And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you* anoint me king over you*, then come and take refuge in my shade and if not, let fire come out of the bramble and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

⁴ for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.)

³ Judge the poor man and the orphan. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute man. ⁴ Rescue the poor and needy man. Deliver him from the hand of the wicked man.

¹⁷ Learn to do good. Seek justice, make the oppressed fortunate, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

⁴ For you have been a stronghold to a poor man, a stronghold to a needy man in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the oppressors is as a storm against the wall.

² And a man will be as a hiding-place from the wind and a covert from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land.

⁸ The lord Jehovah, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, Yet I will gather to him, besides his own who are gathered.

¹² O house of David, Jehovah says thus: Execute justice in the morning and deliver he who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your* practices.

³ Jehovah says thus: Execute you* justice and righteousness. And deliver he who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. And do no wrong. Do no violence to the traveler, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

⁹ The lord Jehovah says thus: Let it suffice you*, O rulers of Israel. Remove violence and spoil and execute justice and righteousness. Take away your* exactions from my people, says the lord Jehovah. ¹⁰ You* will have just balances and a just ephah and a just 9-gallon container. ¹¹ The ephah and the 9-gallon container will be of one measure, that the 9-gallon container may contain the tenth part of a homer and the ephah the tenth part of a homer. The measure of it will be according to the homer. ¹² And the shekel will be twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels, twenty-five shekels, fifteen shekels, will be your* maneh.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you and break off your sins by righteousness and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.

¹² But do not look on the day of your brother in the day of his disaster and rejoice not over the sons of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor speak proudly in the day of distress. ¹³ Do not enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity.
Yes, do not look on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor lay you* hands on their substance in the day of their calamity. ¹⁴ And stand not in the crossway, to cut off those of his who escape and do not deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.

⁵ Then Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city and there made himself a booth and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city.
⁶ And Jehovah God prepared a gourd and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very glad because of the gourd.
⁷ But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day and it killed* the gourd, that it withered. ⁸ And it happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted and requested for himself that he might die and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

⁹ Thus Jehovah of hosts has spoken, saying, Execute true justice and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.

³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you led me in;

² Do not forget hospitality; for through this, some lodged messengers, being eluded.

¹⁵ You will not deliver to his master a servant who has escaped from his master to you. ¹⁶ He will dwell with you, in the midst of you, in the place which he will choose within one of your gates, where it pleases him best. You will not oppress him.

¹⁴ You will not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is of your brothers, or of your travelers that are in your land within your gates.

⁴ For the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.

⁴ that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon and say, How has the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased

⁶ For the waters of Nimrim will be desolate, for the grass is withered away. The tender grass fails. There is no green thing.

¹⁰ For the hand of Jehovah will rest on this mountain.
And Moab will be trodden down in his place, even as straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill.

¹ Woe to you who destroys and you were not destroyed and deal treacherously and they did not deal treacherously with you! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed and when you have made an end of dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you.

¹³ and have forgotten Jehovah your maker, who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and fear continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he makes ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

⁸ And the destroyer will come upon every city and no city will escape. The valley also will perish and the plain will be destroyed, as Jehovah has spoken.

¹⁸ O you daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory and sit in thirst, for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you. He has destroyed your strongholds.

⁸ And I will encamp the army around my house, that none pass through or return and no oppressor will pass through them any more. For now I have seen with my eyes.

⁵ And they will be as mighty men, treading down their enemies in the mud of the streets in the battle. And they will fight, because Jehovah is with them and the riders on horses will be confounded.

³ And you* will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your* feet in the day that I make, says Jehovah of hosts.

²⁴ And they will be falling by the edge of the sword and will be captured into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles should be fulfilled.

²⁰ Now the God of peace will crush the Adversary under your feet shortly.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is among you.

² And the courtyard outside the temple cast away outside and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations and they will be trampling on the holy city forty-two months.

⁹ And David dwelt in the stronghold and called it the city of David. And David built all around from Millo and inward.

¹⁶ And your house and your kingdom will be made sure forever before you; your throne will be established until everlasting.

