¹ And Jehovah said to me, You take a great tablet and write upon it with the pen of a man, To Make Haste to Plunder! Hurry to the Spoil! ² And I will take to me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. ³ And I went to the prophetess and she conceived and bore a son.
Then Jehovah said to me, Call his name Make Haste to Plunder! Hurry to the Spoil! ⁴ For before the child will have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried away before the king of Assyria.
⁵ And Jehovah spoke to me yet again, saying, ⁶ Inasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son, ⁷ now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory. And it will come up over all its channels and go over all its banks, ⁸ and it will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through; it will reach even to the neck. And the stretching out of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.
⁹ Make an uproar, O you* peoples and be broken in pieces. And listen, all you* of far countries. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. ¹⁰ Take counsel together and it will be brought to nothing. Speak the word and it will not stand, for God is with us.
¹¹ For Jehovah spoke thus to me with a strong hand and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, ¹² Do not say, A conspiracy, concerning all of which this people will say, A conspiracy, nor fear their fear, nor be in dread of it. ¹³ Jehovah of hosts, him you* will sanctify and let him be your* fear and let him be your* dread.
¹⁴ And he will be for a sanctuary, but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a net and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many will stumble on it and fall and be broken and be snared and be taken.
¹⁶ Bind you up the testimony. Seal the law among my disciples. ¹⁷ And I will wait for Jehovah, who hides his face from the house of Jacob and I will be a man who has trusted in him.
¹⁸ Behold, I and the children whom Jehovah has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Jehovah of hosts, who dwells in Mount Zion.
¹⁹ And when they will say to you*, Seek for those who have familiar spirits and for the wizards, who chirp and who mutter, should not a people seek for their God? On behalf of the living seek to the dead?
²⁰ Seek to the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. ²¹ And they will pass through it, greatly distressed and hungry. And it will happen that, when they will be hungry, they will be angry and curse by their king and by their God and turn their faces upward. ²² And they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish and into thick darkness to be driven away.

²³ O that my words were now written! O that they were inscribed in a book, ²⁴ that they were engraved in the rock forever with an iron pen and lead!

³ And I went to the prophetess and she conceived and bore a son.
Then Jehovah said to me, Call his name Make Haste to Plunder! Hurry to the Spoil!

⁸ Now go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it on a scroll, that it may be for the time to come until everlasting.

² You take a roll of a book and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel and against Judah and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.

²⁸ You take again another roll and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

³² Then Jeremiah took another roll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire and there were added besides to them many like words.

² And Jehovah answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run who reads it. ³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time and it breathes-out toward the end and will not lie. Though it abide, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not delay.

¹⁸ Here is wisdom. He who has perception, let him calculate the number of the beast; for it is the number of man and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

¹⁷ And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, which is, of a messenger.

² And he took ten men of the elders of the city and said, Sit you* down here. And they sat down.

¹⁰ Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You* are witnesses this day.
¹¹ And all the people who were in the gate and the elders, said, We are witnesses. Jehovah make the woman that has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two built the house of Israel and do you worthily in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

¹⁰ And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria and saw the altar that was at Damascus. And king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the form of the altar and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship of it. ¹¹ And Urijah the priest built an altar. According to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it until the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

¹⁵ And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering and the evening meal offering and the king's burnt offering and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land and their meal offering and their drink offerings. And sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of the sacrifice. But the brazen altar will be for me to inquire by. ¹⁶ Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

² He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

¹ This will be the third-time I am coming to you. (Upon the mouth of two or three witnesses every declaration will be established.)

⁴ Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

¹⁴ So Hilkiah the priest and Ahikam and Achbor and Shaphan and Asaiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter) and they spoke with her.

¹³ And he said, Hear now, O house of David. Is it a small thing for you* to weary men, that you* will weary my God also?
¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you* a sign: Behold, a virgin will conceive and bear a son and will call his name Immanuel.

³ So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim and she conceived and bore him a son. ⁴ And Jehovah said to him, Call his name Jezreel, for yet a little while and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. ⁵ And it will happen at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
⁶ And she conceived again and bore a daughter. And Jehovah said to him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah, for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel, that I should in any way pardon them.
⁷ But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah and will save them by Jehovah their God and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.
⁸ Now when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and bore a son. ⁹ And Jehovah said, Call his name Lo-ammi, for you* are not my people and I will not be yours*.

³⁹ Moreover your* little ones, who you* said would be a prey and your* sons, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they will go in there and I will give it to them and they will possess it.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah King of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon and Abel-beth-maacah and Janoah and Kedesh and Hazor and Gilead and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali. And he carried them captive to Assyria.

⁹ And the king of Assyria listened to him. And the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it and carried the people of it captive to Kir and killed Rezin.

³ Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him. And Hoshea became his servant and brought him tribute.

⁵ Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land and went up to Samaria and besieged it three years. ⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria and placed them in Halak and on the Habor, the river of Gozan and in the cities of the Medes.

⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken in pieces, so that is will not be a people. ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you* will not believe, surely you* will not be established.

¹⁵ Butter and honey will he eat, when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good. ¹⁶ For before the child will know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor will be forsaken.

⁶ I will send him against a profane nation and against the people of my wrath. I will give him a charge, to take the spoil and to take the prey and to tread them down like the mud of the streets.
⁷ However he does not so reason, nor does his heart so think, but it is in his heart to destroy and to cut off nations not a few. ⁸ For he says, Are not my rulers all of them kings? ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images excelled those of Jerusalem and of Samaria, ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
¹² Therefore it will happen, that, when the Lord has performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the glory of his high looks.
¹³ For he has said, I have done it by the strength of my hand and by my wisdom, for I have understanding. And I have removed the bounds of the peoples and have robbed their treasures. And like a valiant man I have brought down those who sit on thrones. ¹⁴ And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the peoples. And like a gathering of eggs that are forsaken, I have gathered all the earth. And there was none that moved the wing, or that opened the mouth, or chirped.

³ And the fortress will cease from Ephraim and the kingdom from Damascus. And the remnant of Syria, they will be as the glory of the sons of Israel, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹¹ And should not I have regard for Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand men who cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand and also much cattle?

¹¹ for the children not yet having been born, nor having practiced anything good or evil, in order that the purpose of God according to his choice might abide, not from works, but from the one who is calling.

