¹³ And behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine. Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.

¹² And the harp and the lute, the tambourine and the pipe and wine, are in their feasts, but they do not regard the work of Jehovah, nor have they considered the operation of his hands.

²² Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink,

⁴ My heart wanders. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling to me.
⁵ They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink. Rise up, you* rulers, anoint the shield.

⁷ And even these reel with wine and wander around with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up of wine. They wander around with strong drink; they reel in vision; they stumble in judgment. ⁸ For all tables are full of vomit, filthiness, no place clean.

¹² Come you*, they say, I will fetch wine and we will fill ourselves with strong drink. And tomorrow will be as this day, great beyond measure.

³ You* who put far away the evil day and cause the seat of violence to come near, ⁴ who lie upon beds of ivory and stretch themselves upon their couches and eat the lambs out of the flock and the calves out of the midst of the stall, ⁵ who scatter-words to the mouth of the harp, who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David, ⁶ who drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the chief oils, but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
⁷ Therefore they will now go into exile with the first who go into exile and the banqueting of those who stretched themselves will pass away.

²⁶ And just-as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will also be in the days of the Son of Man. ²⁷ They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being betrothed, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise, even as it happened in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; ²⁹ but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

³² If I quarreled with beasts in Ephesus according to the manner of man, what is the profit to me? If the dead are not raised up, ‘We should eat and drink, for the next-day we die.’

⁵ You have caroused upon the land and are self-indulgent; you have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