³ The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me. He who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,

⁹ Praise Jehovah your God, who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Jehovah loved Israel everlasting, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness.

²⁰ And thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah. And he worked what was good and right and faithful before Jehovah his God.

⁶ You will prolong the king's life. His years will be as generation to generation. ⁷ He will abide before God everlasting.
O prepare loving kindness and truth that they may preserve him.

² He will judge your people with righteousness and your poor with justice.
³ The mountains will bring peace to the people and the hills, in righteousness. ⁴ He will judge the poor of the people.
He will save the sons of the needy and will break in pieces the oppressor.

¹⁰ Mercy and truth are met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

¹ I will sing of the loving kindness of Jehovah everlasting. I will make known your faithfulness to all generations with my mouth. ² Because I have said, Mercy will be built up everlasting. Your faithfulness you will establish in the very heavens.

¹⁴ Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.

¹³ before Jehovah, because he comes. Because he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with his truth.

He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with uprightness.

⁴ The king’s strength also loves justice. You establish uprightness. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

²⁸ Kindness and truth preserve the king and his throne is upheld by kindness.

¹⁴ The king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne will be established forever.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.
⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from hereafter until everlasting. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

¹ And there will come out a shoot out of the stock of Jesse. And a branch out of his roots will bear fruit. ² And the Spirit of Jehovah will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. ³ And his delight will be in the fear of Jehovah. And he will not judge according to the sight of his eyes, nor decide according to the hearing of his ears, ⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.
And he will kill* the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness will be the belt of his waist and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

¹ Behold, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule in justice. ² And a man will be as a hiding-place from the wind and a covert from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land.

⁴ Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples.

⁵ Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch and he will reign as king and deal wisely and will execute justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell safely. And this is his name by which he will be called: Jehovah our righteousness.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

²⁷ And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, will be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and all dominions will serve and obey him.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that has fallen and close up the breaches of it. And I will raise up its ruins and I will build it as in the days of old,

⁷ And I will make what was lame a remnant and what was cast far off a strong nation. And Jehovah will reign over them in Mount Zion from now and until everlasting.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem. Behold, your king comes to you. He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding upon a donkey, even upon a colt the foal of a donkey.

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and will be bearing a son and will call his name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest and the Lord God will be giving to him the throne of his father David, ³³ and he will be reigning over the house of Jacob forever, and there will be no end of his kingdom.

⁶⁹ and has lifted up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his young-servant David, ⁷⁰ (just-as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from the ages past). ⁷¹ We have salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to do his mercy with our fathers and his holy covenant to remember. ⁷³ We have the oath which he swore to Abraham our father to give to us, ⁷⁴ having been fearlessly rescued out of the hand of our enemies, to give-divine service to him ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life in his sight.

¹⁶ ‘I will turn back after these things, and I will build the tabernacle of David again, which has fallen. And I will build its ruins again. And I will straighten it, ¹⁷ that the rest of men may seek out the Lord, and all the nations, upon whom my name has been called, says the Lord, the one who is doing all these things,’

⁸ But he says toward the Son, ‘Your throne, O God, is forevermore; the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. ⁹ You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.’

¹¹ Therefore, with all these things being dissolved, see what sort of things you ought to possess in all holy conduct and godliness, ¹² expecting, and diligently wanting the presence of the day of God, through which, the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt, being burnt with heat.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man will be brought low and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down and Jehovah alone will be exalted in that day.

¹⁵ Because you* have said, We have made a covenant with death and we are at agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge will pass through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge and we have hid ourselves under falsehood.

¹⁸ And your* covenant with death will be annulled and your* agreement with Sheol will not stand. When the overflowing scourge will pass through, then you* will be trodden down by it.

²⁵ who frustrates the signs of the liars and makes diviners mad, who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish,

²⁶ You* make him drunken, for he magnified himself against Jehovah. And Moab will wallow in his vomit and he also will be a laughing-stock.

²⁹ We have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud, his loftiness and his pride and his arrogance and the haughtiness of his heart. ³⁰ I know his wrath, says Jehovah, that it is nothing. His boastings have worked nothing.