¹⁰ And Jehovah spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

¹⁶ Now therefore, if you* have dealt truly and uprightly, in that you* have made Abimelech king and if you* have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house and have done to him according to the deed of his hands ¹⁷ (for my father fought for you* and ventured his life and delivered you* out of the hand of Midian, ¹⁸ and you* have risen up against my father's house this day and have slain his sons, seventy men, upon one stone and have made Abimelech, the son of his maid-servant, king over the men of Shechem because he is your* brother), ¹⁹ if you* then have dealt truly and uprightly with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice in Abimelech and let him also rejoice in you*.
²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth-millo and devour Abimelech.

¹⁶ And he made two capitals of molten brass to set upon the tops of the pillars. The height of the one capital was five cubits and the height of the other capital was five cubits.

⁸ And now you* think to withstand the kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David and you* are a great multitude and there are with you* the golden calves which Jeroboam made you* for gods. ⁹ Have you* not driven out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron and the Levites and made priests for you* after the manner of the peoples of other lands? So that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
¹⁰ But as for us, Jehovah is our God and we have not forsaken him. And we have priests ministering to Jehovah, the sons of Aaron and the Levites in their work. ¹¹ And they burn to Jehovah every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. Also they set the showbread in order upon the pure table and the lamp-stand of gold with the lamps of it to burn every evening. For we keep the charge of Jehovah our God, but you* have forsaken him.
¹² And behold, God is with us at our head and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to shout an alarm against you*. O sons of Israel, do not fight against Jehovah, the God of your* fathers. For you* will not prosper.
¹³ But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come around behind them, so they were before Judah and the ambush was behind them.
¹⁴ And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them. And they cried to Jehovah and the priests blew the trumpets. ¹⁵ Then the men of Judah gave a shout. And as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God killed* Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
¹⁶ And the sons of Israel fled before Judah and God delivered them into their hand. ¹⁷ And Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter. So there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
¹⁸ Thus the sons of Israel were brought under at that time and the sons of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

¹⁵ And Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired the fountain gate. He built it and covered it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, even to the stairs that go down from the city of David.

²⁴ Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness and their blossom will go up as dust, because they have rejected the law of Jehovah of hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹ And it happened in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, King of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it. ² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart trembled and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

⁶ Let us go up against Judah and besiege it and let us make a breach in it for us and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel,

¹³ For my people have committed two evils: They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

¹⁸ And now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or what have you to do in the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

¹⁴ Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Or will the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?

⁷ and said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by translation, Sent). Therefore, he went away and washed and came back seeing.

¹⁷ And I, behold, I bring the flood of waters upon this earth, to destroy all flesh, in which is the breath of life, from under heaven. Everything that is on the earth will die.

⁴⁹ Jehovah will bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies, a nation whose tongue you will not understand, ⁵⁰ a nation of fierce countenance, that will not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young, ⁵¹ and will eat the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed, that also will not leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of your cattle, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish. ⁵² And they will besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land. And they will besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which Jehovah your God has given you.

³ Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him. And Hoshea became his servant and brought him tribute.
⁴ And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So King of Egypt and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.

⁹ And it happened in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah King of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it. ¹⁰ And at the end of three years they took it. Samaria was taken in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea King of Israel. ¹¹ And the king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria and put them in Halak and on the Habor, the river of Gozan and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they did not obey the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded and would not hear it, nor do it.

¹⁰ and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over and set in the city of Samaria and in the rest beyond the River and so forth.

⁸ He will also have dominion from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

¹ And it happened in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, King of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it. ² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart trembled and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind. ³ Then Jehovah said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the launder's field. ⁴ And say to him, Take heed and be quiet. Do not fear, nor let your heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and of the son of Remaliah. ⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, have purposed evil against you, saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah and besiege it and let us make a breach in it for us and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel,

¹⁷ Jehovah will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah–even} the king of Assyria.

²⁰ In that day the Lord will shave with a razor what is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet and it will also consume the beard.

¹² Ah, the uproar of many peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters! ¹³ The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters, but he will rebuke them. And they will flee far off and will be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind and like the whirling dust before the storm.

¹⁷ And I will make justice the line and righteousness the plummet.
And the hail will sweep away the refuge of lies and the waters will overflow the hiding place.

¹⁹ So they will fear the name of Jehovah from the west and his glory from the rising of the sun. For he will come as a rushing stream, which the breath of Jehovah drives.

⁷ Who is this that rises up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers? ⁸ Egypt rises up like the Nile and his waters toss themselves like the rivers. And he says, I will rise up. I will cover the earth. I will destroy cities and the inhabitants of it.

³ Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches and with a forest-like shade and of high stature and its top was among the thick branches. ⁴ The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. The rivers of it ran all around its plantation and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
⁵ Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field and its boughs were multiplied and its branches became long because of many waters, when it shot them forth. ⁶ All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs and under its branches all the beasts of the field brought out their young and under its shadow dwelt all great nations.
⁷ Thus it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches, for its root was by many waters. ⁸ The cedars in the garden of God could not dim it. The fir trees were not like its boughs and the plane trees were not as its branches, nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.
⁹ I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.
¹⁰ Therefore thus said the lord Jehovah: Because you are exalted in stature and he has set his top among the thick branches and his heart is lifted up in his height, ¹¹ I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness.
¹² And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off and have left him. Upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow and have left him.
¹³ All the birds of the heavens will dwell upon his ruin and all the beasts of the field will be upon his branches, ¹⁴ to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick branches, nor that their mighty ones stand up on their height, even all that drink water. For they are all delivered to death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.
¹⁵ The lord Jehovah says thus: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning. I covered the deep for him. And I restrained the rivers of it and the great waters were stayed. And I caused Lebanon to mourn for him and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
¹⁶ I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth. ¹⁷ They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword, yes, those who were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations.
¹⁸ To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth. You will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the lord Jehovah.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks the anointed one will be cut off and will have nothing. And the people of the prince who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary and the end of it will be with a flood. And even to the end will be war; desolations are determined.

¹⁰ And his sons will war and will assemble a multitude of great forces, which will come on and overflow and pass through. And they will return and war, even to his fortress.

²² And the overwhelming forces will be overwhelmed from before him and will be broken, yes, also the ruler of the covenant.

⁸ Shall the land not tremble for this and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up all of it like the River and it will be troubled and sink again like the River of Egypt.

⁵ For the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, is he who touches the land and it melts and all who dwell in it will mourn. And it will rise up all of it like the River and will sink again like the River of Egypt.

⁸ But with an over running flood he will make a full end of her place and will pursue his enemies into darkness.

⁴⁸ He is similar to a man building a house, who dug and then deepened and placed its foundation upon the rock, and when a deluge happened, the river bursts against that house and was not strong-enough to shake it; for it had been founded upon the rock.

¹⁵ And the serpent cast water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, in order that he might make the river whisk her away. ¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

¹⁵ And he says to me, The waters which you saw, where the prostitute is sitting, are peoples and crowds and nations and languages.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you* a sign: Behold, a virgin will conceive and bear a son and will call his name Immanuel.

²⁸ He has come to Aiah. He has passed through Migron. At Michmash he lays up his baggage. ²⁹ They have gone over the pass. They have taken up their lodging at Geba. Ramah trembles. Gibeah of Saul has fled.
³⁰ Cry aloud with your voice, O daughter of Gallim! Listen, O Laishah! O you poor Anathoth! ³¹ Madmenah is a fugitive. The inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety. ³² This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

¹ The burden of the valley of vision. What troubles you now, that you have entirely gone up to the housetops? ² O you that are full of shouts, a tumultuous city, a joyous town. Your slain are not slain with the sword, nor are they dead in battle. ³ All your rulers fled away together. They were bound by the archers. All who were found of you were bound together; they fled afar off.
⁴ Therefore I said, Look away from me. I will weep bitterly. Labor not to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people. ⁵ For it is a day of trouble and of treading down and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision, a breaking down of the walls and a crying to the mountains.
⁶ And Elam bore the quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen and Kir uncovered the shield. ⁷ And it happened, that your choicest valleys were full of chariots and the horsemen set themselves in array at the gate.

¹⁴ Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, you* scoffers, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you* have said, We have made a covenant with death and we are at agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge will pass through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge and we have hid ourselves under falsehood. ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner- stone, a sure foundation. He who believes in him will never be shamed. ¹⁷ And I will make justice the line and righteousness the plummet.
And the hail will sweep away the refuge of lies and the waters will overflow the hiding place. ¹⁸ And your* covenant with death will be annulled and your* agreement with Sheol will not stand. When the overflowing scourge will pass through, then you* will be trodden down by it. ¹⁹ As often as it passes though, it will take you*. For morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night. And it will be nothing but terror to understand the report. ²⁰ For the bed is shorter than what a man can stretch himself on it and the covering narrower than what he can wrap himself in it.
²¹ For Jehovah will rise up as in Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his foreign work and work his work, his alien work.
²² Now therefore be you* not scoffers, lest your* bonds be made strong. For I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, upon the whole earth.

¹ Ho Ariel, Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add year to year. Let the feasts come round. ² Then I will distress Ariel and there will be mourning and lamentation and she will be to me as Ariel. ³ And I will encamp against you all around and will lay siege against you with posted troops. And I will raise siege works against you.
⁴ And you will be brought down and will speak out of the ground. And your speech will be low out of the dust and your voice will be as of he who has a familiar spirit, out of the ground. And your speech will whisper out of the dust. ⁵ But the multitude of your foes will be like small dust and the multitude of the terrible ones as chaff that passes away. Yes, it will be in an instant suddenly
⁶ She will be visited by Jehovah of hosts with thunder and with earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a devouring fire. ⁷ And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her stronghold and that distress her, will be as a dream, a vision of the night.
⁸ And it will be as when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he eats. But he awakes and his soul is empty. Or as when a thirsty man dreams, and behold, he drinks. But he awakes, and behold, he is faint and his soul has appetite. So will the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.
⁹ Abide and wonder, take your* pleasure and be blind. They are drunken, but not with wine. They stagger, but not with strong drink.

²⁸ and his breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction. And a bridle that makes them go-astray will be in the jaws of the peoples.

¹ Now it happened in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them. ² And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the launder's field.
³ Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah came out to him, who was over the household and Shebna the scribe and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder.
⁴ And Rabshakeh said to them, Say you* now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this in which you trust? ⁵ I say, your counsel and strength for the war are but vain words. Now on whom do you trust that you have rebelled against me? ⁶ Behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh King of Egypt to all who trust on him.
⁷ But if you say to me, We trust in Jehovah our God. Is that not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, You* will worship before this altar?
⁸ Now therefore, I beseech you, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders upon them. ⁹ How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
¹⁰ And have I now come up without Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, Go up against this land and destroy it.
¹¹ Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, I beseech you, speak, to your servants in the Syrian language, for we understand it. And do not speak to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people who are on the wall.
¹² But Rabshakeh said, Has my master sent me to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit upon the wall, to eat their own manure and to drink their own urine with you*?
¹³ Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language and said, Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria. ¹⁴ Thus says the king, Do not let Hezekiah deceive you*, for he will not be able to deliver you*. ¹⁵ Neither let Hezekiah make you* trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us. This city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
¹⁶ Listen not to Hezekiah. For thus says the king of Assyria, Make your* peace with me and come out to me and eat you* everyone of his vine and everyone of his fig tree and drink you* everyone the waters of his own cistern, ¹⁷ until I come and take you* away to a land like your* own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
¹⁸ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you*, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
²⁰ Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
²¹ But they held their peace and answered him not a word. For the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
²² Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah came, who was over the household and Shebna the scribe and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

³ and say, The lord Jehovah says thus: A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.

²³ ‘Behold, the virgin will be pregnant, and will be bearing a son, and they will call his name Immanuel'; which is, after being translated, ‘God with us.’

¹¹ And the King of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let he who girds on his armor boast himself as he who puts it off.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill such as are upright in the way. ¹⁵ Their sword will enter into their own heart and their bows will be broken.

²¹ Hand in hand, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.

⁵ Jehovah has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers, ⁶ who killed* the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, who ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.

¹³ Therefore the word of Jehovah will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they may go and fall backward and be broken and snared and taken.

³⁶ And the messenger of Jehovah went forth and killed* in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And when men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

¹⁵ Behold, they may gather together, but not by me. Whoever will gather together against you will fall because of you.

⁹ Go up, you* horses and rage, you* chariots. And let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Put, who handle the shield and the Ludim, who handle and bend the bow. ¹⁰ For that day is a day of the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries. And the sword will devour and be satiate and will drink its fill of their blood, for the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
¹¹ Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt. In vain do you use many medicines; there is no healing for you.