⁴² And Moab will be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against Jehovah.

³⁶ A sword is upon the boasters and they will become fools. A sword is upon her mighty men and they will be dismayed.

¹ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Moab, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

³ The pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground? ⁴ Though you mount on high as the eagle and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there, says Jehovah.

⁸ I have heard the reproach of Moab and the revilings of the sons of Ammon, with which they have reproached my people and magnified themselves against their border. ⁹ Therefore as I live, says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab will be as Sodom and the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles and salt pits and a everlasting desolation. The residue of my people will make a prey of them and the remnant of my nation will inherit them.
¹⁰ They will have this for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts.

⁵ Likewise, the younger ones, be subject to the elder ones. But all of you be subject to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, because ‘God resists the haughty, but is giving grace to the humble.’

²⁵ And they beat down the cities. And on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone and filled it. And they stopped all the fountains of water and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they left the stones of it. However the slingers went about it and killed* it.

³ And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread and a portion of flesh and a cake of raisins.

¹⁹ And when they will say to you*, Seek for those who have familiar spirits and for the wizards, who chirp and who mutter, should not a people seek for their God? On behalf of the living seek to the dead?

¹ The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. ² They have gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. On all their heads is baldness. Every beard is cut off. ³ In their streets they gird themselves with sackcloth. On their housetops and in their broad places, everyone wails, weeping abundantly. ⁴ And Heshbon cries out and Elealeh. Their voice is heard even to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud. His soul trembles within him.
⁵ My heart cries out for Moab. Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For they go up with weeping by the ascent of Luhith. For they raise up a cry of destruction in the way of Horonaim.

³ Ataroth and Dibon and Jazer and Nimrah and Heshbon and Elealeh and Sebam and Nebo and Beon,

³⁸ and Nebo and Baal-meon, (their names being changed,) and Sibmah. And they gave other names to the cities which they built.

¹⁹ and Kiriathaim and Sibmah and Zereth-shahar in the mountain of the valley,

²⁵ And their border was Jazer and all the cities of Gilead and half the land of the sons of Ammon, to Aroer that is before Rabbah,

²¹ You* mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you*, neither fields of offerings, for there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.

⁷ However he does not so reason, nor does his heart so think, but it is in his heart to destroy and to cut off nations not a few.

⁴ And Heshbon cries out and Elealeh. Their voice is heard even to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud. His soul trembles within him.

⁷ The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry-hearted do sigh.

⁶ And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant. And the beasts of the field I have also given him to serve him. ⁷ And all the nations will serve him and his son and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings will make him their bondman.

³² With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, O vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage.

²⁷ And they went out into the field and gathered their vineyards and trod the grapes and held festival and went into the house of their god and ate and drank and cursed Abimelech.

³ You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They joy before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

¹⁰ As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who will come to us. But you*, gather wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your* vessels and dwell in your* cities that you* have taken.

¹² then all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah and gathered very much wine and summer fruits.

³² With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, O vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage. ³³ And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab. And I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses. None will tread with shouting. The shouting will be no shouting. ³⁴ From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For the waters of Nimrim also will become desolate.

¹¹ They make oil within the walls of these men. They tread their winepresses and suffer thirst.

⁷ The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry-hearted do sigh. ⁸ The joy of tambourine ceases. The noise of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases. ⁹ They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.

¹⁰ For you* will be troubled days beyond a year, you* careless women. For the vintage will fail; the ingathering will not come.

³³ And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab. And I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses. None will tread with shouting. The shouting will be no shouting.

¹¹ Inasmuch therefore as you* trample upon the poor and take exactions of wheat from him. You* have built houses of hewn stone, but you* will not dwell in them. You* have planted pleasant vineyards, but you* will not drink the wine of it.

¹⁷ And in all vineyards will be wailing, for I will pass through the midst of you, says Jehovah.

¹⁷ For though the fig tree will not flourish, nor will fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive will fail and the fields will yield no food; the flock will be cut off from the fold and there will be no herd in the stalls; ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in Jehovah. I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹³ And their wealth will become a spoil and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but will not inhabit them and they will plant vineyards, but will not drink the wine of it.