⁹ And you will ascend. You will come like a storm. You will be like a cloud to cover the land, you and all your hordes and many peoples with you.
¹⁰ The lord Jehovah says thus: It will happen in that day, that things will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan.
¹¹ And you will say, I will go up to the land of un-walled villages. I will go to those who are at rest, who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls and having neither bars nor gates, ¹² to take the spoil and to take the prey, to turn your hand against the waste places that are now inhabited and against the people who are gathered out of the nations, who have gotten cattle and goods, who dwell in the middle of the earth.
¹³ Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions of it, will say to you, Have you come to take the spoil? Have you assembled your company to take the prey, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take great spoil?
¹⁴ Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, The lord Jehovah says thus: In that day when my people Israel dwell securely, will you not know it?
¹⁵ And you will come from your place out of the outermost parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding upon horses, a great company and a mighty army. ¹⁶ And you will come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land. It will happen in the latter days, that I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I will be made holy in you, O Gog, before their eyes.
¹⁷ The lord Jehovah says thus: Are you he of whom I spoke in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them?
¹⁸ And it will happen in that day, when Gog will come against the land of Israel, says the lord Jehovah, that my wrath will come up into my nostrils. ¹⁹ For I have spoken in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath.
Surely in that day there will be a great shaking in the land of Israel, ²⁰ so that the fishes of the sea and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep upon the earth and all the men who are upon the face of the earth, will shake at my presence. And the mountains will be thrown down and the steep places will fall and every wall will fall to the ground.
²¹ And I will call for a sword against him to all my mountains, says the lord Jehovah. Every man's sword will be against his brother. ²² And I will enter into judgment with him with pestilence and with blood. And I will rain upon him and upon his hordes and upon the many peoples who are with him, an overflowing shower and great hailstones, fire and brimstone.
²³ And I will magnify myself and sanctify myself and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations. And they will know that I am Jehovah.

³⁴ You looked until a stone was cut out without hands, which killed* the image upon its feet that were of iron and clay and broke them in pieces. ³⁵ Then the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver and the gold, was broken in pieces together and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors. And the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them. And the stone that killed* the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

⁹ Proclaim you* this among the nations: Prepare war. Stir up the mighty men. Let all the men of war draw near. Let them come up. ¹⁰ Beat your* plowshares into swords and your* pruning-hooks into spears. Let the weak say, I am strong.
¹¹ You* hasten and come, all you* nations all around and gather yourselves together. Cause your mighty ones to come down there, O Jehovah. ¹² Let the nations move themselves and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations all around. ¹³ Put you* in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread you*, for the winepress is full, the vats overflow. For their wickedness is great.
¹⁴ Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Jehovah is near in the valley of decision.

¹¹ And now many nations are assembled against you, who say, Let her be defiled and let our eye see our desire upon Zion. ¹² But they do not know the thoughts of Jehovah, nor do they understand his counsel, for he has gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor.
¹³ Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion, for I will make your horn iron and I will make your hoofs brass and you will beat many peoples in pieces. And I will devote their gain to Jehovah and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.

¹ Behold, a day of Jehovah comes when your spoil will be divided in the midst of you. ² For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. And the city will be taken and the houses rifled and the women ravished and half of the city will go forth into captivity. And the residue of the people will not be cut off from the city.
³ Then Jehovah will go forth and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

¹² And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings, who did not yet receive a kingdom, but they receive authority like kings, with the beast, for one hour. ¹³ These have one intention and they are giving their power and authority to the beast. ¹⁴ These will make war with the Lamb and the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those called and chosen and faithful with him.

⁸ and will be going out to mislead the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together into the war. The number of whom is like the sand of the sea. ⁹ And they went up over the width of the earth and surrounded the encampment of the holy-ones and the beloved city and fire from God came down out of heaven and devoured them.

¹ When you go forth to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots, and a people more than you, you will not be afraid of them, for Jehovah your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

⁵ There will not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

³¹ And it was told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I beseech you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

⁴ And the saying pleased Absalom well and all the elders of Israel.

²³ And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and arose and got home to his city and set his house in order and hanged himself. And he died and was buried in the sepulcher of his father.

¹² And behold, God is with us at our head and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to shout an alarm against you*. O sons of Israel, do not fight against Jehovah, the God of your* fathers. For you* will not prosper.

⁷ And he set the graven image of the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name everlasting, ⁸ neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your* fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law and the statutes and the ordinances given by Moses.

¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

¹ Why do the nations rage and the peoples meditate vain things? ² The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together, against Jehovah and against his anointed, saying,

¹⁰ Jehovah brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. ¹¹ The counsel of Jehovah stands fast everlasting, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

¹ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

³ They take crafty counsel against your people and consult together against your hidden ones. ⁴ They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
⁵ Because they have consulted together with one consent. They make a covenant against you: ⁶ the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites, ⁷ Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre, ⁸ Assyria also is joined with them; they have helped the sons of Lot. Selah.
⁹ Do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon, ¹⁰ who perished at En-dor, who became as manure for the earth. ¹¹ Make their ranking men like Oreb and Zeeb, yes, all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna, ¹² who said, Let us take to ourselves in possession the habitations of God.
¹³ O my God, make them like the whirling dust, as stubble before the wind, ¹⁴ as the fire that burns the forest and as the flame that sets the mountains on fire. ¹⁵ So pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
¹⁶ Fill their faces with confusion, that they may seek your name, O Jehovah.
¹⁷ Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish, ¹⁸ that they may know that you alone, whose name is Jehovah, are the Most High over all the earth.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Jehovah.

⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, have purposed evil against you, saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah and besiege it and let us make a breach in it for us and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel, ⁷ the lord Jehovah says thus: It will not stand, nor will it happen.

⁸ and it will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through; it will reach even to the neck. And the stretching out of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

¹⁰ Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

³⁷ Who is he that says and it happens, when the Lord does not command it?

⁹ What do you* devise against Jehovah? He will make a full end. Affliction will not rise up the second time. ¹⁰ For entangled like thorns and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble. ¹¹ He has gone forth out of you, who devises evil against Jehovah, who counsels wickedness.
¹² Jehovah says thus: Though they are in full strength and likewise many, even so they will be cut down. And he will pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, as many things as I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the earth.
Amen.

³⁸ And hereafter I say to you, Withdraw from these men and permit them to continue, because if this plan or this work is from men, it will be torn-down; ³⁹ but if it is from God, you will not be able to tear it down; lest you might be found even to be quarreling against God.

¹³ for if you are living according to the flesh, you are about to die, but if you slay the practices of the body in spirit, you will be living.

³¹ Therefore what will we say to these things? If God is working on our behalf, who is against us?

⁴ You are from God, my little-children and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you will go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them. Restrain your foot from their path.

¹⁹ Therefore Jehovah says thus: If you return, then I will bring you again that you may stand before me. And if you take forth the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you, but you will not return to them.

⁷ O Jehovah, you have persuaded me and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I and have prevailed. I have become a laughing-stock all the day; everyone mocks me.

⁹ And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones and I am weary with forbearing and I cannot.

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. ⁷ And you will speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, for they are most rebellious. ⁸ But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house.
Open your mouth and eat what I give you.

¹⁴ So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away. And I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

²⁰ For we are not able to speak, but the things which we saw and heard.

⁵ Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah King of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him. ⁶ At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria and drove the Jews from Elath. And the Syrians came to Elath and dwelt there to this day.
⁷ So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria and out of the hand of the King of Israel, who rise up against me.

⁵ They were in great fear there, where no fear was, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame because God has rejected them.

¹ Woe to the rebellious sons, says Jehovah, who take counsel, but not of me and who make a league, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,

¹² I, even I, am he who comforts you*. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who will die and of the son of man who will be made as grass, ¹³ and have forgotten Jehovah your maker, who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and fear continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he makes ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

⁹ And you went to the king with oil and increased your perfumes and sent your ambassadors far off and debased yourself even to Sheol. ¹⁰ You were wearied with the length of your way, yet you did not say, It is in vain. You found a quickening of your strength, therefore you were not faint.
¹¹ And of whom have you been afraid and in fear, that you lie and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Have I not held my peace even of long time and you do not fear me?

² And behold, there became a great earthquake; for a messenger of the Lord, having come down from heaven, came and rolled away the stone from the door and was sitting upon it. ³ His form was like lightning and his clothing was white like snow; ⁴ and those who are guarding the door, shook out of fear of him and became like dead men.
⁵ Now the messenger answered and said to the women, Do not be afraid; for I know that you are seeking Jesus, who has been crucified.

⁴ But I am saying to you my friends, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and they do not have, after these things, anything more-than that to do against you. ⁵ But I will be showing you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed you, has authority to cast you into hell. Yes, I say to you, Fear him.

⁹ But whenever you^\'b0 hear of wars and unrest, do not be terrified; for it is necessary for these things to happen first, but the end is not immediately here.

¹⁴ But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, you are fortunate. But do not fear because of their fear, nor should you be disturbed; ¹⁵ but make the Lord God holy in your hearts, and be ready habitually with a defense to everyone who is asking you for a reason concerning the hope which is in you, with meekness and fear;

⁵³ The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us. And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, This is it that Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be made holy by those who come near me. And I will be glorified before all the people. And Aaron remained silent.

¹² And Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron, Because you* did not believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore you* will not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them. ¹³ These are the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel contend with Jehovah and he was made holy in them.

¹⁴ because you* rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

⁷ You, even you, are to be feared. And who may stand in your sight when once you are angry?

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. ⁴ Trust in Jehovah forever, for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock.

²³ But when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they will sanctify my name. Yes, they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

⁵ My covenant of life and peace was with him. And I gave them to him that he might fear and he feared me and stood in awe of my name.

²⁸ And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

⁵ But I will be showing you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed you, has authority to cast you into hell. Yes, I say to you, Fear him.

²⁰ But he did not doubt through unbelief at the promise of God, but became empowered through faith, having given glory to God,

⁴ Who should never fear you, Lord, and should glorify your name? Because only you are holy, because all the nations will be coming and will be worshiping in your sight, because your righteousnesses were manifested.

⁶ He will rain snares upon sinners. Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes and though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas,

²² Let their table be a trap before them, and to those at peace, let it be a snare.

¹⁰ The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. A righteous man runs into it and is safe.

⁶ And there will be a pavilion for a shade in the daytime from the heat and for a refuge and for a covert from storm and from rain.

¹⁷ Fear and the pit and the snare, are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth. ¹⁸ And it will happen, that he who flees from the noise of the fear will fall into the pit and he who comes up out of the midst of the pit will be taken in the snare. For the windows on high are opened and the foundations of the earth tremble.

²⁰ Come, my people, enter you into your chambers and shut your doors around you. Hide yourself for a little moment until the indignation have passed over.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner- stone, a sure foundation. He who believes in him will never be shamed.

¹⁶ Therefore say, The lord Jehovah says thus: Though I have removed them far off among the nations and though I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come.

⁵⁷ And they were being offended at him.
But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his fatherland and in his own house.

³⁴ and Simeon gave-thanks for them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is destined for the fall and the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign being spoken against.

³⁵ for it will be coming like a snare upon all those sitting upon the face of all the earth.

³² Why? Because it was not from the faith, but as it was from works of the law, for they stumbled on the stone of stumbling; ³³ just-as it has been written, ‘Behold, I place a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense in Zion and everyone who believes on him will not be ashamed.’

⁹ And David says, ‘Let their table become for a snare and for a trap and for an offense and for a repayment to them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened not to see and may you always bow down their backs.’
¹¹ Therefore I say, They have not tripped in order that they might fall, have they? Let it not happen! But salvation has come to the Gentiles in their trespass, that they might provoke them to jealousy.

³⁵ Or who has first-given to him and it will be repaid to him again? \ulnone\nosupersub

⁸ and, ‘A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; those who are stumbling in the word, being disobedient, toward which they were also appointed.

¹⁰ We grope for the wall like the blind. Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. We stumble at noonday as in the twilight. We are as dead men in desolate places.

⁶ And whoever is not offended at me is fortunate.

¹⁴ Leave them! They are blind guides of the blind. Now if the blind guide the blind, both will be falling into a ditch.

⁴⁴ And he who falls upon this stone will be shattered, but upon whomever it falls, it will be smashing him.