⁵ My heart cries out for Moab. Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For they go up with weeping by the ascent of Luhith. For they raise up a cry of destruction in the way of Horonaim.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory. Where are your zeal and your mighty acts? The yearning of your heart and your compassions are restrained toward me.

¹⁹ My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart. My heart is in an uproar in me. I cannot hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him. I will surely have mercy upon him, says Jehovah.

³⁶ Therefore my heart roars for Moab like pipes and my heart roars like pipes for the men of Kir-heres. Therefore the abundance that he has gotten has perished.

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? How shall I cast you off, Israel? How shall I make you as Admah? How shall I set you as Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me. My compassions are kindled together.

¹ Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affections and mercies,

³⁹ And Balaam went with Balak and they came to Kiriath-huzoth.

⁴¹ And it happened in the morning, that Balak took Balaam and brought him up into the high places of Baal and he saw from there the outmost part of the people.

¹⁴ And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah and built seven altars and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.

²⁸ And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down upon the desert.

¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I behold him, but not near. There will come out a star out of Jacob and a scepter will rise out of Israel and will kill* through the corners of Moab and break down all the sons of tumult.

⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab on the mountain that is before Jerusalem and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

²⁹ And it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening oblation, but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

²⁷ Then he took his eldest son who should have reigned instead of him and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel and they departed from him and returned to their own land.

¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden that were in Telassar?

¹⁶ Incline your ear, O Jehovah and hear. Open your eyes, O Jehovah and see. And hear the words of Sennacherib, with which he has sent for him to defy the living God.
¹⁷ Of a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, ¹⁸ and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone. Therefore they have destroyed them. ¹⁹ Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, I beseech you, save us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you Jehovah are God alone.

³ But our God is in the heavens. He has done whatever he pleased.
⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak. They have eyes, but they do not see. ⁶ They have ears, but they do not hear. They have noses, but they do not smell. ⁷ They have hands, but they do not handle. They have feet, but they do not walk, nor do they speak through their throat.

²⁸ Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,

² They have gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. On all their heads is baldness. Every beard is cut off.

¹⁶ Jehovah, in trouble they have visited you, they poured out a prayer when your chastening was upon them.

³⁸ And it happened, as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons killed* him with the sword and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned instead of him.

¹³ You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the star-gazers, the knowers from the new moons, stand up and save you from the things that will come upon you.

⁵ They are like a palm tree, of turned work and do not speak. They must be carried, because they cannot go. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, nor is it in them to do good.

⁷ For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also will be taken. And Chemosh will go forth into captivity, his priests and his rulers together.

¹³ And Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

³⁵ Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, says Jehovah, he who offers in the high place and he who burns incense to his gods.

⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone, for your sons are taken away captive and your daughters into captivity.

⁸ Do not fear, nor be afraid. Have I not declared to you of old and shown it? And you* are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Yes, there is no Rock. I do not know any.

¹ And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away all that was our father's and he has gotten all this glory of what was our father's.

⁸ but you will surely open your hand to him and will surely lend him sufficient for his need which he wants.

¹¹ And Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches and the multitude of his sons and all the things in which the king had promoted him and how he had advanced him above the rulers and servants of the king.

¹⁶ For before the child will know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor will be forsaken.

⁴ And it will happen in that day, that the glory of Jacob will be made thin and the fatness of his flesh will grow lean.

¹⁶ For thus the Lord has said to me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Kedar will fail.

⁹ Jehovah of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.

²³ Jehovah says thus: Do not let the wise man glory in his wisdom, nor let the mighty man glory in his might. Do not let the rich man glory in his riches,

⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone, for your sons are taken away captive and your daughters into captivity. ⁴⁷ Yet I will bring back the captivity of Moab in the latter days, says Jehovah. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

⁹ You* take the spoil of silver. Take the spoil of gold. For there is no end of the store, the glory of all desirable furniture. ¹⁰ She is empty and void and waste. And the heart melts and the knees kill* together and anguish is in all loins and the faces of them all have grown pale.