¹⁷ But he looked at them and said, Therefore what is this that has been written, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, this one has become the head of the corner'? ¹⁸ Everyone who falls upon that stone will be shattered, but upon whomever it falls, it will be smashing him.

⁶⁶ Many of his disciples went away from this speech to things left behind and were walking no more with him.

³² Why? Because it was not from the faith, but as it was from works of the law, for they stumbled on the stone of stumbling;

²³ but we preach Christ as having been crucified, indeed an offense to the Jews, but foolishness to the Greeks;

⁴⁵ These are the testimonies and the statutes and the ordinances, which Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, when they came forth out of Egypt,

¹² Then he brought out the king's son and put the crown upon him and gave him the testimony. And they made him king and anointed him. And they clapped their hands and said, Live, O king.

¹⁴ The friendship of Jehovah is with those who fear him and he will show them his covenant.

⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them. ⁹ They are all straightforward to him who understands and right to those who find knowledge.

¹ And Jehovah said to me, You take a great tablet and write upon it with the pen of a man, To Make Haste to Plunder! Hurry to the Spoil! ² And I will take to me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

²⁰ Seek to the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

¹¹ And all vision has become to you* as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to a man who is learned, saying, Read this, I beseech you. And he says, I cannot, for it is sealed. ¹² And the book is delivered to him who is not learned, saying, Read this, I beseech you. And he says, I am not learned.

¹³ And all your sons will be taught of Jehovah and great will be the peace of your sons.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish transgression and to make an end of sins and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.

⁴ But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end. Many will run to and fro and knowledge will be increased.

⁹ And he said, Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end.
¹⁰ Many will purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked will do wickedly. And none of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

¹¹ But he answered and said to them, It has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but it has not given to those men.

¹⁰ And when he happened to be alone, those who were around him together with the twelve, asked about the parable. ¹¹ And he said to them, You have been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things happen in parables;

³⁴ But he was not speaking to them without a parable, but privately he was interpreting all things for his disciples.

¹⁰ And in the house, his disciples asked him again concerning the same thing.

³² And what he has seen and heard, he is testifying of this, and no one receives his testimony. ³³ He who has received his testimony has sealed this : that God is true.

¹⁴ Now the physical man is not accepting the things from the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually examined.

⁵ And Moses indeed was faithful in his whole house as a bondservant for a testimony of the things which will be spoken later;

⁹ If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, because the testimony of God is this: that he has testified concerning his Son. ¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God, has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son. ¹¹ And the testimony is this, that God gave to us everlasting life and this life is in his Son. ¹² He who has the Son, has life; he who does not have the Son of God, does not have the life.

¹⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the congregations. To the one who overcomes, I will be giving to him to eat from the manna which has been hidden and I will be giving him a white voting-pebble and a new name that has been written upon the voting-pebble, which no one knows except he who receives it.

¹ And I saw upon the right hand of the one who sits upon the throne a book having been written inside and on the back, having been sealed with seven seals.

⁵ And one out of the elders says to me, Do not weep; behold, the Lion who is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome, so as to open the book and its seven seals.

⁴ And when the seven thunders spoke their voices, I was about to write and I heard a voice from heaven saying, Seal up the things which the seven thunders spoke and do not write them.

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he says to me, See that you do not do that. I am a fellow bondservant of you and of your brethren who are holding the testimony of Jesus. Worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹⁸ I have waited for your salvation, O Jehovah.

¹⁷ Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? ¹⁸ And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they will have worked, in that they have turned to other gods.

²⁰ And he said, I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be. For they are a very perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness.

¹⁴ Wait for Jehovah. Be strong and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Jehovah.

²⁰ Our soul has waited for Jehovah. He is our help and our shield.

³⁴ Wait for Jehovah and keep his way and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When sinners are cut off, you will see it.

⁷ And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.

¹ I waited patiently for Jehovah and he inclined to me and heard my cry.

⁵ I wait for Jehovah. My soul waits and I hope in his word,

¹⁵ And when you* spread forth your* hands, I will hide my eyes from you*. Yes, when you* make many prayers, I will not hear; your* hands are full of blood.

⁹ And it will be said in that day, Behold, this is our God. We have waited for him and he will save us. This is Jehovah. We have waited for him. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

⁸ Yes, in the way of your judgments, O Jehovah, we have waited for you, to your name. Even to your memorial, is the desire of our soul.

² O Jehovah, be gracious to us, we have waited for you. Be our arm every morning, also our salvation in the time of trouble.

¹⁰ Who is among you* that fears Jehovah, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah and rely upon his God.

⁸ In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting loving kindness I will have mercy on you, says Jehovah your Redeemer.

² But your* iniquities have separated between you* and your* God and your* sins have hid his face from you* so that he will not hear.

⁴ For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, besides you, what he has prepared for him who waits for him.

⁷ And there is none who calls upon your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of you. For you have hid your face from us and have consumed us through our iniquities.

²⁵ Jehovah is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah.

²³ And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they trespassed against me and I hid my face from them. So I gave them into the hand of their adversaries and they fell all of them by the sword. ²⁴ I did to them according to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions. And I hid my face from them.

⁶ Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice and wait for your God continually.

⁴ Then they will cry to Jehovah, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, just-as they have worked evil in their practices.

⁷ But as for me, I will look to Jehovah. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time and it breathes-out toward the end and will not lie. Though it abide, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not delay.

³⁸ And standing up in that same hour, she was fully-professing the Lord and was speaking concerning him to all those who were waiting for the redemption in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ and to await his Son Jesus from the heavens, whom he raised up from the dead; who rescues us from the coming wrath.

⁵ Now may the Lord steer your hearts into the love of God and into the endurance of the Christ.

²⁸ so the Christ, (having been offered once for all, that he should carry the sins of many), will also be seen a second-time for salvation, separate from sin, to the same who are waiting for him.

³⁶ For you have need of endurance, in order that, having done the will of God, you may get the promise for yourselves. ³⁷ ‘For still a little while, O how-much? O how-much? He who is coming will be coming and will not delay. ³⁸ But my righteous one will be living from faith and if he retreats back, my soul does not delight in him.’ ³⁹ But we are not from this retreating back leading to destruction, but we are from the faith leading to the preservation of the soul.

²⁵ For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people and he dwells in Jerusalem until everlasting.

¹¹ Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwells in Zion. Declare among the people his practices.

³⁰ A seed will serve him. It will be told of the Lord to the next generation.

⁷ I am as a wonder to many, but you are my strong refuge.

³ Then Jehovah said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the launder's field.

¹⁶ For before the child will know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor will be forsaken.

⁶ Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Zion, for great in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel.

³² What then will a man answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah has founded Zion and in her will the afflicted of his people take refuge.

²³ Then the moon will be confounded and the sun ashamed, for Jehovah of hosts will reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem. And glory will be before his elders.

¹⁰ Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him. He has put him to grief.
When you will make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his seed. He will prolong his days and the pleasure of Jehovah will prosper in his hand.

⁸ And I will set my face against that man and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb. And I will cut him off from the midst of my people.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign. For, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

³ Jehovah says thus: I am returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called The city of truth and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain.

⁹ For I am thinking that God has showed us, the apostles, last of all, as men doomed to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to messengers and men. ¹⁰ We are foolish because of Christ, but you are prudent in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are glorious, but we are dishonored. ¹¹ We are both hungry and thirsty, till the current hour, and are naked and are battered and are homeless; ¹² and we are laboring, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we are speaking well of them; being persecuted, we are tolerating it; ¹³ being blasphemed, we are encouraging. We have become like the scums of the world, the garbage of all things, even until now.

¹³ And again, ‘I will have confidence in him.’And again, ‘Behold, here I am and the children whom God has given me.’ ¹⁴ Therefore since the children have shared of flesh and blood, in like-manner he partook of the same; in order that through death, he might do-away-with the one who had the dominion of death, this is the devil;

³³ in this thing indeed, makes you a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions, but in this thing, you became partners of those who conducted themselves so.

²² But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to tens of thousands of messengers,

³¹ Do not turn to those who have familiar spirits, nor to the wizards. Do not seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Jehovah your* God.

⁶ And the soul that turns to those who have familiar spirits and to the wizards, to play the prostitute after them, I will even set my face against that soul and will cut him off from among his people.

¹¹ or a charmer, or a medium, or a spiritist, or a necromancer.

⁸ And Saul disguised himself and put on other garments and went, he and two men with him. And they came to the woman by night and he said, I beseech you, divine to me, by the familiar spirit and bring me up whomever I will name to you.

¹¹ Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up to you? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

¹⁶ And Samuel said, Why then do you ask of me, since Jehovah departed from you and has become your adversary?

³ But the messenger of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you* go to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?

⁶ And he made his son to pass through the fire and practiced soothsaying and used enchantments and dealt with psychics and with sorcery. He worked much evil in the sight of Jehovah to provoke him to anger.

²⁴ Moreover Josiah put away the psychics and the wizards and the household-idol and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Jehovah.

¹³ So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah, which he did not keep and also because he asked counsel of a spiritist, to inquire of it,

⁶ He also made his sons to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. And he practiced soothsaying and used enchantments and practiced sorcery and dealt with psychics and with wizards. He worked much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

²⁸ They also joined themselves to Baal of Peor and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

³ And the spirit of Egypt will fail in the midst of it and I will destroy the counsel of it. And they will seek for the idols and for the charmers and for those who have familiar spirits and for the wizards.

⁴ And you will be brought down and will speak out of the ground. And your speech will be low out of the dust and your voice will be as of he who has a familiar spirit, out of the ground. And your speech will whisper out of the dust.

¹⁰ But Jehovah is the true God. He is the living God and an everlasting King. At his wrath the earth trembles and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.

⁹ For they themselves are reporting concerning us, what sort of entrance we had toward you, and how you turned from idols to God, to serve a living and true God,

¹ But false prophets happened to be also among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will be smuggling in sects of destruction, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing quick destruction upon themselves.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making a simple man wise. ⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes.

¹³⁰ The opening of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple.

¹⁸ But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, that shines more and more to the perfect day.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, you* rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you* people of Gomorrah.

¹⁶ Bind you up the testimony. Seal the law among my disciples.

⁸ Now go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it on a scroll, that it may be for the time to come until everlasting. ⁹ For it is a rebellious people, lying sons, sons who will not hear the law of Jehovah, ¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things. Speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceits. ¹¹ You* get out of the way. Turn aside out of the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

⁹ The wise men are put to shame. They are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of Jehovah and what manner of wisdom is in them?

³ And let us know, let us follow on to know Jehovah. His going forth is sure as the morning and he will come to us as the rain, as the latter rain that waters the earth.

⁶ Therefore it will be night to you*, that you* will have no vision. And it will be dark to you*, that you* will not divine. And the sun will go down upon the prophets and the day will be black over them.

² But to you* who fear my name the sun of righteousness will arise with healing in its wings and you* will go forth and frolic as calves of the stall.

²³ But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be dark. Therefore, if the light which is in you is darkness, how much greater is the darkness!

²⁹ But Jesus answered and said to them, You are being misled, by not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

⁷ But they are worshiping me in futility, teaching as their teachings–the commandments of men.’ ⁸ For while leaving the commandment of God, you are holding-fast the tradition of men, like immersions of pint pitchers and cups, and you practice many other such similar things.
⁹ And he said to them, You reject well the commandment of God, in order that you may keep your tradition.

²⁶ But he said to him, What has been written in the law? How do you read it?

²⁹ But Abraham says to him, They have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them.
³⁰ But he said, No, father Abraham, but if someone travels to them from the dead, they will be repenting.
³¹ But he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if someone rises up from the dead.

³⁹ You are searching the Scriptures because you think that in them you have everlasting life, and these are those which are testifying concerning me;

⁴⁶ For if you believed in Moses, you would believe in me; for that man wrote concerning me. ⁴⁷ But if you do not believe the Scriptures of that man, how will you believe my declarations?

¹¹ Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they accepted the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see if these things were so.

²² They were foolish, claiming to be wise,

⁸ Now the Scripture foreseeing that God would make righteous the Gentiles from faith, proclaimed the good-news beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘All the nations will be blessed in you.’ ⁹ So-then those who are sons from faith are blessed together with the believing Abraham. ¹⁰ For as many as are from the works of the law are under a curse; for it has been written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is not remaining in all things which have been written in the book of the law, and to practice them.’ ¹¹ Now it is evident that no one is made righteous in the law before God, because, ‘The righteous will be living from faith.’ ¹² Now the law is not from faith, but, ‘The man who does them will live in them.’ ¹³ Christ bought us up out of the curse of the law, having become a curse on our behalf; for it has been written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs upon a tree,’ ¹⁴ in order that the blessing of Abraham might happen to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus; in order that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through the faith.
¹⁵ Brethren, I am speaking according to the manner of man, even a man’s covenant when it has been validated, no one nullifies or alters it with provisions. ¹⁶ Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He did not say and to seeds, as upon many, but as upon one and ‘to your seed,’which is the Christ. ¹⁷ Now I am saying this: the law, having happened four hundred and thirty years after ward, is not invalidating the covenant that has been validated beforehand by God in reference to Christ, that it should do-away-with the promise. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance is from the law, it is no more from the promise, but God has granted it to Abraham through the promise. ¹⁹ Therefore why was the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed would come to whom it has been promised; having been appointed through messengers by the hand of an intermediary. ²⁰ Now the intermediary is not of just one, but God is one. ²¹ Therefore is the law against the promises of God? Let it not happen! For if a law was given which is able to give-life, righteousness really would have been from the law. ²² But the Scriptures locked up together all things under sin, in order that the promise which comes from the faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
²³ But before the faith came, we were being kept under the law, having been locked up together to the faith which was about to be revealed. ²⁴ So-that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, in order that we might be made righteous from the faith. ²⁵ But when the faith came, we are no longer under a tutor. ²⁶ For you are all sons of God, through the faith, in Christ Jesus. ²⁷ For as many as were immersed into Christ were clothed with Christ. ²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bondservant nor free man, there is no male and female; for you all are one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ But if you are Christ’s, you are also Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

²¹ Tell me, you who wish to be under the law, are you not hearing the law? ²² For it has been written, that Abraham had two sons, one from the maidservant and one from the free woman. \ulnone\nosupersub

¹⁵ And you have known, that from a baby, the sacred Scriptures which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
¹⁶ All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for education which is in righteousness, ¹⁷ in order that the man of God may be equipped, having been utterly equipped for every good work.

⁹ For the one is blind in whom these things are not present, being short-sighted, having taken on himself the forgetfulness of the cleansing from his old sins.

¹⁹ And we have the steadfast prophetic word, (as to a lamp appearing in a dreary place, until the day should dawn and the morning-star might rise), to which you are doing well, and taking-heed in your hearts.

²⁸ You will not revile God, nor speak ill of a ruler of your people.

³³ The fruit of your ground and all your labors, will a nation eat up which you do not know. And you will only be oppressed and crushed always, ³⁴ so that you will be mad because of the sight of your eyes which you will see.

⁵³ And you will eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom Jehovah your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies will distress you. ⁵⁴ The man who is tender among you* and very delicate, his eye will be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the remnant of his sons whom he has remaining, ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his sons whom he will eat, because he has nothing left to him, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in all your gates.
⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you*, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye will be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one who comes out from between her feet and toward her sons whom she will bear, for she will eat them secretly for want of all things, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in your gates.

³³ And while he was yet talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him and he said, Behold, this evil is of Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?

³ On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

¹¹ But put forth your hand now and touch all that he has and he will renounce you to your face.

⁵ But put forth your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will renounce you to your face.

⁹ Then his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast your integrity? Renounce God and die.

³ The foolishness of a man subverts his way and his heart rages against Jehovah.

⁷ now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory. And it will come up over all its channels and go over all its banks, ⁸ and it will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through; it will reach even to the neck. And the stretching out of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

²⁰ And he will snatch on the right hand and be hungry. And he will eat on the left hand and they will not be satisfied. They will eat every man the flesh of his own arm–

¹⁸ If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! And if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land and have no knowledge.

⁶ In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

⁴ The tongue of the sucking child clings to the roof of his mouth for thirst. The young sons ask bread and no man breaks it to them.
⁵ Those who fed luxuriously are desolate in the streets. Those who were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

⁹ Those who are slain with the sword are better than those who are slain with hunger, for these are a flowing away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.
¹⁰ The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children. They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

²⁰ And the rest of mankind, who were not killed with these wounds, did not repent of the works of their hands, in order that they should not worship the demons and the golden and silver and the brass and the stone and the wooden idols; which are not able to see, nor hear, nor walk. ²¹ And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their stealing.

⁹ And men were burnt with great heat and the men blasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these wounds, and they did not repent to give him glory.
¹⁰ And the fifth messenger poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened, and they were gnawing their tongues out of pain, ¹¹ and they blasphemed the God of heaven out of their pains and out of their sores, and they did not repent from their works.

⁵ And in those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in, but great confusions were upon all the inhabitants of the lands. ⁶ And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation and city against city. For God distressed them with all adversity.

¹⁸ He will be driven from light into darkness and chased out of the world.

³² An evil man is thrust down in his evil-doing, but a righteous man has hope in his death.

³⁰ And they will roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. And if a man looks to the land, behold, darkness and distress and the light is darkened in the clouds of it.

¹ But there will be no gloom to her who was in constraint. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.

¹⁶ Give glory to Jehovah your* God, before he causes darkness and before your* feet stumble upon the dark mountains. And while you* look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death and makes it gross darkness.

¹² Therefore their way will be to them as slippery places in the darkness. They will be driven on and fall in it. For I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, says Jehovah.

⁶ Ask you* now and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins as a woman in travail and all faces are turned into paleness? ⁷ Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it. It is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he will be saved out of it.

¹⁸ Woe to you* who desire the day of Jehovah! Why would you* have the day of Jehovah? It is darkness and not light. ¹⁹ As if a man fled from a lion and a bear met him, or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall and a serpent bit him. ²⁰ Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness and not light, even very dark and no brightness in it?

¹⁴ The great day of Jehovah is near. It is near and hastens greatly, the voice of the day of Jehovah. The mighty man cries there bitterly. ¹⁵ That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of waste and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

¹² but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness–the weeping and the gnashing of teeth will be there.

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, When you bind him hand and foot, take him away and cast him out into the outer darkness–the weeping and the gnashing of teeth will be there.

²⁹ But immediately after the affliction of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not be giving her radiance, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;

²⁵ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and dismay of nations upon the earth, in perplexity from the noisy sea and the noisy billows; ²⁶ men passing-out from fear and expectation of the things which are coming upon the inhabited-earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

¹³ wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shames, misleading stars–for whom the blackness of darkness has been kept forever.
